Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
Hmm, now I'm conflicted. My Paladin idea seems really cool, but Zel is awesome in her own right...I've been debating this issue for a few days now. Having a tough time deciding. As for Tasha, well, both of my character choices come with healing support, Zel a little more than this new guy I'm working on. So if Tasha wants to come, that's fine. If I decide against Zel, that just means the party becomes all male. So a female perspective will be nice.

It had been a wonderful date, when all was said and done. Eating good food, having pleasant conversation with the handsome elf, enjoying the evening's entertainment - the music was perhaps not completely to the half-orc's tastes, but she didn't let such a little thing ruin the event. For a few hours, she let herself forget about being a warrior and a craftswoman, and just allowed a little bit of happiness to shine in her heart. She was quiet on the trip back, looking out of the carriage window, thinking. "Thank you for the dinner and show," she spoke up as they ventured close to the campus. "I really enjoyed myself. It's...hard for someone like me to try and be something other than what they were born to be. Both as divinely touched and..." She reached up and touched the tip of one of her small tusks with her finger, letting it speak for herself. "You could say this is probably the first time I've ever felt like...well, a normal woman."
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
The half-orc battle oracle looks rather stunned as she opened the silk bag given to her by Zander. This entire day had been completely surreal to her, wearing a dress and jewelry and nice shoes and now in possession of a lovely brooch. "It...it's well made. You're a good craftsman," she blurts out, attempting to put it on herself, pinning it to the dress. She takes a deep breath, before looking at the elven man. If this was all but a dream, she wanted to run with it to completion. She could be happy with just a single night like this one. "Let's go, then."
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
Zeljka thought that she couldn't possibly be more self conscious and nervous about this. That was until Gwendal, the biggest jerk that she had ever met, somehow stumbled across her. Despite knowing that he was more or less only good for fighting, she couldn't help but feel horrible from his mocking laughter and jeers at her current feminine attire. She probably would have run (Well, hobbled) back inside if Tasha hadn't taken that moment to step out, bringing with her a pair of slippers far better than what she had on at the moment. For a moment, all she can do is just stare at them, before graciously accepting the shoes with nary a word. "Lend me your shoulder," She murmurs quietly, leaning on Tasha with one arm so she didn't have to put much weight on her crippled leg to change footwear. Once she has the slippers on, she feels marginally better - though the twisted bones of her left leg are more visible now, they were certainly far better than the dusty boots she had on before. "...Thank you. Though I'm not sure if this was all for nothing or not. He hasn't shown up yet..."

Zel will procure for herself a nice silver and garnet necklace to go with the dress for the night's activities, paying the requisite price for the jewelry before going back to the seamstress. After she's finished with the dress, she'll pay her as well before heading back to the dormitory, for a quick bath and to dress, checking herself in a mirror. Of all things for her to stupidly forget, she forgot to get proper shoes - so she was using her regular leather boots, polishing them to not seem so scruffy. The dress and the jewelry on her...it just seemed so weird. Like she was looking at an entirely different person. Waiting outside the female dorms took every ounce of courage, as she limped into the cool air. The thought of anyone else seeing her in this farce felt just so embarrassing. Like she was a little girl playing at being a princess. Part of her wanted to bolt right back inside and just slip under the blankets of her bed. She stayed out still, waiting on Zander - slightly paranoid that he'd been playing a fool's game on her from the very beginning.

Zeljka takes a look at all of them, thinking to herself as she glanced them over, before picking out the third dress. It had the least amount of frills, and she liked the sleeveless design. That with the solid back...and it was cut in the front well enough for her to display a nice necklace as well. "I'd prefer it with the riding breeches, yes. Thank you," she tells her. After getting herself measured, she darted into the jeweler's next door to see if she couldn't find herself a nice necklace.
