I second The Postman by David Brin. Where much post-apocalyptic fiction is very cynical, The Postman is much more optimistic. Most of the "after the bomb" stories, especially from the '80s, degrades into some kind of extemist fantasy where the heroes re-build civilization without all the "weakness" found in the pre-bomb society, The Postman embraces many of the values our post-Enlightenment society holds dear.

I actually enjoyed the movie, as it holds true to the tone of the book. It is not a great movie, but it was hardly a disaster. Even David Brin likes it.

I live in the PAX River/Waldorf/St. Mary's City area of Southern Maryland and I am looking for a group. Game stores local to me include High Tide Games and Big Larry's Comics. While I am specifically posting about Pathfinder on this board, I am willing to play almost any tabletop RPG and I am open to adventure paths. I have been playing D&D and its offspring since 1988 and I am a lawyer during the day. I usually GM, but I have no objection to being a player.

What is an Iconic?

I like the idea of making sure he can flank, I'll probably do that. I also like the idea of making sure there is some kind of catch phrase that is silly early in the relationship and creepy at the end.

I'd be interested in reading a Pathfinder short story anthology like the one done for Monte Cook's Arcana Unearthed. I would prefer short story collections because people seem to be willing to try different things in that kind of format. Most of the shared world novels tend to run together in my brain as generic epic fantasy. I honestly can't even remember what setting most of them were in, sometimes I can't even remember the company. I just have a vague memory of the plot. Short stories tend to stick with me more in this kind of situation.

So last night I read through The Skinsaw Murders. I cannot wait to run this scene in a game! I like to have at least one NPC a session that I get up out of my chair for and really put on a show. I already have a pretty good idea of how I want to RP his different personalities and the slow buildup from whimpering coward begging to help to Batman villain level theatrical psychopath. I am even planning on making a mask up with a picture of the player of the obsession's face on it. So what has everyone else done for this scene?
