At the moment the "Other Races" would be PC-suitable races from Inner Sea Bestiary (Android, Lashunta, Syrinx and that Plant race - Ghoram?) and a one or two from APs (Kuru?) but I think there will be more of them in the future.

Sorry for the late reply - we now have a "More Races" tab under the Race tab for the ones noted in the ISB. I'll run back through the past few AP's and see if any other ones jump out.

Drejk wrote:
Maybe instead of Uncommon Races there should be a category Rare races (or other Paizo sources) to distinguish them from races categorized as Uncommon in Advanced Race Guide?

Good thought. May have to create an "Other Races" page to capture non-core book/non-ARG races suitable for player use.

Your site is nothing short of amazing and is responsible for an astonishing amount of lost workplace productivity :) . In terms of the Inner Sea Bestiary, will you be adding the races from that book that can be used as PC races to the 'Other Races->Featured Races/Uncommon Races' section?

Regardless, keep up the fantastic job!

Thanks! I'll see about adding links on the Uncommon Races page when I finish updating the bestiary listings.

Love that name, BTW.

It has 3 HD. Appeared in Bestiary 3.

Look on d20prsrd.com - we have it under dragons. Sorry, no link, on tablet.

Except for NPC Codex and Inner Sea Bestiary, that is...

As a general suggestion, check out d20pfsrd.com's Bestiary by CR section. There's an entire page of critters whose CR is under 1.

Probably does need to be updated. Some of these feats got missed when we retagged everything. [And back to actual thread]

The guide looks great. May have to adjust my inquisitor based on the role he seems to fill. Probably hurt that I didn't have a specific build in mind, just wanted to try out the class. Sometimes exploring is half the fun..

Master of the Ledger is indeed in Taldor, Echoes of Glory, which is a Pathfinder 3.5 book, so some material may not be completely compatible with Pathfinder. I believe the feat in question had a few 3.5 references in it, hence the Fan Content tag on d20pfsrd.com. When we have to make some adjustments, we tag it as fan content or conversion to differentiate it from official material.

Just wanted to drop everyone a line, a host of new creatures from a variety of sources went live today:

From Open Design's Midgard Bestiary, a gaggle of critters your players have never seen before: Ala, Alseid, Andrenjinyi, Bagiennik, Carrion Beetle, Clockwork Beetle, Bone Collective, Broodiken, Bukavac, Cavelight Moss, Chelicerae, and Child of the Briar.

While working on Paizo's Rise of Rune Lords Anniversary Edition, I statted out a few creatures mentioned in the final adventure - Advanced Frost Worm and Mountain Aurochs.

And speaking of adventure paths, we're playing catch up on Jade Regent. From AP 51 - Frostfallen Creature, Frostfallen Mammoth, Atamahuta Oni, Qallupilluk, and Saumen Kar. From AP52 - Kami (Dosojin, Fukujin, Kaminari, Suijin) and Ja Noi Oni. From AP53 - Chon chon, Chon chon swarm, Kijimuna, The Old Man, Raiju, (regular and Kaenju). And from AP54 - Gashadokuro, Jinmenju, Wind Yai Oni, and Rokurokubi.

And a few miscellaneous conversions that were laying around the queue - Undead Warlord and Burning Shrine Blessed Skeleton.

Whew. A lot of stuff to throw at your players. More Midgard, RoRLAE, and Skull and Shackles coming soon.

Good hunting,

Well, given that I'd never noticed him before with him just sitting in Unique Monsters... At least just a link over to his page in the Uniques would be appreciated :)

Moved so he is easier to find. Check under Linnorm...

BTW - updated the Familiar table with all the new familiars that have popped up in the past few months.

Is anyone looking for any monsters in particular? Now that TOHC is done, we're trying to catch up on Adventure Path Bestiaries and monsters from the Campaign Setting. Anything in particular first?

I'm proud to announce the posting of the final pages from the Tome of Horrors Complete on d20pfsrd.com! Yep, it's all there. All told, I've posted 714 monsters, 56 animals, 82 templates and example creatures, 18 hazards, 8 planes of existence, 23 feats, 17 new creature subtypes, 5 spells, 2 artifacts, 1 universal monster ability, and 1 cleric domain. Roughly 900 web pages of material!

It's been a blast digging through Frog God Games' magnum opus - thanks to the team there for such a great book!

Oh sure... call me out.. I see how it is!

Well after putting the finishing touches on like my 9 millionth monster/feat/template/whatever today... I got tired of listing every page I did and just kept pushing them suckers out the door. Some of these monsters are good for nothing lazy s.o.b.s and if you don't push them out of the nest they'll hang out forever, raiding the fridge in the middle of the night, drinking all your beer, eating your favorite cereal... Worse than kids I tell's ya!

