Female half-orc Slayer/7

Thanks for all the fun everyone! There's something satisfying about the game 'fading to black' rather than not having closure.

Joana, it would have been great to have you play with us in Eberron but I totally understand.

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Zeljka couldn't bear to deal with possibly dead children. She had barely survived the loss of her own children and the lifeless bodies of the small mjusi were drudging up memories that she had taken great care to bury.

To distract herself, the half-orc joins Achahut in his searchings. She helps pull everything off all the bodies before unceremoniously dispatching them. "These will be helpful for both the mjusi and Pridon's Hearth. Hopefully there are settlements to go back to."

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Zeljka grunted in satisfaction as both Min and Achahut bring Daruthek to death's door. She raised her falchion in the hope of finishing the evil Swamp Speaker off for good.

+1falchion,studied target,bull's strength,combat advice: 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 13 + 2 + 2 = 20
damage: 2d4 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (2, 2) + 9 + 2 = 15

Son of a...hopefully a coup de grace means his AC would be lower. Otherwise this is more for story telling purposes than actual purposes :)

Female half-orc Slayer/7

As Achahut reeled in Daruthek, Zeljka readied her falchion. As soon he was within her reach, she started to carve him up. She began by targetting his thigh with her blade. But his squirming and the nearness of the others, caused her to pull up at the last minute and she missed.

+1falchion,studied target,bull's strength: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 13 + 2 = 17
damage: 2d4 + 9 ⇒ (2, 2) + 9 = 13

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Zeljka felt Nsizi's magic flow into her, specifically her throwing arm. In that moment, she was sure that it would hit her target...it had to after all because it was their only chance to drag him down to their level.

spear,studied target,guidance: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 7 + 2 + (2) + 1 = 25 Using her AP because I can't hit him otherwise
damage: 1d8 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 2 = 14

With her augmented strength the spear pierced Daruthek through the abdomen. The weapon was affected by gravity, making it an effective anchor as Achahut began to pull on the rope. With no possibility of the spear pulling out of the Swamp Speaker when pulled, he was dragged back to the ground.

Female half-orc Slayer/7

"Good thinking, Nsizi," the half-orc grunted. Zeljka hefted the spear and tested the balance with the rope attached before firing it at Daruthek.

spear,studied target,bull's strength: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 11 + 2 = 16
damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

But the attached rope threw off the half-orc's aim and it didn't go quite high enough. Luckily the rope was attached making it easy to retrieve the spear.

Female half-orc Slayer/7

I am also confused as to what we're supposed to be doing. Do we act again?

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Zeljka seethed in hatred as the Swamp Speaker did precisely what she expected him to. It didn't matter that he was a coward or that she knew he was a coward. What mattered was she bring the flying rat down to her level. Drawing and nocking another arrow, Zeljka sent it flying at Daruthek. Sadly the arrow just grazed the evil mjusi and even though it made a hole in his robes, it did not accomplish what she had hoped.

longbow,studied target,combat advice: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 2 + 2 = 21
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Nsizi, we have 3 spears listed in our loot so you can use them...not?

Female half-orc Slayer/7

I had forgotten the studied target bonus to damage so I just edited it to reflect that bonus.

Female half-orc Slayer/7

That's scary Ang because I was thinking the same thing but reversed, Zeljka launching Achahut because she has a 22 strength right now.

Just took another look at the map and realize that it's probably not possible to launch herself off the platforms so she'll most likely switch to her bow.

Zeljka switched back to her longbow and made use of Min's magic to let loose two arrows at the Swamp Speaker. The first arrow flew wide but the second one found its mark and buried itself in Daruthek's abdomen.

longbow,studied target,haste: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 2 + 1 = 13
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
longbow,studied target,haste: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 2 + 1 = 26
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Do we have any more dispel spells/scrolls? I'm fairly sure him flying isn't natural.

After her second arrow hit the Swamp Speaker, Zeljka grunted, "Are there any more scrolls or spells that make magic disappear? He has to be flying by magic which can be ended, right?"

