After reading up more, I had actually thought about having it be a piscodaemon as they're supposed to be the personification of death by poison. I guess I was just worried if that would be "cool" enough for my player. That being said, I guess it's all in how I roleplay that potential meeting anyway.
Hi folks! Need help figuring out just who the Patron for my Player's Lawful Evil Witch is. It's a bit of a one-shot but it has the potential to go beyond that. If so, she has expressed some interest in possibly trying to figure out just who/what her patron is. I know it's supposed to be all mysterious, but I'd like her to have the possibility of finding out. I'm already at work designing a Patron spell list for her (either going to be called Corruption or Weakness). And I've created a 1st-level spell called Contaminate Food and Drink. In her own words the character has "a life-long fascination with toxins, poisons, venom and illness in general. Killing people outright is too dull: it is much more interesting to watch them try to continue existing in the face of discomfort, mortifying weakness, and certainly a wee-bit of pain. Using this affinity, she has managed to rid herself of a number of troublesome would-be suitors, and other unwanted entanglements, all while remaining the picture of innocence her parents require of her. People she doesn't like just... happen to fall ill. Oh dear, how dreadful." Right now I'm thinking her Patron could possibly be Norgorber (as Blackfingers) or the Daemon Harbinger Vorasha. But honestly if anyone has any other ideas, I'm game to hear them. Thanks in advance!
Chess Pwn wrote: You can get a mount as if a ranger with 2 feats, and full progression with 3. A bit easier to manage with a WP since they get bonus feats. That would actually be a fairly solid idea. Thank you! I know about Nature Soul and Animal Ally, but what is the third feat you mentioned? Quote: Also, good luck with those age penalties. Old age is -3 to str, dex and con. I'm aware, and I'd only go with old age if he was in a mythic campaign, so that he could take Longevity. Otherwise I'll just stick with middle age that almost reaches old age. As i said, it's more a flavour thing than anything else
Hi folks, I need a bit of help with a warpriest I've been designing. He's the character I'd love to play in Wrath of the Righteous (if i wasn't the one that was going to be running it). I mostly have questions regarding some of his thematic stuff. My apologies for how long this might be. Basic character stuff: middle or old aged halfling warpriest of ragathiel, missing an eye ( holy symbol either on an eye patch,or on a false eye) Career soldier, but at this point in his life, he's operating as more of a drill instructor. Leaning towards a mixture of TWF and Mounted Combat, with a couple of feats used to add a more "religious" flavour (thinking Leadership for a hound archon or cassisian cohort). Destruction and nobility blessings. If he became mythic would take Longevity first to remove penalties. 1. I was leaning towards worship of Ragathiel, i like his celestial obedience. What do you think chances are of one of his warpriests actually: A) reaching middle or old age? Or in the same vein, having a family at home? (As opposed to bachelorhood, not saying his family is dead) B) Accepting semi-retirement from soldiery, as opposed to wanting to die in combat against evil. That being said, I like Ragathiel but am open to suggestions for a deity or Empyreal lord that someone thinks might work better. I'm not super fond of Iomedae for some reason 2. Thoughts on multiclassing. I tend to prefer flavour over function, and I liked the thought of him finding deeper spirituality later in his career. Kinda thought about starting him off as a cavalier, so he could have a loyal dog that might travel with him (and not die immediately). Again, not totally sold on it, just don't want a case of "dying mount, dies instantly!" I know the divine commander exists, but not fond of giving up blessings. And yes I realise I could probably get exactly what I want with paladin instead of warpriest levels, but, again, it's a flavour thing. And feel free to tell me to suck it up, or that it's not a feasible build. I'm just trying to finally build a character whose class level growth reflects how i want him to grow as a character.
Wooh! Congrats to the Top 8! I'm really looking forward to seeing what you folks come up with in the coming rounds! I'm a mixed bag of feelings right now, admittedly, but I'm so happy I was able to make it as far as I did! I've learned so much, and I can't wait to try again! Now to go post to my heart's content on my monster, hehehe...

