This is a wonderful, loving, supportive post, and showcases one of the reasons that I love Paizo so much. I may be cis, and 5E may be my system of choice these days (busy mom, teaching kids, juggling moderating duties), but damn if I don't want to play in your sandbox again! <3 Especially soothing after spending another afternoon trying to support my genderqueer siblings-in-games on largest DnD5thEd FB group. So much hate left, or at least so much noise left by the remaining haters. I'm glad your celebrations and stories and supporters drown them out more and more!

Oh, I am so loving this set, more and more the more you tease it. Ssssserpentsss! Yes! I may not be able to spring for a subscription or a whole case, but am awfully tempted to go halvies...plus the incentive! I'm playing through Tomb of Annihilation in 5th Edtion, and have quite a few jungle-appropriate minis myself that I'm lending to the DM... But more will always be welcome, especially as I gear up to run the Shackled City - with extensive additions - this summer. I'd thought about dipping into Serpent's Skull as well for more dimensions, but don't have any personal experience with it, as player or reader. Was that the main inspiration for this set? Or is it useful for/in Ruins of Azlant as well?

Dungeons & Dragons recently released the latest version of those, called Dungeon Tiles Reincarnated (official release date isn't for another 3 days, but even up here in Canada they've been in-store for a couple of weeks or more). They include 16 sheets of double-sided tiles, and are expanded versions of their 4E D&D Essentials line, the Dungeon, City, and Wilderness Dungeon Tile Master Sets. From the unboxing pictures I've seen, they've incorporated other 3.X era-sets into each of those boxes, since those 4E boxes had only 10 sheets.
Heck, Jason Engle may very well have been the artist for those original D&D tiles as well, because he was a big artist for 4th Edition, and did a lot of cartography for Dungeon magazine in that era, apparently.

Even though I loved the artwork on the D&D tiles, and thought I'd get a lot of use out of them, really I haven't. They aren't very practical, and layouts - while very customizable - are also very time consuming. Sorting or hunting through them for just what you need, takes a little too long... and it's a pain to have to lay them all out in the middle of a game as well..

These new Pathfinder tiles have three main advantages that I can see. One, they match the existing artwork of recent & current map packs and flip-mats - at least as well as can be expected. Two, the larger size and fixed shape, while it means they are somewhat less versatile, also means it's a lot quicker, easier, and more stable for layout at the table. Third, only Paizo has taken the trouble to make their mats, map packs, and tiles safely useable for wet-, dry-, and non-eraseable (permanent ) markers!

Oh, and a fourth, which should be obvious to anyone on this site - Paizo is still much more responsive and communicative with its customer base. Like Avis Rent-a-Car, their motto as number two is "We Try Harder"...

The metal version can be found here (http://paizo.com/products/btpy8fdv/discuss?Mockingbeast#3), but this plastic version has been discontinued from Paizo's website. It's still, however, available from Reaper directly as of 2017-12-09.
I picked it up here a few years ago, and really love the detail - it's a terrific sculpt!

Oh, and count me in as another vote for ballpark numbers remaining, please!

Because they can't do print-on-demand, so they have to order a certain total from the printer when they do their first printing. Once that's done, it sits in their warehouse, the warehouses of distributors, and in FLGSs shelves until people buy it. Once their warehouse is empty or close to it, they look at the sales numbers of that map and see if it's worth reprinting as a 'flip-mat classic'. If not, that means that it wasn't popular enough to be profitable for Paizo to reprint, and that's that. If a map you want is out of stock at Paizo, check Amazon, check ebay, check your FLGS, and check with your gaming friends -- maybe one of them has it and would be willing to part with it.
Did that found 1 for $600.

It's all about playing the long game. I managed to track some down in stores the next province over, and picked them up on a visit. Found a used copy of one favourite for about $25-30 on an FB group, and considered it worth the price. Searched online game store inventories not just in Canada, but as far afield as England. And that was back when they swore up and down that they'd never be likely to reprint anything! Making it much more of a hunt, and more likely a wild goose chase.

It's October 7th, and the hardcover is currently listed as "Hardcover Unavailable" - dose this mean you are already sold out of the pre-orders?

This is absolutely _perfect_ for the Primeval Thule campaign I have planned, particularly the jungle ruins side. I was bemoaning the fact that so far I only had jungle tile sets to use, the various blank battlemats, and the questionable jungle poster map from the otherwise-excellent

What I might do while I wait is craft up a 3D version of that pyramid temple to lay on it... if I get really ambitious ;)

One of the comic book maps had a small pull out spider forest; I hope that those might one day become available digitally as well. I picked up a second copy, but that's because my first set got damaged in a flood. Nowadays I prefer a digital backup of everything...

