Oh duh. If you're all right with that, then let's go for it.

Current Points: 2

I wrote a post while on break at work about a week ago, but it must've been eaten up and I didn't catch it.

After years of warring between the two branches of Goliath, The Uyrenian Goliath become known as the Moss Hide, while the Rhekoshan are known as the Crag Flesh.

A sect of Yeveni travel to Uyren where they develop a form of martial arts utilizing their extra arms, martial prowess and spellcasting. They open the Temple of The Eternal Seeker.

Creating an Order of Yeveni monks and specializing them in all things Magi. 6 for creating an Order, 4 for the Yeven of Uyren city maybe? Can you specialize an order?

Current Points: 2

Should we hold off on this age until we find a new player? Can we bump the recruitment ourselves and search for someone? It would be cool to have a new player by the time GM is back so we can just take it from there.

Current Points: 2

Another player may revitalize the group, so I am leaning towards a yes.

Current Points: 2

Yhev remains quiet, watching as the Rhekoshan Goliath and Uyrenian Goliath grow apart down below. He lets out a small gasp when a new generation of Uyrenian Goliath are born.

"Interesting..."

Creating Subrace of jungle dwelling Goliath:

Uyrenian Goliaths (playable)
Advanced in Martial Arts
0rp Standard (+2 Con, +2 Wis, -2 Int)
0rp Language: Standard
2rp Stubborn
3rp Hardy
2rp Climb
3rp Sky Sentinel
1rp Terrain Stride (Jungles)
1rp Low-light Vision
1rp Camouflage (Jungles)
2rp Skill Bonus (Acrobatic)

After living apart from the brutish Rhekosh Goliath, the Goliath of Uyren have grown to be a wiser yet weaker bunch. They've learned to combat their terrible brothers with body and mind, hiding in canopies and leaping to strike down the Rhekoshan Drakes. They've taken on a browner complexion, with moss and lichen growing on their bodies. Their usual rocky outgrowths have taken a woodier look to them.

Current Points: 2

The Goliath city of Uyren (oo-Ear-en) will be located in the jungles surrounding the lake towards the south east.

Current Points: 2

It seems we're gearing up for the next age, I take it?
Yhev concentrates his hands over the Yeveni, imparting knowledge of the void upon them. For a brief time, madness swarms among the Yeven as they try to contain the knowledge. They harness it and it becomes one with them.
Advance Civilization -5: Void Magic

Elsewhere, the Goliath and their Or'Khen flying army disperse across the land, founding another city, Uyren Exact location tbd. Goliath of Uyren are less destructive as their Rhekosh brothers, opting to better their bodies through physical training. Shortly after being founded they form a militia as a form of defense, and eventually as the city grows, the militia becomes an army.
Command Race to make a new city -4, advance city in martial arts -4, -4 to form army

Voting to keep the age

Current Points: 2

It would seem...
the watcher pauses, as though his attention is diverted.
...beneficial, yes. I sense a wave of violence soon... it would be best that they... make their union more... official. But be warned.... This violence... you will find yourselves on the receiving end.
Holding out to see what Moranus is getting at...

Current Points: 2

Was that all of us?
I'm assuming we are all good with another go in this age? Though we've set ourselves up for a good introduction into the next age, I think we've got a few more races to bring in.

It's so hard to stick to my plans, given that this is age of races and all, but all these escalations are so much fun.

also, yes, popcorn please!

Current Points: 2

Yhev watched as the world changed. "An army.... Interesting, Moranus. It seems the Hawkmen naturally would make such a move. Hopefully such an action will not force any... hands."
Down below, it seemed that Yhev's latest experiment, the Goliaths, had made their mark in the world. First, they managed to overpower and domesticate a genetic offshoot of dragons known as Drakes. They used their drakes as both mounts and weapons of destruction as they cleared the lands known as the dead canyons. Once in control, the dead canyons had become home to the first and greatest permanent settlement of Goliaths, who carved their homes and buildings into the walls of the canyons themselves. Rhekosh, as the city came to be known as, was as terrifying as it was beautiful. If the howling winds that came through the canyons, known colloquially as the Death Call, wasn't enough to keep travelers away, the fearsome warriors known as Or'Khen did the trick. Clad in armor created from various creatures, these warriors were brave and unrelenting.

Perturbed by this development, Yhev sighs.
"Interesting and, yet, as expected. It seems the mighty will forgo more civilized means of conflict-resolution for more direct approaches."