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Zeljka was growing increasingly frustrated. She hated the idea of switching to a more ineffective weapon, not to mention that is probably when Daruthek would fly within reach again. She also hated waiting for the coward to descend.

If she uses the platforms that the children are laid on to jump off of and launch herself, is there any way she can reach Daruthek? And if possible, what kind of rolls would she be looking at to do so?

Female half-orc Slayer/7

So much for Zeljka hefting Achahut into the air to snag the Swamp Speaker and bring him down to the ground...unless the obscuring mist is dispelled. Can Zeljka continue to hold her action? She can't do anything if (a)the obscuring mist stays or (b)the Swamp Speaker stays aloft.

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Yes! Do it Min :) We have a blast together in Eberron. Don't worry about whether you know anything about Eberron or not because I didn't. Fabian always gives us enough info. It's the game of mine where I enjoy the player interaction the most.

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Zeljka finished off the remaining cleric before her. She brought the blade down on its neck. The lizardfolk was hewn in two by Zeljka's deadly blade, each half falling to the ground.

+1falchion,bull's strength,studied target,power attack/furious focus,haste: 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 13 + 2 + 1 = 34
damage: 2d4 + 9 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 3) + 9 + 6 + 2 = 23

She then readied her blade for the next time that the Swamp Speaker buzzed her.

I don't think she needs her second attack to dispatch the cleric. Is there anything else within reach that she can hit with the second attack?

She's readying her action to attack the Swamp Speaker when he comes in for another attack.

Female half-orc Slayer/7

With Bull's Strength, Zeljk'a strength bonus is +6 and because she's using her weapon with two hands, the bonuses increase by 50%. I think I calculated everything right but dammit I'm a scientist, not a mathematician :)

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Did Zeljka get a second attack last round? I may have forgotten it :( I don't suppose our benevolent GM would allow it in retrospect?

Zeljka was a blur of blade as she finished off one cleric before using her falchion's momentum and cutting deeply into the other beside it.

+1falchion,bull's strength,studied target,power attack/furious focus,haste: 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 13 + 2 + 1 = 27
damage: 2d4 + 9 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (1, 3) + 9 + 6 + 2 = 21
+1falchion,bull's strength,studied target,power attack,haste: 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 13 + 2 + 1 - 2 = 22
damage: 2d4 + 9 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 4) + 9 + 6 + 2 = 24

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Did Zeljka's arrow not actually do the damage to Daruthek? She passed his AC with her attack but he's still listed as healthy.

Zeljka saw the other two clerics emerge and she decided to focus on helping Achahut rather than shooting arrows at the Swamp Speaker. She heard Min speak strange words before feeling like everything was sped up. Moving forward she engaged the cleric nearest to her with her trusty falchion and augmented strength. Her blade cut deep and practically gutted the cleric before he knew what hit him.

+1falchion,bulls strength,studied target,power attack/furious focus,haste: 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 13 + 2 + 1 = 20
damage: 2d4 + 9 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (4, 2) + 9 + 6 + 2 = 23

I think I calculated the bonus to damage with power attack because Zeljka's BAB is over 4 and she's using the weapon with both hands.

I'm counting all lizardfolk under the same studied target. If Daruthek and the clerics need to be separated as studied targets, let me know. Even if Zeljka takes that away from her attack, she'd still hit with a 18.

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Zeljka will take her CMW potion for Action 1.

Action 2:

"Coward! Zeljka bellowed. "Come down and fight!"

intimidate: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

Pulling out her bow, Zeljka nocks an arrow, studies her target, and lets it fly at the Swamp Speaker.

longbow,studied target: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 7 + 2 = 26
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Zeljka already suggested camping so she's down with that.

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Yeah, I get that for the middle but what about the line of white between N2 and N15?

knowledge,nature: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 Nope

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Zeljka grunted, "This room is secure enough. We can rest here for the night. It's no different than camping."

Did anyone ever identify the royal jelly? Doesn't that also aid in healing? Although that may also raise another question, what happened to the bees? Maybe we shouldn't stay here :)

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Is the whited out part of the map a plinth stop or is that the secret entrance to the contraption that no one knows about? Which we can't access easily because it isn't a plinth stop?

