Hey guys,

Quick question about the Cleric's Command spell. It says it targets "one living creature", which I'm taking to mean non-undead/non-constructs, but I could be wrong. I couldn't find it as a creature type.

Thanks!

A quick question about designing encounters. Say I'm putting together a CR 2 encounter, giving me a 600 XP budget. I decide I want Skeletons (1/3 CR, 135 XP). I can have 4 Skeletons before going over the budget. Instead of adding another creature in to make it an even 600, I leave it the way it is, for 540 XP.

My question is, when awarding XP do I do it monster by monster CR/XP or encounter by encounter. Do I give the party 600 XP, or 540 XP? Or should I just fill the gap with little creature?

Ok, but I guess that's the question I have. What determines the spell levels that a Wizard (or any other spellcaster) can learn? It seems like it's every odd level opens up the next one.

My understanding is that a Cleric (because he's divine), would learn all 2nd-level Cleric spells at level 3. While a Wizard, when reaching class level 3, would be able to learn up to two spells from spell level 2. Is that correct?

I just didn't see a clear answer in the rulebook...

New to PF, had a question about spell levels that I didn't really find in the core rulebook. According to the table for the wizard, you get a certain number of spells to prepare every class level. However, it would seem that you "unlock" spell levels for every odd number level. (You get 1 spell of spell level 2 to prepare when you reach class level 3).

I also know that as a Wizard, you learn 2 spells after each level, and you can learn them from any spell levels you have available. My question then, is when do these spell levels become available? Is it every odd numbered level?

If that's true, is it referenced in the rules anywhere? I cannot, for the life of me find it. Heh.

Great, thanks!

A quick question about BAB. I see for a Barb his BAB at level 6 is +6/+1. I'm assuming the /+1 is for an extra attack but I could be assuming wrong. What's the /+1 mean?

Awesome, thanks!

Thought of another question.

Let's say we finish up the BB and a couple other stuff specifically for the BB, like the Bash demos, or the stuff in the GM Kit. If we want to continue play afterwards, how difficult is it to get the generated characters into "core" PF? And what would we have to do for that?

Thanks guys! Really appreciate all the feedback. This will definitely help me out.

Hey guys, just recently purchased the BB and I'm about to start a game this Saturday with a few friends. I've played D&D on and off for years so I'm familiar with tabletops in general (but new to pathfinder), but my friends have little to no experience in tabletops.

I understand that the BB has all I need to run a game up to level five, but I do have a couple of questions to go along with it.

1. Do I need to make any preparations as a GM before then? Obviously, I'll break open the box and read all the materials, but is there any other suggested things I should do beforehand?

2. Do my friends need to roll their characters before we begin or should they do it at the beginning of the game? They won't have access to the box or materials till Saturday, but I didn't know if they could use some of the resources on this site. If they did roll day-of, I'm not entirely familiar with the character creation process so I don't know how long this will take. They can always use pre-generated characters, but I have a feeling many of them will want to continue onto other campaigns.

3. I don't yet have the core rulebook, but if all goes well I plan on getting it. I noticed the free downloads of the GM kit and extended demos to extend play. If we're enjoying ourselves, is there any reason we couldn't just ramp into them right away? Or do those require the rulebook?

Thanks in advance, I'm really looking forward to playing. :)
