Im working on a new world.
Earth size and style.
13 months of 28 days, each 24 hours
Lunar rotation is 3 days per phase, standard phases similar to our Luna
2 moons

The first moon is the size of Luna, and at the 34* latitude (roughly where the country is located) the moon rises at @8pm, while the sun is still up, and sets about 8am, while the sun is already up on both equinoxes.Like the sun, this will see an extreme of 16 hours at solstice.

The second revolves around the world twice as fast, though it rotates on its axis at the same speed. Its also roughly 1/3rd the size of Luna.

So, can one of the astronomy geeks work up a "lunar calendar" for me? Tides, eclipses and all that would be appreciated too. We can discuss a fee, if necessary, though Im hoping to hook a grad student that needs a project, to be honest.

So I kinow goblins fear writing.
do the other two goblinoid races? or have they developed a writing system? One of my players wants to play a hobgoblin passing intel, and asked the question, and I cant seem to find an answer.

So I saw this:

Sean K Reynolds wrote:
Remember the most important rule of the Paizo message boards.

on a thread, and my inner Joker came out, as seen from the title. As long as no one brought their inner Batman, this should be fun.

I know the first and most important rule of Fight Club (dont talk about Fight Club), but I cant see Paizo pushing that one. Its bad for business.

And I know my most important rule in life has always been "never kick a grizzly bear in the nuts"; I highly recommend those as words to live by, if you need some. Followed closely is "never try to hit on the princess right in front of her dad/husband", but that one doesnt seem a applicable here.

But I want to hear from some of the other brilliant people here as to what they consider some important rules to be.

And remember, this is supposed to be fun, if not funny

I thought I saw that Paizo was doing a book that would cover animal companions and/or familiars for everyone, not just wizards and druids.
But I might have been in the 3rd party, or even old 3.5 stuff.
Is Paizo doing anything like this? (or already done it?)

Ok, heres the situation:
We have a new GM, who advicates the idea that all killing is bad. (doesnt mesh well with our party's style) He set an adventure where the villae dedicated to pacifism was going to be invaded by an orc war party of about 20, for our 4 party team to defend.

We thought it would be the "train the villagers" trope, and were cool with that. But the villagers refused to help. They even wanted s to surrender our normal weapons for blunt maces that "wouldnt draw blood on their sacred ground". I assume they were mercy-ed, but dont know for sure as we were unwilling to give up our choice gear for their offered junk.

So my CG ranger hops on a stump to give a speech; the GM says Om wasting my time, but lets me try anyway. However, I wasnt going to talk to the villagers, I spoke to the party. I pointed out how I "believed" that every man has the right to choose his own path in life, and eventually, his death. We were facing impossible odds, with no help, as well equipped as us as far as we could tell; it was suicide to stay, and we could do more good by going to get aid and avenging these villagers than by dying beside them. It was wrong to impose our beliefs of violence on them, or to profane their beliefs by killing in their village. The only solution was to withdraw, get the help we needed, and return to slay the evil orcs.

The party agreed (I was the only good PC in the bunch) and we did.

Now the GM says I was "evil", and wants to slap me with a penalty and an alignment change. Should I accept his judgement? Or am I right, that that was within my alignment?

So what do CLEAVES and PEACH stand for?

Any in here?

So Im making an elf, and I get 2 traits.
But they have to be from different catagories.
I notice that there are some that are racial, but not specific, and some that seem racial and specific
So, from the Elven race catagory I have
Seeker of brightness and
Dilettante artist
is this allowed, or not?

my player has the trait "wealthy and craft skills.
He wants to know if he can burn the gold on having crated masterwork equipment before the game starts

So you get a +3 to class skills that you put a skill point in.

Is this bonus added each level you put a point in (resulting in some freaky skill levels)

Or just the first time you put a point in (encouraging players to put a point in all their class skills; and then pound the specific ones they really want to excel in)?

Ok. I know you dont get the higher level bonus spell slots for having high stats.

But, how unbalancing is it to let the caster have the spell slots early?
So that a 1st level caster, instead of having only 2 first level spell slots would have 5. (with some open to being meta-magicked)
Ive wondered, but havent tried this in practice before. Is it really that disruptive?

So I just started a new campaign, and myBuddy dragged me to a new GM, who told me, as the most experienced gamer, to run the mage (we're teaching several younger kids how to game)

I didnt know the GM hates sorcerers, and he didnt say anything as I created one. But we're short on magic, and its a low Item world (he expects me to create the party's items)

I have no problem playing a wizard; just wish he'd told me in advance. So, when multiclassing, what all from the wizard to I get?
Do I have to buy a spell book, or is that a freebie (and can I capture an enemy spell book and make it mine)?
Does my "eschew materials" work on wizard spells too, or do I have to start carrying guano?
Do I get all the free spells a wizard starts with, or just the 2 spells per level?

So Ive got a new sorcerer starting out. And Im plotting to be a controller type Elf

I was thinking instead of using a bow for damage (meh), using a sling to throw thunderstones, tanglefoot bags, alchemist fire and other stuff.

Is there a reason I couldnt? and what else could I throw?
(obvious;y, I like "outside the box" characters)

This got deleted from the ninja section, where it seemed appropriate, since its meant to be a "ninja" weapon....
This place has strange standards of what stays and what gets deleted. Anyway

My player is a manga/anime fan, and loves the giant shuriken weapon. We adjudicated the best way to play is use the star knife, and add magic to do the "ninja tricks" he wants it to do from various shows he watches.

So he pointed out to me the illusionary shuriken, where it appears there are multiple, giving it a better chance of hitting. He worked up this story that the actual mechanics are based on the bonus enhancement, and all factors are based off that. For coolness, the higher the plus, the more illusionary shuriken are created, justifying the bonus in the first place. (I love to have flavor to explain why the magic works) So we both agree that logically, an illusion spell would be involved in creation of these shuriken/star-knives. He argues that scince the spell provides no effect gamewise, and exists purely for fluff, it should be a freebie (not figured into the cost of creation)

I could go either way; I want to reward him for helping to create backstory and flavor, and it doesnt effect anything. But I hate giving players freebies....

So what does everyone here think?

So, my GM used to have miotaurs as a playable race. He stripped all the racial levels, and cut many of the bonuses, and tied it so one could take the levels of race or class to advance.

Our GM has moved, and the group is debating what a PF version of the race would look like. Anyone wanna help write one up?

My players want to create magic Items, and are willing to accept nasty penalties to reduce cost and add story depth. Are there rules for this (or will there be soon)?
One of my Players got an idea from some book that his weapon would require his blood (1d4 damage) each day, to activate its powers. Would heal overnight, but couldnt be healed during the day without losing the weapons powers.
Thats just one example; I could think of many others. What would these kinds of penalties do to the price of the item?
