Loot allocation from Elodan:
I loot everything.
I sell off his elven blade and chain shirt.
I toss the fancy elven clothes in the first fire I see.
I keep the rest.

Whoops, sorry about forgetting to confirm the crit -- I was just surprised to see the 20. Although the initial hit did kill him, I too am interested in seeing if he died from simply a well placed blow, or a mighty powerful savage strike...

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

Xythian grits his teeth in disappointment, having not been able to make as big of a spectacle out of his opponent's defeat as he could have.

As the blood gushes out of his opponent he gathers all of Elodan's gear and retrieves his javelin. Xythian grabs his 500gp cash prize and heads to the nearest shop to sell the loot.

back again, ready to see how things goes

Welcome back.

If you can post your action right away that would be great, as I am leaving in 40 minutes for 3 days. (Back on Sunday night).

DM, this sounds like it could be a couple days delay. Maybe best to press the "pause button" on our fight and proceed with the next match?

The readied attack roll was just one option he had in his post.

I hate to play rules lawyer, but there are a couple problems here.

1. He can only ready an action on his turn. His turn has not come up yet, so he can not ready an action at this time.

2. A readied action is different from a delayed action (people confuse these all the time). In a readied action you chose 1 action that you wish to ready (i.e. a standard action, a move action, etc. You can not attack and move in a readied action -- that's 2 actions).

Evil Ginger DM wrote:
Since you did not see him un till you hit L5, your Readied action for a Charge/ throw did not Go off.

I didn't ready an action. I only gave an option what I would do at the 40' part of my movement, should I see him which I didn't.

So here is what should happen based on the options I gave above:

1. As a move action I move to M9 and do not see or hear him
2. I take another move action.
3. While moving (when I enter L5 which has only consumed 20' of my 40' of movement available on this move action) you indicate that I see my opponent. (So to speed things along I will now looked at the opponent's map, rather than wait for a post to see what square I see him in... He is in I5).
4. As a free action I drop the javelin.
5. I continue my move to I4 (he does not get an attack of opportunity because he is still flat-footed due to me winning initiative, and because he his holding a bow). To move there consumes a full 40' of my second move action.
6. As a free action I go into rage.
7. I give him a cold glare, like death itself ready to pull him into the underworld.

Response to DM::

With my greatsword locked in one hand, a Javelin held in the other, I begin searching around for my opponent. I take care to not make excessive noise while running through however since I am double moving I can not use the Stealth skill.

I am planning to use my full double move (80'), so this post will only be a part of my turn depending on what I see. Assuming that we have started on opposite sides of the arena, I start moving to the opposite side.

I move 40' to M9. (Unless I see him at any point during my move, then this movement location will change)

My Movement Steps

(1) If I see my opponent and I am able to move right up to him, then I use my remaining 40' of movement to do that while dropping the Javelin.

(2) If I see my opponent and I am further than a 40' move away from him, then I will either:
(a) If my opponent has no cover, then I will throw the javelin at him.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 231d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
(b) If my opponent has cover then I will need you to describe where he is and what he is holding. I am assuming the stinking elf will have his bow in hand, so since I can not close with him, I will intent to use my other 40' to get cover from him (I will post this movement after you give me the description).

(3) If I did not see my opponent, then ignore all of (2). I will then move another 20' to L5 (with still 20' of movement remaining which I will continue with, depending on whether I see him or not. (Again this movement location may change, depending on whether I see him prior to entering L5).

Perception Roll 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

EDIT (Oops, this perception roll is supposed to be after Step (1)

Xythian steps into the arena, seemingly unaware of the cheering crowd. Xythian's demenor is one of discipline and focus as he begins scanning around for his opponent.

"Come out elf so I can snap your bow the same way I am going to snap your neck!"

*Xythian notices the sun setting, and breaks from his trance. He looks at the stadium's sundial and shrugs in confusion.*

*Xythian notices some of the crowd boo'ing and hiss'ing, while getting up to leave.*

*The stoic half-elf looks down onto the stadium floor where Gladiator Haggar remains standing, unfazed by the delay of the match*

*Xythian ponders to himself if someone forgot to wake the arena official, or if possibly Heshlem chickened out left.*

*The half-elven gladiator knows he's got no where else to be, so he settles in for an unknown wait. The cold hard stone he is seated on is beginning to make his muscles and rump sore, but it is quickly ignored, "pain is for the weak" he mutters under his breath.*

*Xythian rises from a seat in the corner of the room where he has sat motionless for so long. Having spoken to no one since his arrival, little is known about him.*

*Xythian meets the glares of several other gladiators as he passes by. He appears completely unshaken by the pitiful intimidation techniques and walks by them so smoothly, as if he was gliding on air.*

*Xythian pauses a moment in the room's doorway, turning his head slightly to watch those within the room with his peripheral vision. A small slim smile seems to form on his face as he then continues his graceful stride, exiting the room.*

*A foul pungent odor wafts through the gladiators' room.*

*Xythian heads up to the arena early to get a good seat for the fight. He finds a good seat which allows him to keep is back to a wall. The half-elf makes a quick cursory search of the wall to ensure it is indeed solid. Xythian sits down, and resumes his motionless trance.*

*Xythian looks at the list of gladiators posted, yawns and returns to sharpening his blades*

My build is in my profile. It is a scythe wielding disgruntled half-orc. I probably won't crit, but if I do :)

However you forgot to change your profile when you posted this. I believe this is your character though:

"You are in my way to greatness, prepare to be defeated!"

I have done a few small changes. I have switched my feat choice from Combat Expertise to Step Up. (Just think this suits my character concept better and is not related to the other character profiles posted -- otherwise I would have taken Improved Initiative like everyone else :)

Although I suspect that mages will win in the end, I am going to go with a more traditional gladiator type character just for the fun of it.

See my profile for my character.