Been meaning to do a full post about my thought processes, and to reply to the critiques. So here we go! My original thoughts for a map were leaning heavily towards a cooling lava flow, with a red dragon encounter. But that felt like something that had probably been before, or at least felt a little trope-ey. And then for some reason I had a thought about a black dragon creating a spa for itself. So there we are, a place for a dragon to go when it needs to get away from home. My one big regret was not putting more thought into where in Golarion this could specifically take place. So, take a black dragon out of its normal environment, but how to make it difficult for PCs to get to it? Add a high vantage point, create some difficult terrain, and add a convenient pit into which it could fling creatures using Snatch (so it wouldn't have to dirty its pool). And add in some more bulky obstacles that can aid the PCs in sneaking closer. My intention with the methane was that it would vent continuously from underground, thereby making it a fixture, even with wind/wind spells. PCs would get a Perception or Knowledge (nature) check in order to recognize the tell-tale shimmer of the vents. If it was set alight, and since it was being fed from underground, the gas would just keep on burning, which would provide its own fun in those squares. The fumaroles were a way to provide PCS with cover, while still being dangerous due to the smoke. A sort of high risk vs. high reward scenario. Thoughts for other encounters here included mud elementals (duh), mephits, mudlords (again, duh), boggards, and possibly even an actual spa that had been abandoned and been turned into a bandit lair. I think that about covers everything I could think of. Again, thanks so much to the judge's for their critiques, and to everyone elsefor their comments and criticism. I can only get better with this much help!
*bursts through the door* Ahhhhhhh I'm super late to the party!! But I brought punch, cake, and pie for everyone! Sorry I've been so quiet everyone! Been having laptop issues at home so I've been doing most of my computer-related stuff at work or through the roommate's computer. And somehow I didn't notice that this thread existed until this morning...*hangs head* So, uh, introductions would be in order. I'm John, I live in Ottawa, Canada, and I currently work as a library technician for a non-profit association's technical library. In my spare time I run an amateur baking business with a friend of mine. For the last few years as a "fun" project, I've been working on a musical centred around tabletop gaming. I've been playing tabletop RPGS for about 10 years now and Pathfinder for about 5 I guess. Currently playing through the Reign of Winter AP, and have finished Carrion Crown as well quite a few homebrews. Hoping to GM Wrath of the Righteous at some point soon. This is my fourth year submitting an item for RGPSS. Previous items submitted were Thief's Chalk, the Choking Coil, and the Ebon Cloak of...something (which shows happy I was with it, haha). I still can't believe I've made it this far, and I'm super excited to be up against a group of such talented people! So that's it! Hope to be posting more as the competition continues! PS. Cats, always cats.
Walter! Congratulations on making it through Round 1! I liked your flavour on this shield, even though I shared some of the same concerns that others have posted here. I voted for this more often than not because I thought it showed some cool potential and I hope you don't disappoint in later rounds! Good luck in the rest of the competition!
Congratulations on making it through the first round Isaac! Unfortunately, your item never came up for me during voting. I quite like the teamwork aspect of this. It feels very much as though it was designed for the Hunter, but it could be used by anyone and I like that a lot. Good luck in the rest of the competition!
Congratulations on making the Top 36! This item was a tough call for me. Thought you did a great job balancing it out with the skill penalties, but still worried that 3 times a day might have been too much. Overall though, a really interesting weapon that I can see myself wanting to buy. Good luck in the rest of the competition!
Congratulation on making the Top 36! This has great imagery to it; but I too was concerned about it's statistics. I have GM's who would delight in squashing this delicate creation the first time I tried using it. Still, I applaud your brevity; concise writing is a major plus in my books! Good luck in the rest of the competition!
I made a promise to myself that I'd continue posting on my fellow competitors' items before Round 2 came to an end, so here we go. First off, congratulations on making it to the top 36! Now on to your item. Unfortunately, I did not have your item appear while I was voting, but I have plenty of friends who told me about it. I'll be honest and say while it might not be my favourite item, I absolutely love how creepy it is. I can totally envision an apprentice slowly destroying his master's spellbooks in a fit of revenge with this item. Again, congratulations and good luck in the rest of the competition!

I didn't see this one come up while I was voting, but I wish I had! I will admit that the first thing it made me think of was "Or the dogs with bees in their mouths and when they bark, they shoot bees at you!". Which, frankly, just makes me like it more. Congratulations on making the Top 32 and good luck in the rest of the competition!
