HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Hey all, I hat to do this, but after some consideration and introspection, I'm going to be reducing the number of games I'm in on the forums. I have a lot of things I want to do, and unfortunately, Pathfinder found itself down at the bottom of the list when I got them sorted. I've had fun, but I'm dropping this game. I'm sorry to do this, and I hope that you guys have fun.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Hey guys, I've got a bit of bad news. My computer is having issues and it's going to take some time to sort it out. My posting over the next week or so is going to be stunted since I will only have access at work, and I've got a good bit of stuff to slog through. I'm still committed to the game, but I won't be able to post nearly as much.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Wanwa'lasse takes her leave and gets her gear together in the morning. The others find her in the Dragon's common room sipping a warm cup of tea.

"Ready to go?"

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

"I thought we were going to Brinewall?"

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Congrats and good luck! We won't forget you.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

"Well, I think if we wear rain gear when Irnk drinks, we might be okay. I can be ready to leave in less than an hour, but I think it's going to take longer than that to actually go."

Wanwa'lasse takes the rest of the afternoon to gather her belongings from her room in the Rusty Dragon.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

And just like that, Wanwa'lasse's head is buried in her hands.

"Is it too late to claim I don't know him?"

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

It's not Irnk, but Wanwa'lasse that began to snicker.

"So I guess we're all doing 'that thing' and going with you to Brinewall."

The half-elf is grinning from ear to ear. For the first time since she was brought to Sandpoint, she's just enjoying the moment.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Wanwa'lasse looks at Hijiro then at Ameiko.

"I'd have to be mad to not go with you. Never been out of the hinterlands, and I'm starting to go a little stir-crazy."

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

"Perhaps."

Wanwa'lasse follows Hijiro, if only to help him extract a foot from his mouth if he should say something silly.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

"What's the likelyhood of Irnk ever going to Minkai? He's a worshiper of Erastil, he'd likely live around here if the town doesn't run him off."

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

"Brinewall. Why does that name sound familiar?"

Wanwa'lasse's brow furrows as she ponders the name.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

YAY! Glad your computer is up and running.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Wanwa'lasse looks from Irnk, to Sienna and Hijiro, and back wondering what the goblin is trying to say. Then it hits her like a sack of bricks. An oh-I-see-what-you're-saying expression replaces the one of puzzlement, before she tries to hide her amusement behind a mask of indifference. And like Irnk, probably not much success in that department.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

"She is the one that does most of the cooking. Probably finishing up a dish or something."

At the rate these three are going, I'm going to need to find a new place to sleep!

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

"Why were you in those caves anyway?"

Wanwa'lasse flinches a little when asked about being a little adventurous, but otherwise ignores the question.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

I think as longs as we all wind up roughly even, we should be good.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Irnk and Wanwa'lasse came to an understanding in the caves. Irnk is okay, other goblins are still a problem.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Heh, and the bad part is, it's the chaotic good ranger that's agreeing with Irnk.

Then again, considering how she hides her scars, privacy is a big thing for her.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

"Until then we'd be best served by assuming that it isn't ours. We can let Ameiko know about the compartment, but we shouldn't be prying into things that are none of our business. For all we know it's something very personal to her family and she would rather that be a secret."

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

I know but I've been slacking a little lately. Better to post something than nothing.

"And, Irnk is right, it's Amekio's not ours."

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

"It could be cursed. We did pry that off of a skeleton that was walking around."

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Leaf shakes her head at Irnk's antics.

"I've seen dwarves with more social grace than you my friend."

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

"Offal?"

Wanwa'lasse makes a face that leaves little room for doubt about what she thought of Irnk's request.

"I know you haven't been here, but trust me when I say that here there be better things than what just passed through a dragon's bowels."

Turning to whoever was manning the bar, she says, "Some curried salmon for Irnk here and me as well. Along with some mead if you've got it."

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

"Isn't that what we agreed to do."

Wanwa'lasse looks back down the road, relief showing on her face that they didn't have much trouble getting back to Sandpoint.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Okay, and Congrats. I thought about trying this year, but other things took my interest. Good luck and hope to see you in the top 16 soon.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

No objections here.

Wanwa'lasse rolls her eyes at Irnk's attempt to haul the chest back by himself.

"Here. Let me get the other end of that."

She grabs the other side of the chest and helps Hijiro carry it back.

Anyone seen Balthazar?

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Offers some popcorn to Irnk.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

"If Koya says it's alright, I guess we should do so while we've got daylight left."

Wanwa'lasse stands up and stretches out her back and arms.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Wanwa'lasse quirks an eyebrow at the goblin laughing himself silly.
"Have you been drinking?"

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Okay, looks like I didn't miss much. Sorry about going AWOL.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

I did. It was pretty good I got to spend some time with some of my family that I am not around as much.

Now if I only knew what I made in those two classes. :|

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Hey, just a heads up. I'm going to be out of town tomorrow for my college graduation.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Irnk:
Irnk hears a snort of laughter coming from Wanwa'lasse.