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
Zeljka stares at all of the mannequins in the shop, the sleek forms with the feminine dresses. Somehow, they just didn't click for her. She hadn't worn a skirt since she was a little girl, after all. Starting again now when she was an adult seemed like it wouldn't work. She just didn't have the kind of build for it. "I'm going to dinner and a show, apparently...err, is there anything...dressy without actually being a dress? I'm not exactly the type for a skirt, if you can understand that." Though maybe some jewelry would be good for her - she could wear a fancy necklace, probably. "Nothing open back," She added as well. It wouldn't be classy for everyone to see the tattooed visage of battle that adorned her back.
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
The oracle couldn't help but stare at Zander, bashful and fumbling over his words. Could he really be so interested in her, the way that she was interested in him? "That...well, that seems like a good idea. I would like that," She states back to him, trying to keep her composure at the moment. "So, then, I suppose...I'll meet you later tonight. Yes," She nods to him, picking up her sword. "Ah, please, I'll be waiting by the dorms. That's...where I'll be. So." She nods again, before stiffly heading off - her mind whirling. A nice place. Probably the kind of place that someone didn't go in soot-stained peasant clothes or clunky armor. She needed something else - a dress? Where around here would she go to find and buy herself a dress? And on such short notice as well - she doubted she could borrow something from anyone else. Know (Local) on seamstresses: 1d20 ⇒ 14 Diplomacy to gather info on seamstresses: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15

Zel blinks several times underneath her helm at Zander, wondering just what in Gorum's name was going on. She rested on her sword, leaning against it as she spoke back to him. The idea that he actually considered her pretty was just mind-boggling. Absurd, even. Half-orcs didn't do pretty. "No, of course I want to...I mean, I would enjoy it if we did that. Where and when?" She asks.
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
Zel was so surprised by the sudden invitation for dinner that she completely messed up on her sword lunge, over-extending and managing to stumble right past him, before turning around. "Dinner? You and me? Just us?" She asked, wondering if this was some sort of cruel joke he was playing on her. No, that just couldn't be, not from what she had learned about him. "I suppose...well, I guess, perhaps, that wouldn't be a bad idea...err...where, exactly?"
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
The armored half-orc opens and closes her mouth several times when Zander appears, her throat suddenly feeling very dry as she looks at him up close once more. "Th-That's right," She tells him, eternally grateful her helm is covering her face for the most part. "There's no debt to be had. You were injured and I had the means to heal you. I'm sure anymore else would have done the same, I just beat them to the punch," she modestly deflects his praise, before looking towards the battle circle on the grounds. "Well, ah, since you're here and I'm training anyways, I guess, maybe, a spar...if you're up to it. If you're still recovering..." She knew he wasn't, but leaving him a polite way to opt out seemed like fair play here. She was mostly stunned that he wasn't off-put by her race whatsoever.
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
And not wanting to waste space on the gameplay boards, I'll just say Zel will practice by herself until such a time that Zander appears. I also just borrowed a friend's hardcover of UE, so I'm going through that to see if there's anything else I want to add to her wishlist.
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
It seemed that Zel had made a presumption about Tasha - she honestly didn't realize that despite her beauty, the young woman had lived a more or less solitary life. Though she looked immensely surprised by her suggestion. "How did you know it was Zander?" She asked, surprised by her intuition. "...I suppose that I haven't exactly been subtle..." She grumbles, crossing her arms in front of her. She still wasn't exactly thrilled that it was so obvious - if Tasha could figure that out, then Zander would probably do so as well. "Your idea has merit. He can see just how strong I am, and I can see if he's the type to get foolishly upset from being beaten by a woman. Should he pass that test...I suppose that inviting him to a meal would be the next step." She nods to herself, thinking about this. She couldn't help but think that she would be making a fool out of herself - but she'd be a coward if she didn't even try. "Thank you for your counsel. I'll ask him to spar tomorrow - should you need my assistance with that blowhard Gwendal, feel free to call on me. Sometimes a man like that just needs to have his ass kicked before he learns a little respect." Zel stood back up, looking down at Tasha as she shook her hand, before heading off. ******** The next day, Zel got herself strapped into her armor (Half-plate or the +1 Full Plate if it's ready) and headed over to the training grounds, looking for Zander for a spar. She was thankful for her helm - it kept her face mostly concealed, so she wouldn't give away any nervousness.
