Because Pathfinder is a book, not a magazine, it won't be sent via Periodicals rate. It should thus arrive much more reliably (not to mention faster).

Vic, thanks for the info, dude. I'll still have to give it some thought, but the reliability factor was the real issue for me, more than the price jump. I also think receiving a .pdf version as part of a subscription is a great idea and applaude you guys for coming up with that. I think I'll still wait until the first issue hits the stands to decide whether to subscribe or not. Oh, who am I kidding, I'll probably end up subscribing now that I know it will reach me on time. If it doesn't, though, I'm coming to get you Vic :)

Considering that I'm a subscriber to Dungeon and am just now getting issue #145 and issue #146 has already hit the stands... AND I never received my first issue even after they said they would remail it to me... AND the big jump in price... I think I'll pass. I will keep an eye out for it when it hits the stands, though.

You know, by time they get around to their meeting, I will have been deployed to Iraq... and back!

I saw this thread at the top again, my pulse quickens, as I think "YES! They've FINALLY had their meeting and someone has posted the first round of rejections!" Now I see it's only Zherog, ahem, "bumping" the thread to the top. Thanks, dude, for getting my hopes up.

We've got a few adventures in the Savage Tide adventure path that use victory points, and a few in Age of Worms used a similar mechanic. It's a really cool way to set up mass battles without having to deal with running a huge miniatures scale war, something that D&D simply doesn't handle well.

At this point, we'd certainly welcome an adventure that uses Victory Points and other elements from Heroes of Battle. Just make sure that the adventure is good too!

What a coincidence, I just submitted an adventure proposal Monday toward this end!

6) Tarrasque.
He's in my top ten monsters, that's for sure.

Hey, for the record, I was the first one who brought up the idea of using Tarrasque on this thread, so I want full credit, royalties, and rights to your first-borns!!!!

WAIT A MINUTE!!!!.... I need to rethink the whole first-born thing...

Hey, thanks guys for the info. I'm also a GH fan and would love to see an epic war take place in the Pomarj region. But maybe one that somehow incorporates the Tarrasque? The war is going badly for the good guys, but one of the leaders has discovered the location of the beast and a way to possibly control it. Unleashing the creature would dramatically tip the scales of war, and the heroes are sent on the quest. This could be whole AP right there -- setting the war and introducing the heroes to the current events of GH; the war goes badly for the good guys; the good guys have a plan, the Gods tell them there is a way to control and unleash the Tarrasque, but first they must find the secret of controlling the beast; learning the secret; venturing to the Tarrasque's lair; grand finale unleashing the Tarrasque, conquering the forces of darkness, and winning the war! Actually, kind of sounds like a Clash of the Titans theme, eh? This could even come on the heels of STAP, in which the Savage Tide has failed, but GH is still left shaken and torn in the aftermath, resulting in impending war...

Okay, so I've checked them out (briefly). I noticed the Tarrasque is used in Forgotten Realms, but wasn't the creature originally a feature of Greyhawk? I could swear I read somewhere, pre-3.5 and maybe even pre-2nd Ed., that the accursed thing sleeps somewhere in the Pomarj. Was it in 2nd Ed. Greyhawk boxed set? Or From the Ashes? Or was it the AD&D Greyhawk stuff? I can't remember. Or maybe I'm mistaken.

Bloodstone series and "How the Mighty Have Fallen" huh. I'll have to check those out. Thanks guys.

Time travelling to the time of the Rain of Colorless Fire sounds pretty cool too. Well, that is, before it starts raining.

Yeah, what about Tarrasque? I like the way you think Hagen. I can't recall any adventure that uses the Tarrasque. Can anyone else? And I believe the legend goes it slumbers somewhere in the Pomarj, or somewhere in that region, correct? Hmmmm...

Or how about starting up a new thread where you two can battle it out and leave this one for what it was meant for -- discussing the next Adventure Path. Hey, a new battle thread might be a cool attraction for the boards. You could call it Jade vs. Weiss, or Weiss vs. Jade, whatever. I think it would be very entertaining...

