Male human mesmerist (thought eater) 1~unrogue 1; Init +10; Perception +4; AC 19; hp 11/11

Yeah, I'm going to bow out of this one officially. Good luck, hopefully this gets going.

Whenever Yaswick's first turn comes up, he will cast sleep, affecting as many guards as he can without hitting allies.

Not to be a stickler, but I don't believe you can take a 10 on combat initiative, since you can only take a 10 when you are "not in immediate danger or distracted."

So, we're waiting on the others to roll init?

Male human mesmerist (thought eater) 1~unrogue 1; Init +10; Perception +4; AC 19; hp 11/11

Will there be a map? Or either way, how many guards could I hit at one time with sleep if I choose to cast i?

Yaswick surveys the room, and readies himself for action.

Perception; Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 101d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

Yaswick feels at his belt, and pulls forth the dagger that was given him.

Well, now I feel much better...

"Heads up, fellow inmates. Looks like a fight is on."

Male human mesmerist (thought eater) 1~unrogue 1; Init +10; Perception +4; AC 19; hp 11/11

Yaswick coughs, and awakes, "Huhwhat? What the hells?"

He looks around confused for a moment, and then gathers his bearings.

Never thought I'd owe a favor to a rat...

He looks to Rixis, and then Rosa.

"I hope my bloody distraction was worth its while. What's with the veil?"

He picks himself off the ground, and leans against he wall, smiling at his erstwhile allies.

I assume unconscious creatures don't get a Perception check? :D

Also I feel like Yaswick would still be smiling even while unconscious. And he has been packing on a lot of weight the past few years.

Oh, I know. So, I'll be conscious in 6 minutes I guess, lol. I kind of expected something like that to happen anyway, no worries.

Can anyone heal me? I was knocked out cold.

Male human mesmerist (thought eater) 1~unrogue 1; Init +10; Perception +4; AC 19; hp 11/11

Yaswick decides to try to draw the guards' attention away from where Rosa and the others are investigating the veil, whatever it may be. He walks over and grabs the bars to their cell with both arms at his sides and rattles the bars as hard as he can.

"Hey, piggies, c'mere. I want another cell, get me out of this one. Smells like wet dog and rat, I think I'm gonna be sick," he yells to the guards, hopefully distracting them from Rosa, Rixis, and Shinyai.

Seeing Rixis loudly casting a spell, Yaswick observes and tries to figure out what is being cast, though his knowledge of spellcraft of the arcane and divine nature is next to non-existent.

Yaswick steps over next to Rixis and Shinyai, and speaks in a hushed tone.

"If these guards have any sense they know you just cast a spell with all that chanting and waving of arms. Next time, let me know and I can provide a distraction. Did you figure out anything about that veil?"

I'm still here. Just waiting for something to do other than stare menacingly.

Male human mesmerist (thought eater) 1~unrogue 1; Init +10; Perception +4; AC 19; hp 11/11

Yaswick also studies his surroundings, and sizes up the guards to see who seems the most fearful.

Perception to check out the cell: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

Sense Motive to study the guards: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17

Do you prefer if we roll in discussion, in gameplay, or in gameplay with spoilers?

I was thinking of making a Perception and a Sense Motive to see if the guards seemed nervous, or what.

Male human mesmerist (thought eater) 1~unrogue 1; Init +10; Perception +4; AC 19; hp 11/11

Yaswick stood with his back leaned against the corner of the cell and his arms crossed, a wide smile on his face, but he said nothing. He simply stared at each guard, one by one, the smile never leaving his face.

I like the picture reference, Rosa. :)

A few quick questions in regard to our situation:

Are we all in one cell?

Do we have any of our equipment?

How big is the cell and the surrounding room, and are there guards present?

Male human mesmerist (thought eater) 1~unrogue 1; Init +10; Perception +4; AC 19; hp 11/11

Looks like everyone has checked in at least.

Male human mesmerist (thought eater) 1~unrogue 1; Init +10; Perception +4; AC 19; hp 11/11

Okay, great, I think I should be all set now.

Looking forward to this. I almost feel bad for Talingarde.

Almost.

One question: are you okay with minor edits to our characters between now and the game starting? I only bought the most essential gear, and I might tool around with my skills and spells, if it is all the same to you.

Oops, sorry about that. Well at any rate I propose that we stand on opposite sides of things and stab them.

Cool cool cool. This should be fun.

So we have:

LE female android ninja~investigator
NE female kitsune rogue~bard
CE male ratfolk wizard~cleric
NE male taninim warpriest~hunter
LE male human rogue~mesmerist

What is your friend playing?

Ah, I see. That gives me a much clearer picture.

I still think murder is a good stand-by for a crime, but abduction might be nice for you, as well.

Yes, I finished the crunch of the character just a bit ago, and wrote up a cursory backstory which I will probably add to. His father was a good-hearted man, but a revolutionary who wanted to remove the monarchy. He was hanged, causing Yaswick to become radicalized and bitter.

He eventually led a group of insurgents in kidnapping and murdering some guards in the capitol city. He was the only survivor when they stormed the building, and was charged with murder and high treason.

No choices have been made yet, so I would guess you have a little time if you hurry.

With a name like "Yaswick the Smiler", I think murder would end up being one of his crimes, by using a knife to carve a smile into their face once his victim is dead as his signature.

My thought was more like Daniel Craig's character in Road to Perdition, who when asked by the little boy, "Why are you always smiling?" replied, "'Cause its all so ****ing hysterical."

It is he who is always smiling, not his victims.

Is this recruitment still open? If so, I have this guy mostly done. I still need to choose his crimes and finish his backstory.
