It sounds like there are 3 of us who can keep playing. BTW, Vulpidin, I peeked at your profile which led me to your web novel. I read a bit of it and I thought it was great. Got it on my list to come back to. If you are going to focus on a novel, I think that's a great option for you!

Aww, thanks! :) Honestly, that web novel needs... so much work. It was fun, though. The one I'm plotting now is unrelated, and hopefully will be higher quality since I plan on actually going through multiple drafts instead of just posting my first draft...

Honestly, I think I'm best bowing out. I'm remembering now why I didn't care to finish Rise of the Runelords before, and honestly, I need to be in less games. Especially if I start working on a novel like I'm planning to--my writing time is going to become a precious resource.

Defiantly, Vulpidin spits a bolt of lightning in Nualia's face, aiming to hit her and the blue hound before he dies.

Oh dear... given the circumstances, Vulpidin probably prefers death to capture. He has no interest in finding out what 'mercy' a Lamashtu cultist might offer, and honestly, I'd be fine with this campaign ending. Vulpidin never really 'clicked' for me, and I've been feeling a bit overextended of late.

I'm not sure if we're unlucky or badly optimized at this point. XD

Vulpidin backs up and heals Lucien, trying to keep him from bleeding out.

Vulpidin keeps his calm demeanor as he continues his methodical firing, aiming at the most wounded of the two creatures.

Crossbow: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 = 10
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5

Will: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 3 + 1 = 21

Vulpidin remains unconcerned. He calmly loads his crossbow and fires it at the hound Lucien struck

Vulpidin ignores the strange baying, focusing instead on a chant. A gentle breeze flows over the party, and their weapons seem just a bit lighter.

"Lamashtu." Vulpidin practically spat the name. "Mother of monsters, queen of demons. We must storm this place and scour her taint from these lands."

Yes, using the verb 'storm' is because he's an Air oracle.

"If you do not allow surrender, you force anyone you face to fight to the death--an undesirable circumstance for everyone," Vulpidin comments.

"But yes, let us continue on."

I'm travelling for the next few days, so I may be a bit spottier than usual in posting.

Vulpidin sighs slightly as he keeps firing on the bugbear. This was getting tiresome, and he wasn't sure how he felt about killing the women... though remembering what the other goblins had done, the brief pang of conscience soon passed.

Vulpidin fires and loads again, keeping his ears perked for signs of attacks from elsewhere.

Vulpidin simply loads and fires his crossbow, then loads it again, not expecting a single unarmored bugbear to be as big a threat as the goblin chief and his warriors.

Vulpidin waits to see what is within before casting a spell.

Vulpidin accepts some food, and offers some of his trail rations in turn.

"Better for travel than eating, but..." he shrugs apologetically.

"If we're all ready, we should get moving towards this basement."

"Well first we should gag that fellow and make sure he's not going anywhere," Vulpidin says, nodding at the warchanter. "Barricade the doors as best we can, then make a watch rotation. If all goes well, we'll make our way down in the morning."

Vulpidin looks over the group.

"We may not be in shape for another difficult battle, even were it not for our duty to bury a comrade."

Vulpidin winces a little at the shout. The goblin could be loud! She seemed a strange sort, but... reasonable for a goblin, he supposed.

Still, he doubted she'd want to show her face in town, which would be an issue sooner or later.

Vulpidin still seems wary, but he gives a small nod. "Very well. Where are those who persuaded the chief here to attack?"

Let's see if I remember why we'd come here. XD

Vulpidin regards the odd goblin with undisguised suspicion.

"Yes, one," he agrees aloud. He wasn't quite sure what to make of this one. On the one hand, she'd certainly turned against her tribe to help them... on the other, she was still a goblin.

"It was worse when they attacked us." He trails off, not quite sure where he's going with this yet.

Vulpidin keeps healing Tiyuvi, wanting to keep the catfolk standing even if he takes a hit.

I think you haven't included the effects of Vulpidin's heal on Lucien in your party status.

Running low on good options, Vulpidin simply keeps healing the others.

CLW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 On Tiyuvi if he's really at 7 out of 29 HP.

