Cheetah AC 20, Perception: +13, Speed 50

Overland Group:
Caladrel listens intently to Jerry's consolation, but his anxiety about the upcoming city remains. He acknowledges Jerry's comment with a stern look. After taking one last drink, he tosses his head to indicate he is ready to resume the journey. He takes off again at run. "Better to face the city sooner than later he thinks to himself.

Overland Group:
LOL - see, I knew we could beat that train. Caladrel enjoys the warm sun on his back as he runs beside Jerry and Luce. Spying a stream along the way, he takes a detour to drink the pure spring water bubbling away. It tastes as sweet as the finest wine to his lips. After drinking his fill, he looks around at the unbesmirched country side. Oh to be back home in my wood right now. I have an ill feeling about this city we are heading toward. All of those people, it feels so confining. If Jerry is observant, he notices the joy in Caladrel's eyes fade as he ponders their impending destination.

Overland Group:
Once Elise dismounts, Caladrel waits until she goes to the door. Then he begins to return to his elven form. The hair retreats back into his body and his gear emerges. Quickly he rises and stands next to Jerry.

Hmmmm. sense motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6, Well I stand corrected. It was just an innocent phrase. My sincere apologies.

Caladrel stares ahead to not embarrass the woman. Once she is on top and has a firm grip, he takes off at a brisk trot heading down the road.

You couldn't resist going there could you O.o

Caladrel stands up when he hears the girl accept Jerry's offer and moves closer so that she can easily mount him. Once she has a firm grip he takes off in the direction she indicates.

Cheetah AC 20, Perception: +13, Speed 50

Overland group:
How large is the woman? Could wild shaped Caladrel carry her on his back without a saddle?

Caladrel looks at the sky as more storm clouds gather. He shakes his head at Jerry. Once again, he nods to the lady and and then to his own back. He does this a few times hoping that Jerry takes his hint.

Cheetah AC 20, Perception: +13, Speed 50

Overland Group:
Caladrel listens to the conversation between Jerry and the woman. As the woman stumbles off, Caladrel stands up. He looks at Jerry first and then his own back and nods his head toward the woman. Then he pads slowly toward the woman with his tail twitching in a friendly way. He nuzzles the woman's hand and then sits back down on his haunches.

Cheetah AC 20, Perception: +13, Speed 50

Overland group:
Caladrel stops beside Luce as Jerry dismounts. He sits on his rear haunches so as to appear less frightening to the woman. His tail twitches idly back and forth and he lets out a yawn.

Cheetah AC 20, Perception: +13, Speed 50

overland group:

I assume that about 2 hours have passed so far. I have two more hours left in my wild shape.

Caladrel's pace slackens as he sees the troubled maiden ahead. Unable to speak in his current form, he drops back behind Jerry and Luce to allow Jerry to take the lead.

Cheetah AC 20, Perception: +13, Speed 50

Spoiler:
Caladrel notes the gathering storm clouds and quickens his pace along the post road. He bears the strange looks that he and Luce receive no mind as they quickly trot along.

I'm for taking the most direct route to the University. So I say we go overland. I don't mind passing directly through any towns or villages along the way. I'll roll a survival check in case you want one for knowing the right direction. Survival: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30

Caladrel keeps careful watch of the position of the sun, the scents in the air, local signs and the surrounding terrain to stay on the most direct path to the university. He soon veers off the road and heads overland to save time; leading Luce and Jerry along the way.

Cheetah AC 20, Perception: +13, Speed 50

Caladrel takes off and matches Luce stride for stride as they race down the road toward the city. All of his misgivings about the encroachment of technology on his natural world slip away for a time as they travel through the luscious green of Lord Wallingham's estate. Soon they are on the road toward the university.

Cheetah AC 20, Perception: +13, Speed 50

Caladrel pushes slowly forwarded and begins to shiver in the chill. He moves to the entrance of the second chamber warily watching for traps along the way. Once he reaches the chamber, he again sniffs the air for signs of life and listens intently for more strange sounds.

