Concerned about the quasit's spellcasting abilities, Zorlen readies himself to try and disrupt anything else she tries to cast.

Readied action if quasit starts casting:

Casting Acid Splash
Ranged touch attack (IC): 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 3 + 1 = 14
Damage (acid): 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
CL roll vs spell resistance?: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14

Zorlen moves inside the room behind Grod, and considers how best to help for a moment.

Is closing the door the best option? That'd leaves us trapped here as well. Not much I can do otherwise, though. Those beasts are too scattered, and trying a long casting spell with an invisible enemy seems like a terrible idea.

Trusting Tot when it comes to fighting, Zorlen waits for Izzy, and closes the door when she enters.

Move inside, and a standard action to close the door?

With two of the creatures down, Zorlen figures the grease pool is more of a hindrance to his companions than a boon. With a few more arcane words, he makes the pool disappear just as fast as it had been conjured up.

Standard action to dismiss the Grease spell

Zorlen looks at the cramped space the group is fighting on, and considers his options for a moment.

Not really much space to enlarge one of the fighters. Although the choke point here could prove an advantage. Hmmm...

With a series of arcane words and meaningful gestures, Zorlen casts his spell and a pool of some sort of oily substance appears underneath the Sinspawn fighting Tot and Garen.

Casting Grease, covering the spaces for the blue and yellow Sinspawn, and the two behind them. Reflex DC 16 or fall prone.

Seeing his spell take effect, Zorlen moves behind Ari, hoping to give the martials more room to maneuver.

I have a lot of trouble editing Google drawings from my phone. Will try to update tomorrow, but if someone could move me north of Ari, that would be great!

"Are you sure about their resistance to magic, Ari? Maybe my knowledge about them isn't as complete as I'd hope. Regardless, your warnings are spot on - a touch from them can leave you unable to fight to your full ability. Be careful."

Zorlen moves up next to Ari, to get a better view of the creatures, and lets out a silent scream at the nearest one.

Ear-Piercing Scream against Red.

Damage (sonic): 1d6 ⇒ 6 Fortitude DC 16 for half damage. Failure makes the target dazed for a round.

"If magic is indeed weaker against them, I can probably contribute best by making one of you larger and stronger. The spell takes a bit longer to cast, however."

Yeah, I forgot to add the spells for the 2nd level. As for your questions:

Forbidden Schools: I picked up the New Thassilonian Magic feat at 1st level. It lets me pick one of the schools (so Necromancy instead of Illusion)

Arcane Bond: There are actually two completely different Pact Wizard archetypes, the one I'm using does not have a limitation on the arcane bond: Pact Wizard

Wizard spells prepared (CL 2; concentration +7):

1st (4+2/day)- Bonus: Enlarge Person (DC 16)x2; Ear-Piercing Scream (DC 16); Grease (DC 16); Mage Armor (DC 16) x2;

0th (at will)- Acid Splash (DC 15); Detect Magic (DC 15); Prestidigitation (DC 15); Ghost Sound (DC 15)

@GM: If it's okay to do so retroactively, Zorlen would have cast Mage Armor on himself and Ari before we entered - it lasts 2 hours, wouldn't make sense to wait for combat to do it. If not, will do so afterwards.

Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

K Dungeoneering: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24

"Sinspawn? They'd have to be remnants from the Thassilonian Empire, having lasted all these years..." Zorlen looks to them in wonder for a brief moment before Ari's warning grounds him, and he gets ready to support the group with his arcane knowledge.

Sorry for being gone for so long, everyone, but I think things are finally getting back on track, and I'm feeling I can finally get back to posting with a decent rate.

I would love to join you all again (especially when you're about to delve into a Thassolonian ruin!), if you still want me along.

Zorlen skin turns a deeper shade of red for a moment, but he ends up laughing heartily at Izzy's reply to Garen, and then nods to Erridon. "Doesn't upset me at all. In fact, it's nice, you know, being able to laugh at stuff like this again. Didn't realise how much I missed it these last few years."