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
It was the female dorms, after all, and Zel didn't need to put her armor on all of the time. She nodded at Tasha and let herself in, taking a seat where she could find one. Still very nervous about confiding in anyone about her personal feelings. She wasn't going to let that stop her, though - if you didn't know how to do something, find someone who did. "Sorry for bursting in on you like this - don't know if you're busy or not, but I needed some advice," She stated bluntly. Like she always did, she pushed through this hard and fast. "You've probably had your share of suitors, so you probably have a good idea about how to...to talk and respond to someone that you're interested in. Me, I'm far more comfortable on the battlefield or at the anvil - I just don't have any experience, or found anyone interesting before. Now there's this person, who I...want to get to know better." She felt like she was blushing. Probably, seeing how vulnerable she was making herself out to be to Tasha. "I don't know if he's interested in me in the same way, but he's apparently a good enough person - I don't want to pass up the chance, though. So, I thought I'd come to you and see if you have any tips."
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
The nephew of Lady Brightstar. No wonder she was so thankful of her saving his life. Well liked by everyone, which was a good statement to his character. Handsome, though she already knew that, far too well. She didn't manage to find out much about him other than that. Then again, more than a few people looked at her funny when she was asking questions - she supposed it was unusual for her to be wondering about the elven man. She supposed that she knew enough to make her next step. Though what that should be, she hadn't the foggiest. Perhaps she needed to ask someone who was more knowledgeable about such things. Tasha seemed like the kind of woman who'd had her share of affections, perhaps she could help her. So it was that Zel sought out the enigmatic half-elf, out of her armor - dressed in unflattering, dust faded clothes of wool and linen, her gimp leg so much more obvious now it wasn't coated in steel shin guards, limping her way to the woman's room. She rand her fingers through the cropped sides of her hair - she hadn't shaved them for a couple weeks now. The rest of the hair on the top of her head was sheared short, giving her a slight mohawk look. She wasn't entirely unattractive - without the short tusks jutting out slightly from her lips, and the green pallor of her skin, she might have passed for a very fit and muscular human woman. Knocking on Tasha's door, she waits patiently, clutching Zander's note in her hand. Why was she nervous about this? Probably because this was so much out of her comfort zone.

Zeljka stares at the note, rereading it several times just to make sure that her eyes weren't deceiving her. Was it perhaps a cruel joke? She knew that she wasn't exactly the most subtle about...noting his presence. Trying to keep her hot-blooded emotions in check, she carefully folds up the note and slips it in with her belongings, before contemplating the meaning. Obviously he was just being grateful. There really wasn't any other interest he could have in her. Zel was a creature destined for the battlefield and the smithy - a half-orc that couldn't possibly have caught anyone's eye, except perhaps another orc-blooded. Not in the way that half-formed hopes in her heart were thinking. In any case, she really didn't even know him in the first place. He was just a handsome face whose life she had managed to save with a bit of magical triage. But if that was the case, what was the harm of her attempting to get to know him better, then? Perhaps she could ask around, learn a bit more about Zander and his deeds. That seemed like a good start - she needed to be cautious, after all. Rushing headlong like some foolish little girl with a crush was moronic, after all. Diplomacy to Gather Info on Zander: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14

Nathaniel, looking over your Tasha build, I just wanted to point out she couldn't have both Create Wondrous Item and Eldritch Heritage, as both of those require 3rd level (She would only get one feat at 3rd level). "Seeing as you're as you say, 'a rare creature of the elven world', I'd expect you to be able to speak their tongue as well," Zeljka comments, quite amused with the conversation she is having with a winged cat. "Long lived as well, at least compared to common cats. My smith master in my home city had a cat. Hated me, always scratching whenever I tried to pet him. I suppose I've just got one of those faces," She jests, a little mirthlessly. She'll take a seat, glancing around at the others, before taking an apple to nibble on slowly, being as patient as she could be - her good foot taps anxiously, ready to head out on a moment's notice.

