"Land of the Silver Lotus" - alone this title rolls smoothly from your tongue, mysterious, promising, wondering, longing, awaking a thirst for adventure. And all this 'Land of the Silver Lotus' fulfills in a true Sword and Sorcery style.

Depending on your preferred style of play you can pluck it for your own world and use it sandbox style or you can play the adventure in the amazing setting of Xoth, an astonishing and awe inspiring world in the sense of Sword & Sorcery Conan style.

This is an outstanding product on a professional level (...) I collect for 29 years by now roleplaying publications in English, French and German, and Xoth Publishing ranks about my top 5

This is exactly what I have been waiting for as well! I do not mind having DM only stuff in pdf form, but player facing material I always prefer to have a physical book that can be passed around.

The Player's Guide to the World of Xoth is now available as print-on-demand from Lulu.com.

Here is the link: http://www.lulu.com/shop/xothnet-publishing/players-guide-to-the-world-of-x oth/paperback/product-22957357.html

The price is set as low as possible (basically equal to the production cost), so you can buy several copies, reducing the need to pass the books around! :-)

BTW, I'm also looking into publishing the Player's Guide to Xoth on Lulu.com so it will be available in print. Since the PDF of the Player's Guide is free, the print-on-demand version will only cost whatever Lulu.com charges for printing and shipping.

Is there a bundle to order both the pdf and print version? I only see them listed as separate orders on the site.

Unfortunately I'm not able to offer bundles due to the way orders are handled: When you buy the PDF, you are ordering directly from me, and when you buy the print version, you are ordering from Lulu.com.

Hi,

"Land of the Silver Lotus" is a stand-alone sword and sorcery adventure module for character levels 4-6, written for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and usable with any fantasy roleplaying game.

Narcotic plants, hostile pygmies, giant slugs, and ancient evils -- face them all in this mini-campaign!

Land of the Silver Lotus wrote:

"Sail due east from Iraab, O traveller, to the verdant isles where pale blossoms sway in the moonlight to the throb of native drums. But beware the treacherous hidden reefs, which can shatter a ship and send you to a watery grave before you even set foot on dry land!

If you can make landfall and offer a satisfying bribe to Tiku, the decadent Pygmy King, there are great riches and marvelous sights awaiting you deep within the inland jungles. That is, if you dare to venture past the bleached bones of countless fools who have gone before you into the places that are taboo ..."

The book includes amazing original artwork by Kent Burles, and cartography by Billiam Babble and Kosmic Dungeon.

The book is available both as a PDF and in print. Check out this page for more information:

And by the way... did you know that there is a FREE, 60-page Player's Guide to the World of Xoth available on the website? It contains chapters on the Races, Cultures, Classes, Swords, Sorcery, Cults, Lands, and Legends of Xoth; in short, everything you need to roll up a character and start playing in the World of Xoth! The book is packed with all-new, all-original artwork especially commissioned for this book, including illustrations of each and every race of Xoth. Hi, thanks for your feedback.

The part about XP penalties for multiclassing is a leftover from 3E rules that should have been edited out (and will be in a future revision of the book).

The spells with XP costs (there are a few) might stray from Pathfinder rules conventions, but the XP costs are there to prevent abuse by players. The DM is, as always, free to remove this cost if he feels it is unnecessary.

From the context it does seem like they intend to re-publish the whole thing using Pathfinder! :-) But to get a definitive answer, you should ask the same question in that thread...!

So when do we get the next epic-sized AP/anthology à la XP #1? ;)

Yes, when, indeed?!? :-)

The short-term plan is to publish another "regular-size" adventure module, XP4: The Land of the Silver Lotus.

As a general rule, I'd rather publish one regular module each year, than spending 4-5 years working on a mega-module. That said, I do have some ideas that would merit bigger books. Time will tell, I guess... ;-)

Is the TSGB PFRPG? The site implies this, but I remember it as OGL/d20. I only have the Legend version.

XP1: Spider-God's Bride was released in 2008 and uses the 3.5 rules. It hasn't been updated specifically for Pathfinder, but converting on the fly shouldn't pose too much of a problem given the new Player's Guide and also the Pathfinder material available (bestiaries, npc gallery, etc) in the PRD.

XP2: Song of the Beast-Gods and XP3: The Citadel beyond the North Wind are both written specifically for Pathfinder.

Hi,

I'm finishing up a new adventure module for the World of Xoth (module XP4: Land of the Silver Lotus) and I need a talented cartographer to turn my dungeon map sketches into something a bit more polished.

I don't care if you are a professional, semi-professional or amateur, as long as the results look good. All work will be paid, at rates agreed upon, at the time of delivery of the maps.

Please contact me using the contact form here:

http://hyboria.xoth.net/about.htm#contact

Or, if anyone has a recommendation, feel free to post a reply to this thread and include links to any good cartographers.

Thanks!

What do we have to do to get you to write a full-blown epic sandbox/setting-book/AP in Xoth, using the ethnicity-rules from the blog and limited spellcasting as in the original anthology? When do we get more modules?

The good news is that XP4, Land of the Silver Lotus, is about 60% done. It will have great original artwork by Kent Burles.

After that there's lots more material waiting to be taken from my notes and turned into publishable modules, including a jungle sandbox and a (possibly epic) desert nomad adventure.

Hi, I'm Morten, aka Thulsa, the author of the World of Xoth adventures.

As far as I know, you don't have to create a PayPal account just to pay, you can also pay directly via a credit card on the PayPal site (ie without being a registered user).

