Can a creature (or a character) have both of these templates?

Fiendish seems to apply to "normal"infernal denizens. Like a fiendish...cow for example.
while half-fiend seems to be a more drastic template but only the fiendish one gets dr/good

Your solution is simple. The room that contains the party's gear also has some other gear including some scrolls or even a wand.

Now you just have to tailor the loot to the level of the party.

why not just equip a mundane dog with a magic item, and have the "command word" be a particular type of bark?
Most dogs have trouble understanding the concept of "aiming", so you may need to give the creature an Intelligence boost. And dogs do tend to bark anyway. A lot. At inopportune times...
Uh... that was meant as a counter-example of why it shouldn't work. Allowing animals to activate magic items using their non-language audible communications shouldn't be allowed, imho... but I guess one might see some table variation. :P

But it would be hilarious to tie, hmm...a rod of wonder to a dog.

then you let the squirrel loose into the dungeon.

Don't be the guy who sticks his hand in the conspicuous hole in the wall.

Half-orc bard...

Time to invent the Axe-guitar.

Thank you all for the many(and varied) replies.
I particulary liked the one about flat-out cheating. Heh

I will bring up several of these with my player during the week and see what we can comeup with.

thanks again for the help

I am running Way Of The Wicked for a group of 6.
They are very melee heavy and are about to reach 9th level.

The rogue in question is satisfied with RP situations but feels very overshadowed in combat.

I'm pretty lenient (because the game is about having fun after all) so I allow the occasional class rebuild.

I suggested to him oracle or sorcerer inter ut with his rogue levels, but he would still lag behind the partty.
He doesnt want to give up on rogue completely for background purposes.

so how can I help him out here?
