I've been working on developing a character for my gaming group and she is a Wizard specializing in the fire school. One of her abilities, Fire Supremacy states: "In addition, whenever you are within 5 feet of a source of flame at least as large as a campfire, you can draw the fire around you for 1 round as a swift action. Anyone striking you with a melee weapon or unarmed strike takes an amount of fire damage equal to 1/2 your wizard level (minimum 1). Weapons with reach avoid this damage. All it states is the minimum size of the fire gathered. What if the wizard gathered a much larger flame than a campfire? What if they gathered the fire from say a burning building? Would this make it last longer than 1 round or maybe allow for more melee attacks to hit before being depleted? Is any of this stated somewhere or should it be left to the DM and group to decide how this behaves?
Unfortunately, the boneyard does not seem to have images for most of the items. I'm not really sure that I would want to order something before I can really see what it looks like. The only book I could find on there that had an image was part of a 7 dollar set (which is more than the character) and had a demon face (which is more demonic magics than generic spellbook). But thanks for the suggestion. Any other ideas out there?
More specifically, do these even exist? I have a fighter mage and have found a mini that I want to use. The problem is I have been unable to find any fighter-mage minis that I like. So, the one I picked was a fighter. My question is, is there anywhere I could buy attachments to glue to the miniature? More specifically a spellbook? That way I can add the mage element to a fighter mini and have the best of both worlds.
This is my first time as GM and I was looking to get some advice on running downtime in Sandpoint, but really any town. Do you make a map of the town, like you would a dungeon, for your players to walk or just let them interact as if they were already in certain parts of the town and just roll for what they are trying to do? An example would be a PC wizard wants to buy some new spells. Should I just let him roll as if he had already made it to the place he is going to buy them and have him start rolling for negotiating prices?I feel like a map would make it more immersive and engaging for the PCs. And, while I can find a map of Sandpoint with the main buildings marked on it. I can't find maps for inside the individual buildings (which would be nice for running events in those buildings). Should I just make more own, and if so, what resources can you suggest to help?

Actually Wish is a lvl 9 spell, so a scroll of Wish would be considered a Major Magic Item. When planning a hoard for a run, the cost of adding a Major Magic Item is 40,000 GP. Assuming that this is not the only item that players would find on the run means the hoard value would be even higher. For a lvl 1 run, a hoard surpassing 40,000 GP is a little excessive (unless you had a LOT of players). Now, i haven't GM'd a group close to lvl 12 but I imagine that a scroll of Wish would be more likely much closer to 12 (if not higher than 12) than it would be to lvl 1. |