I hope we can get an image preview of this set before I have to pre-order the City Streets reprint.

The great thing about a Kobold Press Bestiary is that, particularly with KP's experience writing the first campaign for the edition, a D&D5E version would be as welcome as the Pathfinder. Granted, that would take more work converting the stats, but Wolfgang Baur has already said he's got 5E projects just waiting for the licensing to go official. And the art costs would cover for both versions.
Something like Deep Combat would likely only work for Pathfinder, though.

Hmm, I could even see using these for the D&D 5E starter set adventure. Will there be more preview images as we near the release date? I'm wanting to restart my map subscription soon, and wondering if this will be the one...

Hmmm, that magical marshy trio further reinforces our need for ANOTHER SWAMP/MARSH FLIP-MAT PLEASE! :)

Weird serendipity - I just started re-reading the strips online a couple of days ago, with no idea a new book was due out. And now I can pick it up in hardcopy for a tidy discount :) Thanks Paizo!

Mike, I'm so sorry to have missed your spot, I got caught up with my kids, so I'll have to catch up with the vid later on. I watched the last hour of Erin & friends' stint though, and it was great! Tossed in a few coins, since we weren't able to get it together at our FLGS this year. And it's a cause dear to my heart, as I've a sister-in-law that's worked at one of those hospitals, and a friend's daughter (same age as my younger son) visited it many times for (successful!) cancer treatments. It's a great cause, and great fun!

I love the limericks, and will be putting them to good use in my next D&D games with my halfling rogue/Arcane Trickster Monty Applebottom, and my sometimes rather odd half-elven bard. (My other caster, is a rather more serious Pathfinder Oracle)

I was wondering... do you think you could convince the powers-that-be at Paizo to commission a gnoblin iconic? What could be better than a combo of gnome and goblin, from the people who managed to make the traditional cannon fodder their iconic monster?

Have fun!

Well, it's a good thing I've not had cause to cast any spells like that! Thanks for the correction, Ipslore the Red & boring7!

The order arrived today, safe and sound, in time to show it off to my D&D Expeditions group and give my DM the Necropolis/Crypts. They'll be another order coming from that crew, inspired by the awesomeness ;) Friday I may get to share with my Pathfinder players & GM. And plenty for when I can get my own home game of PF going! Yay!

Thanks again for all your help!

Just remember, if a spell component has a cost, say a gem worth 50gp, then they would have to purchase that separately. IIRC, such items generally work as catalysts and are not used up when a spell is cast.

Last year they had the Great Golem sale in November, when there was a lull in subscription releases, so they wanted to keep the warehouse people occupied as well as bump sales. I'm not quite sure why they switched to an earlier, busier month this year.

However, whenever I've had a shipping problem, the CS staff have been very helpful as soon as they've heard. Paizo is a solid, customer-friendly and -oriented company from all I've seen and experienced, even if I'm playing D&D more often nowadays.

And wally, as you are quoting somebody else's issue, not your own, you don't have the whole story. Having suffered through similar authorization difficulties with my own CC on a few occasions, I've seen that Paizo doesn't offer that notice until they've been trying & re-trying the authorization a couple of times already. IF if was just the first time, they'd be shifting and retrying on the next subscription ship-out. Two months in a row, and they warn you the whole order may be cancelled 60 days later if not resolved. Take a look at the order numbers in the threads, and you may get a sense of just how many orders are being processed, and really how few of them are going awry. If you've a specific order of your own going wrong, offer up the details, and I'm sure CS will sort it out as soon as they can. Until then, give them the benefit of the doubt - they are nice people, trying hard...

Do comic subscribers get the discount on these hardcovers? I just put my subscription on suspension until next month, before I saw this, so I can't tell...

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Are you sure your first name isn't misspelled, and it's actually Super Marie? :D

Please only suspend the maps and comics subscriptions. I still love the stories and I have an addiction to maps, although currently I'm only playing and not yet GMing. I'll get both subscriptions restarted by Christmas once my hobby money is replenished.

Thank you once again!

It was just a single item that tipped the scales, I played around with a new cart to see, before I decided what I could let go. The City Folio was the least important and the last added. If it's not too late or too much trouble you can take it out to save yourselves the extra shipping costs.

In any case, you have my heartfelt thanks.

