Zaelos's face breaks out in a half-smile as both soldiers spoke up nearly simultaneously to volunteer. Such dedication! They will serve our Empress well! He waves off their words with a small hand gesture. "Before we rush off to assist our team, it would be prudent to determine they are not under duress, as I believe radio silence was called for." He sends a quick burst to Romm. "Understood Captain. How many techs do you require?" Shanosuke, Zaelos is sending a coded message requesting confirmation of a duress code from Romm. In other words, he is trying to determine whether Romm has been captured by the Rebels.
No worries, Shanosuke. Shanosuke:
Zaelos responds to Kylon. "Good job. Stand by for further instructions." Zaelos nods in satisfaction as the stealth team returns. "Well done. We don't know how long we have before the patrol is missed so let's get moving." He turns to 'look' at Arana. "Arana, can you assist Romm here?" Destiny roll: Force roll: 1d12 ⇒ 11 2 lightside.
Zaelos draws his own pistol and allows the soldiers to do their job. He quickly motions for Arana to watch behind them for any other approaching Rebel teams. "I am going to see if there are any other teams nearby, so watch my back." He stretches out his Force Sight only outwards a short distance, mindful of other Jedi that may be around, as he pinpoints the other teams... Perception: 2d12 ⇒ (3, 6) = 9 Success, Advantage. Shanosuke, let me know what Difficulty dice I need to add here.
Whoops! I thought we had a good set of Computer Use skills between all of us...I guess I should have checked further, he he. The main reason Zaelos was trying to avoid using violence was to keep sliding to the Dark Side. Unconsciously I have been playing him as a Jedi-in-training here, plus too his species is not a violent one (Visas Marr notwithstanding!) On further thought, I think if we can get a jammer here it would be worth the risk. If we cannot get access to one then I think ambushing the Rebels is the best (if not optimal) option here.
Zaelos tears himself away from his own pleasant thoughts and nods quickly to the soldier. "Yes, we can't let them get caught by those guards." Holstering his weapons, he rises to his feet and motions to the others. "Let's go people." Once the team has moved off, he sends a short encoded transmission to the other team leaders informing them of his team's response and warning them of possible additional Rebel patrols.
Zaelos nods in reply. "Very well. I trust you guys here to handle this. We will back you up here, and we will make sure you are not interrupted." He blushes as Yallie says goodbye to him and he 'stares' after her. "May the Force be with you, Yallie." As his group settles into position, Zaelos stretches out his Force senses looking for any hidden surprises for each of the groups. Perception: 2d12 ⇒ (11, 8) = 19 Success, 3 Advantages
Unfortunately his thoughts stray to Yallie a little too much....
Zaelos turns to face his teammates trying to read their body language as to the soundness of Romm's plan. Though his heart quailed at the thought of sending Yallie into harms way, he also knew what needed to be done here. "Since you three teams have the most experience working with one another, and since timing is crucial at this juncture, you three teams will tackle the guns while my crew will stay here as backup. I leave it to your discretion which embankments you wish to tackle here." The decision made, he waits for any objection from his own team who may want to take a more proactive role here... Zaelos is waiting for input from the others here before he issues the actual orders.
Zaelos is silent for a moment as his vision is overwhelmed by his LOVE. He approaches her slowly and takes her hand in his own, resisting the urge to give her a more familiar greeting. "It is...good to see you again as well...Yallie. I trust I was not too late here?" Force Sensitive players:
You sense the Force aura around Zaelos flickering and expanding wildly like you have never seen before from the normally reserved Mirilukan. It doesn't take much to figure out how Zaelos feels about Yallie here, he he. After holding her hand for a moment, he releases it very reluctantly and turns his attention to Darrell. "Thank you. As for a plan here we will need to infiltrate the area and see if there is a crack in their defenses we can exploit."
Zaelos replies, "We were able to jam the main hangar bay doors shut, trapping the Rebel ships inside. I cannot guarantee for how long however. Time is of the essence. We are already on our way to the final target." Once Tavoes has ended the communication, Zaelos turns his attention to his datapad. "We need to locate the turrets. Let me see if I can track the location down..." Computer check: 2d8 + 1d12 ⇒ (7, 8) + (9) = 24 2 Success, 4 advantages
Zaelos moves into view and addresses Tavoes. "Yes, Commander. We were successful in disabling the Rebel hanger and evading pursuit...for the moment. We are now proceeding to our final objective." He pauses for Tavoes to add anything further before finishing, "We will report once we have achieved the objective. Zaelos out." Once Tavoes's image fades he says to the other team members, "We need to get to the turrets. How far are they from our position?"
Zaelos quickly scans the immediate area with his Force sight to make sure no Rebels took notice of the crash. Once finished, he motions to the others. "Let's get out of sight here. Someone is bound to investigate this crash, and we are running out of time here." As the groups heads off, he nods to Darius. "Do you still have our portable communications kit? We still need to contact Tavoes with an updated report."
Zaelos gingerly rises to his feet, fearing something in his body was broken. Stretching his arms out experimentally showed he was apparently just shaken up a little. Perhaps the Force was with me there... As Arana hurries over, he smiles weakly in reply. "I am OK. I think our ruse may actually work here , but we do need to get out of here before someone shows up to investigate." He motions for Arana to follow him. "Let's go."