"Oh, I meant call me Leaf. I can hear the difference between 'Lief' and 'Leaf.' I'm afraid I don't know what it is either, but he sounds like he was a good man... and a good teacher."

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Irnk:
Wanwa'lasse looks at Irnk, her eyes shimmer in the dim light of the cave. Then back down at the spot in the floor where her attention had been for the past several minutes. For a long time, she sits in silence.

"Leaf."

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Irnk:
"Are you sure you're not one yourself?"

Her voice is muffled by her knees, but her question is obviously serious.

After another minute, she asks another.

"How do I take a step forward when I run away every time I'm afraid."

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6
Irnk, Prodigal of Old Deadeye wrote:

And people wonder why Irnk suspects Sienna is sweet on Hijiro...

To be honest, very nicely written, good demonstration of a low charisma character trying to be sociable.

And then we have the Goblin-a-phobe with the goblin. :D

Seriously that was some good writing. I just hope I'm up to your standards.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Irnk:
Wanwa'lasse just sits in silence. Her eyes unable to meet Irnk's, but just before he decides to go to sleep, she rolls up her sleeve, revealing skin criss-crossed by dozens, if not hundreds, of thin, white, ragged scars.

"How many, do you think, lost a-all they knew? The first thing I-I r-r-remember is pain. Have y-you ever felt your skin being sliced open again, and again, and again? H-have y-y-you ever lain in a pool of you blood and your parents blood as a bunch of goblins sang about all of- all of the horrible things they were going to do to you?"

Tears ran down her face, which had a few thin scars as well. Her jaw clenches as she glares at Irnk.

"Tell me, have you ever woke up screaming because you thought a dozen half-elves were trying to flay you alive?"

She sits there for a moment, letting the echos of her last, shouted words die before continuing in almost a whisper.

"You may want a better life for those bastards, but you have ask if they want it."

she rolls her sleeve back down before curling up in a ball with her back to the stone wall of the cavern and her eyes glaring at a spot a few feet from the toes of her boots.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Irnk:
"Okay, then." Wanwa'lasse finds a dry patch and sits, but something about the way she sits gives away she's not at ease with Irnk. Maybe it was the way her legs tensed like a cat's that is ready to pounce.

"Why are you helping goblins then? I remember the raids a few years ago. I remember how they treated each other."

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

"I'm fine."

The half-elf stays behind with Irnk, just shaking her head at any offers to head back to Sandpoint.

Once the two of them are alone she quietly asks,

"Why are you helping humans?"

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Still here, just nothing to add to the current conversation.

Wanwa'lasse's eyebrow quirks up at that last sentence.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

"Maybe, but how did all of this get here? A storm?"

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Same here.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

"I g-guess so."

Wanwa'lasse puts away her blade and grabs her bow before following the others, and keeping her distance from Irnk.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

"Ar-r-r-re you sure?"

Slowly, Hijiro seems to be talking Wanwa'lasse down. She seems more focused on the kitsune than Irnk at least.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Heh, I have to see that. I'm not too worried about Irnk, as a matter of fact, Wanwa'lasse growing more comfortable with him could be a good character building exercise.

As for oxymoronish characters, my character in a WotW campaign has been described as "innocently evil." She's hugged the necromancer, skipped across a courtyard in a lightning storm, and broken one of the good guys with naught but her wits and a high bluff score.

Most of my other characters have some issue that comes out over time. My favorite though is the greatsword wielding rogue in a CoT campaign on the boards here.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Poor Irnk. I promise that if Wanwa'lasse bites it, I'll roll a character that won't give you a second thought.
Anyway, the way I pictured it in my head was that she's curled up against the wall just about in tears.

"B-b-b-but what ab-b-b-bout th-th-the Lickt-t-t-toads? Isn't he wuh-wuh-wuh-one of th-th-them?"

From the looks of things, she's more likely to try and bolt than fight. She doesn't relax though, and her blade is still up even though the half-elf's shaking is plain to see in the way the tip moves.

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

"G-g-g-g-GOBLIN!"

Wanwa'lasse manages to finally come out of the fear induced paralysis and trips over her feet as she backpedals away and drops her bow. Her back presses against the stone wall and her heels dig into the floor trying to get her as far from Irnk as possible as she fumbles with the shortsword at her side before finally pulling it free.

"D-d-d-don't c-c-c-c-come an-any c-c-c-c-closer"

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Wanwa'lasse tries to hit the vile thing in front of her once more, but misses as her nerves continue fraying.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 3 - 4 = 0

HP: 10/10 AC 16/14/12: F+2, R +4, W+2, Per:+4, Init: +6

Same as before. Attack S3 using bow as a quarterstaff.

The nimble half-elf manages to dodge the strikes of the skeletons once more and tries to hit one of the things again with her improvised quarterstaff.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 3 - 4 = 12
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