Cheetah AC 20, Perception: +13, Speed 50

Caladrel begins to pace back and forth in front of the western tunnel entrance. Each time he reaches the middle of the tunnel, he stops and intently sniffs the air in the direction of the tunnel.

Cheetah AC 20, Perception: +13, Speed 50

Still in badger form, Caladrel moves to the exit of the cave D7 and waits while the others search the room. He sniffs the air trying to discern if there is anything odd lurking further down the tunnel.

Cheetah AC 20, Perception: +13, Speed 50

Caladrel watches as Luce ineffectively attacks the creature. He then begins a methodical search of the room while the monster is distracted to try to find the source of the electricity and mist. He moves carefully along the walls alert for any clues.

Cheetah AC 20, Perception: +13, Speed 50

Caladrel sniffs the air trying to get a better read on the location of anything that may be in the room. He cautiously begins to move deeper into the room, sniffing incessantly for any scent that may yield the presence and location of someone or something in the room.

Does the vapor go all of the way to the ground? Or is Caladrel the badger able to walk beneath it?

Cheetah AC 20, Perception: +13, Speed 50

Caladrel looks back to see how the others are faring. Assured that they are able to keep up, he continues toward the glow. He is wary as he approaches the source of the blue light. He slows down and tries get more clues about what is ahead. Also, he looks out for traps.

Cheetah AC 20, Perception: +13, Speed 50

The shape shifting complete. Caladrel the badger moves to the front of the line. He looks back to see if all are ready. When they are, he goes deeper into the tunnel.

Caladrel tries to pick up the scent of anything lurking in the tunnel.

Scent from the PRD:
Scent (Ex) This special quality allows a creature to detect approaching enemies, sniff out hidden foes, and track by sense of smell. Creatures with the scent ability can identify familiar odors just as humans do familiar sights.

The creature can detect opponents within 30 feet by sense of smell. If the opponent is upwind, the range increases to 60 feet; if downwind, it drops to 15 feet. Strong scents, such as smoke or rotting garbage, can be detected at twice the ranges noted above. Overpowering scents, such as skunk musk or troglodyte stench, can be detected at triple normal range.

When a creature detects a scent, the exact location of the source is not revealed—only its presence somewhere within range. The creature can take a move action to note the direction of the scent. When the creature is within 5 feet of the source, it pinpoints the source's location.

A creature with the scent ability can follow tracks by smell, making a Wisdom (or Survival) check to find or follow a track. The typical DC for a fresh trail is 10 (no matter what kind of surface holds the scent). This DC increases or decreases depending on how strong the quarry's odor is, the number of creatures, and the age of the trail. For each hour that the trail is cold, the DC increases by 2. The ability otherwise follows the rules for the Survival skill. Creatures tracking by scent ignore the effects of surface conditions and poor visibility.

Cheetah AC 20, Perception: +13, Speed 50

Caladrel watches as his friends easily dispatch the two strange creatures. When he sees them begin to move, he swoops down to let them know that he is well and then climbs back to 50 feet to continue the search.

As he flies, he thinks to himself, What strange sounds and effects those weapons made that the dwarf and elf used. They seem quite unnatural. He then shakes his head to remind himself of the task at hand and resumes his search.

Cheetah AC 20, Perception: +13, Speed 50

Caladrel flies onward, fighting the mixture of sadness and anger welling inside him as he sees how nature has been twisted in such a horrible way. What powerful evil can do such a thing to this forest? And it is still here, draining what remaining life is still present. We must be wary but undeterred against such a force. It cannot be allowed to spread.

Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21

Cheetah AC 20, Perception: +13, Speed 50

An eagle soars through the sky. It glances down at the landscape as it passes by. An amusing scene catches its eye and it makes a slow circle to take another look. It spies some humanoid creature tugging vainly on a pack animal of some sort. The eagle makes one more circle and then continues on its journey.

An hour later, it arrives at Lord Wallingham's estate. The eagle makes a few circles and then starts a slow spiral down until it finally alights on the ground a hundred yards from the entrance. It stares intently at the large mansion for a moment and then glances for any threats that may be lurking. Once satisfied all is clear, the eagle shakes its head. In the flash of an eye, its body begins to grow and it forms into a...
