Congratulations Joanna, One of my favorite people (Pathfinder or otherwise) You've earned every star and then some! On behalf of the SD community, and Amir, Thank you! May there be many more cats, rangers, Wil-o-Wisps, perma-deaths and other fun things in your future!

Grats Joanna! Glad to be in that last game, it was fun! :)

I'm with Sitri in that I don't have a dog in the fight, plus I'm not even sure what the rule change was nor how it really affects characters with that feat chain. Having said that, it does seem odd that a game states right in its guide that you can change basically anything you want to in the first level of a character's life (to make sure you get what you wanted out of the character so you can enjoy it, etc..) that it sort of dumps on established characters when they go ahead and change rules, after the fact, that your character may be based on. Not very cool imo. Retraining is fine, but that is the players decision. Forcing a player to dump n amount of cash and prestige because you changed your mind just sucks and it will likely put the character behind the curve in advancement with gear and the like.

I've already said a few times what I think of the season 5 faction stuff. Not the worst thing for me, but also not far away from being awful. There have been quite a few suggestions and ideas on how to merge the pre season-5 and season-5 methods that I think would be a huge improvement.

I wouldn't recognize any 'staffers' other than Brock and Compton and I have yet to see either of them post anything that matches what the OP is saying.

congrats Katie :)
We have a lot of stars in SD :)

Quick dumb question, but since my highest level toon is only 8, I get to claim newbness.
Are you exempt from the normal rule of only being able to play a scenario once for credit when it comes to Eyes of the Ten? And if not, how would you get your second toon to/past the retirement blah blah? If you can play it more than once, how the heck do you stop yourself from meta-gaming the crap out of the scenario?
OK, maybe that was more than 1 quick dumb question...but you get the jist.. :)

Doublevison- my experience is if a group feels a certain way about things a new person entering that group will feel the same way as the group no matter what it is. As is evident by your post since you play in her area. I am not saying your viewpoints are invalid, but Katie and I played under those old systems and I would take this any day of the week over how it was run in s0-3. It is nothing against you personally, but that is the way things are typically.

That has been my experience also. But that just reinforces what I'm saying because now you have acknowledged it isn't just me, it is a group of people that have the same opinion. And all of those people have experience with the older missions and the new ones. Not all of the old ones were outstanding, but at least I knew my faction existed and was doing 'stuff'.

I started playing PFS earlier this year and have never even played "normal" Pathfinder. I was skeptical when I heard about the faction mission changes for this season, but I'm a newbie so I figured I would try it out in order to have some kind of informed opinion.
Having played most of the available season 5 scenarios available right now, I have to say that I completely agree with what Katie says. Not having faction missions anymore is terrible and it winds up as a complete disconnect resulting in no reason or impetus for anyone to even care about factions. This opinion is held by everyone I have talked to about this subject in my area. I have yet to meet anyone down here who thinks this direction is a good idea.

As far as I knew those missions were the only mechanic to interact with your faction, so now your toons are basically out on an island with no mobile phone service. It's a total bummer for me because I thought the interactions between all the factions and stories that could be produced from them was an unlimited source flavor for the game. Well, now I have no idea what any of them are doing. After reading the above comments I guess there is a way for me to find out whats going on with them, but frankly a) I think that should be in-game info, and b) no way in hell do I have the time troll the Paizo site to find all that info. Sorry, I've got other things to do. I really hope the peeps in charge re-introduce the missions or some other mechanic for characters to interact with the factions again because right now it is pretty terrible.

I'd reinstate the faction missions for seasons #0-4. They did a lot of work (and pretty well too) on the secondary success conditions, but I still ask for my missions and it's sad that they don't count for anything.

This times a thousand. I'm pretty new to PFS and Pathfinder. In fact I have only played Pathfinder as PFS, so I waited to experience a few games without the faction missions to see what it is like and I have to say.... total failure. Bring those back. Fix whatever you thought was wrong with them and bring them back.

Basically at this point I have no idea why I even have to pick a faction, nor why I should care about any of them any longer. I'm gaining fame and prestige for some faceless faction that I no longer interact with. So... whats the point? For lack of a better phrase... "it's lame".