9 millionth? Come on now. It was only 58 new pages of content. That's only roughly the size of a Pathfinder Campaign Setting book. You don't hear the Paizo crew complaining, do you? Labor of love, my friend, labor of love.

BTW - Actually, the six you thought you missed I posted yesterday. :-) [Runs for the hills]

Also added, but John missed:

From Pathfinder 22: The End of Eternity

Artel Norrin (Azer Wizard 8)
Dillix Mahad (Shaitan Rogue 4)
Kirhosk (Unique Dragon Turtle)

From Pathfinder 23: The Impossible Eye

Argbadh Karambagya (Elite Bronze Giant)
Azer Mamluk (Azer Warrior 4)
Grovth (Unique Bodak)

Big release date today. More coming.

Just wanted to drop by and let everyone know Daemonfest 2011 is up and running at d20pfsrd.com! We added Paizo's new Daemons from the Book of the Damned Volume III for easy reference. Definitely some disturbing ones in this batch. New servants of the Horsemen include the Erodaemon, Lacridaemon, Obcisidaemon, Phasmadaemon, Sangudaemon, Suspiridaemon, Temerdaemon, and Venedaemon.

If you are interested in a more "traditional" rendition of the Daemons, we've also added the Daemons from the Tome of Horrors Complete to the site as well! Take a look at Frog God Games' versions of the Cacodaemon (VERY different from Paizo version), Charon (Boatman of the Styx), Charonadaemon (his servants), Derghodaemon, Guardian Daemon (an old school favorite), Hydrodaemon, Piscodaemon, and The Oinodaemon, a CR 37(!!!!) unique creature, and the most powerful monster listed on the site! A guaranteed get-your-party-to-wet-themselves creature. Note: Site does not provide replacement underwear. Use at your own risk. :-)

Happy gaming,

Overall I like it. The subtype "favorites" at the top is a nice touch, and clicking a letter of the alphabet now displays all of the creatures without scrolling.

On a related note, please keep the Monsters by Type page separated by Paizo and 3rd party publishers. Having at least one page with the creatures separated in that way is a most helpful resource for me.

Excellent work all around!

Our intention is to change the monsters by CR and monsters by terrain to match the format used on monsters by type (columns in each entry, with Paizo and non-Paizo separated). Going to take a bit of work, as we've been placing Paizo's non-Bestiary creations in the second part of each section.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! Please stay tuned, as we're going to start releasing creatures from Frog God's Tome of Horrors Complete in the near future! And the forseeable future. That book is huge!

Moments ago, we posted a new version of our Bestiary main page, which lists creatures alphabetically (a little over 1,300 monsters!). What do y'all think of the new look? Let us know!

Just wanted to express our thanks to everyone who voted for us at this year's Ennies. Because of your support, we took silver for best website for the second year in a row! We couldn't do what we do without your support. And congratulations to all last night's winners, it was great to meet y'all! Hope to see you again next year!

Thanks again,

Brett, d20pfsrd Beastmaster

To look at d20pfsrd as only a resource for new material is doing both the site and yourself a disservice. We strive to offer so much more than that. We provide free conversions of older Pathfinder material, statistics for variant creatures (like all dragons), new tools (like the spellcard generator), an errata database, and access to third party material that many would never otherwise see (like psionics!). All in a handy website you can access anywhere - very helpful if you forgot to bring a book to your weekly game (who hasn't done that?).

And a final note on posting new creatures from new books - I don't think you have to worry about that anytime soon. I'm still trying to clean up creatures from Kingmaker for posting...though keep an eye peeled for the Blodeuwedd Queen, a variant creature mentioned in AP 33. It's been statted out, and is under review. Should have that one up soon!

For those of you who support the site, thank you. For those of you who have reservations about the site, please give us another try. You might find a diamond in that rough.

Thanks,

Brett

Shouldn't it be a 9th level Dread Mummy Monk since an 8th level human monk is CR7 and the template adds +3 to CR? (Its listed as CR11 in the AP)

Also may I ask why you changed his stats so much? I'm not seeing what in Pathfinder changed that would give him +4 Str, +1 Int, +3 Wis, and a +1 Cha. At best deconstructing him the Black Monk was missing a +2 to a stat from being human if they started in Con at 8.

Sorry, took me a while to find my original spreadsheet to see how I calculated everything. For rebuilds, I tend to go all the way back to the basics - 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, and 8 base stats. Apply elite stats bonuses, racial bonuses, level bonuses, and template bonuses. It's easier to catch things that have been left out this way, and find the best build to make the creature effective (or non-effective if called for).

