Thanks every one but im just gonna make the pegasus 4 levels lower and make it so that it gets the celestial template when it reaches level 11 not the paladin. This way the pegasus wont become celestial until the paladin is level 15. I think that should help balance it out correctly. and come on what 10 level charcter cant already fly so having a horse that can wont make much difference overall. Wizards can learn the spell fly at level 5 so yeah i think it should be ok.
But thanks alot for eveyones input.

ok dont worry about it as its not a player its a group of ncps the players interect with.
i just wanted to know how the players would go about getting a pegasus or an unusal mount as one of them is playing a druid and they all asking how the paladins got there mounts as pegasus as my druid wants a hippogriff. and it a bit late to change the whole game now as they have known about the pegasus knights since the start of the campaign.

i think i may just do level adjustment from 3.5 if pathfinder hasnt got an equilavent and but just scale it back a bit.

yeah i understand all that but in the d&d 3.5 rules there was a level adjustment rule that let you you get a pegasus as a mount

its in the dungeons masters guide page 204 and 205

im just wondering if there was any similar rules in pathfinder or would i have to just do a jury rig build of a custom pegasus as paladin mount and have it as a few levels lower on the mount table then a normal mount

so if my level ten paladin wanted a pegasus instead of it being level ten on the animal companion table could i say make it level 6 and if it was level 6 would it then become celestial when the paladin got to level 11 or when the pegasus got to level 11 which would be paladin level 15

Hey all im a dm and im building a world and im having trouble with some of the rules regarding mounts.

i have a group of paladins that at level ten get a pegasus as a mount.

now i vaguly remember a rule in 3.5 where if you took a pegasus as a mount it had to be a certain amount of levels below your normal mount to make up for the extra abilities.
the problem is i cant seem to find this any where in the pathfinder books or rules for mounts except the rules stated in the core rulebook under druids.

if any one knows the rules could they please make me a pegasus mount for a 10th level paladin and post it up on here thanks.