He turns to Izzy, still smiling. "I appreciate the, erm, generous offer, but I think I'll pass at this time." he says with a chuckle, before his expression turns a bit more serious. "Right now, I think it's best if I stay focused on finding out who's behind the attack on the town. There'll be time for fun later, after we make sure the town is safe."

"Heh, thanks, both of you." Zorlen replies with a smile at Izzy's and Ari's words. "I'll be more mindful of my words next time, don't worry."

"Even the town seems to have come around compared to what I remembered - I fully expected to be ran out of town by now after the attack, and instead I'm being hailed as one of the town's heros, of all things. Really, I must thank you, Isidiana - I'm pretty sure your songs and... Creative tellings of our battle are one of the main reasons for it."

"Wise words." Zorlen nods at Garen's advice, but there's a grim look in his eyes. "And yet sometimes sleep does not come easy even when there should be nothing preventing you from resting peacefully."

He lets out a sigh at Izzy's words. "Memories of that night still haunt me to this day. I guess I have my tainted blood to thank for getting away unscathed. Others weren't so lucky. And I... I could do nothing to save then."

"Can't really say, Ari, sorry... Probably the topic, though - Fiendish races, wouldn't surprise me if it brought back some unpleasant memories..."

"As for your thoughts on what our thieves intend with the bodies... Doesn't feel quite right for them to be going after the transformation rigual and not know about Tobyn's and Nualia's relationship. Unless I understood something wrong, they'd have to be related to one of them - I mean, I suppose there doesn't have to be a biological bond between the caster and them, thinking about it... The focus was more on the need for a "betrayal of love by sacrificing a family member". I guess as long as they were close enough to both to consider them family, that would be enough. Would a distant relation count? I don't see who else could claim to be that close to them. Maybe someone from the church?"

M Tiefling Wizard (Thassilonian Specialist/Pact Wizard) 2 | HP 16/16 | AC 12 (16 with Mage Armor), T 12, FF 10, CMD 11 | F+2, R+2, W+5 | Per +4 | Init +2 | Spells: 1st: 2+2| Active: Mage Armor 2h

"Me and Father Zantus went over the possible uses for the bodies, and the ones that seemed more likely... Were the possibility of creating a huevuva from Father Tobyn's body - an undead abomination, typically created from the corpse of a heretical priest, although Father Zantus believed a powerful enough necromancer could force such a thing jpon Father Tobyn's soul." Zorlen tries to not betray his own feelings on the matter, but there's a hint of anger in his voice at the thought.

"As for Nualia's remains... The best we could come up with as a series of rituals that would end up changing the caster into a fiend, and it would require burning a family member as a sacrifice. If that is indeed their goal... It would mean we would be dealing some unknown relation of hers, I suppose. No one knew who her birth parents could be, so that doesn't bring us much closer to finding out who is behind this."

"So, if I'm understanding this correctly" Zorlen says thoughtfully as he looks to the more experienced trackers for confirmation. "this taller leader and his smaller group of goblins came here with the bigger group that attacked the town. I'm guessing they broke of from the main force to sneak into town and steal Father Tobyn's and Nualia's remains, and then retraced their steps back here."

"I guess if we keep following their trail, we might find out where they're striking from."

M Tiefling Wizard (Thassilonian Specialist/Pact Wizard) 2 | HP 16/16 | AC 12 (16 with Mage Armor), T 12, FF 10, CMD 11 | F+2, R+2, W+5 | Per +4 | Init +2 | Spells: 1st: 2+2| Active: Mage Armor 2h

"Hmmm. I'd lean towards the one with the taller creature. Since they're probably the one leading all these goblins, I think they should be our priority. That said, how many goblins would you say are with them? Think we can handle all of them on our own?"

Zorlen ponders on Grod's question for a moment. "Well, I never explored much outside of town, so I'm not too sure where they might be going. But if I remember anything that might help, I'll let you know."