Vulpidin yelps in pain and moves behind Tiyuvi. He patches up his own wound somewhat, fighting to stay conscious.

You *could* be a big fat goblin sorcerer. :D

Yeah, not sure if we want another melee character, though it can be interesting to have a melee-heavy party. A full arcane caster wouldn't be a bad idea, but it's really up to you, we have the absolute necessities covered.

Yeah, always sad when one bad roll like that kills you off, but that's low levels for you. Hopefully we're not headed for a TPK.

Ouch! Gotta hate those! Poor Sami... we may not have been ready for this.

Vulpidin murmurs a curse under his breath as Sami falls. He rushes over to Lucien and tries to keep him from suffering a similar fate.

I've never seen a dragon take an attack of opportunity from using a breath weapon, but admittedly that's just saying "I haven't met any GM who interprets it that way."

Lightning breath is a supernatural ability that does not provoke attacks of opportunity, for future reference.

Vulpidin takes a step back, loads his crossbow, and fires it at the singing goblin.

Crossbow: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 1 = 20
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 2

Vulpidin sees an opportunity. It's risky, but... they have to end this swiftly if they're to have a chance.

He steps forward, taking a deep breath as he does. His fur stands on end, he spreads his tail wide, and then he exhales a bolt of lightning.

If I'm not mistaken, I can get three of them in a line all at once. Lightning Damage: 3d4 ⇒ (4, 1, 3) = 8, DC 15 reflex for half.

Suspecting he will be in the thick of combat, Vulpidin slips forward and casts a ward on Tiyuvi, while keeping himself behind the more combat-capable party members.

Protection from Evil on Tiyuvi

Vulpidin is pretty convinced this will end in bloodshed, so unless someone else stops him he's going to try it.

Vulpidin peaks past the rest of the group, and, seeing the contents of the next room, decides that it would be best to prepare for combat now. As quietly as he can, hiding behind the others to disguise his actions, he starts calling on the blessings of the wind.

Trying to quietly cast bless on the party.

Oh, geez. My bad guys.

Lucien relinquishes his blade, then reforms it as a large axe. He first attacks the nearest goblin, then the farther one.

Vulpidin gestures silently at his companions' blades, then the sleeping goblins.

"I would suggest clearing the area we can reach without going in the courtyard first."

Vulpidin tilts his head to one side. "They might be clever enough to hide where we could not hit them after a little while. It would certainly reveal our presence."

"I have some skill in stealth, but little in killing, particularly in my fox form. I could support another but should not go alone."

"Let's stay on this floor for now," Vulpidin suggests. "Time to turn north?"

Vulpidin tilts his head to one side for a moment. "The winds have nothing to say. Perhaps start from the closest door?"

"They are far enough, though I cannot tell if there is an entrance on their side," Vulpidin half-agrees.

Vulpidin cautiously makes his way across, marvelling at the complete incompetence of the goblins.

"Amazing that they still have not noticed us," he quietly comments after nodding a thanks to Tiyuvi. "I am ready for us to attack now."

Vulpidin, not being suited to melee combat, had hesitated when the others charged across, and now found himself separated from the others. He stares across in shock at how the situation had unfolded... then gets his crossbow out and loads it. Surely the goblins would notice what had happened, and while he would have to figure out a way across for himself later, for now he could provide covering fire from the other side while the rest climbed up.

Who is "everyone" here? Vulpidin hadn't agreed to the charging across thing...

"Thus will their cruelty be their own destruction," Vulpidin agrees. A slight current of wind ruffles his tails, which twitch slightly in response. "I should not be first. Those best at stealth, perhaps?"

Vulpidin nods. "So who should I ward? Tiyuvi? Sami? Will you be the first two across?"

"No, but I could give us some small amount of protection. Casting it on all of us would drain most of my power for the day--perhaps only on the front two?"

I'm still one tail short of invisibility. :D

"Does anyone have a rope?"

Vulpidin pauses, then adds, "...and a better idea of how to tie knots than I have?"

Vulpidin looks around in wonder. "How odd that a place of wonder sits just below the paths of the goblins! But that doesn't mean it's not dangerous. We should look around cautiously."