4 points to create a sub race of less intelligent, animalistic dragons known as Drakes.
4 Points to command the Goliaths to create a city within the walls of the Dead Canyons, similar to pueblos.
4 points to have the Goliaths of Dead Canyon become masters of drake riding.
4 points to have the Goliath form an army of Drake Riders known as Or'Khen.

Current Points: 2

My vote is to continue the age

Current Points: 2

The Yaven have been blessed with an innate ability to sense precious split seconds of danger. They've been blessed with above average intelligence. What would become of a creation without such benefits?
Yhev reaches out and plucks bits of hard rock from a mountain and shapes it in a humanoid form. Pulling salt from the seas, he rubs it on the form and breaths life into it.

Ah... Interesting.

Brothers, Sisters, these are the Goliath. Strong, hardy, simple. For now, they will be a problematic lot, but have trust. They will grow to be a better people through their hardships.

Ripping the Goliaths straight out of 4e and adding in a dash of Half-Orc
Goliaths (playable)
1rp Specialized (+2 Str, +2 Con, -2 Int)
0rp Language: Standard
2rp Stubborn
3rp Hardy
2rp Climb
4rp Ferocity
1rp Terrain Stride (Mountains)
2rp Darkvision
Can I gift sects? I Imagine Yhev as their creator, but he would try not to influence them as much as a god and let them develop their own belief system built more around shamanism and mysticism as opposed to worshipping their creator. Maybe they could be an open race for all to do as they'd like? Ideally, I'd like to pit them against the Yaven as sort of mortal enemies.

Current Points: 2

It seems many of us have plans already regarding new races and things like that. Would it be fair to ask what everyone has planned? I don't want to go ahead and make a race knowing that someone else had something similar planned.

Or maybe that's just part of the game

Current Points: 2

@GM Dragonflyer,
I'm sorry if I was a catalyst. I honestly did not see Yhev as being as antagonistic as Na-Rizzer made him out to be.
For the record, Aurus and Yhev aren't in cahoots! Yhev just really feels strongly about potentially earth shattering escalations. Womp womp.

Current Points: 2

@Na-Rizzer:

Too preoccupied to dignify Na-Rizzer with his full attention, Lord Yhev speaks to her as he carries out his work. Seated on a throne of starlight, he works diligently, untangling a ball of yarn with his lower arms, while his upper right arm scribbles esoteric runic symbols, calculations of some sort foreign to all others in the space before him. Six of his eyes focus on the tasks, while his seventh eye, the largest of the bunch, remains closed.
If he so wishes to steal from me, let him.--with his free arm, he pulls out a loose thread--This is nothing to him. it dissipates into a puff of star dustThis is a symbol of my creation. If he so wants it, let him have it. May he steal himself a second pair of shoulders to lift the burden high.--The stardust swirls and sparkles back into the shining thread it was before. He places it on the table and holds his hand out again--You see, Na-Rizzer,--another swirl of stardust and another thread appears--If he wants this, let him steal it out from under my hands. Again, he places the thread on the table. A pile has amassed and the ball has been completely detangled. The rune-working hand steadies as motes of starlight strike the threads and they are lifted. All four hands work in unison with machine-like precision, carefully knitting each thread together into a piece of tapestry.

Lady Death, one hand pauses from the stitching and draws a series of threads from out of Na-Rizzer's possession, and continues to add them to the tapestry. As it leaves her, images of a doomed poet and a pompous necromancer flash through the darkened room. trust in this: Time is on my side. If he wishes to seek me out and diminish me, steal from my work, he will only be freeing me from a curse.
As the piece of tapestry is completed, the motes of starlight lift it up higher, sending it further out until it has joined with others like it. Another piece of history added to the massive Dark Tapestry.

If you'll excuse me, I must continue my work.

I take my idea of True Neutral from Here

Quote:
The "true" neutral looks upon all other alignments as facets of the system of many things. Thus, each aspect--evil and good, chaos and law--of things must be retained in balance to maintain the status quo; for things as they are cannot be improved upon except temporarily, and even then but superficially. Nature will prevail and keep things as they were meant to be, provided the "wheel" surrounding the hub of nature does not become unbalanced due to the work of unnatural forces--such as human and other intelligent creatures interfering with what is meant to be. Absolute, or true, neutral creatures view everything which exists as an integral, necessary part or function of the entire cosmos. Each thing exists as a part of the whole, one as a check or balance to the other, with life necessary for death, happiness for suffering, good for evil, order for chaos, and vice versa. Nothing must ever become predominant or out of balance. Within this naturalistic ethos, humankind serves a role also, just as all other creatures do. The may be more or less important, but the neutral does not concern himself or herself with these considerations except where it is positively determined that the balance is threatened. Absolute neutrality is the central or fulcrum position quite logically, as the neutral sees all other alignments as parts of a necessary whole

And I believe Yhev upheld that role, but maybe I am seeing it differently.