Not sure if there's anything I might know from being from Sandpoint, or if a knowledge check would help. History would get a +1, but I have most at +9

Knowledge (unless it's dungeoneering, engineering or nobility): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19

Father Zantus:

"Thank you for your help, Father. I don't think I'd have figured it out without it. It's troubling, but hopefully we'll be able to put this information to good use and stop whoever it is from defiling Father Tobyn's corpse in such a way..."

Zorlen sadly looks down at his hands for a moment as he considers Father Zantus questions. "I don't know who could be behind this, either. I... It just feels like I just failed them a second time. I could do nothing the night of the fire, and now this?" He shakes his head, trying to focus on ghe present. "I should be going now, Father. Tell the others what we learnt. Thank you again for your help."

Seeing Garen and Grod come back from their search outside the city's walls, Zorlen joins them.

"I think it would be best if we go back to the others, for now, and share what we learned. I believe Father Zantus figured out what our mystery attackers might be trying to do with the bodies. As someone who was close to them, it's... troubling, but knowing might just let us be better prepared."

Father Zantus:

"Thank you so much for your help, Father."
Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 10 + 2 = 15

With Father Zantus help, Zorlen goes over the gathered book, hoping to find some sort of clue to whatever the thieves might be trying to do. But it seems his mind is not totally focused on the task, and keeps drifting off to memories of moments with Father Tobyn, or Nualia back at the old church.

Focus, Zorlen. They're gone. Right now the best you can do to honor their memory is to ensure their remains are not desecrated in some unholy ritual.

Father Zantus:

"Thank you, Father." Zorlen bows his head slightly as he lets the man lead him to his personal chambers. "As you probably guessed, I wanted to talk about what happened at the cemetery. The sheriff has just told me, and..." Zorlen looks away for a moment. "I... I owe alot to Father Tobyn. The idea that his and his daughter's remains were taken is bad enough, but I'm worried whoever did it means to use them in some sort of dark ritual or the like. Right now, I don't think there's much I can do, but I figured I'd ar least try and understand what they might be planning to do. Erridon suggested I might some material for such a research here at the cathedral, and I was hoping you'd know where to look if so. My hope is that by learning what they might be planning, I might more easily stop it."

Congratulations on your promotion, GM Mokmurian, and thank you for running the game for us! No need to apologise, it's been a good game so far, and your reasons are completely understandable.

As for looking for a new GM, I'm on board as well. We've got a great group here and I'd like us to continue on.

"Of course, Garen, I will, and will let you know if it's anything important. Let's be off then, shall we?"

As they walk towards the new cathedral, Zorlen can't help but be awed at its appearance, a stark contrast to the smaller church that stood there before. When they arrive, he gives a curt nod to Garen and Grod and steps inside.

Church:

Before setting out to look for father Zantus, Zorlen takes a moment to appreciate the beauty of the new church, and refocuses his arcane energy for the day.

Forgot to prepare new spells for the day, but I can do it in 15 minutes, so I'll just do it now.

Prepared Spells

Spoiler:

1st (3+2/day)- Bonus: Enlarge Person (DC 16)x2; Ear-Piercing Scream (DC 16); Grease (DC 16); Mage Armor (DC 16);

0th (at will)- Acid Splash (DC 15); Detect Magic (DC 15); Message (DC 15);

When he finishes his meditation, he again finds himself unconsciously holding on to his hidden holy symbol. Shaking his head, he sets out to look for Father Zantus.

Assuming he finds him

Spoiler:

"Hello, Father Zantus. I, huh... My name is Zorlen, and it's good to finally meet you. And I must say, the cathedral is amazingly beautiful. Nothing like the old church." Zorlen smiles as he says his words, but it doesn't quite reach his eyes - there's a sadness and longing in them for a brief moment, before he focuses on what brought him here. "I wanted to talk to you about a specific topic. One that should be kept private, I think. Is there somewhere we can talk quietly?"