Anyway - stat calculation looks a bit like this:

STR: 12 base +4 Elite +14 template+4 belt = 34
DEX: 9 base 4 elite+4 template+1 level = 18
CON: 8 base -2 elite - everything (undead)
INT 11 base + 0 elite +2 template = 13
WIS 13 base +2 elite+2 human +4 template=21
CHA 10 base +2 elite +4 template +1 level= 17

As far as level, looking back at the handy dandy spreadsheet, I have base CR 7 for monk 8 and + 4 for the template. Wait, 4?

And now you see why we have TWO editors now. It's too easy to miss something in your own work...

TD, thanks for the catch. I'll send him back through the spreadsheet as a 9th level base. I shudder to think how rough he will be with another level.

I think the confusion is that the Black Monk is a level 8 Monk with the Dread Mummy template rather than a Mummy which adds 8 levels in Monk and then takes the Dread Mummy template. With the "Dread" templates, you start with the living creature and apply them, not with the undead that shares a similar name.

~RE

Rogue, you are indeed correct. As the author of the Black Monk conversion on d20pfsrd, I created the conversion by first fleshing out an 8th level human monk and applying the Dread Mummy template to the results. Although he does look weak with only 68 hit points, keep in mind his DR 5/- and resistance to blows ability (auto half damage), coupled with evasion, high saving throws, and undead traits give him significant durability. Also factor in that the resistance to blows ability isn't canceled by effects that bypass DR (like a paladin's smite).

When he gets into position for a flurry of blows (rather easy since he flies) he can inflict reasonable damage coupled with multiple chance to inflict mummy rot. His other abilities, the energy draining breath weapon and nasty assortment of spell like abilities give him effective attacks at range. The earthquake spell can be especially deadly, since he is encountered inside a stone structure, and can effectively bury the party forever. The spell (and the rules for buried characters) are woefully silent on how one escapes after being buried under tons of rubble.

As for a practical example, I ran my gaming group against him during FotSG. The party, all 12th level at the time, consisting of a cleric, wizard, multiclassed ranger/cleric/monk, and fighter fought him. They were able to defeat him, but not until after two party members were infected with mummy rot and negative levels, and one party member was dead (the cleric!). Your mileage may vary.

On second review, I appear to have forgot to give him full hit points at first level - raising his hit point total to 71. Will correct on the site.

Thanks everyone for their comments!

One big problem I see with it, though - why are the age categories listed alphabetically rather than chronologically? Why not start with Wyrmling and end with Great Wyrm, rather than Adult to Young Adult?

The main page uses an automatic subpage link list, which unfortunately wants to alphabetize everything. However if you click on the individual dragon types ((Chromatic) Green), you'll see that the Age Category chart on the right has links in the age category column to each dragon of that color from Wyrmling to Great Wyrm.

(Except the Bronze. I need to go fix that.)

Thanks for the feedback!

The Sinspawn - spawn of the seven deadly sins and one of Paizo's first new creatures in the 3.5 Pathfinder era recently reappeared as part of the Bestiary 2. Well, at least the wrathspawn version did. What about the other seven deadly sins? Don't they cry out for attention as well?

Have no fear (OK, have some fear), the d20pfsrd.com Beastmaster is here! (well, one of them, anyway)

Our crack(ed?) team of collaborators has created full statistics for all seven versions of sinspawn. Envy, Gluttony, Greed, Lust, Pride, and Sloth now stand on equal footing with Wrath.

Check it out here.

Not exactly 192 dragons, but useful, yes?

Everyone, you're welcome. Keep an eye on the site - I hope to keep projects like this running all year. There's a lot of variant monsters that Paizo gives a brief description of that we circle around later with and build.

Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy the dragons!

The answer is simple - you use them to terrify your players! Over at d20pfsrd.com, we've just completed the month of the dragon (affectionately know at "How to Stat Your Dragon"), where a dedicated group of collaborators have just completed posting Pathfinder statistics for ALL AGE CATEGORIES for ALL TYPES OF TRUE DRAGONS. Yes, you ready correctly. We have posted statistics for all 15 Core Pathfinder Dragons (Chromatic, Metallic, and Primal).

We have every dragon for every need: from a CR 2 Crystal Dragon Wyrmling to a CR 23 Great Wyrm Gold Dragon and everything in between!

But Beastmaster, you ask, that's 15 dragon types with 12 age categories each - that's only 180 dragons!

Very astute! As a special bonus, we completed the age categories for a 16th true dragon from "Book of Beasts: Monsters of the River Nations": The River Dragon! Thanks to our good friends at Jon Brazer Enterprises for sending the River Dragon our way!

Stop by our Dragon Page and enjoy today!
