I was recently building a Halfling Cavalier and I came to the conclusion that I wanted a Chocobo Knight, but the Axe Beak advancement at level 4 didn't really compliment the compact rider I was going for. By using the Monster Advancement rules I was able to come up with a smaller alternative. Axe beak, Diatryma: Starting Statistics:
4th Level Advancement:
This allows for level 4 characters retain their Medium sized mount while keeping the awesome Sudden Charge ability. I hope this idea helps everyone in making a Chocobo Knight :)
Ok using the Monster Advancement Rules I've come up with this solution: Axe Beak, Diatryma: Starting Statistics:
4th Level Advancement:
This basically just reduces all of the Medium Axe Beak's stats to a small creature, allowing it to advance normally at level 4 up to the stats of a level 1 regular axe beak + sudden charge.
Secret Wizard wrote: All logic says that it should grow to Large and obtain the typical stat changes at level 7. Well the druid companion states that a regular Axe Beak starts Medium but increases to Large at level 4, I'm looking to see if I can customize it to start off as small and advance to Medium at level 4. I just don't want to have a large mount for my Halfling Cavalier but still get the advancement bonuses aside from the +2 to Dex and Con.
Hello there I'm designing a Halfling Beast Rider Cavalier that will be riding a Diatryma, the smaller version of an Axe Beak, but it seems like there's no stat block for such a creature. http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/animals/axe-beak/diatryma Is there any way to make it into a druid animal companion? Possibly one that starts as a Small creature and advances to become Medium at lvl. 4? I don't really want to Take a regular axe beak and prevent it from growing to Large because Sudden Charge is such an amazing ability. Any advice on how to make this work would be much appreciated.
Ok so I was picking a drawback for a half elf magus I wanted to play and I came across a weird loop hole. The half elf Elven Immunity states:
And the Sleepy drawback states:
Does that mean if I take this drawback I would be technically getting a trait for free, having my elven immunities counteract the penalty? Or am I not allowed to do this?
Hey there I am playing around with the idea of running a barbarian sometime in the near future, I was hoping to get some constructive advice on the feats and rage powers I want to pick: 1. Power Attack
Thank you for the help everyone
So I am looking at making a Kobold Gunslinger for an upcoming campaign and I was wondering what archetype to take. I am looking to make a long ranged shooter kind of like a sniper, would Musket Master or Bushwacker make a better choice? The pro for Musket Master is that I would be able to add Dex to my damage rolls (which would be nice) and for Bushwacker I get sneak attack damage. Is that really viable? Anyway thanks for the prompt responses
Ok I see what you mean. The grammar of the Feat implies otherwise though. It makes it seems that the Full Attack action becomes a swift action. It would make more sense if it was written "You can take a full-attack action 'after' activating abundant step or casting dimension door as a swift action." or something equivalent.
Ok so bare with me I am relatively new to Pathfinder and I need some expert advice on this feat. I am playing a Monk and if everything is how I think it is this feat can make him pretty OP. I could be wrong but hey that's why I am asking you guys. Now this is what the feat states: Benefit: You can take a full-attack action, activating abundant step or casting dimension door as a swift action. If you do, you can teleport up to twice your speed (up to the maximum distance allowed by the spell or ability), dividing this teleportation into increments you use before your first attack, between each attack, and after your last attack. You must teleport at least 5 feet each time you teleport. Special: A monk can use additional points from his ki pool to increase his speed before determining the total speed for this teleportation. Here are my questions: 1) Must I use Abundant Step to be able to use my Full-Attack Action as a Swift Action? Or can I use it as a Swift without even moving? 2) Since Flurry of Blows is a Full-Attack Action (pg. 57, Core Rulebook) I would be able to use FoB with this feat as a swift action, and since you can use BOTH a swift action and a Full-Attack Action in a round (pg. 181, Core Rulebook), could I use FoB twice in a round? If what I am reading is correct, I could dish out 14 hits at level 17. That seems oddly OP to me, so if anyone could clarify that would be much appreciated. |