"I might join you, Master Garen, at least until we get to the church. Joining you in the graveyard seems risky, though. People know me here, if there's one place I'd have been visiting if I went there... It would be Father Tobyn's crypt. Our only advantage right now seems to be the fact that whoever did this doesn't know we know there was more behind the goblin attack. Of course, your presence there might place them on guard as well, but I think it's easier to explain of your set on going." Zorlen says as he ponders their options, and nods to the group heading for the Dragon. "Shouldn't be too difficult to convince people that you're just visiting a friend's grave."

"I might suggest asking at the chapel. Hmm, but for arcane magic.... Remember Veznutt Parooh, the map guy over on Cliff street? He knows some magic, arcane magic. And Risa Magravi over at Risa's place on Undercliff Way? Yeah, the old lady is a sorceress and a dreamer. Not sure if that would help, but there's not much else. Pillbug the alchemist.... But that's more for dangerous draughts." His chuckle at that indicates a lack of interest in that person.

Zorlen looks thoughtful for a moment, pondering over Erridon's suggestions. "The chapel... I... Well, there's no reason to assume whatever they want them for is an arcane ritual. Might even be more probable that divine magic is involved, given that they went specifically for Father Tobyn..." Zorlen looks towards the cathedral for a bit, his hand unconsciously clutching at the holy symbol he keeps hidden underneath his shirt. When he catches what he's doing, he quickly puts his hands behind his back and looks back to the sheriff and the gravedigger. "Has Father Zantus been informed of what happened?"

"If I'm honest, i don't really think we need a clearly defined 'Leader', Ari. If we ever find ourselves in battle, sure, it'd make sense to follow Master Garen's or Master Grod's guidance, given their experience. But even then, they can only do so much - I can't expect them to know what spells I have prepared each day, for example, much less know how best to apply them in a given situation. The way I see it, we should just tryst each other to know how best to apply their skills in a given situation, and try to make decisions as a group, without the need for a stricter hierarchy."

Zorlen gives a nod to Izzy with a smile. "Of course, that doesn't mean we shouldn't defer to the one with the most knowledge on how to tackle our current task, and I'd say that's clearly you right now, Isidiana." Zorlen lets out a sigh as he looks from the gnome bard to the elven huntress, and back again. "As much as I would like to actively help out investigating what happened to Father Tobyn... I have to agree Miss Andosana's plan makes the most sense. Keep the town's spirits up, show confidence that we're ready and able to stop whatever the goblin's are planning. Let our mystery mastermind think they're safe and be careless. Basically 'looking pretty', as Master Garen so succinctly put it. I'd say you're clearly the expert there." Zorlen smiles a bit, and then his face turns thoughtful as he looks towards the cemetery. "Although maybe I could try researching about what kind of vile ritual might require Father Tobyn's and Nualia's remains. I don't think that'd raise too many suspicions if I pass it off as general arcane research. Not sure anyone here would have books or scrolls on the topic, though."

Zorlen smiles as he sees Erridon and Tot approach the group, hand in hand, but his expression grows more serious as they reach the sheriff.

Zorlen listens quietly, his brow furrowed and his fists clenched as he considers the implications of what they've just been told.

Father Tobyn... Why? First I lose him and the church to that fire, and now someone takes away his and Nualia's remains? Why?

"I... I can't think of anyone that would be after them, either. I mean, the town adored Nualia. Blessed by Desna, some would say, due to her celestial blood..." Mixed with the pain and sadness in his voice, is a slight hint of lingering envy at the way the town looked up to Nualia.

"And the fire, I always thought it was an accident... If there really are dark forces moving against the town..."

He freezes for a moment as his mind goes back to the fires and the awful nightmares he's been having, before he shakes himself back to the conversation.

"I agree with Master Garen, looking for clues around the graveyard seems like the best place to start."