Current Points: 2

If that is what you want to do, then it is your prerogative, but you misunderstand Yhev greatly if you think he is siding with Aurus to bully you.
Yhev is true neutral, and what it seems you are planning to do is unjustified and could cause disastrous repercussions. Now imagine if you were to cause a catastrophe that would wipe out all of Aurus's doing. Would Aurus take it, or would he then follow through with another catastrophe? What you are doing is escalating the natural order of the world. Yhev has no problem with this if it is truly what you'd like to do, but he must speak up if it threatens his work, which it does.
Though the sparklings, or any of the other races, may not be his own, he keeps a watchful eye on them because it is they who feed him with their knowledge. Without these creatures, a great part of his intake is diminished. Yhev must maintain his constant stream of knowledge.

Question: Are your dragons all one of a kind? It seems, by your frustration, that they are, though we may all have been under the impression that they are not.

Current Points: 2

I don't think gods are really concerned with boobys, but I see what you're getting at.

I'll add a profile sometime today. Never quite got around to it.

Current Points: 2

Because who doesn't need a little cold war stand off?

Current Points: 2

"Careful, Rizzer," Yhev's voice rings with a calm strength to it.
"Sow vengeance, and vengeance shall you reap." An inky black ichor raises from the ground ten feet from both Aurus and Na-Rizzer. His golden, seven-eyed mask bobs up and down as he walks his way over to the quarrel.
"You draw your hand against The Thief and his creations, and you will force me to raise my own against you. You act out of spite, out of pettiness. He holds out a hand and a nebulous swirl replays the events as written by not only the Sparklings, but by the Yaven. As it was told to Yhev, it is shown to the two gods.
"It was fate that a creature so cruel as your own "Black" would find itself defeated, dismembered and desecrated by The Sparklings. Is this how you will react after every one of your dragons have fallen at the hands of others? Like a child? Prepare yourself, then."

The swirl's imagery begins to change. Now rife with death, it shows many different races, all creations of the gods, being murdered, some even dissected. Emotion begins to pour out heavily; anger, pain, loss, depression seeps out of the envisaging and faintly touches upon the gods.

"We have known more loss than you ever will. For a goddess of death, you handle it poorly. This is the way of the world we've created. To raise your hand is to force more cruelty. Do not proceed down this path, unless you are prepared for it's consequences."

Current Points: 2

@Na-Rizzer
Not so much of an attempt to turn her, but to see where her loyalties lie. Being the Goddess of death, Yhev would expect Na-Rizzer to hate those who raise the dead just as much as he does. Take it more as Yhev making sure she's still on his general side. After all, I see the two co-dependent, no matter how antagonistic they may get towards one another

Current Points: 2

"Touching, his voice looms as Lady Death takes another, "what has caused you to soften, dear sister? Have you poured out so much of your vileness that you've been left with out?"
His mask floats on behind her, matching her pace step for step as she leads the poet's soul to the after life. The golden mask draws no attention from the poet's spirit and neither does his true voice, the horrid sounds of aeons tearing apart reality, exploding suns , collapsing galaxies.
"Why the change in character? Why such a mercy to a lowly poet? For art?"
The mask chuckles and around him, a cloak of pure light crackles into being like billions of stars burning bright in a blinding display of power.
"I only hope Lady Death isn't losing her edge."
Yhev steps closer to Na-Rizzer and extends an arm from out of the blinding light. The hand carefully coils a fate line into her hand.
"A traveling prophet. Claims he's found that the secret to life is undeath and seeks to share it all with his believers. It seems he will be murdered for his preachings--strangulated at that-- when he is forced to put his beliefs into practice. Welcome back."

And as unannounced as he appeared, he was gone.

