I really appreciate that your setting really allows for this. I'm still hoping to return and post more frequently. I haven't been feeling Daen, but I think that is more on me than that corrupt bastard.
Was just checking in to see how you folks are doing. Things are a little crazy here Florida, at least on my side (central, east coast). Tom will have to comment on the other side of the state. We have a lot of spring breakers who are still down here acting like idiots.
Other than that, the kids are home till at least April 15, most likely longer. And my faculty are largely unprepared for teaching online. But thankfully everyone is healthy and I've been slowly stocking up the last month.
Thanks all for the break! It was great to log in, see what was happening in the game with excitement, and not feel guilty. I hope to rejoin you all soon.
Gary
p.s. Jussi, I would love to chat with you more about the working remotely thing. As an IO Psychologist, I've been fascinated by these changes in our work conditions.
All, I've been struggling with some work issues lately and it has interfered with my posting behavior. As I've struggled with trying to meet my own expectations for the game, it has caused me some anxiety, which in turn has lead me to avoid the game, which further feeds those anxieties. After chatting with Kirsdrake a bit about this, I'm letting you know what is going on as I step away from the game to focus on work. Daen is going on a run for another job or will be back at the agency if needed, as the DM calls. Once I have things a little more under control, I'll talk to you all again about reintegration.
If anybody has a dead person from their past that might "haunt" them, and you don't mind sharing the story with me and Alua, send me a pm. I'd love to include some of your ghosts in the spirits that she interacts with. I'll be careful not to overuse it.
I'll send a PM, but I'll post it here too. I left a lot of the background rather broad incase Jussi wanted to utilize it. I figured I would fill in the exact details and update it as we went along. But Daen is here after his master died in an accident that left him scarred (not that you can see it) and somewhat ostratrazised from the local artificer community. Unless Jussi sends us something privately, I'll plan on putting together a few more details into my character's backstory under Daen.
Kirsdrake, the crunch change ended up being really minor - I took out the feat you indicated and replaced it with Precise shot. Should I post the crunch here again?
1) I think you will need some sort of tie-in with the artificer (or someone else). Maybe the artificer has repaired you in the past. Maybe you performed some service for him (offered to pay something for him with your 'extra' money, helped him out with some bullies, etc.). The artificer, seeing as you were wandering without aim, could have then asked you to join him in this "great investment".
Actually, I like this a lot. I've been going back and forth about Kirsdrake's required change. As small as it was, it changed a few things about the character to me. Maybe my Daen seemed familiar to him? Perhaps Daen left him in the hallway to wake up?
I don't know, but I think it helped me solidify my mods.
- Extraordinary Artisan... since this is supposed to be a low-funds, low-magic campaign (for the players, not the whole world), I'm not too keen on you guys doing lots of magical item crafting... making the occasional single use/limited use item is OK, particularly if you are making something you'll need for a particular case but no-one has the spell on their lists, I don't think it's a good idea to invest in crafting feats... I'd suggest you switch this to something more suitable, even though it does make sense background-wise
- Favored Class bonuses... in PF, a character chooses a favored class on the 1st level, and whenever he takes another level of said class, he gets a bonus of one extra HP or SP, his choice, made every time he takes such a level... some races gain extra options for favoring certain classes, and a human Artificer can also add 1/2 points to his Ingenuity Pool.
- Crossbow damage 1d4... a typo, I assume. Medium-size crossbow deals 1d6 damage.
- Hit points... I believe the usual we have been using in various games is max on 1st level, half+1 on the following ones. At least, I kind of remember it being so, so might as well roll like that here. So that'd mean you have exactly the right amount of HP. Well done, Sir!
Just got back in town. I'll get started on this tonight! I'll also try to get caught up on all the other posts!
Dear all, I will be gone for a few days. I'll be back next Wednesday. Between now and then I'll be traveling with little availability. Sorry I didn't let folks know sooner. I was so excited to hear from Jussi, the holidays, and everything else it made me forget.
GM Kirsdrake, two quick issues:
1) I will be taking Fabian's advice and editing my fluff and characteristics and sharing them in a more aesthetically please way. But please let me know if you have any feedback or specific details that you want me to work into the fluff or required changes to the crunch.
2) Do you need to add me and Daen as Players/Characters or is there somewhere that I need to do that myself?
Okay, I haven't figured out Alias yet, but soon! For now, here is the info I've been working with. Daen Aarland, Human Artificer - with his backround, I'm proposing that he is staying at the agency office, but 100% flexible. Lots still in progress, but mainly just providing this to get some feedback/thoughts.
Fluff:
Daen has spent the last several years training as an artificer. Due to an accident, his previous master is dead and Daen was released from his contract - no one else was willing to pick him up following the nature of his master’s death. He carries a secret shame related to his master’s work and/or death.
When the opportunity to join Sebastian’s limited liability agency, Daen jumped at the chance. He brings the punch and can provide situational aids to help the group investigate. With the new warforged on the team, Daen is excited to see what they can do together. With his witty negotiation, Daen now has a workshop/bedroom at the agency. Unfortunately, what he didn’t realize was that this now put him at call all night long.
Unfortunately, the new agency hasn’t taken off as they all expected. Because of his secret shame, Daen can’t take on the big jobs and opportunities available to someone of his training. Instead he is relegated to selling small charms and potions through a proxy (who takes a cut) and minor repairs/appraisal work that are also directed to the agency (with ads noting that he is available late). If he was properly registered and prepared to do business openly, these activities would bring considerably more, but there are benefits of living on the edge. (This lifestyle would bring in approximately 7.5gp a week, but I imagine all of this is poured back into supplies and cost of living).

Happy new year! I'm about to explore creating an Alias and uploading my information. Sorry for the silence the last couple days - lots of time with family and a 7 hour game of axis and allies. Cheers!
I'm working through feats right now. Those more familiar with low level artificers, let me know if you have any suggestions. My last artificer I picked up at lvl 20 - very different build.
Currently looking at Skill Focus (Use Magic Device) and Point Blank Shot. I was looking at exceptional artisan, but I don't see that on the Pathfinder feat list.
I agree an Artificer might be better option, and Tom's 'forged would certainly be thankful for someone who can repair construct's damage ;^)
And while it's certainly OK to build a character on Google docs, when you get close to the finished product please create an alias for it on these forums and post relevant information there, for ease of access. We all have multiple character aliases for past and current games, so you can use one of those as an example.
Yep! Just noting stuff out. I'll have to figure out the alias bit as I'm new to the forums.
Hi all! Its great to see some names of folks that I haven't played with in awhile! Its been too long!
I'm working through the comments now. My initial impression was that the group needed a tank; however, I saw some comments about an artificer. I'll start sketching up profiles of both - if you have strong feelings, please feel free to note them here or you can use this to see me working through the info or edit it as well: https://docs.google.com/document/d/14XgemuUT7CcIbHSx8c1z7nwNG2GxbxUwPs7yJKC a6DU/edit?usp=sharing