Can you please remove Pathfinder Chronicles: City Map Folio from Order#3200813?

After I confirmed the cost & merging of Order#3328154 into Order#3200813, the shipping jumped from $44.00 to $56.55 in my Order History. Pathfinder Chronicles: City Map Folio is the least important item, and dropping it brings the cost back down.

I think that jump happened because the GameMastery Map Pack: Shops is no longer available (though it was at the time of the original order) and so the system only calculated for 28 instead of 29 items. I hope “Shops” is still earmarked for my order, I’ve been wanting that for a while.

Thank you ever so much for all your help! These will be enjoyed by about fifteen people in my gaming groups, and will get them hooked on the awesomeness of your products, particularly the maps!

Hello,

Can you please cancel my PF Adventure Path and Player Companion subscriptions immediately, and suspend my PF Comics and Map Subscriptions until further notice?

I should really have done this earlier, but I can't seem to get through on the phone.

As for Iron Gods, I may be in the minority, but I like to keep my fantasy and Sci-Fi separate. ;)

Order 3321837
Submitted Tue, Oct 7, 2014

S Pathfinder—City of Secrets #5 (paizo.com Exclusive)
S Pathfinder Map Pack: Starship Corridors

S Pathfinder Player Companion: Advanced Class Origins (PFRPG)

Thanks for your help!

Hello there,

Unable to reach you by phone (busy, no space left for messages) or email (the 2000 backlog), I'll try this here.

I pre-ordered the Pathfinder Flip-Mat: The Emerald Spire Superdungeon Multi-Pack back in April, but then due to unforeseen circumstances had to cancel my subscriptions and orders.
I re-subscribed to the Pathfinder Maps subscription again as soon as I could, but was told that I'd have to have my first shipment sent out before I could re-order the Superdungeon Multi-Pack and get the PDF (i.e. I could not side-cart it). The order didn't ship until the 16th, I asked again and was told it since the PDF hadn't yet been released that I was still okay.
There was a problem with that order (Goblins of Golarion?), and it wasn't submitted until June 19th via Order 3142541. It was side carted, and should have gone out with the next batch of subscription. However, despite more than enough available funds on credit card, repeated authorization problems resulted in the items being bumped around, and finally shipping via Order 3168491, shipped Sep 25, 2014.
I didn't want to touch the orders, since I was afraid that would change my eligibility for the PDF, and because I had pressing family matters that made it all seem rather inconsequential at the time. Plus, like today, I can't always reach customer service when I need to...

Now I'm stuck with a couple of modules of an AP I don't even want, and not the PDF of the map pack I most wanted. Can this be fixed, or am I SOL?

Subscribed to Pathfinder Maps Jun 4, 2014 via Order 3138247
First maps sent via Order 3138252, Shipped Jun 16, 2014
Added Pathfinder Flip-Mat: The Emerald Spire Superdungeon Multi-Pack to sidecart, via Order 3142541, submitted June 19, 2014 (PDF release date was listed between June 22nd and 25th at the time)
Authorization problems resulted in the items being bumped around, and finally shipping via Order 3168491, Shipped Sep 25, 2014

Hm? Valeros, Seelah, Seoni, Sajan, Lini, and Droogami - that’s 5 plus a companion, making 6.

Did they update it after you posted?

Well, that's hardly true. In your email promoting a sale of your Pathfinder-compatible products on a competing site, Legendary Games says the following:

"The only products not included are the two adventures we are releasing this GenCon for use with the 5th Edition of the world's most famous roleplaying game. There are no dungeons in them, nor dragons, but The Murmuring Fountain (5th Ed) and The Fiddler's Lament (5th Ed) both provide excellent 1st-level adventures with a delightful splash of horror and mystery. Grab your brand-new Basic Set or Player's Handbook and take your new 5th Edition characters for a spin in these darkling fantasy adventures from industry legends Greg Vaughan, Clark Peterson, and Jason Nelson!"

The only thing that was not done was spell out Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition directly, while referring to it as closely as possible, in every which way possible. You are at the very best being disingenuous, if not dishonest or worse.
The product may itself be good (hard to say, particularly as to its compatibility, as only the PHB and some Basic Rules have been released of D&D5E so far), but the promotion leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

If my experience with those two races hadn't been coloured by my experience with their players, I'd probably be sad to see them go.

Unfortunately, I've not seen them chosen for flavour, but for power gaming...

But those players will just move onto something else I guess.