And if all that happened really is the work of some dark forces moving against the town... I'll stand up to them, this time. I just hope... My magic is up to the task.

Not that I want to interrupt the scene between Tot and Erridon, but I figure I'd keep the rest of the conversation going as well for the rest of us :)

Despite the apparent seriousness of the situation, Zolren can't help but chuckle at Isidiana's comment about the "nice humans". As he's about to give his view on Grod's suggestion, Tot takes off, followed closely by Erridon.

"I don't know what that was about, but I'm guessing it's best if we leave those two alone for a bit. I'm sure Ari will be able to find us when they're ready."

"As for what's waiting for us at that meeting... It's though to say, but that's a good possibility, Master Grod. Have us go scout out their base, or even attack if we're confident we can take them on, without the sheriff having to spare members of the city guards and militia that might be necessary if there's another attack on the town. What I can't understand is how Naffer Vosk fits into all this... He's the one who tends to the boneyard. Why'd he be called to a meeting of this nature?"

Zorlen nods gravely at Erridon's words as he sees him addressing Tot."I agree with Ari, Tot. I'm not buying this 'they deserve to know, because they saved the town'. We're clearly being called to a meeting, and our presence seems urgent, from the sound of it. If they just wanted to pass these 'news' along, they could have done so afterwards, or through our friend here." Zorlen gestures towards the guard that came looking for them, before carrying on.

"If the sheriff specifically requested our presence, I'm guessing they want to ask for our help, due to the way we handled ourselves against the goblins. And your help was invaluable in those fights. It'd be foolish not to have you along as well."

"Indeed. And one must be ever vigilant - tragedy can struck even the most beautiful and peaceful of places... And not even due to evil influences or the like - sometimes it's just the whims of fate..." Zorlen looks thoughtfully to the distance for a bit, before snapping back to the conversation about the well.

"I'd say that's the point of the story, actually, in its many versions. To serve as a cautionary tale, warning people away from the well, which can be dangerous even if it is just a mundane one, as well as the dangers of the road, and of bargaining with evil forces beyond our control."

"I'm somewhat glad, to tell the truth. Don't think my magic would be particularly helpful in this hunt. This way I have a bit more time to learn how to shoot lightning from my fingertips, right?" Zorlen replies with a laugh. "To tell the truth, I was a bit jealous of your spell the other day, and how effective it was in bringing that fight to an end."

He smiles as he glances at Tot and Erridon chatting along as they ride at the back of the group. "Seems like those two are really getting along!" He says to Izzy as he subtly nods in their direction.

Zorlen smiles as he sees Tot do her best to overcome her shyness and try to cheer the nobleman.

"Why don't we follow Erridon's suggestion and take a look at Savah's stock first, then? See if she has the right spears for sale? Makes sense to first check if we have the right tools before deciding for or against the hunt, right?"

"And with all due respect, Mr. Foxglove, I think you might be focusing too much on your concepts of heroism and courage, and that's what's holding you back." Zorlen gestures to Izzy and then points to Grod as he continues. "Following up on what Isidiana just said, imagine if a farmer was there with us instead of Master Grod. Would you call him a hero if he charged the goblins like Grod did? No. You'd call him a fool. It wouldn't really be a matter of courage, would it? He'd lack the power to make a difference - Grod's strength and training, in this case, but power can take many forms. What matters most is that it you have the means to achieve your goals - courage is then just how much you're willing to risk to get there. To the point that, if you're so powerful that there's no risk at all, courage isn't really relevant, now is it?"

Zorlen nods to the nobleman "You said you always wanted to be a hero, which is a commendable goal. Let it drive you forward. Focus on your goal, not on whatever qualities you see in others that you think you lack. Think on what you can do to make a difference in the future. Maybe that's picking up a sword and training enough that you're confident standing your ground in a similar situation. But it can just as well be funding the local guard and militia, to make sure there are better able to protect the town if something like this happens again. Decide on what you want to achieve, and then find the best way to get there."

