Davey Jones pirates are not that terrifying to me, I think disney went to comical with them (they're almost wusses during the wheel of fortune chase in the 2nd movie).

please add dn3walker@yahoo.com
thanks
Not yet, we're on the SWW right now.
terok ... just stumbled onto this thread & was hoping you could send a copy to a johnny come lateley ... dn3walker@yahoo.com
thanks .. Dave
I'm not sure how this will work in terms of the contract for Dungeon expiring, but I'd think that there has to be a way to assist someone who is in a setting where they wouldn't be able to access the copy they legally purchased. As someone who once was a member of another Alpha Company I can understand that you won't have access right now. Elvnsword keep up the good work ... Huuah. Drop a note if you need help with the info dn3walker@yahoo.com.

But then again - there is _always_ the trusty Xerox and a pair of scissors, possibly some paper and glue as well, for the intrepid GM.

I thought the issue with WOTC was only on the conversion notes for FR/ EB settings & that the online supplements for handouts were ok. Maybe I missed that.

I've run a couple sessions with the delve for my group. The delve takes a few moments to get used to ... it's definately different if you're used to the old 1st edition format (yes I've been playing that long too), but I found that my only "flipping" was for room description info. The best merit for this new format was the day I was running late to my own game -- car troubles -- the new format saved me a lot of needless searching when I was pretty stressed.
My group is pretty veteran, so role playing is just natural. Like any change the format is nothing more than a tool ... use is well or use it poorly.
I'm not too crazy about the changes at WOTC for 4th edition and won't probably be buying it, but I do like the delve format ... my big hope is that Paizo will continue publishing for 3.5 after the WOTC upgrade.
Don't worry then ... cuz I made sure to press all the buttons and get the other half of the country ... no sense in leaving anything behind.
I voted for Ranger ... always my favorite since 1st edition and high school ... but it was a tossup with the Wizard (if the Knight or Beguiler had been here maybe they could have tempted me)
Best wishes for a happy and joyfilled new year and enjoy what ever holidays you are celebrating.

Keoki wrote: James Jacobs wrote: I'm not sure we have the files of the adventure maps, to be honest, for anything that predates Paizo. I'll look into it, but I'm pretty sure that all those files still live at WotC (who actually does still own Dungeon directly; we just license it and produce it and all that). That's cool. Could you give me a hint about who to contact there about the files (maybe Bart Carroll, to see about posting them on the website)? My DM works at WotC, so I wouldn't necessarily need an email address, just a name or department. I'd really appreciate it! Hey Keoki
If you find out who to contact, can you see if there's still a link at WOTC live ... I don't have some of the files anymore either.
Sean
Thanks for the update ... I'm curious to see how these will look.

Holy jumping coffee beans! I nearly peed myself laughing at this one. And have you ever seen a zombie pee himself? It ain't a pretty sight!
Zombies can do that?
Not really, but I was just going for a disturbing image. Thanks Aberzombie ... that will leave a mark! Your image of the zombie will stick!

James Jacobs wrote: The next few supplements should be coming pretty soon, and the conversions should be soon as well. We spent a fair amount of time last week getting them ready, and most of them are in the last rounds of work before they head online.
It's possible we'll be mostly caught up by the end of the week.
James, we appreciate your efforts ... keep up the good work!
Stedd Grimwold wrote: Jib wrote: Does the Scarlet Brotherhood engage in piracy? I've always thought of them as "Fantasy Nazi's". Actually, as a governing agency, they can
A) engage in "legal" search and seizure of ships within "their" territorial waters.
B) Commit acts of war against ships flying the flag of other government agencies in "open" waters.
C) Issue "letters of marque and reprisal" to private ships to commit "acts of piracy" against ships to which the "letter of marque and reprisal" condone. The ships are known as a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Privateer">"Privateer"</a>.
Piracy is generally reserved for non-government sanctioned banditry on the high-seas. I think it's safe to say the Scarlett Brotherhood would not recognize any other government as legitimate and would condone any act that furthers their agenda ... so yeah ... Piracy is open game.
"Check out Maiden of the Mist from Worldworks Games. Its a cardstock model that costs only $15 and looks fantastic. There are multiple decks that lift off so you can play below decks, and the floors are super-imposed with a 1" grid. http://worldworksgames.com
Besides Maid of the Mist is the tourist boat we take to see the Niagara Falls up close and personal. That's pretty cool though I think."
Nicholas
You're right ... Maid of the Mist is in the gorge at the Falls, but the Sea Maiden (at World Works Games) is a cardstock model that if you're willing to invest some time in is a much nicer view for gamers. Check out the link and look for the products page ... it is there.

QXL99 ... I like the idea ... building those kind of alliances and bringing stability could be a great plan ... we could work it in after another group has destabilized the region. Also rival adventuring companies would be fun.
A war between two feuding races would be cool if you use the inititial few adventures as a springboard where tensions are rising and the party is trying to navigate the "frontier." Than at intermediate levels have the full scale invasion force and combat that requires the party to choose sides and even work at the fringes of battles ... maybe as war profiteers or taking advantage of stopping skirmishing forces.
Then when the attain high levels they may need to broker a peace and even search for some symbol or artifact that would seal the deal for the peace ... any races would work ... and this could be used on the Prime Material Plane or any other if you choose.
Mando
This looks cool, I almost wonder if it wouldn't be easier to put up as a link to download. If not, I'd love a copy dn3walker@yahoo.com
Dave
the question is what combination ...
James
Last you mentioned waiting on the FR conversion ... any chance of posting w/o that and updating later? Not all of us will be using the FR setting.
Thanks
I think that if they have a specific trait or "gimmick" that the appropriate stat helps ... like a barmaid with a high CHA or an aristocrat that has a low WIS score ... but I'll only flesh out what I need
arrgh, we need to shore up our lines and prepare ... don't let the ninja's board us here, or their'll be the devil to pay!
... and protect the Rum!
sweet use of Hebrew on the bottom right corner of the jpg ....
I like the setup as is ... helps me quickly find what I need ... adding the summary at the end of module would only increase page count ... if there is a way to add this info on the download I'd be for it.
so what part of Greyhawk is Kate Beckinsdale from the city or maybe the Sword Coast?

