About Dorin Thunderbrew
Born in the slums of Highhelm in the Five Kings region, Dorin was orphaned at such a young age that he doesn't remember his parents. Always a hardy lad, he learned to defend himself with his fists and used his prodigious strength to excel at wrestling his fellow orphans.
One day, his gang of rapscalions tried to break into a popular travelers' inn late at night to steal food. His group was caught in the act and forced to run for it. During this paniced escape, Dorin bravely sacrificed himself - grappling with the innkeeper while his comrades slipped out the windows. Impressed by his spirit (and his strength), the inkeeper elected not to turn him in. Instead he offered Dorin an opportunity to work off his debt in the tavern.
Dorin quickly took to brewmaking - developing quite a knack for the hoppy ales that were the hallmark of the inn. He was awed by the variety and verve of the inn's clientele and tried to learn as much as he could about the outside world of adventurers. One night, a vibrant, charismatic human warrior made quite the impression on young Dorin. A hearty drinker, laugher and singer, the man captivated the crowd with stories. He even won the local boxing competition, beating all the local dwarven champions, even Dorin himself - all while roaring drunk. The next morning, all that was left of him were fuzzy memories, but a life had been changed forever.
For months after that, Dorin wrote down everything he could remember about that drunken night and studied it as if it were gospel. In emulation of that night's performance in the ring, he developed a brutal training regimen which combined pugilistics, wrestling and, of course, drinking and singing. Convinced that he needed to emulate his hero and tales of his own, Dorin deecided to leave the city and travel the world.
Thus, the first (and maybe last) monk of Cayden Cailean was born....
[Dorin believes the man actually was Caydean Cailean, which is impossible, but you can never tell...]