"Yeah, Savah'd be the best place to look for one, I think." Zorlen noda at Erridon's suggestion. "Don't think it would help me much against a boar, though. Probably best if I stick to spells, assuming I can manage to cast while riding without too much trouble."

"Heh, thanks, both of you." Zorlen smiles at Izzy's and Erridon's words. "But really, I just broke a flimsy bow. Well, and took a nasty stab from one of those goblins in return. That finger lightning idea, though... Might have to look into it. Can't disappoint your fans, right?"

"It's a very generous gift, as the others have said. Although I should warn you that some tales of my actions are a bit... Over the top." Zorlen replies with a shy smile, and glances gratefully at Izzy. His newfound popularity was surprising, but not unwelcome. "Thanks, Ari, I think that healing spell took care of all the damage that goblin did to me." Zorlen replies with a smile. "As for being a 'Hero of Sandpoint', though..." He looks up at the dark clouds pouring their rain over the town. "I guess we'll see how the people react. I... Wouldn't be all that surprised if some of them end up saying I was the cause, actually. Bringing a cloud of misfortune over the town by coming back and all that."

He stares at the sky for a but, before turning back to his friend with a weak smile. "Don't worry, I won't be leaving quite so soon. Zorlen stumbles back, wincing in pain from the wound dealt by the goblin's shortsword. Putting a bit of space between himself and the trio of attackers, Zorlen focuses his pain on another spell, and throws an apparently silent scream towards one of his attackers.

Sleep has a one round casting time, unfortunately, so Izzy will only finish casting at the start of her next round. Assuming there are any targets still standing after the incoming onslaught of crits ;).

"Try to keep them away from her as she's casting - she has to keep her focus, or she'll lose her spell." Zorlen whispers to those around him, as he focus on the goblin drawing a bow. With an arcane incantantion on his lips, Zorlen holds out his hand and closes it with a crushing motion, willing the bow to break.

"That one didn't seem too reluctant in what he was doing, Ari... Don't think we have much time to try and talk them out of it, either - the town's safety must come first! Let's go!" Zorlen replies as he sprints after the others.

Noble words, and yet I didn't see you do much besides protect your best buddy there. Isn't something like this exactly why you wanted to learn magic? Well then, get to it. Show them your power! Make them fear you!

Zorlen shakes his head as the familiar voice rings out in his mind, but does not answer, as he's on finding find the source of the screams. His companion had been an invaluable help during this last five years, but could get just a little bit too eager when it came time to show off his magic.

Another one? We're going to be missing everything on our first combat, aren't we?

Zorlen knows he's not fit to be dealing with customers, so he leaves that to Erridon and instead stays at the back, making absolutely sure everything is as clean and tidy as can be, using his magic to help keep the plates as spotless as possible.

As he works, he steals a glance at Tot and can't help but smile at the sight of the previously nervous girl so engrossed in her work.

"I think Ameiko just found herself a new cook." He whispers to Erridon as he comes back inside. "She'd be a fool not to hire her on the spot with how the food's turning out, don't you think?"

Zorlen nods as Erridon complements Ameiko on the food. "I agree. I haven't had your cooking in so long, I almost forgot how tasty it can be. I didn't realise how much I was missing it until now." He follows his lead as well and takes his own plate to the back.

"I'd like to help, too, if you'd let me. I'm not really much of a cook, especially not when compared to Tot here, who got us some amazing meals on the trip from Magnimar. But I can help clean up, too. Even have some magic to help make it quicker, if you're okay with that. Finally put all that studying to good use!" He says with a chuckle.

Zorlen listens attentively to each of the speeches, happy to see things the town getting back to normal and moving forward from the tragedies of the past. His smile falters a bit after Hemlock's speech, as he notices the stares he's getting from some of the townsfolk.

Ameiko was right, I guess... Either they think I was the one causing the fire, or they feel me coming back is somehow an affront to the victims. Maybe coming back for the festival was a bad idea...