Glad you enjoy Xoth! As a fan of all things S&S, I've pre-ordered a copy of Primeval Thule; I like most of the artwork I've seen so far, and hopefully the setting and adventures coming out will be good as well. On the topic of S&S settings, there's also the 1E-style "Astonishing Swordsmen & Sorcerers of Hyperborea" (http://www.swordsmen-and-sorcerers.com/products), which I haven't had a chance to buy/read myself yet, but which looks interesting.

Anyway, if anyone has any questions about the World of Xoth, feel free to ask away...!

"The Citadel beyond the North Wind" is a brand-new, stand-alone sword and sorcery adventure module for character levels 8-10, written for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and usable with any fantasy roleplaying game.

Quote:

There is a land far to the north, past the black hills of Lamu and beyond the frozen moors of Tharag Thule; a dreary land of mist and thunder, where the white people of Yg have dwelt since ancient times. The free men of Yg tremble when fools dare to utter the name of Arkanth Mal, witch-king of Galuga, for he is the greatest and oldest of the tyrants of this primeval land.

And now, the drunken bards of Tartuun whisper, the witch-king of Galuga seeks a new queen. For his minions sweep across the borders of Tharag Thule and Lamu, slaying men and taking only young women as slaves back to Galuga, the Citadel beyond the North Wind!

As a regional sandbox, this module also details the never-before-seen northern lands and races of the World of Xoth.

Original art by Mark Allen.

Say I want to run a Hyborian Age, Bare-chested-barbarians-fighting-giant-spiders-and-snake-cultists, style game. A game where your characters run around attempting to solve the riddle of steel. Where they sneak into towers dedicated to ancient gods to steal the fire-gems of Hash-Seth-Ta, used as eyes in the mighty statue of the two headed God of Pain, Raman-Kur.

Sounds very cool, exactly the type of campaign I like to run myself:

So here's the question - Anyone have any experience running a Pathfinder game in which Defense Bonuses (perhaps a-la Star Wars Saga or D20 Modern) are used instead of Armor Bonuses? Sure, you could have Karmag The Northman running around in Plate Armor and a Large Steel Shield, but would that truly work for the feel of the game? I think not.

I suppose one could use Bracers of Armor and Rings of Protection and Necklaces of Armor, sure, but would that truly evoke the feel? Maybe?

I haven't introduced any alternative AC rules (such as defense bonuses) into my campaign, just going by the book.

I do allow "Training", which takes time and costs money, and grants the character an inherent bonus to AC (similar to Bracers of Armor). Sure, it's expensive compared to normal armor, but it can't be removed or stolen (the players like that!) and besides, characters need something to spend money on in a low-magic world without magic item shops.

That said, for "bare-chested barbarians", you could use the Savage Barbarian archetype, which gets Naked Courage, and take the Guarded Stance rage power, and combine it with a high Dex.

Sounds fascinating. Could you share a few details about the setting?

The adventure takes place in the World of Xoth, an original sword and sorcery setting inspired in part by Howard's Hyboria, Smith's Zothique, Leiber's Nehwon, Carter's Lemuria, Saunders' Nyumbani, and the Wilderlands from Judges Guild. And perhaps a little bit of Lovecraft's Dreamlands.

In short, if you like vintage sword and sorcery, you should enjoy this. Of course, it's not difficult to use the adventure in your own campaign setting, although the text makes some assumptions about the types of magic and monsters that is common.

The previous book, "The Spider-God's Bride", was a collection of 10 adventures and also contained a fair bit of background material. On the product page for that book

http://xoth.net/publishing/xp1

there is a free preview that you can download, and the first 10 pages or so of that preview contains background material that should give you a feel for the setting.

No, as anyone who's spent time in the woods with a compass can tell you.

Good point! Actually, I was a boy scout a long time ago, so I have spent a fair amount of time in the woods with map and compass.

I just wanted to ask on the forum because I suspect that some of my players will claim that they can't get lost as long as they always know where north is (ie 1 rank in Survival = never lost).

Seems like the consensus (at least so far) is that you still need to make those DC 15 checks if the situation calls for it.

- thulsa

The Spider-God's Bride and Other Tales of Sword & Sorcery

According to the Survival skill description, you need a Survival DC 15 check to avoid getting lost, whenever the situation (the DM) calls for it. I guess that's typically if you are in the middle of the jungle, or in heavy fog, or something like that.

It also says "If you are trained in Survival, you can automatically determine where true north lies in relation to yourself."

But wouldn't it be impossible to get lost if you know where true north is all the time? Does this mean that anyone who is trained in Survival can ignore the rules about getting lost?

How do you interpret this?

"The Spider-God’s Bride and Other Tales” is a collection of ten blood-red sword and sorcery adventures, inspired by the pulp era tales of Robert E. Howard and Clark Ashton Smith. Venture in the footsteps of Conan the Cimmerian, Satampra Zeiros of Uzuldaroum, Imaro of Nyumbani, and other fabled thieves, reavers and slayers!

The book is 200 pages and contains 10 stand-alone adventures that takes the player characters through grey mountains, steamy jungles and bleak deserts, to lost islands, ancient temples, great castles, sinister catacombs and forbidden vaults. There are more than 40 dungeon and city maps, and several chapters (around 40 pages) of rules variants, new classes, races, feats, spells and equipment. (There is also a 66-page Conversion Booklet for those using the Conan RPG system by Mongoose.)

The book is available both as a PDF and in print. Check out this page for more information, including a preview:
