Grand Lodge

Thank you for GMing, Batpony :-)

Chronicle looks good.

Grand Lodge

It looks like we are split 2-2 on what to do with the horn so far, and I'm okay with whatever is decided.

Grand Lodge

"Wouldn't the horn be safer from the Duchess away from her home plane? It seems she has few agents or resources on the material plane."

Grand Lodge

Enraged by the blow, even if it only hurt his dignity, Yliss' muscles suddenly grow to twice their normal size and his fingernails grow into claws.

Crunch:
Swift Activate arcane strike
Full Round Full attack (red)

Claw 1: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 24 Magic, Piercing, Slashing: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Claw 2: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16 Magic, Piercing, Slashing: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13

Grand Lodge

Assuming there is space for me to 5-ft. step out of reach . .
.

Yliss backs away several feet, draws a scroll and hastily reads it. His bodies crackles with electricity for a moment, but as the charge dissipates he smiles at the enemy in front of him. "Puny lightning. Yliss killss you!"

Crunch:
Free 5-ft. step
Move Retrieve a stored item
Standard Activate scroll of resist energy (electricity)

Caster Level (DC 4): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

Grand Lodge

Yliss' brow scrunches up and his muscles flex repeatedly, but nothing happens. "How friends make magic work?"

Crunch:
Wisdom: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Wisdom: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Grand Lodge

I want to apologize for my recent (and possibly continued) absence. I'm feeling very burned out right now, and am not sure how much I will be able to reliably handle. Please do not hesitate to bot me, and if necessary, to replace me.

I will do my best, but don't be surprised if my posting is sporadic and low quality for the near future. But above all, do what it takes to make sure that all of you keep having fun.

Grand Lodge

Yliss quickly changes his tunic and rubs some dirt on his scales. "Is thiss good?"

Disguise: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13 Time: 1d3 ⇒ 2 20 minutes

@GM: Do we have time to try again?

Grand Lodge

"Yess, our Venture-Captain Norden Balentiir promised your Ashasar that we would rescue you if needed, and needed it was!"

Diplomacy (aid): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

Grand Lodge

"And I am Yliss. Let us find somewhere warm for you, then we have many questions."

Grand Lodge

Yliss offers Inira protection from the cold as well, but despite the spell, he never stops moving or rubbing his scales for warmth. "Can we please hurry this up?"

Grand Lodge

Yliss gladly touches Xavian and Jian with the wand, then looks at their other allies a moment before sheathing the stick.

Grand Lodge

"Brr . . . I'm cold-blooded as is. Is this too cold for anybody else, too?"

Yliss draws a wand and speaks a couple of words, then taps himself with the stick.

Activating a wand of endure elements, and happy to share if nobody else has protection.

Grand Lodge

Is it cold enough for endure elements to be useful?

"Aren't you the best in town? Everybody we talked to said to come see you. They didn't even talk about your competitors at all!"

Bluff: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

Grand Lodge

"Shouldn't we just leave? He's not interested."

Bluff (aid): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Grand Lodge

Rushing is the only thing I'd specifically like to avoid. If you're going on vacation in August, I'm perfectly happy taking a break for that time.

Grand Lodge

Yliss stares down at the petty criminal, "Yess, you will tell uss what we ask?"

Diplomacy (aid): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Grand Lodge

No potions here, just scrolls and wands :-(

Grand Lodge

Yliss' eyes almost jump out of his skull when the gnome brings out magical gifts. Scroll and wand in hand, the nagaji turns to Glorin, "Isn't he the best ship captain ever? Don't they normally make us pay them?"

After a moment, Yliss realizes that he doesn't can't figure out how to activate either item, and his excitement almost turns into depression. "Does anybody know how to use these? Can you show me how? Please."

Grand Lodge

Yliss' body grows monstrously with his rage, as he rips into the wyrd twice. "Fight me, you coward!"

Crunch:
Free Bloodrage
Swift Arcane Strike
Full Round Full Attack

Claw 1: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30 Magic, Piercing, Slashing: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Claw 2: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28 Magic, Piercing, Slashing: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13

Grand Lodge

Yliss retrieves a scroll and quickly reads it, before stepping toward the fight. "See how easily magic defeats your weapons!"

Crunch:
Move Retrieve a stored item
Standard Activate a scroll of resist energy
Free 5-ft. step

Caster Level (DC 5): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Grand Lodge

Yliss' avid interest quickly spoils once he realizes the flames aren't magical. "Just be fast about it." But his boredom ends as suddenly as it began, once the creatures attack Inira.

"Hey, now! What kind of investigation is this?"

Grand Lodge

Yliss walks up to and around Nix, watching the gnome "burn", then speaks to the buzzing creatures, "What kind of magic is that flame? I've never seen anything like it before!"

Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Grand Lodge

Yliss spends most of his time in the ship's prow, enjoying the sights and the wind.

Grand Lodge

Looks like I do need to level up. Will get on that tomorrow at the latest, hopefully tonight.

Yliss watches the gnome "repair" her ship, then leans down to whisper to her, "Are you sure it's safe? Was that piece important?"

Grand Lodge

I apologize for not posting lately. I have heat exhaustion, and it's a lot more draining in real life than in Pathfinder. I don't even have the mental energy to watch a movie without taking a nap.