"Half-orc. Not that I was expecting anyone to know better," Zeljka mutters, stepping back into view, armor clanking as she moves around. She glances over at the curiously winged cat, the twitch of a smile occurring at the corner of her lip. "There must be some story to explain why you can speak the common language and possess such stylish wings. Perhaps a dragon ancestor in your heritage?" She asks Marie the cat.

Zeljka reaches over and grabs the coffee pot from Gwendal, glaring at him, before taking an empty mug and filling it up for him instead, handing it over. "Other people drink coffee, not just you. Have a little courtesy," She tells him, setting the pot back where it needed to be, grabbing herself a simple apple and biting into it, chewing it slowly. It wasn't just Gwendal who bothered her, but the half-elf girl as well. A complete unknown to her. She wondered what she was doing here.
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
More that she's a young half-orc woman who spent her youth in the shadow of her much, much prettier human mother, and has never really had the opportunity for romance ever in her life, putting her energy to battle instead, and never being smiled at by a very handsome elf before. Of course, this could all be just a fleeting surge of emotions for her. And certainly she's not going to dwell on it so far as they have a job to do.
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
I'm not mad at all. My apologies if it seemed that way. If you want to play your character rude and crass, that's fine. Zeljka isn't hotheaded enough to punch him unless he's really, really being a bastard. As for whom Zeljka was thinking about, that would be Zander, who she basically saved from bleeding out and dying with her healing magic. Also, I've always seen the discussion thread being completely OOC, so I post OOC without tags in it.
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
You're not her type. And if you're confused about the subject matter, perhaps you should read back through the logs if you're curious instead of waiting on others to tell you - if the information is already available, you don't need us to shove the book in your face.
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
As it seemed that everyone is being dismissed to rest for the morrow's activities, Zeljka left to do so. I've always played my characters somewhat introspectively, which is why you can see her thought patterns in my posts. She's not speaking to anyone but herself there.
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
Zeljka nods at Lady Brightstar, understanding that she need to keep calm and rest - recovering magic spent today and preparing for battle tomorrow, leaving the hidden meeting place in order to sleep. It did not come quite as easily to her as it should have - her thoughts mired by confusing feelings and reflecting on that handsome smile she was rewarded with that evening. "...Stupid girl. He was just thanking you," She mumbles as she rolls over to fall asleep.
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
The half-orc listens intently to what Lady Brightstar has to say, essentially repeating the information that she received from Zander. Focusing on the given mission kept her from dwelling on her other feelings right now, nodding at the elven cleric. "We should set off as soon as possible, then. Do we have any leads on where to start?" She asks, flexing her fingers. Seemed like she would have to put her work on the adamantine greatsword on hold for the time being. "Give me thirty minutes, and I'll be prepared to journey wherever we must go." She needed to put her half-plate on - though thinking about it, she realized she would need some help to put it on properly - usually she just tipped a tavern owner or bar maid a small amount of coin to help her put it on. Just realized the rule about half-plate and full plate armor needing assistance in donning or else it can only be donned hastily, reducing the AC by 1 and increasing the armor penalty by 1.
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
Zeljka's introspection is lost as she takes in the grand meeting room, looking around with awe and splendor, particularly interested in the battle tapestries, peering at them and examining all of the details - she especially liked the dragon fights. After taking a look at them, she looked over at the six seats, peering closely at the names, wondering who exactly they were for.