Yav, The Great Wanderers, People of the Stars:

Yav (Yaven, Yaveni) (Yav:Yaven:Yaveni::Elf::Elves:Elven)
Physical Description: Though an agile race, Yaven stand at an average of 6feet tall, though it is not unusual to see some over 7 feet tall and others well under 5'6". Their skin color ranges from rich olive to a nearly pitch black obsidian. Were it not for their extra set of appendages and third eye, Yaven would often be mistaken for half elves. Eyes can vary and often come in many different colors much like gnomes, yet their third eye will always be a contrasting color.

Society: Yaven base their societies around three culturally important stages: "The Calling", "The Great Wander" and "The Tithe". During the decades long Calling, Yaven learn important skills, train physically and mentally and do what they must to be called to wander in a massive ceremony.

The Great Wander is a lengthy period of time, often lasting one or two decades, where those deemed fit explore the world around them, adventuring for the sake of experience and knowledge. Some become traveling merchants or craftsmen, while others pick up blade and put their training to the test. Upon their return, the wanderers make way for the next generation, and spend much of their lives on The Tithe.

The Tithe is a period of devotion, when the great wanderer has returned and now must recount his or her adventures. Many go on to teach, while others spend the rest of their days writing about their past adventures. A few never return, instead opting to spend their lives as career adventurers, often seen scribing on their downtime.

Interactions with other races:
Yaven believe in enrichment for all those who "walk along the right path", or live their lives naturally, free from the taint of undeath. They clearly harbor ill will towards the undead and those who seek undeath.

Given their strange appearance, Yaven and Hawkmen historically have been known to get along, often adventuring together.

Sparklings are a curiosity to most Yaven, though they gladly welcome them amongst their travelers.

They see the Merca as connivers and opportunists, but give them their due praise for being such great engineers.

They are known to share their advancements with those who've showed them kindness, believing that an enriched world is a better world for all.

General Attitude: As scholars, Yaven believe that knowledge is a right for all sentient life and as such spend their lives cataloging as much knowledge for all the people as possible. Though they are curious by nature, they are not stupid enough to put themselves in danger. All Yaven are born with an extra sensory, physical precognition known as "Yhev's Favor". When explained to others, it is described as an uncomfortable urge to move often when physical harm would be done to them. Because of Yhev's Favor, they sometimes come off as risk takers, not as calculated as they actually are.

Lore: When Yhev created the first Yav, it was said that he took bits of stardust and shaped them in his image. He gave them four arms, like his own, and a third eye, as a sign that they are his. He tied the form together with bits of their own fate line so that they'd always have a sense of what came next. He created a partner, and did the same. To the first yav he said "this is your equal, made of the same stardust, tied together by their own fate. Seek knowledge, defend the weak, and tithe unto me". The two were placed on the highest mountain peak and made their way down, seemingly from out of the stars. Soon more followed in their footsteps and they wandered like the last.

Tired but can't sleep so I drafted that up. Let me know what you think.
Decided to stray away from the obviously alien look of the Kasatha (grey skin, odd shaped everything) and went for something a little closer to a half elf, elf look.

Current Points: 2

And a vote to continue the age from Lord Yhev.

Working on a write-up for the Yav.
In regards to boh the city of Ns'Gau and the Aecalx university, I am hoping to have both be multicultural and open to other races. Yaven are very open with other races, and do not hold any hostilities against living creatures. They seek to enrich life for those who walk the proper path, not just their own.

Current Points: 2

Having traveled for nearly 500 years, Yhev sensed along their fate-lines that it was time the Yaveni people, his people, built themselves a home. Centuries of travel, of gathering information finally put to use, they thought it was time to pay tribute to those kind enough to help them.
The four-armed race of scholar-warriors settle, and within the next 500 years, the city of Ns'gau is created. Roads paved in ivory, accents of gold and silver through out, The City of Scholars as it becomes known as, opens a school to all willing to keep up with the stringent teachings of the Yaven. The school is named Aecalx, from the Yaveni word for discovery.

Command race to build city(4), command city to build a University(4), advance city (4) in "war magic", which I would imagine would make it a universalist school?

Ns'Gau (Nis Gow, rhymes with Miss Cow), N, The City of Scholars, home to Aecalx, a higher learning university. The city is non exclusive. Yaven widely welcome those who've historically welcomed them through out their Time of Nomads.
Aecalx is a massive academy built partially within a mountain, teaching various sciences and arts, but currently focusing on what is known as Yaveni War Magic, a multidisciplinary tract focused on utilizing the 8 traditional arcane schools of magic and placing them within a combat setting.
Looking to have Ns'Gau near Talyon. If Talyon is up in the mountains, I picture Ns'Gau as being at the base and partially up the mountain.

