Right, again, I am aware there are other ways of finding this, that is not the point of the post. Why does paizo not offer hex maps on their site? Surely they could offer this. Even perhaps a half page hex map and on the bottom of the page add some blank lines and other useful options to help the DM create this hex crawl.
So in ultimate campaign they give you an entire section how to build a hex based adventure, but they do not give a map of blank hexes. I understand there are other places to acquire hex grids, but it seems that they would have at least put up some downloadable blank hex paper up on the site or something. Just a suggestion.
I really enjoy the archetypes of pathfinder. I think it's a fantastic system that far exceeds the old 3.5 one of simply making new classes that are slightly different form an existing one. With that being said I would LOVE to see a pathfinder with only 4 classes, Fighter, Wizard, Rogue and Cleric. All other classes would be archetypes of those classes replacing whatever abilities. I would also like this version to be grid independent. Think this is viable? I know it most likely would never happen, but it's something to dream about.
I know that prestige classes are not a huge point in Pathfinder as they created an unwanted bloat in the original 3.5 rules and have generally been replaced with archetypes. That being said, since pathfinder's classes are more powerful in general than 3.5 so the prestige classes should be equally viable. ...ANYWAY... Is there some sort of prestige class compilation floating around out there? I always wondered why paizo didn't include the Archmage class and then that led to this question. Edit: It does seem there is one floating around out there ,found here... http://ronnmccarrick.com/rpg/baenrahl/pdfs/DnD3.5Index-Classes-Prestige.pdf Still looking for a nicer version , this one is fairly cluttered with 3.0>3.5 changes which make it look awful.
I suppose it could be done for just about any d20 based system, I just happened to think of it for pathfinder. So everyone has seen the basic Warrior, Rogue, Caster variants throughout the years in multiple games. I was thinking about something like that for pathfinder. A sort of generic class system then modifiying it from there. I wanted some base classes that could you could cherry pick abilities from other classes and then go from there. However It just occurred to me what about the other traits? So each attribute would have an associated class. You would have Warrior, Expert, Defender (for lack of a better term) , Mage, Diviner, and Noble. I'm trying to approach the pathfinder/d20 system while keeping the options , just selecting them in a different way. I'm coming from looking at games that you could build your own character however you want (hero system/ mutants and masterminds/ GURPS). I'm not saying this will work out, or wont, but I enjoy thinking about things like this and was wondering if anyone had seen something similar using pathfinder?
I think the worst thing about this is that you can not effectively make another game . I loved that about the OGL , for instance i got the WOW d20 book, and it had pretty much everything in there that would let me play the game. I only needed one book. Now I would HAVE to have the core books. Same with my everquest books. Man the gsl sucks. =/ Can't wait till august for Pathfinder beta. Ill sure be buying that ! |
