I am making a Tengu Warpriest that uses lots of natural attacks early on and later on will use a Gladius in his main hand and use his natural attacks as secondary. I'm just looking for advice on how to make my character better and maybe some ideas of magic items I should strive for on my warpriest. Currently we are playing Wrath of the Righteous and the party is only level 1. I'll briefly explain my thoughts behind things as to why I have chosen those abilities.

16 str
12 dex
14 con
10 int
15 wisdom
7 charisma

Traits: Child of the Crusades, Reactionary (I took reactionary so my starting init bonus at level 1 is +7)

1) Improved Intiative
1) Weapon Focus Claw (The weapon focus claw turns my 2 natural claw attacks into 1D6 weapons vs 1D3 weapons)
3) Weapon Focus Bite: (This brings my bite attack up to 1D6 from 1D3 via the Sacred Weapons warpriest ability)
3) Multiattack: Not much for me to really take here. I don't meet the requirements for a lot of the feats I plan to take
4) Wsidom stat increase
5) Weapon Focus Gore: By level 5 I am hoping to have enough money for a Helm of the Mammoth Lord.
6) Weapon Focus Gladius (this is to go with Natural Attacks making it so when I attack with my main hand weapon my natural attacks only have a -2 instead of a -5)
7) Power Attack (So I can buff the damage of all my attacks)
8) Dexterity stat increase (So I can start taking grapple attacks for later)
9) Improved Grapple: (This is so I can work towards Hamatula Strike)
9) Snake Style: (This is to make my 2 natural claw attacks count as piercing damage)
11) Hamatula Strike: (This feat allows me to make an instant grapple check whenever I hit with a piercing weapon. I will be wearing armor spikes so that I can deal armor strike damage with each grapple granted by Hamatula strike. I've spoken to multiple people on the boards and they've told me based on the wording of Armor Spikes and Hamatula Strike these abilities and items would synergize)
12)Strength stat increase
12)Weapon Focus Armor Spikes: (This is to turn my Armor Spikes into Sacred Weapons and have them deal Sacred Weapon damage with each grapple)
13) Improved Critical Gladius: (So that my Gladius can threaten more crits)
15) Blessed Striker: (This is so that all my attacks can be considered good aligned since we're going to be fighting lots and lots of demons)
15) Extend Spell: (This is to make my buff spells last longer. Not sure what I should do here feat wise)
16) Strength stat increase
17) Improved Critical Claws: (This is where I start to get unsure of what I should get)
18) Greater Grapple: (Still unsure what would be best for my character here)
19) Critical Focus: (Again not sure what to do for this feat. I went critical focus to help confirm any crits I might get from my previous taking of improved critical 2x)
20) Stat increase Dex

I plan to either get a wand or a rod of Strong Jaw spell to make my natural attacks deal 3D8 damage instead of 2D8. At the moment here are how my attacks look without being buffed by spells that I would cast during battle this is just basic stuff.

Gladius: +20/+15/+5 2D8+4
Bite: +18 2D8 +2
Clawx2 +18 2D8 +2
Gore: +18 2D8 +2

I'm really unsure of what sort of items to look for my warpriest. It seems unbuffed my attacks are pretty low and my spell save DCs on spell are low as well. I think with the right spells I should be able to get like a +7 bonus from strength/morale/luck to my attacks and damage. I'm also open to adding other levels of things such as ranger for favored enemy etc. I'm pretty knew to the game so I don't really know what all is out there that would be synergistic with my warpriest.

Thanks for taking the time to read this
Greg

If my warpriest is using natural weapons such as claws and I have the earth blessing. Can I pick my claws to give my attacks 1d4 acid damage or would I have to pick a single claw to give it 1d4 acid damage?

At 1st level, you can touch one
weapon and enhance it with acidic potency. For 1 minute,
this weapon emits acrid fumes that deal an additional 1d4
points of acid damage with each strike.

Are my claws considered 1 weapon? I'm guessing they're considered two weapons since I attack with each one? but I'm just trying to make sure.

Thanks
Greg

Hello, thank you for taking the time to read this question. I was wondering if there was any possible way to do the following.

lets say I am using a Gore attack piercing and Bite attack piercing as well. I have the feat Hamatula Strike, Improved Grapple and Greater Grapple. Would there be any scenario in which I could do this.

