Saw this the other day on kickstarter and would love to see it finished. Its looks like a amazing story. Described as Facebook, but nobody gets rich. Has some interesting interview clips with Gygax discussing the game as well as the huge "dnd is evil" theme of the 80's. Hope this gets funded. Check it out... http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/andrewpascal/dungeons-and-dragons-a-doc umentary
If a magus cast a touch spell that allows him a touch attack for multiple rounds, can he deliver the touch attack each round through his weapon, or only on the first round when the spell is actually cast? For example, a 4th level magus uses spellstrike to cast Frostbite and delivers the attack through his weapon. Frostbite allows you to use the touch attack one time per level before the spell is gone. So, for 3 rounds after can he still use his weapon to deliver the spell attack or must he choose either a weapon attack for regular weapon damage or the touch attack to deal the spell damage? I hope I am not confusing anyone. I'm kind of confusing myself. Thanks for any help.
I saw on the ST boards that there was a request for journals detailing a group's adventures in the camaign. I have posted journal entries from my players in that thread. Just wanted to let people know who may have been interested in reading them. We are only 2 sessions in. I will post more as I get them.
I am really looking forward to the Skull and Shackles AP that starts in March and have started working on a character concept. You guessed it, he's a pirate....I'm thinking either straight gunslinger or gunslinger/rogue acrobat. I'll likely go straight gunslinger (I am an optimizer and hate splitting classes as a general rule). I want him to be able to have his sward and pistol out at the same time. I see visions of close combats on ships stabbing the guy in front of me and then shooting at a guy coming over the side farther down the ship. How can I make this work? I'm not looking at getting more than one attack like TWF, I just want to have the sword in one hand and the pistol in the other so I can alternate what I'm attacking with each round. How can I make this work? Thanks for any help you can give me.
Can the ghost touch weapon special ability be put on a ranged weapon? It is not listed in the ranged weapon special ability chart. If not, does anyone have any idea why? Is there something about it that would seem broken? I was looking at doing an archery style ranger with favored enemy undead. Hoping to get the ghost touch ability on my bow for all the incorpreal undead out there. Thanks for the help.
I'm thinking of picking up the BB for my oldest two kids for Christmas (10 year old girl and 11 year old boy). I'm just curious how many players will be needed for it. Does it assume the standard 4 person party, or is it more open to more/less players? Living in the bible belt, I fear it will be very difficult to convince parents of my kid's friends to come over and play a fantasy RPG.
I am getting ready to run ST fr my group and have a concern about one of the monsters. The Ashborne Arachnae Mother at area A8 of ST2 is listed as CR 12. My concern is her poison. DC 26 Fort, 1/round for 6 rounds, 2d8 STR damage! Is this for real? Could this be a typo? I know she is a high CR monster, but the 2d8 Str damage just seems very nasty. I can't think of any other poison that does that kind of ability damage. I've been playing for a long time, but I'm no expert in the monster department so I was hoping for some help here. Should I adjust the poison or is it correct as is written? Thanks for your help.
Has anyone done a printable map of the Camp for Slumbering Tsar? I'm about to start running it for my group and I would love to have a player map to hand out. I hate to buy the PDF just to print a single map. I know some folks do all kinds of home made handouts and such and was hoping someone could point me to some. Also, any other advice or stuff to point out would be very helpful. Thanks everyone.
I'm not sure how to do this, but I want to receive the last book of the Carrion Crown adventure path and cancel the subscription. The order email says that you are shipping the first book of the new AP with the last of Carrion Crown. I think that is why they tried to charge my card for $34.37,right? Can you please take the other book off the order and then try again? I got paid today so the money is in there now. Is there anything else I need to do? Thank you for your time. By the way, I'm not canceling the subscription because I'm unhappy with anything, just that money is very tight and Carrion Crown will last me a good year. That's plenty of gaming for the time being. Thanks again.