The good news is that two days of rest and lots of water is all its supposed to take to recover, so I'll hopefully be back on Tuesday.

Grand Lodge

I haven't gotten one yet.

Grand Lodge

Delay

Grand Lodge

Yliss runs around Glorin and the table, hoping to enter the fight. "Need more space!"

Crunch:
Move Movement
Standard Movement

@Glorin: If you 5-ft. back, I'll enlarge too.

Grand Lodge

At least he acknowledges that it's illogical!

Grand Lodge

@GM: How would you rule the effects of glitterdust in the mist? The way I've run it in the past is it reduces concealment by 1 step:

  • No concealment vs. adjacent creatures.
  • Concealment vs. creatures 10 ft. away.
  • Total concealment vs. creature 15 ft. away or more.

Grand Lodge

Yliss draws a scroll and quickly stumbles through the incantation, but somehow manages to conjure thousands of brilliant motes. "It worked! Can you see them now, Glorin?"

Crunch:
Move Retrieve an item
Standard Activate scroll of glitterdust (DC 13 Will)
Caster Level Check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

I'm assuming the white tokens are where I last saw the enemy, and that my action goes before Xavian's. If either of those isn't true, I would target a different location with the spell

Grand Lodge

"I just want to learn more magic. Can I do that by releasing this Ranginori person or by not releasing him?"

Diplomacy (Aid): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

Grand Lodge

"Not an elf? But they have so much years to study magic!"

Grand Lodge

"A good time, yesss?" Yliss rattles his heavy coin purse while retrieving a gold piece, "Heads, we eat at Primarch's Steakhouse then see a show." Yliss flicks the coin in the air, then holds it in his closed fist while looking at the librarian, "Tails, lady's choice."

Without even opening his hand, he smiles and says, "Look, tails!"

Rolls:
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Reroll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

Mechanically, I am offering a 20 gp bribe to try and gain a bonus.

Grand Lodge

I'll follow whoever leads me somewhere first. Not making any decisions on my own though.

Grand Lodge

Yliss follows Glorin back to the front desk.

Grand Lodge

My intention was to second whatever choice Korez made, but I'll follow anybody who steps up and leads.

Yliss looks at Inira, then the guards, then back at Inira. "Yesss?"

Grand Lodge

Yliss looks at the dogs and nods his head knowingly, then turns to Korez with a question in his eyes.

Rolls:
Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

Grand Lodge

I think other ways would require intelligence and creativity, so Yliss is going for Stealth.

It isn't obvious whether Yliss misunderstood the order for stealth--he did nod his head after all--or is just completely incapable of moving quietly. But either way, the result is a 7' tall form that bends down to about 6'6" and armor that cries out for oil.

Rolls:
Stealth: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6

Grand Lodge

To cast the spell, yes. Once it is active, no. Let's say you cast message while I am standing next to you, then I walk to the other side of a 20 ft. high hill. The spell will actually travel around or over the hill to reach me, as long as the distance traveled is within range.

Grand Lodge

CRB p. 313 wrote:
The message does not have to travel in a straight line. It can circumvent a barrier if there is an open path between you and the subject, and the path's entire length lies within the spell's range.

I've always interpreted that as message requires line of effect, but not line of sight.

Grand Lodge

"This is very powerful and interesting magic. I must study it."

Crunch:
Knowlege (arcana): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Healing 10 from a wand of infernal healing.

Grand Lodge

Oops! I've never critted with that weapon before, and completely missed that it is x4. He is seriously dead. 2d10 + 12 ⇒ (5, 5) + 12 = 22

Grand Lodge

Yliss scores a brutal blow to the fleeing lizard, breaking one of its legs badly enough to push several inches of bone out through the skin. Then having lost track of the beast, Yliss draws a scroll and tries to read it.

Actions:
Move Retrieve a scroll of resist energy
Standard Activate the scroll
Free 5-ft. step
Free Drop the scroll in disgust

Rolls:
AoO (tetsubo): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31 Bludgeoning: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 Concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 41
Confirmation: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31 Bludgeoning: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Caster Level (DC 4): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Wisdom (DC 5): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20

Grand Lodge

Can you move me behind the lizard to flank for Xaian?

"Where are they?!"

A wand pops into Yliss' hand, which he returns to his pack after using.

Actions:
Swift Spring-loaded wrist sheath
Standard Activate wand of shield
Move Store an item

Grand Lodge

"Please, help usss friend. Knowledge is the most filling food, and we are all friends sharing a meal."

Actions:
Cast hypnotic gaze (DC 14) if you'll allow it, otherwise attempt Diplomacy.

Rolls:
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

Grand Lodge

"A kite? What's so important about a kite, can't you just buy a new one?"

Rolls:
Diplomacy (aid): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Grand Lodge

Oh, to touch this Untouchable Opal! "I wish I could trade with you! Magic seems to run in my very veins, but I struggle so to understand it."

Grand Lodge

"A familiar! So, are you a wizard? I study magic, too. I especially like spells that change my body."

Rolls:
Diplomacy (aid): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

Woohoo! I actually succeeded on the one that I do care about :-)