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
Zeljka can't help but bristle slightly at Lady Brightstar's words, looking back at her with a slight glare. "You are mistaking my plight, my lady," She informs her, a little too harshly than she should have. Taking a moment to cool her emotions, she speaks again, much softer in tone. "Forgive me. I am prone to emotional outbursts. A part of my...heritage," she states, with disgust emphasized on the last word. Her eyes glanced back at Zander, now more or less the pinnacle of health. She had no doubt even on death's door he was a far cry more attractive than she'd ever be in a dress and make up. "I am unused to...positive attention from...well..." She mumbles, averting her gaze again, feeling even more foolish trying to explain herself. She was a warrior, blessed by Gorum to be his avatar of battle - but she was also a woman, and she did get lonely at times.
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
Nothing wrong with long posts if they get all the relevant information down pat. Sky colored eyes. Such a pale shade of blue framed by such a handsome face. The warrior oracle couldn't help but stare just a little bit at such a wonderful visage, heat creeping up her neck to her cheeks. His smile was the lynchpin that made her avert her gaze entirely, bringing her hand up to cover her mouth and the tiny tusks protruding slightly from her lips. "You were injured - triage on the battlefield is necessary," She mutters, listening to what he had to say. Zeljka didn't understand most of it, just something about the Venture-Captain and him rummaging through her files and uncovering a plot - and that his name was Zander. A very nice name. Noting his pain, she hesitantly reached out in order to administer another cure spell, before the appearance of the radiant Lady Brightstar made her freeze up and step back, watching a few paces back. Her task was done, of course - keeping him from bleeding out. Now the real healer could get to work, one that wouldn't make Zander feel uncomfortable. She waited, wishing she had her armor to hide under, her helmet to keep her expression from being lain bare to the world, eyes darting back towards the injured elf while he reported. Zeljka graciously accepts the offered potion from the lady, speaking quietly to her. "I could not allow an injured man to die from his wounds when he was in need," She explained, glancing back at Zander again - feeling foolish for staring at him so. He was far from the first handsome man she had met, and most likely not the last - not very many smiled so gratefully at her, though. Nodding as they are directed towards the back stairs, Zeljka starts to hobble in that direction - limping as quickly as her gnarled leg would take her, putting her battle face on. Now was a time for business, not for appreciating a beautiful creature. She really wished she had her armor now, or at least her greatsword - something to show she was a warrior.
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
Made aware of the plight of the traveler by Janthe's shouts, Zeljka gets up to her feet, moving over to take a look at him. "Stay still," She orders him, before gripping his shoulder, a soft pale glow coming from her hand. Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 "That should help you," The half-orc woman states. "Come, have a seat and rest. We need water," she orders, looking at the people just standing around. "Don't gape, just get some, now!"
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
Zeljka pulls up a seat at the table with Tasha, looking over at her. The half-orc woman will order herself a tall glass of cold milk and pay for Tasha's next drink as well. Looking over at Janthe, she arcs her brow slightly. "It's nice to meet you as well." She states back, being very calm about it. Once she has her milk, the woman sips from the glass slowly, looking back over at Tasha. "So, you wish to know more about me?" She asks, thinking to herself. "I can tell you first of all that I was born and raised in Kaer Maga, inland Varisia," She tells her. "Did all the sort of foolishness that youth do - joined a gang, got involved in some fights, nearly got myself killed. My mother had to take me and put me under apprenticeship with Master Talk as a smith. Looked as if I was to have a promising career, if not for my leg," She tells them, patting her left knee. "With that came a sort of...calling, I suppose. The din of battle on the horizon, just over the next ridge, out of sight but just there...I almost always hear it. The clash of weapons and armor, the screams of the dying and cheers of the victorious..." She pauses, looking at the assembled. "...Sorry. I'm rambling. Tell us something about yourself, Tasha."