I've recently picked up the first 3 books of the Slumbering Tsar campaign from Frog God Games. I'm really digging the adventure, but I want to set it on Golarion. What suggestions can you give me for... 1: where to set the camp and the desolation? 2: what demon prince to replace Orcus with? Thanks very much for any advice you can give!
Are the maps in th folios meant to be handed out to players, or do they have the same important location markings from the books? I hope I am asking this right. As an example: the map on page 27 of Haunting of Harrowstone. Notice it has R5 listed on the map, which is something the players should find on their own. Handing this map as is to a player would say... " Hey, there is something in these 2 areas. You should go look around there." Will the folio map of this location have the same markings? I know I could draw the map myself, leaving out the markings for R5, but my drawing is terrible, and the players would miss out on the awesome map that has been provided. Sorry for such a long post asking such a simple question. Thanks for your help.
I just ordered the flying bases. It said they are a special item that is ordered every few weeks, with a shipping estimate of 12-51 days. Am I sure to have these shipped in that time frame? I just want to make sure I am not waiting 6 months for enough people to order them before you guys put the order in with the company that makes them. I'm new to the whole buying stuff online thing so I have a few worries about these types of things. Thanks in advance.
I want to subscribe to the Adveture Path to get Carrion Crown, but I wanted to know how the money was drafted from the account. We tend to get really low in the bank account some weeks, and I would hate to have 30 bucks left to make it to payday and then get 20 drafted for the AP. Is there a set date the money comes out each month that I can plan on, or is it a random date when they just happen to ship it each month. Thanks for the help.
I'm having a hard time deciding between a bigger threat range (meaning more crits), versus a larger multilpier ( more damage on each crit). Just thought I would ask for suggestions from the community. An exotic weapon is fine, but it has to be one handed. I want to take the shield focus feats to help the AC. So, what do you folks think? Thanks.
The first line of the feat says you can call you ediolon an additional time per day. Then the description of the benefit says you an add +2 to an ability score when you summon it. Does it do both, or is it one of the errors? if it is an error, which does it do, the extra summon or the +2 ability score? I'm trying to make my summoner for tonight's game. Thanks for any help.
I want to know if this spell will make the target be affected by enhancements to my bow. For instance, if I use the spell on a human foe, I get to use my favored enemy bonus v/s giants against him as if he were a giant. Would the giant bane and hunting abilities on my bow also affect him, or just my standard bonus for favored enemy? So far I've been playing just adding my base favored enemy bonus and no weapon abilities against that enemy. I just wanted to know what others thought. Thanks in advance.
I will be getting into Indy Wednesday afternoon and was hoping to find a game that could take a few more players. Does anyone know of any games that night, or is anyone intrested in getting one going? I would like to do a Society game, but am willing to play anything. If you know of anything or are intrested in scheduling one, please let me know. Thanks.
With the con getting closer, my character is not going to hit the level 3 mark I was shooting for. He will only be level 2 by the time we get there. I am scheduled for 3 PFS events and now am getting worried I may not be able to find a group with characters close in level. Everyone else I've talked to has mid level characters, very few seem to have 1st and 2nd level. I know the sub-tiers are there to make it easier to make a table, I'm just worried about how many people will actually have characters level 1-3. And how many of those will actually be in the same slots as me. Anyone who has played at large conventions before, how difficult was it for you to find the right level table?
I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me create Strahd in Pathfinder. I'm going to be running the old "Ravenloft" adventure from 1st edition and have quite a workload to convert it. I thought Strahd may be something someone else may enjoy working on, saving myself some time. If anyone is intrested, please let me know.
First question is, what is a session sheet? Is that something you have to keep a copy of for everey game you GM? Or does it take the place of a chronicle sheet for any session you have ran and used as credit for your own character? Second, every time I try to download a session sheet to see what it is, I get a message saying the file could not be found. Anyone else having this issue? Thanks for your help.
