I sometimes ask my players to roll a number of d20s in advance and write them down in order, I will then use those rolls as needed for any results where I don't want to tip them off to the results or situation. Just apply the appropriate bonus they have for the needed skill check.
The only thing with this is that you need to keep them where you can't see the list. It encourages DM metagaming to know what the next set of player rolls are.

This. I let my players know that whenever they roll sense motive/perception/anything against another player, I will always roll behind my screen just to prevent metagaming.

Hey all, my group and I have been playing 4th edition for a long while now in the Ebberon setting. Unfortunately, the group kind of fell apart and it's me, the GM and a bunch of new players. Fortunately, both me and the GM were wanting to switch to pathfinder, though we're staying in the same setting. We also both desire my character to continue on.
Although I'm quite comfortable with the Pathfinder rule system, I'm not very advanced in it and am not quite sure where to begin in creating my character. We're starting at level 10, by the way.

My character was a changeling (I'll be using the racial stats from the 3.5 Ebberon book) character that was somewhat of a complex (but IMO awesome!) build. I made him a hybrid rogue/sorcerer multiclassed into Monk. This meant that he had the abilities of a rogue in terms of sneak attack and sneaking/mechanical skills, while having some awesome backup skill from sorcerer and instead of weapons he would use his fists for good damage (while keeping the sneak attack). He was focused into Dex and Cha.
The magic/rogue combination allowed me to do some awesome stuff, such as creating a small sandstorm to give me cover so I can sneak and do more sneak attack damage, or creating magical walls or three copies of myself. I went for the synergy with this and not the pure magic damage route.
Now, I understand that I can't make a carbon copy and I'm fine with some things such as maaaybe losing sneak attack. I'm mostly wanting to go for high damage/decent utility combo and probably want to keep trapfinding in there if at all possible.

Are there any suggestions for where to start with this? Multiclass magus and monk, maybe, with one level of rogue? I'm afraid of MAD, however. And Magus is INT based, so maybe sorcerer is the better option...?

Yeah. Thoughts.
Please :)