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Zeljka wasn't happy to hear that they had destroyed all the storm seeds yet things hadn't ended. "Sounds like we need to destroy this contraption and kill the Swamp Speaker before this is all over."

Action 2:

The half-orc collected two potions from the bodies of the cleric. She passed one to Achahut and kept one herself. "These should heal many of Achahut's and my wounds but it may be best to rest before confronting the Swamp Speaker, as Min suggested."

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Zeljka nodded in greeting. "I'm glad we were able to free you. How long have you been here and why did they imprison you? Did they require something of you? I assume it was the mjusi calling himself the Swamp Speaker who lured you here? Do you know where the rest of the lizardfolk are?"

Female half-orc Slayer/7

I will do my best to finish him off but Zeljka will need help.

Zeljka turned on the last remaining lizardfolk along with the others. Her blade cut deeply but somehow the mjusi managed to keep his feet; however, with the help of the others he was quickly dispatched.

+1falchion,studied target,flank: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 11 + 2 + 2 = 27
damage: 2d4 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (4, 4) + 7 + 2 = 17

Action 2:

Zeljka took a look at the bars to see if there was any way to free the woman. "Don't worry, we'll find a way to free you."

perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Zeljka gave the mjusi left facing her a feral smile before carving him up like his leader. Her blade sliced deeply into its thigh and they started to bleed profusely.

+1falchion,studied target: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 11 + 2 = 23
damage: 2d4 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (4, 2) + 7 + 2 = 15

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Zeljka snarled at her two attackers and attacked Uurgu with a vengeance, it was his turn to be hurt after all. And hurt him she did. She repaid the damage he did to her elbow by practically cleaving him in two with her blade.

+1falchion,studied target: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 11 + 2 = 31
damage: 2d4 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (1, 1) + 7 + 2 = 11
confirm crit: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 11 + 2 = 33 Yes! In your face
damage: 2d4 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (3, 1) + 7 + 2 = 13

Female half-orc Slayer/7

You spell honor like a Brit! Ah, tiny plaid ninjas :)

No AoO on Uurgu for casting a spell in front of Zeljka?

Zeljka studied the lizardfolk before attacking, looking for weaknesses and vulnerabilities. She struck at the other cleric with her blade like one would an annoying insect, weakening him as well.

+1falchion,studied target: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 11 + 2 = 19
damage: 2d4 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (4, 2) + 7 + 2 = 15

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Zeljka's voice rumbled threateningly in her throat, "You were warned." She takes a couple steps forward and brings her readied weapon down on Uurgu and opened a devastating gash across his torso.

+1falchion: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
damage: 2d4 + 7 ⇒ (3, 2) + 7 = 12

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Zeljka growled, "How about you surrender and you don't die."

intimidate: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

The half-orc moved further into the room, weapon readied to do some damage. She eyed the woman trying to figure out if she was in any position to help them.

perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27

Is the woman conscious and aware of us? The cell would suggest she's a prisoner but does she look to be in distress at all over her situation?

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Zeljka looked at the keyhole. "We never found a key on anyone, did we?"

She took a closer look at the doors in their entirety, looking for possible traps.

perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27 Can't get much better than that

Fairly confident in what she found, she said to the others, "You should probably step back in case this goes sideways." She then attempts to open the door.

disable device: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15 Crappity. Probably taking some damage :(

Female half-orc Slayer/7

The half-orc was surprised at the turn of events. "I never want to do that ever again. Cold was bad enough but that was hellish. That was good thinking Nsizi, using the scroll. I guess we just have one seed left now."

Zeljka grunted, "I agree with Achahut but I'm also not sensitive to spirits like you are."

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
nonlethal: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 5) = 8
Fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

This was the first time Zeljka had spent a significant amount of time in this hot room and she felt it draining her energy. Somehow she managed to move up to the salamander and she takes a swing at it with arms that felt like lead. Because she could barely lift her arms, she missed connecting her weapon with the creature.