Well, we are new to the Society play and are planning on having our second game this Sunday. Myself and another member of my group have agreed to take turns running the Society games to give both of us a chance to play. My question is regarding how to report these events. I registered our Society games on my profile as a Society home game and have an event number for it. When I am running the scenario, I report it with this number. When my friend runs a scenario (as he will this Sunday), does he report it under my event number or does he have to create his own? I'm sorry if that sounds confusing, but I'm not sure how else to word the question. Thanks for any help you can offer.
Hello everyone. I am currently gearing up to begin Curse of the Crimson Throne for my group. Rading through the adventures, I have become worried about the harrow readings. I'm afraid I just will not be able to do them justice. Something about the rules for the readings is going right over my head. It just seems like I am missing something every time I read them. My question is, do you think the AP would suffer if the harrow readings were removed. I was thinking of still doing sort of a mini-reading for each book, letting the PC's pull from the 9 cards tied to each book, but eliminating the full readings. Thanks for any feedback you can give.
I was just wondering if anyone knew what kind of presence Paizo would have at GenCon this year. Will they have a booth set up with products and staff? Will they be there at all? I know they have PaizoCon so wasn't sure if they would bother coming to Indy this year. I'm making my plans for Indy now and just wanted to know if I was going to be disappointed. I'm really hoping to find some Pathfinder games in the events as well. Thanks everyone!
If a bard and a rogue are flanking a goblin, and the bard uses the aid another action to give the rogue a +2 to attack against the goblin, does the bard still threaten the goblin as required to give the rogue his snaek attack bonus? I was not sure on this, since the bard is only attacking AC 10. It seems it could be ruled that he is not actually attacking the goblin, so he is not really a threat and the rogue would not get his bonus. I plan to rule that he does threaten and it does grant the sneak attack bonus for the rogue, but I wanted to get the opinion of the boards to be sure I was making the right call. Thanks everyone.
I am getting ready to run a military campaign. The warmage class from Complete Arcane really fits into my ideas but I'm concerned with the Pathfinder defensive casting rules. It is now much harder to cast without provoking, and while I get that for regular wizards and other casting classes, it does not fit well with the warmage class. They are trained specifically to cast spells in combat. Any ideas from the community of how I could work around this without messing up things? My only idea right now is giving Warmages another class ability at first level that would allow them (and only them) to cast on the defensive as it was in 3.5 ( concentration DC 15 + spell level instead of the 15 + double spell level. ) My concern here is that it would make it too easy to cast at higher levels since you now use your caster level + ability mod as the bonus to your concentration check. Any help would be very much appreciated.
I'm playing an archer type character in my current game. How would the folks on the boards feel about a feat that allows characters to attack with a bow in melee without provoking attacks of oppurtunity? There is a first level ranger spell called Arrow Mind that allows you to do this. I was thinking of creating a feat that would allow it. Any opinions or ideas? I think it would be really cool, I just am not sure how to tell if it would be too powerful or not. It doesn't seem that it would on the surface, but there could be things not so evident that would have an effect on it. I appreciate any advice or insight anyone may offer.
Hello everyone. This is a question that came up in our last game. We leveled up in the last game and our bard gained the loremaster ability. It says that a bard can take 10 on any knowledge skill check that he has ranks in. This must mean that you normaly can't take 10 on knowledge checks, but we can't find it in the rules. Can anyone point us to it? Thanks in advance.
My group is currently playing the RotRL adventure path. I want to make a second character to have ready in case my current character dies. My character now is a dwarven ranger who grew up as a slave in Riddleport. The character I want to make is a female 1/2 orc paladin. She grew up in the same slave camp. My dwarf looked out for her and told her all these great stories about Cayden Calien (not sure about the spelling) that helped her through. After the escape, she became a follower of the lucky drunk and became a paladin in his service. I wanted to know if you all had any thoughts on how the variant paladin rules from Unearthed Arcana ( I think ) would translate to PFRPG. I am looking at the chaotic-good paladin of freedom as she is a former slave. I am waiting on the book to ship, but I thought I would get some insight from the community while I wait. Thanks everyone. |