Current Points: 2

Aurus, I would like to create a Yaveni order of warriors and scholars tasked with protecting the Taria Tus. Would this be something you'd see as beneficial? The warriors would protect the moving bank while the scholars would serve as chroniclers, keeping track of transactions and various information.
I don't want to thrust my concept upon yours, so I thought I'd ask

Edit:
GM, what are your overall ideas for this game world? I got the feeling from a comment during recruitment that this obviously won't be a high tech game. Is there a particular tone you're hoping for? I haven't really seen you give someone a flat out no. I'm not trying to push your limits, I'm just curious what your view of the game world is.

Current Points: 2

Planning on fixing up the Yeven race both fluffwise and stat-wise. Keeping the extra arms and +1 dodge bonus, gonna change stats from +2 Dex/wis to +2 Dex/Int and fluff it out a bit.

Current Points: 2

Aw no! But I just got here! Voting no because I'm selfish.

Current Points: 2
Dragonflyer1243 wrote:
Could we reduce the AC bonus to 1, rather than 2? If we did that and got rid of the other 6 rp, then it would be a relatively balanced race, I think.

Whoops didn't notice I forgot to finish that thought. Yesterday was a long day for me :p

Yeah, +1 dodge bonus is fine with me, as well as dropping the other 6rp (which is what I would've gotten to had I actually completed that thought).

Aurus, The First Thief wrote:
Welcome Yhev, don't mind Aurus he is grumpy when anyone says stuff like their absolutes. xP

Oh, I've got plans for some interaction between the two, perhaps some bargains ;)

Current Points: 2

Would 14 RP cut it? I wanted to reskin Greater Defensive Training (4rp) to be a physical precognition, and well, the four arms (8rp) are to be more like Yhev. the other 6rp worth of traits (jumper, stalker, desert runner, desert stride)

Current Points: 2

Shadows start to shift as a pure inky black grows from the darkness. A cloaked figure stands tall over Temeron. It's cloak, pitch black, begins to shimmer faintly, giving off a sense of coldness far too alien. From the void-like coldness emerges a knobby hand with four elongated digits, grey in color. The fingers softly caress Temeron's shoulder as the being floats by. Three more hands join the other as they pull out an empty seat. The darkness slithers and slides into the seat and the star lights grow stronger. A voice creaks it's way from the form as it's shape solidifies once again, and a golden mask materializes. Mostly featureless save for the eyes-- seven in all. Six spread out in a half circle, the seventh, larger than the others, closed in the center.
The voice, unnatural and monotone, is heard clearly, as if whispered in every ear.

"I sense trouble." The being reaches across the table with it's long grey arm and seems to pull out a length of golden yarn from the map. Another arm reaches out and runs a finger up and down the yarn.
"It's threads are taut. Knotted. In disarray. They tremble. Calamity lingers in it's future. You've created something new, something unknown to me." The mask searches the room, looks at the other gods, it's eyes growing in excitement. "I will fix the fate of this world, and in return you will allow me to learn of it, to effect it as if it were my own."

The hands, along with the yarn, slink back under the being's cloak.
" It is I who tends to the tethers of the mortal coil. It is I who chronicles the truths of the universe. It is I who is tasked with continuing the flow of time, and preventing any mortal from interfering with the will of the gods. And it is I who is cursed to send you, my brothers and sisters, to oblivion, when it is agreed that your time has come. Know me as Yhev, The Great Ender, The Eternal Seeker, The Keeper of Fate."

"In your tallest peaks will bloom a race of my creation, born to travel, to spread out across your world, to journey to your lowest points, hottest deserts, murkiest swamps. They will be brave warriors, and devout scholars, mastering both arts of the mind and the body. They will offer their tithes to me with their experiences, their knowledge. They will be known as...The Yaven."

Create Race 6pts: The Yaven
A (if allowed) playable race of tall, four armed, grey skinned beings using a modified Kasatha stat block. They will look like the Kasatha, but with six eyes spread out in a half circle/crescent shape, like the letter u. Instead of covering their mouths, they will wear masks.
I'd like to switch out their desert ability with something else.
Also, sorry if I am overstepping any boundaries. I figured Yhev would be a heavily burdened god tasked with many heavy roles. Also, I hope I'm playing the game right. Did I have to create my own land first before creating a race?