Funny thing happened as I was reading this post further tonight ... I realized as gamers we need to be put in our corners ... all Greyhawker's over in one corner, another for FR lovers, Eberron fans ... over there and so on ... sorta like a time out for all of us.
I realize this is how I handle my daughters when they get too unruley (ok, I have no idea how to spell that) but sometimes we get too carried away here.
Look for the love of Pelor (or whatever god you revere :)) can't we all realize that taking eachother out of context and continuing to flame on this every time one group feels slighted is insane. That being defined as doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
You will probably never convince me to change my opinions of one setting or the other with these posts, nor I you ... so let's agree to disagree ... be thankful for the great work at keeping our hobby alive here and enjoy the new
AP for what it is.
Time out is over for those who needed it .. sorry for the rant.
I think the idea of using a default setting is to give us the ability to make changes and add flavor for which ever setting we choose as players.
I personally have never been a fan of FR but find some of the submissions for Dungeon to be awesome. I think each setting has it's loyal fans and that's alright by me.
I don't have an idea for how the editors here can choose something other than a setting like Greyhawk without making a great deal of work for most people to change from one setting to another. It's always easier to add than subtract.
In AOW Paizo put out conversion notes for each setting (Ebberon and FR) and I expect that would continue. Sounds fair by me. Hope it works for you.
In my current AOW group, I am playing a Ranger and a friend is playing a bard (with 2 levels of Sorceror). We have just completed the Champion's Games and I have found that his bard has become a very useful member of the group.
I don't think he would argue the point that his bard is not combat oriented ... we joke that the bard's rapier has become a can opener ... but the ability to inspire us during combat more that makes up for not swinging away.
The character has become the face of our group and is best able to handle diplomacy and negotiations.
Overall, the bard is a great 5th character to enhance a party.
James Jacobs wrote: The leftovers of the Savage Tide Player's Guide are shipping back from Gen Con; they should be reaching Paizo sometime early next week (fingers crossed!) at which point I believe they'll be going on sale. We aren't quite sure how many we still have, but there's a lot. Probably over a thousand, I'd guess. There should be plenty to go around.
And the cover was indeed first used on an older issue of one of our magazines.
Thanks James ... I'm guessing there won't be a link for the purchase until you get them back from GenCon ... is that right?
Does anyone know where and when the link for the order will show up on the store page?
James
For those of us who have no patience, is there any way to preorder a copy now?
Actually this looks really good ... I'm already thinking about side path adventures and "random" encounters for along the voyage ... hard not to think about shipwrecks, storms and other ships as encounters
Beware of the Epic Big Yellow Bird and his mastadon side kick ...
Gwydion
I think that's brilliant ... I've been by that ship so many times before moving away from Cow Town that I'd forgotten about it.
My vote is on a 4 pager tailored for the four basic class types and definatly Ale Points and Rum Points ... and maybe we can all beg Lilith to do this!
GGG well said ... I am waiting to get my copy this week. As a father of two girls I am aware of the struggle with what is appropriate and how to help develop self-esteem in a world where women can be seen as objects.
I personally found the cover of a friend's copy to be amazing because it appears to be good art. The difference between art and dross (the nude and the naked) is subjective, and I don't presume to have the right to tell someone else how to live there life.
If you are offended by the cover ... then don't buy the issue (sorry James) but don't also try to change those of us who can appreciate the art involved. I find the covers have been great and intend to keep supporting the efforts here and the hobby I love.
I would strongly disagree with restricting downloads to only "subscribers" because some of us purchase every month through a local store. I personally made the conscious choice to continue purchasing from a local store after watching a store where I grew up close for lack of business.
I think that supporting our hobby sometimes means paying a little more to have a place where I can go to interact with other gamers instead of purchasing online or at a Barnes and Nobles.
I truly respect and enjoy the work that Eric and co here provide, but as long as a few coppers in the coffers at my local store help them stay open I will continue to purchase Dungeon and many other products here.
I believe that all the discussion that has begun here on the board for this AP is proving how amazing the first two AP's have been and how much anticipation we as consumers (and players/ DM's) have for what we expect to surpass the previous offerings.
I am looking forward to this story arc, and considering running the path myself ... I took a 15 year hiatus from playing and have been "unlearning" the rules as I adapt from 1st edition to 3.5.
So please, Mr. Jacobs and Mr. Mona … keep them coming! And any more juicy tidbits you can drop right now would be awesome also.
I haven't noticed the new map ... my work computer is banned from the WOTC website, but a 3.5 remake would be awesome!
Gaming in Clearwater ... shop at Emerald City ... glad to find a great group of gamers and friends (yeah I actually think of them as both ... even the WFDME ... way to go Wronga!)
Hey gang ... great ideas so far ... tried Worldworks Games download ... looks awesome ... burned a whole printer cartridge ... now for assembly!
Yes, James congrats ... I vote for dire zombie Kenku riding fiendish dinosaurs and sailing the seas as dread pirate dire zombie Kenku ... just kidding ... here comes the Savage Tide of Kenku wave riders!
I definately second the U series and C2 Ghost Tower ...
