Thank you both!

Hello All,

I have made a huge mistake and signed up at gencon for a ps2 game levels 7-10 and just realized today. I see the highest level pregens available currently are level 5 and I saw there was mention of higher levels being created but not available yet as far I've been able to find.

So my question is, would it be possible to use player core to level a 5th level pregen up to 7 and just not get any chronicle stuff?

FWIW, I do have a couple society characters but all level 1s and 2s.

Thanks fam!

More details:

Quest 7 - A Curious Claim - There is a note that says Hold for 5th level and a boon that says Amateur Adjuster (General). This shows starting gold 25 GP and gained 1 GP. Starting XP 1. From GenCon Online 2020, dated 8/2/2020. I was assuming I couldn't use the boon until level 5? Is that correct? Does that also include can't claim the gold and reputation as well?

Scenario #2-20: Breaking the Storm: Bastion in Embers
XP Gained 4
GP Gained 100
Reputation Gained: Horizon Hunters 4
GenCon Online 2021 dated 9/16/2021

I will be playing: #3-04 - The Devil-Wrought Disappearance on 8/4/2022 and #3-06 - Struck by Shadows on 8/5/2022. Both will be using pregens as I think they're levels 3-6.

Was going to apply all the things (if possible) to level 1 character I was creating for:

#3-08 - Foundation's Price on 8/7/22.

Thanks again for everyone's help! :)

Hello, Probably a dum question but I have some questions to make sure I'm doing this right.

Background: I played in a couple PF2e games in GENCON 2020 and 2021. I used pre-gen characters. Apparently I earned 101 GP, 5xp and 5 fame.

I'm going to be playing in (3) different PF2e games this year; 2 of which will also be using pre-gens but the last one I'll finally be making a legit 1st level character to play.

I've been told in each previous game that the stuffs could be applied to a new legit character, so I wanted to apply all that to this new character.

I see there is an option under Boons tab to add some stuff but I'm not seeing starting xp / fame / treasure / etc.

Looking at the chronicle sheets, it also lists a Kukri (6sp) Subtier 3-4.

At any rate, I'm trying to figure out if possible / & how to add this stuff to new character?

Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction? Thank you so much! :)

Awesome! Thanks guys! I probably will apply both chronicles to one 1st level and get me 1k GP. :-)

I believe it said the subtiers were 5th level, but I could be making that up. I'm pretty sure the Bone Keep one was run at subtier because everyone at our table had pregens, and there was a great deal of concern we'd all be ghosted in the first room. hahaha. Though we managed to make it 5 out of 8 rooms. Sadly ran out of time. :(

But I digress. Now just have to decide on what character I want to make. :)

Hello,

My first taste of PF Society games was at GenCon 2014, where I played 2 different level 7 pre-gens. I also had earned some of the Pathfinder coin thingies and turned them in to roll a d20 for goodies and ended up winning a boon.

So I found a game store that has PF Society games and decided to finally make my first actual character. However I'm a little confused about what to do w/ the things I obtained from Gencon, both with that d20 roll to obtain a boon and what, if anything carries over from the pre-gens.

So, the PFS guide says that:

"If you play a non-1st-level pregenerated character, you may apply the credit to your character as soon as she reaches the level of the pregenerated character played. You may not apply a Chronicle sheet earned w/ a pregen character to a character that was already at the level of the pregen or higher, as you should've used this character for the scenario instead. The one exception is if you have multiple Chronicle sheets from pregenerated characters, they're applied to your character's Chronicle sheet stack all at once when your character reaches the appropriate level, even if this would advance your character several levels.

You may also opt instead to apply the Chronicle sheets earned w/ a non-1st-level pregen character to a 1st-level character w/ the amount of gp gained reduced to 500 gp. You don't lose access to any of the Prestige Points, boons, or items listed on the Chronicle sheets that were earned during the adventure. Any equipment that's listed on the pregen sheet may only be sold to clear conditions such as death during the play of a sanctioned event, and any remaining gold doesn't carry over at the end of the adventure."

So I played with (2) 7th level pre-gens; War Priest & Fighter, in the adventures, "The Paths We Choose, and BoneKeep Level 3."

And also I got the boon for cashing in the Pathfinder Coins and rolling the d20 and got a boon.

Here is what I'm seeing on the sheets and also the boon from the d20:

Boon from rolling d20:
Gen Con 2014 Boon #5

Expedition Manager: In addition to your more dangerous duties as a PF, you also have undertaken an archaeological excavation at a minor site. Your venture-captain expects you to fund the expedition yourself, but so long as you report on your findings, you may keep any physical goods uncovered for yourself. When rolling your Day Job check at the end of a scenario, you may spend between 2 and 6 Prestige Points to pay for supplies, expenses, & personnel. ..... acquire an item depending on how much you spend, 2, 4, or 6 PP.