Compared to 3.5

Monks and Fighters in DnD Next are absolutely amazing and on par with Barbarians and Paladins

Rogues can actually stealth better than anyone and if they choose to be an assassin they can kill a lot of things in one shot with a sneak attack or at least severely cripple it.

Casters are still very versatile, but they lost a lot of their extreme world bending destruction.

Bards are less "versatile" and pushed farther into the supporting caster+skill monkey role, which they do really well.

Warlocks have interesting choices early that can change how the class plays.

Gone is power attack and str*1.5, so two handed weapons that aren't polearms are generally worse than shield and a weapon.

Archetypes are built into classes. When you play a Rogue you pick stuff like "Assassin" or "Arcane Trickster" at level 2-3ish and get additional class features based on the choice.

Overall it looks pretty fun from what I've seen.

Please keep in mind that only the basic rogue, cleric, fighter, and wizard are included in the D&D Starter Set, as pre-gens. So far, the free, downloadable Basic Rules only include those as well, though that will be updated with more once the Player Handbook is released, at GenCon. Some changes have been made since the last play test packet, which is what I think you are referring to.

dotting! Thanks!

Hi there!
I've been playing Pathfinder via PFS for a year now, but the opportunities have been few and far between until just recently. After the latest mini-con in my town, I was invited to join an already-in-progress home game, of Rise of the Runelords.
The tricky things are as follows - I've not played beyond the early levels, or outside the core rulebook. However, what the party seems to lack is someone with healing skill (armor heavy fighter, a combat druid, a rogue/magus a bard and a summoner), and the cleric is just too vanilla for me to sustain over a few months.

The flavour of the oracle really caught me, and while I was able to create a backstory that worked with the setting and group, I've neither the time, experience, nor search-fu to do a proper build by Friday night. I'm overwhelmed with choices, particularly starting at fifth.

My preference, flavour-wise, is a Oracle of the Heavens, with either the Haunted or perhaps the Tongues curse, with some healing ability, some spells to assist in combat (battlefield control I'll leave to someone more experienced), and possibly some divination. She's a Varisian called away from her family caravan by visions she can't understand, leading her to aid the needy, and now a particularly dark vision has called her to Sandpoint to assist this party.

I don't need a super-optimized character, but I do not want to be a liability either, nor regretting any big decisions made now, over the rest of the campaign. Help! Please! :)

character (5th level)
campaign Rise of the Runelords (in progress)
party: armor heavy fighter, a combat druid, a rogue/magus a bard and a summoner
character Creation is standard society rules with the exceptions of crafting feats and a 25 point stat buy.

For those interested in paper minis that actually have presence on the table, One Monk still has theirs available, but most sets are for sale. There are, however, numerous mods that are free, scattered through the OneMonk/Cardboard Warriors Forum Hoards, alongside HUNDREDS of other paper minis by over a dozen artists & designers, covering fantasy, sci-fi, steampunk, old west, modern, etc.. Those links are at the top left of the OneMonk.com page, while fantasy freebies by another (amateur, but prolific) designer, Dryw the Harper, are at the bottom left. The Terrain/Scenery is also by One Monk, and free, while the rest of the OneMonk sets along the left side are for sale.

Most of those paper miniatures now (or always) included cut files for automated cutting machines like the Silhouette Cameo or Portrait, used by scrapbookers and other paper crafters.

There is another one, here, hand-drawn rather than CGI.

This looks really interesting. I like the idea of playing an iconic, low-level monster in its own battle against the big bads.
Of course, I loved the Free RPG Day Goblin modules, and kobolds are nearly as much fun as Pathfinder goblins...

My fun little FLGS (Strange Adventures! Woohoo!) happened to be one of the (apparently) few stores to get the exclusive cover. However, contrary to what is suggested on the Comic Store Invasion page ("This special edition contains both the Tavern Brawl and the Goblin Invasion encounters with a special double-sided encounter map"), this version only includes one battle map, the comic store one, with art on the back.
I need to be sure, so I know what to buy to have playable and saveable copies of each encounter map.

Is that correct, that the Retailer Exclusive should have only the Comic Book Store Map, and the other versions only the Tavern Brawl map?

W00T! I've been waiting for this to pop up - pre-ordered! And then poverty for a while, though it's a good deal for so many maps. Hopefully the maps will stand up for individual use as well as with the Emerald Spire book itself.

Once again I really wish I'd been back playing tabletop games in time to learn of the Kickstarter... but I hadn't discovered either Pathfinder or Kickstarter by that point.