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
Zeljka looks a bit surprised - she didn't mean to be overheard as she was. "Sorry. I made a wrong assumption," She tells the elven woman. "I am Zeljka. May I join you? The least I can do for mistaking your identity is to buy your next drink." Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
Zeljka grins a bit at what the young Alastar had to say about coming here. "You know what makes you a man? About four or five years, judging from the looks of you now. But becoming a warrior? That just takes experience," she tells him, reaching out and adjusting his sword arm. "Spar as much as you can, whenever you can. Learn through battle, when to duck, when to dodge, when to strike and where to do it. Keep doing this, and when it comes to real fight, you're much more likely to survive." So everyone knows, Zeljka's open challenge to battle and the reward of a night's paid bar tab is also available to PCs as well. Should anyone want to spar.
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
Zeljka will be more than glad to give a few pointers on combat to the young man on the next day, showing him how to improve his stance and maximize the usage of his shield. "Speed is important - lowering your shield to attack and bringing it back up quick enough to not leave ay openings. Remember that the shield is also mobile - don't leave it static, adjust it's position according to the attack you're blocking. I'd show you a good stance, but my leg...anyways. Balance your weight between front foot and back foot. You're a defensive fighter, so remember to keep yourself ready to step back to reduce the force of a blow."
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
Zeljka nods to the young man and helps him back up to his feet. "You have a good arm. I'll be sporting a bruise where you hit me, even through the armor," She compliments him, before giving a salute and letting him be on his way. She'll spend the rest of her training time doing drills before retiring for the night, to resume her duties at the forge and the training grounds the next day - giving another open challenge then.
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
Zeljka nods, picking up her greatsword, preparing to fight the challenger to knockout or yield. I'll roll three attacks for her, with a -4 for nonlethal fighting. I'm thinking whomever rolls the more successful hits wins - in case of a tie, whomever rolled the highest number. Sound fair? 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 6 - 4 = 11 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 6 - 4 = 7 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 6 - 4 = 11
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
During her daily training, Zeljka will probably have some mock battles with other participants on the field at the time. Always using nonlethal attacks, of course, as she doesn't want to actually kill anyone here. She'll challenge one person a day for a spar during her training time. To sweeten the deal, she'll pay the drink tab for one night of anyone who manages to best her.
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
I'm assuming that since she spends 8 hours a day working on the adamantine greatsword, she does have 8 hours left in her day (Excepting the 8 hours a night for sleep) where she can go and head out to the training grounds - perhaps just a couple of hours. The rest of her time would be divided between prayer, eating, and perhaps striking up conversation with the less prejudiced people of the academy (seeing as a half-orc might not be treated courteously by some members). When she has the time, Zeljka will don her half-plate and bring her greatsword over to the training grounds. Her limp is very prominent, but she doesn't allow herself to be bothered by it, more than ready for any test that Sir Wolfram has for her to demonstrate her battle prowess. Saluting the paladin when she sees him, Zeljka speaks courteously to the knight. "Forgive me if I am not entirely on form - the tasks of the smithy take great strength and endurance."
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
With a +4 bonus from Torag, Zeljka is more than able to take 10 on both the mastercraft component and the regular blade, with a result of 22 for each. Under the guidance of Torag, Zeljka hammers the adamantine into the proper shape, tempering it and sharpening the blade, hours upon hours of sweaty, backbreaking work going into the weapon.
Female Half-Orc Oracle of Battle/4
Adamantine. A material so rare that Zeljka had only heard stories, and never worked with the metal herself. She picks it up in her tongs, looking at the unfinished blade. Already the finished project was in her head, a clear picture of what it should look like when it was properly completed. "I would be honored to complete this sword, Master Torag. I'll put in my blood and sweat with every tempering strike." Zeljka will spend 8 hours a day working on nothing but the adamantine greatsword, permitting any days where she will be pulled away from the work. Since it is a martial weapon, Zeljka can make the weekly work DC of 15 by taking 10 (for a total result of 18). However, she'll have to roll for the mastercraft component, unless Master Torag's assistance boosts her modifier by +2, allowing her to also take 10 on the mastercraft component (For a total result of 20 to beat a DC 20). |