+1falchion: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
damage: 2d4 + 7 ⇒ (2, 4) + 7 = 13

Female half-orc Slayer/7

She'll take one ranged shot and then keep moving up for next round.

Unslinging her newly strung bow, Zeljka took a shot at the salamander.

bow: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6

There's no DC for the salamander but I don't think that'll hit.

Growling in frustration at the lack of success with her ranged weapon as of late, the half-orc switched weapons to her trusty falchion as she moved towards the fire creature.

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
non-lethal: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 Not staggered

I guess that Zeljka catches up to the other two? Can she attack?

Female half-orc Slayer/7

As soon as Min cast her scroll and Nsizi did his healing, Zeljka was moving back towards the salamander so I don't know how she got behind. Is it because she was staggered in the rolls you did?

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Does Zeljka have to make more Fort saves? You did hers in your last post, or was that for something else?

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Once Min read the scroll, Zeljka started heading back into the firey furnace to face the salamander. She had to push past Nsizi and Achahut and she didn't relish the thought of fighting it on her own but she'd do what needed to be done.

Is the salamander following or does she have to go all the way back? If it's following, she'll also attack but if not then she'll be moving to get back. Let me know whether to roll her attack.

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Zeljka can cover everyone's retreat to the bedroom but there's no guarantee that it'll follow if it is technically the guardian of the seed.

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
nonlethal: 1d6 ⇒ 5 For pity's sake!
Fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

Before moving forward to attack the fire creature, the half-orc asks, "Do I just hit it or does someone know how we're supposed to fight that thing? Should we see if it'll follow us back into one of the lesser hot rooms?"

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Zeljka will want to get through the room and the northeastern door but she'll need a little more guidance from the others about how to fight the haunt if that's what we need to do.

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Zeljka went alongside Min and supported her, prepared to drag or carry her if necessary. "You can and you will."

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
nonlethal damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5 Apparently Zeljka's like me in that she doesn't do well with extreme weather temperatures.
Fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

The heat was playing with Zeljka's vision because everything seemed wavy and it was draining her energy. Growing up in the north, she had never experienced such heat. She wasn't sure that she could take much more while wearing her armor. "This seems similar to that thing we encountered at the Fort. I think you called it a haunt? Do we just keep going? I don't want to stay here any longer than necessary."

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Action 2:

Zeljka touched the door briefly and the heat it radiated would be problematic if she had to hold it long enough to pull it open. "It would be best to use something to protect my hands from the heat." Digging out her bedroll, she uses the fabric to wrap around her hands to act as a buffer before she grasped the door handle to heft it open.

Anything else before Zeljka opens the door?

Does she need to roll a strength check?

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Action 1:

Zeljka stepped up beside Achahut and slashed at the evil cleric closest to her. She practically gutted it as her blade cut deeply.

+1falchion,studied target: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 11 + 2 = 19
damage: 2d4 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (4, 4) + 7 + 2 = 17

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Zeljka was already bringing her falchion back around to finish off the cleric before her. She studied the lizardman briefly before her blade sliced through his hide from clavicle to thigh.

+1falchion,studied target,combat advice: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 11 + 2 + 2 = 27
damage: 2d4 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (4, 4) + 7 + 2 = 17

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Zeljka grinned as she realized their presence had gone unnoticed. Moving quietly and quickly, she drew her falchion and attacked the praying clerics.

stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 Hoping that doesn't actually spoil our surprise :)

+1falcion: 1d20 + 11 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 11 + (5) = 18 Using my AP because otherwise it would be a waste of a surprise attack
damage,sneak attack: 2d4 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (1, 1) + 7 + (6) = 15

Female half-orc Slayer/7

While Nsizi searched the remains of the cube, Zeljka dug out another bow string from her pack and restrung her bow. To the posed question she said, "Either, or - it doesn't matter. You want to do hot then we can do fire. At least I'll finally thaw out. We'll definitely have to make use of those rings."

Female half-orc Slayer/7

Zeljka will have a spare bow string for the weapon. There's just no time to restring right now.