As the desnan priest takes to the stage, Zorlen shakes those thoughts away and focuses instead on his words. The legend behind the festival is one he knows well, and yet, it's comforting to hear it told again. And seeing the beautiful release of the swallowtial butterflies is a simple joy he never realised how much he missed.

He stares for a bit in the direction they disappeared to, before Ari's question snaps him back to reality.

"Food, maybe? You know, try to get some before the lines get too long. And then we can enjoy the rest of the festival with a full stomach."

M Tiefling Wizard (Thassilonian Specialist/Pact Wizard) 2 | HP 16/16 | AC 12 (16 with Mage Armor), T 12, FF 10, CMD 11 | F+2, R+2, W+5 | Per +4 | Init +2 | Spells: 1st: 2+2| Active: Mage Armor 2h

Zorlen sighs at Ameiko's warnings. "Yeah, those rumours were one of the reasons I decided to just leave town. I knew I'd get blamed for the fire by some. I knew people would say my presence was the reason for all the misfortune hitting the town, and assumed some would even think I was directly responsible for the fire, like Pennae. Didn't really consider they would see my coming as an insult to Nualia's memory, though..." Zorlen shakes his head sadly, and then shrugs. "Nothing I can really do about them, though, besides trying to not stand out too much. I can always leave after the festival, if too many people still blame me for everything."

Taking another sip from his drink, he smiles to Ari as he tries to switch to a less depressing subject. "Well, the group who hired me had some old texts and maps they had me go over, which helped pinpoint out the ruins' location. As for going back there... Well, we might get lucky, I guess, and have all the rubble still there. But I figure the group went back better prepared, and figured they no longer needed me around to take a cut of whatever was found. I wouldn't mind going back ghere, if you want, but it's as Ameiko said - things can get dangerous out there. I guess we could maybe hire some mercenaries to come along, but that will cost a fair deal."

Seeing his caravan companions retire to their rooms to prepare, Zorlen turns back to Ameiko. "You wouldn't happen to have one more room available, would you? I was hoping to stay a bit, catch up some more, if things don't go too badly at the festival."

Ready for the festival as well.

"Not too sure if you'd consider any of them good stories, Ameiko. No great and exciting adventuring stories or the like - but then again, wasn't really looking for fame or riches, either. Closest I got was when I managed to convince a group of adventurers to let me join them on a trip to some ancient ruins which should date back to ancient Thassilonian. Made them believe I was an expert on the subject. Granted, I've studied a bit, but I was mostly going off of Mr. Quink's wild theories, and I think they bought it all." Zorlen gives a small chuckle.

"We didn't get very far, anyway - the entrance had caved in, and we didn't really had a way to clear it up safely. Besides that? Mostly travelling around, trying to learn as much as I can about magic. Lots of time spent just going over books, or searching for teachers."

His smile fades a bit as the talk shifts to the new cathedral and the new priest, and he stares down at his drink. "Yeah, Ari already filled me in on the cathedral and told me the name of the new head priest. I'd already heard about the cathedral back in Magnimar, and that we'd finally be having a new Swallowtail festival. Figured the town had put its troubles behind them, and thought I'd swing by, at least for the festival. See how people would react."

As they make their way to the docks and Zorlen takes in the festive atmosphere, he can't help but smile, a stark contrast to the worried expression he'd typically show during the trip.

It quickly fades, though, as Garen asks about the cathedral, the memories and recent dreams of that fateful night flooding back into his head.

Shaking his head to drive the thoughts away, he forces his smile back and points towards the northeast.

"I think it was built over the remains of the old church. You should be able to see it towering over the roofs if you head along Festival Street. Then just turn left into High Street and go up the hill towards it."

"I'm not sure who was appointed as head priest after... The fire." Zorlen adds as he smile fades away. "Whomever it was, though, will probably be busy preparing for the festival right now. It's a Desnan holiday, after all."