Oh hell no you don't. Like I said, Far Realm AP, world already under control, no-one knows, ala John Carpenter's "They Live!", Star Trek Voyager "Scorpion" backstory, heroes learn horrifying truth of it all. Oh, and the Tarrasque. Lets not forget the Tarrasque.

I would also like to see a Far Realm AP, but combined with the idea that the world is already under control. Yet no-one knows they are being controlled, ala John Carpenter's "They Live!" It could have a backstory similar to the Star Trek Voyager two-parter "Scorpion." Fluid Space; Far Realm. The Borg; Daruth. Species 8472; The Kaorti. Of course, the heroes learn the horrifying truth of it all, and set out on an epic quest to free their world.

You know I think I might have been able to write a proposal for a 12-part arc set in the world of my choosing in the time that it took to post all this. Just sayin'.

I just skipped over most of it, though that everlasting torch comment... now that was funny ;) I got a good laugh out of that one. No sarcasm intended, I really did think it was funny.

Anyway, what about Tarrasque? Remember him -- our good buddy the Tarrasque? Isn't it about time for him to wake up? Hasn't he slept long enough?

That's awesome Jason! Go Hawai'i gamers! There are tons of us by the way for all you mainlanders...no joking probably one in every five people I meet out here get down with the Dungeons and the Dragons...oh yeah!

Do you ever hit the open gaming at "Other Realms" on Monday nights in Ward Warehouse Jason? I try to go sometimes, but recently I've had rehearsals and haven't been able to make it out. We'll have to get a game together of Paizo-heads sometime soon. That would rock! Shoot me an email and we'll see if we can't arrange something.

No, I've never heard of "Other Realms" but then again I've only been on the island since February. I'm not sure where Ward Warehouse is -- across the street from the Farmer's Market? The shops next to the parking garage? Anyway, I wasn't aware they have a place for gaming there. I'm a paralegal specialist for the Army's JAG Corp and I work ridiculously long hours, so it would be tough for me to make Monday nights, but not impossible. The weekends work best for me. Still, definitely would like to get together for some gaming so I've sent you an email.

Nice to see a fellow DnDog gamer on these message boards. I'm running a game myself on that site. My user name is, you guessed it, jasonduke. I've noticed quite a few Dungeon adventures are run on DnDog, especially the adventure paths. True, pbp is slower than pnp tabletop (well, much slower!), but pbp games are just as fun, and in ways more creative because of all the writing involved. I'm glad to see you're running the Styes and Weavers -- I don't think anyone has started these games yet on the DnDog site, so I'll definitely drop in and check out your game.

Got a greenlight....my first for an adventure on my own, without the safety net that is the were_cabbages. I'm nervous as hell, but excited as all can be. I counted about 14 proposals that I sent in solo before I got one greenlit, if you count the handwritten manuscript I sent in in 1982 in response to the Dragon magazine adventure design contest.

Congratulations buddy.

B.A. in public relations last year from Arizona State University. I graduated with honors and earned a spot on the National Dean's List for 2005. I had some excellent job offers from both local and national companies, but instead, I joined the Army. Now I'm a paralegal specialist for the Army's JAG Corp. And please don't ask me why, because I'm still trying to figure that one out myself. Seriously though, it's a rewarding job and I'm happy to serve.

The Necromancer's Pet, eh? Welcome back, Jason. Kinda similar situation for me, too. My very first proposal was accepted and the adventure published then every proposal after that up until just a few months ago got rejected.

Heh, go figure. Though it's good to know I'm not alone. Yes, The Necromancer's Pet is my fifteen minutes.

Congratulations on your previous success and welcome back. Good luck for future success as well!!

Hey, thanks buddy. I appreciate it.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to these boards, though not to the magazine. I had an adventure published back in issue #73 and have decided to try my hand again at writing adventure proposals, so I suspect I'll be frequenting this thread more often.

Oddly enough, it was my first proposal to the magazine in 1996 that got accepted (Liz Baldwin was assistant editor at the time); everything that followed was rejected. I hung in there for more than three years, submitting an average of 3-5 proposals a month, then called it quits and moved on to other things.

Now I'm back and ready to try again. I recently emailed a proposal, but judging from previous posts in this thread, it seems I may have a long wait ahead of me. Still, seeing that one adventure make it into the magazine was worth it.
