About 'Wisp
Wisp is an emissary from the plane of shadow, quiet but determined and altogether strange to most inhabitants of the material plane. His mission here has 3 parts:
- Lead all beings he meets to a deeper state of "enshadowment"
- Research and advance necromantic activity on the material plane
- Eliminate enemies of shadow powers and their undead allies
Wisp was selected for this duty before he was born. On his home plane, an agreement was made centuries ago between his Wayang tribe and undead lords from a neighboring region. In exchange for peace, expectant Wayangs from the most charismatic families were required to travel to the edge of the negative energy plane and perform a strange ritual which imbued their unborn offspring with necromantic powers. As the mother expired into unlife, the infant was taken by an undead lord to eventually be trained in the necromantic arts. To be chosen to serve in this way is viewed as an honor.
His residency on the material plane began at the Mortuarium in Yled. After several years of study there, he served a noble house in Mechitar before eventually boarding a ship for Westcrown to perform some reconnaissance in that human settlement. He now travels frequently with a human herald, Bolk, who does much of his speaking for him, as well as serving as a bearer, porter or general manservant and aid.
Bolk typically addresses him as "Your Eminence" or "Lord Shadow".
Wisp awaits the time when he can return to the plane of shadow, but he knows it will not be until his mission on this plane is deemed complete.
"We will all eventually return to the shadows from whence we came."