Hit with my Gore weapon tusks. Deal damage. Then make my grapple check from Hamatula Strike. If that succeeds I would deal them 2D8 damage from my armor spikes? Is that how that works? Then as a free action I could break the grapple and now attempt to hit with my Bite attack. If that was to hit I can make another grapple check and if that succeeds I hit for another 2D8 damage from my weapon spikes?

Here is What Hamatuka Strike says.
Benefit: Whenever you damage an opponent with a piercing weapon, you can immediately make a grapple check; success means the opponent is impaled on your weapon and you both gain the grappled condition. While the opponent is impaled, as an attack action you may make a grapple check on your turn at a -4 penalty to damage the opponent with your weapon, even if your weapon cannot normally be used in a grapple.

I posted a question post on the advice section and a poster told me it was in the wrong section so that's why I'm asking here. He/She answered the question but worded it with a "Not as I read it, no." I also, didn't post that the character would have Improved Grapple and Greater Grapple if that makes any difference to the previous answer of the question.

Thank you
Greg

My apologies, I didn't see the rules questions section. Thank you for your response.

Hi everyone, first I want to say thank you for taking the time to read this post and answer my questions. I'm just trying to make sure I understand the rules clearly when making this character. I'm a new player to the Pathfinder system so I just want to make sure that I'm doing everything correctly. My apologies if some of these questions seem dumb :(

I'm going to make a Warpriest and it says that as a bonus feat I get a weapon focus of my choice. Does that mean that at level 1 I would get whatever feat I want as long as I meat the requirements plus that extra weapon focus feat?

I'm planning on making a Tengu Warpriest with the alternate racial traits of Claw attack. So with my starting feats I was hoping to choose weapon focus claw and weapon focus bite. I'd like to confirm that if I do this that my weapon focus claw/bite would act as sacred weapons and start off with dealing 1D6 damage.

Next I am wondering about the damage bonus of my weapons. Say my Tengu Warpriest has 14 Strength. Would all of my natural attacks be 1d20 to hit +2 from my strength. Then say I did hit I would deal 1d6 damage +2 from my strength?

Now this next one is skipping ahead many levels and planning for the future. Say my character is level 20 with pretty nice magic items and now my strength is 20.

a Helm of the Mammoth Lord (weapon focus gore)
Wand of Strong Jaw (you enhance the power of that creature's natural attacks. Each natural attack that creature makes deals damage as if the creature were two sizes larger than it actually is) So this would make my 2D8 natural sacred weapons be treated as if they were large so they would deal 3D8 damage right?

Now lets say I have a longsword in 1 hand with my 20 strength and I'm level 20 (weapon focus longsword). Do I still get my natural attacks at full BAB and full strength bonus?

I would attack 3x with my main handed longsword
To Hit: +15BAB +5 strength bonus +5 sacred weapon Dmg: 2D8 +5 strength +5 Sacred weapon
To Hit: +10BAB +5 strength bonus +5 sacred weapon Dmg: 2D8 +5 strength +5 Sacred weapon
To Hit: +5BAB +5 strength bonus +5 sacred weapon Dmg: 2D8 +5 strength +5 Sacred weapon

Natural attacks
To Hit: 1 Claw +15BAB +5 strength Dmg: 3D8 +5 strength
To Hit: 1 Bite +15BAB +5 strength Dmg: 3D8 +5 strength
To Hit: 1 Gore +15BAB +5 Strength Dmg: 3D8 +5 strength

Next we move onto Armor Spikes. For a medium creature Armor Spikes deal 1D6 damage. Lets say I take Weapon Focus Armor Spikes and they now fit into my Sacred Weapon catagory and at level 20 deal 2D8 damage. If I was to take the feat Hamatula Strike which says the following.

How would a scenario work with this. Are my Claw, Bite and Gore attacks considered piercing? Would I be able to do the following

I could do that another time for my 1 claw attack assuming I have a longsword in my main hand? or 2 claw attacks if I am not using my longsword?

Thank you
Greg

Thank you for all the replies everyone. I have a good grasp of the character I want to play now.

Hello everyone, I'm a brand new player to Pathfinder, but I have played 3.5 in the past. I'm looking to build an offensive spell casting cleric that is great at buffing allies and debuffing enemies. If anyone has a build for me to peak at or can point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you
Greg