Zaelos utters a few choice words in Mirilukan as he collides with the building... Coordination check: 2d8 ⇒ (7, 7) = 14 2 Success, 2 Advantage
He hits the ground with a grunt, feeling his shoulder explode with pain. Gasping for breath, he looks back at the wreckage of the speeders. At least they won't be able to find us now...
OKay I am not sure who is piloting the speeders here. I assume it is Janitor and Zaelos doing the piloting. Let me know if someone else is going to pilot the speeder. Zaelos slips behind the speeder controls and powers up the engines, waiting for Aranna's signal. once the shuttle is in position, he kicks in the repulsors and lifts the speeder out of the open hatch and to the ground below... Planetary Pilot: 2d8 ⇒ (5, 6) = 11 2 advantages
Zaelos shakes his head in reply. "I do think it wise to risk communication again here as the Rebels may determine our next destination. We should stick to the original plan here." Consulting his datapad for a moment he continues, "I believe the defenses have not been upgraded since this report was gathered. Our best way to reach it is by ground. This shuttle will be picked up immediately upon approach of the site, not to mention the fact the entire Rebel force is looking for this shuttle, so we need to find another way to get there."
Zaelos nods to Arana, "Good job on your piloting. Not an easy task but you came through brilliantly." He smiles in appreciation. Turning to the communications board, he taps the panel with the ease of familiarity and configures it to send a coded message on a tight beam burst. "Message for Tavoes: Commander, mission accomplished; hanger is secure. No reprisals necessary. Proceeding to next objective. Zaelos out." Once the message has been sent, he addresses the group. "OK gentlemen, one target remains. It will be a tough shell to crack however. Options?" He waits for their replies. Shanosuke, is the shuttle armed? Any ordnance aboard?
Zaelos turns over the pilot controls to Arana and takes the more familiar position of co-pilot. "Look sharp, Arana. This is going to be a bumpy ride..." Co-Pilot check: 2d8 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6 2 successes.
His co-piloting skills are actually quite passable, but Arana notices he tends to take risky angles of flight closer to the anti-aircraft fire. "Hang in there, Darius. We are not out of the blast zone yet."
Zaelos sprints aboard the shuttle and makes a beeline for the pilot's seat. Take 2 maneuvers to enter shuttle and get to the pilot seat. Quickly he prepares the shuttle for takeoff... Pilot Space: 2d8 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4 2 successes.
Even as the roof lights up with blaster fire Zaelos sprints to the shuttle, zigzagging as he fires at the remaining Rebel infantry. 2 Maneuvers (move to the shuttle) + Attack (Rebel group A): 2d8 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5 2 Success.
While his shot hit its mark, his path leaves him exposed to return fire...
Darius, remember we did jam the hanger so the rebels cannot send any ships from there to shoot us down. Once we get aboard, then we should be able to get away. I was waiting for Arana here to use her Force ability here to hopefully distract some of the guards before we ambush them. But if it won't work then, yeah lets roll some dice here, he he.
Zaelos pauses for a split second, giving an imperceptible nod of approval towards Karval and Janitor's choice of their getaway ship. Like Darius his hand strays to his own blaster. I do not think we can fool these guards much longer. We have to neutralize them quickly... Still, he waits for Arana to act as her skills with the Force would certainly be a welcome distraction at least, allowing the soldiers to get the drop on the Rebel guards. May the Force be with us...
Zaelos nods in agreement with the Rebel guards. "Very well. If those men were Empire agents, we shall track them down." I figure it would be easier to lead them on a wild goose chase for a little bit before dealing with them for good. Also hopefully we can find a good spot to ambush them out of sight of any other guards.
Zaelos feels Arana Force tug and instinctively tries to pick up on the mood of the Rebels guards. Holding his hands out to show he is as nonthreatening as possible, he slowly advances towards them and responds, "Of course. I just heard the alarm raised. My squad here was moving to investigate some people I had not seen before. They looked like maintenance but they disappeared down this path and looked like they did not want to be noticed. I figured on following them to see where they are headed." Not sure if this is Negotiation or Deception here...but obviously I want Negotiation here.
OK my thinking here is we negotiate just long enough to surprise them here. Maybe get close enough to melee with them so as not to alert the other guards with blaster fire. Since the alarm has already been raised, fooling these guards into letting us go will be next to impossible. Thoughts? (Maybe Arana can use her Force powers here.)
Zaelos releases his held breath as the Rebels buy into the deception. "It will not take them long to figure out the truth here. We need to get out of here. Perhaps there is an alternate way out of here. I would imagine there must be a catwalk where the maintenance crews could work on the ships. If we find one we can follow it to a vent or hatch that leads outside the hangar." This definitely sounds like a Perception check right?
Zaelos looks at the doors, an uncertain look on his face. "I do not have the mechanical aptitude to complete this task, I am afraid. There may still be a way to accomplish our task here..." He starts looking for a computer terminal. "If I could introduce a virus into the system to cause the doors to stick in a opening cycle...that should work also." He will look for a terminal, so he can use his Computers skill here.
