So it looks like there will be online and in-person options this year. And it gives me an excuse to visit San Francisco! And you will be very welcome
Pacificon (Santa Clara Marriott Sept 2-5) is just one week away and we have GMs signed up and chomping at the bit to spin some stories and throw some monsters at you. So, if you haven't signed up yet take a look at the warhorn site and choose your games. The Saturday night special still has room as do several other games. PacifiCon is the San Franciosco Bay Area's first outing of the new season and we are looking to start things off with fice, ice, earth and air (and a bang I expect). Hope to see you all there.
The Bay Area Pathfinder Society is offering PFS @ Pacificon at the Santa Clara Marriott in the sunny San Francisco Bay Area. We will be offering the new multi-table interactive special, 8-00 Cosmic Captive (15 tables). If that isn’t enough for you we have also scheduled some tables of the 2 new exclusives, 7-99 Through the Maelstrom Rift and 7-98 Serpent’s Ire and the first three season 8 scenarios 8-01 Portent's Peril, 8-02 Ward Asunder and 8-03 Captives of Toil. Didn’t manage to play during the last half of season 7? We have that for you as well! Not enough? Look at module Sunday. We have spaces at Broken Chains, The Harrowing and an Emerald Spire dive. Signup for games at the Pacificon PFS Warhorn site

I'd like to add Joshua Sigman and James Anderson to that shout out as well as Pirate Rob who allowed John and me to enjoy a con weekend with no responsibilities (our work was behind the scenes before the con). ...and now on to Pacificon. Keeps your eyes out for updates from the Silicon Valley VLs soooon!!!!! Edit: Ooooh, look at the pretty shiny extra star!!!!!!
The Adventure Card Guild will be starting at Game Kastle, Santa Clara CA on Tuesday 11/4/14 at 7:30pm. Bring yourself and your friends and join us on the high seas for the start of the Lost at Sea adventure. The beginning of the 'Season of the Shackles" If you are going to be a regular player you will need to have your own character deck. If you'd like to know more or you have any questions, come and join us.
Please contact us (email adress on list of regional cordinators for PFS) if you have an opportunity for PFACGOP to get into a con. We are working on getting OP play into some of our local stores, but would love to see it as one our cons. Which con did you talk to? Wendy-Ann Francis
Well another Pacificon is over and PFS@Pacificon was amazing. We ran 111 tables of scenarios and modules over the 4 day weekend This included 13 tables of the amazing (the player's words not mine) special - Legacy of the Stonelords where we achieved an 'Impressive Performance'. There were three tables of sub-tier 10-11, where two characters reached seeker level. 11 tables worth of characters found out what was going on with their factions in 5-99 The Paths We Choose and many young players burned a lot of things, found an ancient horn and defeated a gorilla in 5 tables of young player games organized by Adam Grancell (thank you) Also, thanks must go to Brent Holtsberry for coming down from Sacramento to run the special for us and to all the GMs for the whole event for giving everyone a great experience. We could not do this without you The Northern California PFS community's next convention is ConQuest Avalon November 7-9 in Sacramento. Join us there.
This will be my (and John's) 3rd Kubla and I'm definitely looking forward to it. If it all works out, John and I will get our Monk and Rogue duo to 12th level with the 3 Fiend scenarios. My GM Schedule:
Saturday: Slot 4: PFS Quest Goblin Attack!!!!!! Slot 5: 4-11 The Disappeared Sunday:
Monday:
Hope to see lots of you at Kubla; if not, maybe at Paizocon

Reporting at midday, having just crawled out of bed. I counted all the Pacificon reporting sheets (twice cos my brain switched off halfway through). I come up with a total of 120+ tables including the young player/teen tables, the boon Goblin has never been so busy. She must sleep now. The uncertainty as to exactly how many tables is due to the fact that modules ended early and I'm not sure how many (Sunday was nuts). I'd like to echo Venus' thanks to all those who stepped up to judge, both on Warhorn and at the event. I hate turning people away and I didn't have to do that at all this weekend. Also, I'd like to thank the players for being patient, helpful, friendly and FUN!!!! The mustering got a little crazy in places but thanks to everyone's cooperation we got everyone seated by at most 10 minutes into every session. Reporting will happen, but first I must have more sleep, and oh yes I have to go back to work, and of course there is more sleep, oh and a card game demo this evening at Game Kastle that John and I are doing for the great people at GK. We came home last night with a bag of plastic minis labelled dwarves and they are upsetting the horde of goblins that live here. If anyone knows what hole in the ground they came out of please let us know. Our (john and I) next con will will be Dundracon, hope to see all of you (and your friends) there The boon goblin must now make tea and learn how to play this card game. Wendy-Ann
Having death not carry over to their standard PFS characters encourages players to exhibit total craziness which is what makes 'We Be Goblins' and hopefully 'We Be Goblins Too' so much fun. I will run the first at the drop of a hat and I suspect the same will be true of the new one coming out on free RPG day on June 15th. The last session of WBG I GMed lasted 4 hours, resulted in much pyromania, 2 weddings and many curious looks from other con goers (especially as the rest of the PFS crew were working their way through Bonekeep). EDIT: And look, due to that last WBG game I now have two sparklies next to my name!!!!!!

Sounds like a great idea, but I don't believe I will qualify as a first time GM. Oooooh, look at the lovely sparkly!!!!! Running First Steps for some new local players has given me that first star I thought I'd get at Dundracon. 34 days to go!!!!
I will definitely be there. Last year's Dundracon was where I found PFS and had a great time (thanks Mike!!!). One year, many scenarios, and 9 GM credits later I wouldn't miss this one for anything. I'm looking forward to getting that 10th GM credit and my first star. The list of scenarios is amazing, so come and join us.
I'd like to thank all the members of the cincorate for organizing such an amazing weekend. I know I had great fun and I'm sure a lot of others did. The organizers provided something for everyone, from the noobie walk-ins to the crazy high tier tables. I appreciated being able to cut my convention judging teeth on the beginner's box adventure early on Friday and a first steps table on Sunday and think everyone at the tables enjoyed it as much as I did. We got to participate in two specials, one of which, Rune Carved Key, I thoroughly enjoyed (well apart from the chase, I've yet to enjoy a chase), the other, Blood Under Absalom, was not to my taste so much but still interesting to experience. We will be back next year for sure and in fact just booked our hotel room for Dundracon in February. |