The Paths we Choose:
+1 XP, +2 PP, 3200 GP and "This Chronicle sheet grants access to the following:

"New Recruit: Declare a new pc as a new recruit, they get a free faction trait."

Bonekeep: +1 xp, +1 PP, +55 GP, "This Chronicle sheet grants access to the following: Bonekeep Cure, Inubrix Ore, Elven burial shroud +1, black dragonhide access.

Soooo I guess what my main questions are is:

Am I reading it correctly to where I either have to make a new character and don't get any of the goodies until that character reaches 7th level?

OR I "can," make a 1st level character and take the boons and such, but my monies drop to 500 GP from ... 3700 (crazy gambling / drug binge, Charlie Sheen Bard-style)

And also, what about the boon I got from the roll of the d20? As I wouldn't have received the coins if I didn't play the (2) 7th level pregens, does that mean I wouldn't be able to receive that either until 7th level?

Just kind of confused on it all and would appreciate any help smacking me in the head until it makes sense, and then a few more times for good measure. :)

Thanks!

Yes. It seems bad that a party of (1) level 5 and (4) level 7 pregens should play up in Bonekeep 3.

7 x 4 + 5 = 33

33 / 5 = 6.6

If I had this five player table, I would have run it with the lower subtier as there is no 4-player adjustment in Bonekeep 3.

I believe I was the GM at this table, and that is exactly the judgement call I made. There was no 4 player adjustment, they were all playing pregens, and had started playing Pathfinder that con. I will say that this was an awesome table and one of the most fun I had at the Gencon. They learned fast, and had great attitudes, and I never expected to laugh so much running Bonekeep.

The pregen characters were:

Paladin x2
Fighter
Skald
Arcanist

Through a combination of skill and dumb luck they made it through 5 of 8 rooms. (If you are familiar with the scenario, they turned right in the front room.) They read their character sheets, and used all the gear and abilities on them, and the ACG pregens are noticably better than the older ones. In one case, a player remembered how to deal with a hazard from D&D. In another case, a full attack from a bad guy that would have killed one of them rolled 1,1,1,2.

They played smart, used teamwork, and earned their success with a little luck. They paid attention to every resource on their character sheets. If they were experienced pathfinders, I might have turned up the time pressure a bit and that would have caused them to make more mistakes. If these guys came back with their own characters after a year of PFS, I know they would take the place apart.

The next room would have really taken a toll on them and the last encounter would absolutely have destroyed what was left.

Thank ya sir. It was great fun playing. haha. I only wish we did have more time to try out those last 2 fights; that would have been a lot more challenging.

All in all; I look forward to playing again. Now to decide on what I want my 1st level actual character to be! weeeeeeee! :)

Makes me wonder what kind of tactics the GM used in a couple rooms. I know at my table, had it not been for the 30+ armor classes that seemed to be standard at the table, I likely would have TPKed in 2 rooms (playing the 8-9 tier). Pregens with 20-25 armor classes would have dropped pretty hard. And I know I didn't run the tactics as brutal as I should have.

Actually, the DM critted several times. The party was 2 paladins, a fighter (played by yours truly), a skald, and a wizard.

AC's weren't that great but Hit points were I think 60+. We all were rolling quite well on saving throws as well.

Don't want to mention any possible spoilers, but we went to the right after first room. Probably would have had a harder time had we gone left. Which I normally do; due to playing the old school dnd days where the treasure always seemed to be left. hahaha. But I was too busy stuffing my fat face full of chips and beef jerky to say anything. hahaha. :)

Hey All,

So I'm a newbie to the Pathfinder Society and got my first couple adventures in at Gen Con. I played the Paths we Choose as a Pregen Level 7 Warpriest and the Bone Keep as a Level 7 Fighter.

I talked a buddy in to playing Bone Keep with me to have him check out Pathfinder. Since it was new for both of us and levels 5-9; we had to use pre-gens.

We were sitting outside waiting for the game to start and I swear at least 30 people came up to us telling us we'd get wiped in 10 minutes and we didn't stand a chance and blah blah blah.

We were rounded up with a group of 6 total. The 6th person decided he didn't want his character he spent 3 years building getting ghosted since the rest of us were using pre-gens.

Welp, we beat the odds soundly. We cleared I think 5 or 6 of 8 rooms with barely a scratch. Actually, I think 1 or 2 of the party weren't touched at all.

Would have liked to have capped the big bad but ran out of time.

All n all, it was annoying to be told by so many people we were wasting our time; but thankfully due to the group and especially our DM Matt, it was a lot of fun and we beat the odds.

Anywho, to all those who played it; how well did you do? Hope everyone had fun. :)
