Moving to website feedback.

I'm not sure what's causing the issue, so I've moved it to the tech teams' forum for further investigation. In the meantime, if you'd like I can process the order manually on my end, just let me know.

thanks

Hello, Sara.

The cart is still non-functional. I've tried email again.

I have three things to order:

Pathfinder Pawns: Bestiary 3 Box
Pathfinder Pawns: Reign of Winter Adventure Path Pawn Collection
Pathfinder Battles: White Dragon Evolution Boxed Set

The Bestiary 3 box can ship with my subscriptions. The other two would be much better shipped as soon as possible, although they do not need rush delivery as far as freight method is concerned -- ground is fine.

Thank you,

Montejon

I am unable to order or make changes to my shopping cart. This has been the case for roughly a week. I contacted webmaster@paizo.com on 9 January concerning this. There has been no response.

Maybe let's fix that?

I made her a rogue, since she's a Jill-of-all-trades, and meant to be the buffer between the PCs and Irrisen. I expanded her trade network a bit, too, and extended her capabilities as a smuggler. She now trades manufactured goods brought in through Riba to the Mammoth Lords across the Gullik, skirting around Ludovny through the goblin lands around Pjallarane’s Stone.

(I don't love you quite enough to make the statblock text all pretty, but I do love you enough to put it inside a spoiler tag.)

I'm about halfway done with Rise of the Runelords and preparing to run Crimson Throne. In preparation for that (and because one of my players expressed an interest in Harrow), I've dug out my Harrow Deck. And I promptly remembered why I buried the blasted thing in the first place.

The art style and general "punk" aesthetic of the Harrow Deck greatly offend my sensibilities.

I'm mulling simply swapping in the Tarot (at which I am an old hand, if a hand approximately as mystical as fluorescent lighting and a stack of clean Petri dishes). But, there are 78 cards in Tarot, as opposed to the 54 of Harrow. I see five options:

[1] Just use the dang official Harrow cards. It's not like I'm a fan of the aesthetic choices of the Cubists, either, but they exist and have influence in the world. Running a world with a high degree of verisimilitude means that I don't get to make everything conform to my personal tastes.

[2] Just use the Tarot, ideally one with a more medieval/Renaissance feel than those available in the glass case at your corner occult bookstore; something in the Visconti-Sforza line of things. Ignore the optional rules for Harrowing.

[3] Draw, have drawn, or find an alternative Harrow deck and deal with the really irritating prevalence of twee (e.g. Rabbit Prince) and the overwhelming theme of betrayal and deceit (not really something I'd want to put so prominently in a deck I use to convince rubes to give me coin on the strength of my apparent connection to otherworldly forces). But… at least the noses won't remind me of Dagwood Bumstead.

[4] Write, have written, or find rules for using the Tarot that mimic those for Harrowing. The ideal choice, if I weren't so averse to work.

[5] Use playing cards with pretty illustrations and my powers of on-the-spot prevarication to apply meaning to the numbers and symbols.

Still reading? Marvelous. Perhaps you're someone who knows where I can find an alternative Harrow deck, in-game Tarot rules like those for Harrowing, or some really lovely standard playing cards to use in place of the smirking travesty I currently possess. Please share this information if you have it.

Do your eyes hurt yet? Mine do.

An observation: I've gotten several people into SJGames' GURPS with the Ninja Burger card game. It uses the most basic GURPS mechanic (which is rolling 3d6 under a target number), but there's no GURPS branding on the box and very little of the larger game. I think that's a mistake on the part of SJGames, but the game itself is good, fun, and easy to explain -- the rules take up less than a page. That sense of fun makes the segue into GURPS a snap.

The core mechanic of PFRPG is rolling a D20 and adding some stuff to beat a target number. It's even easier than the GURPS core mechanic.

So, instead of doing a rules-lite box (AKA weaksauce box), do a stand-alone game on the themes of PFRPG, using the core PFRPG mechanic. Put the branding/PI all over there. "Pathfinder: McGuffin Quest" "Golarion" "Sand Point", etc. Stick in a catalogue and an organised play flier.

To make the game useful to those who continue on to the larger RPG (and to attract the interest of those who already do), make the components reusable, not the rules. Flipmats, chase cards, cloisonné status markers, metallic copper/silver/gold pieces. Y'know: shiny, shiny schwag.

People have believed in Agartha for decades. The Nazis apparently sent some (pseudo)scientists to Greenland so that they could take pictures of the British Fleet on the otherside since the Earth curves back on itself near the "holes in the poles" and they could take the pictures from above. They literally pointed their cameras up to see the other side.

I wonder, can you can mistake a seagull for a cruiser?

I take it, then, that you are unfamiliar with Fata Morgana, what the Icelanders call the "halgerndingar"? Looking for ships makes no less sense than searching for Crocker Land, or perhaps more.

I wonder what other crazy conspiracy theories we can find that people seriously believe in?

You're on the wrong company's message boards, if that's what you're after. There's a little company I used to work with that actually calls their convention volunteers Men In Black. That's all I can say. Fnord.

Anyway, I'm related to a guy who honestly believes that the US government was trying to destroy New Orleans. His evidence? They didn't nuke the hurricane. Yes, that's right. He wanted us to kill the weather with nuclear weapons. I started to explain that a hurricane contains more energy than an atom bomb, and that fallout might be an issue, but you know what? I don't need the hassle. I took a drink of the beer I always keep handy when this guy is in town, and asked about sports. Football probably. American. Like I cared. I'm pretty sure he managed to blame the government for Brett Favre's transfer to the Jets.

For years another relative of mine was convinced that the Chinese were launching space mirrors to focus a solar beam intense enough to destroy a city. I tried explaining about how solar sails work, the difficulty of atmospheric interference (wouldn't be a problem on Mars, though), and the sheer size you'd need to get a parabolic mirror with a focal length long enough to punch through with enough energy to toast a weenie, let alone Los Angeles. But, again, life is short. Beer is cheap. I took a swig and asked about how my sister was doing.

There's a reason my family thinks I'm an alcoholic. And hey, as far as they're concerned, fair cop.

Just as the question asks above. Is it worth it?

Thanks

Yes.

It is also possible to win at blackjack.

The reason casinos still offer blackjack is that everyone knows it is possible to win, but almost nobody actually has the skill to do so. As a result, people take stupid risks believing that they are not risks at all.

That was what preachers call an "illustration". I might call it an analogous cautionary observation, but I'd need a couple beers first. I don't break out the solid gold vocabulary for just any occasion.

For new players, I always suggest retaining a single clas. It is easy to end up with an unworkable combination, to be distracted by all the shiny possibilities and lose track of what you actually need to succeed (success = have fun), or to become bogged down in mechanics and nit-pickery… like this thread.

I assume it shall be done, but the sooner the better. (Yes, I have to wait until Thursday at the latest, but I have the book NOW, I want to play with it NOW.) And, if I've missed where it actually already exists, please point me in the right direction.

Just one question: Is it 3e or 3.5?

It's 3e, but the system update is not terribly relevant to the setting. Nyambe is a "total conversion", with new classes, equipment, and so forth.

Anybody play this? Just wondering if it was any good. It certainly sounds interesting.

I did, and it was. I ran a short campaign in the setting when it first came out. It went quite well, and had several "quotable" moments that lasted down the years.

The stable of writers… well, I'm sure it seemed like a good idea at the time. But I came to Paizo to get away from Ye Olde Passive Voice Duffers Patrol, luminaries of which august body pepper the credits page like deposits of mouse excreta upon the family silver.
