I think the wording was RAI to imply that, if a creature has SR, the spell has to penetrate it to deafen it.

The way it is worded does seem to imply by RAW that the creature isn't deafened unless it had spell resistance.

I think it should have been written like this - "Your lightning brings with it a peal of thunder. Whenever your infused blast hits a foe, that foe becomes deafened. Your blast has to penetrate spell resistance, but the foe is deafened even if it doesn't deal damage."

Agree. I think that's exactly what it's supposed to mean.

You only need to hit (in this case SR is just a 2nd AC) and regardless if all damage gets soaked you would still deafen your target..

otherwise you need to overcome AC, SR and the enemy needs to fail a fort save, which would render this infusion useless.

I wrote the sanguine angel with the assumption that an unarchetyped fighter would be the "obvious" choice. The class effectively continues to improve armor training and weapon training, and a fighter can afford the necessary feats while also working towards something like Sisterhood Style. (Plus, all the original Gray Maidens were fighters, so it's on theme flavorwise.) Add in the various options from WMH and AMH, and your player should have a fairly effective character.

It's certainly possible to go sister-in-arms into sanguine angel, but that wouldn't be my first choice - they're not terribly synergistic, and the sister-in-arms will have to spend all her feats just to qualify for the class. As far as I'm concerned, the sister-in-arms is probably best sticking to her class and improving the features it grants.

Hopefully this is of some assistance. If you have further questions, feel free to ask. ^_^

First I want to thank you for your effort to create the Sanguine Angel. I really like the class concept and the provided flexibility with tyrant's dicipline.

You're right, building into the SA is quite easy as a fighter, but still Qualins Rachmirol is Cavalier / SA herself. It really depends on what you want to do.

Currently I am playing a Sister in Arms in Ruins of Azlant and plan to build into the Sanguine Angel for the following reasons:
- Having a ranged weapon as secondary
- TWF while without meeting the prereqs
- Driving Assault (building around greater bullrush here sounds fun)
- Eyes of Alertness

Mixin that up with Sister in Arms for the following reasons:
- Provide useful Buffs to your teammates (Dragon and Lion Order in one package is <3)
- Bodyguard ;)
- I hate mounts

It went incredibly well so far. Cavalier might not synergize perfectly with SA, but you can still utilize a lot of class features from both classes.

I've never thought about picking sisterhood style, but that sounds quite interesting because you get teamwork feats as cavalier anyway.

In the end it really depends on what you want to do with your character.
