Lady Inspectress Saxby Knighted in 489 A.O.V for exceptional acts as a criminal investigator. Married Lord Saxby in 491 A.O.V during the Fourth Yearsol War. [someone has also hand written next to this entry in the directory]A raging, motherless, @#$%! Kiedoli has not posted in 24 hours. Like I said instead of botting I will just narrate something appropriate to keep things moving. Kiedoli was successful in his investigation. He learned that three dockers are planning on disrupting the event Coulton, Mercliffe, and Iscalio Kiedoli's source did not know how they planed on doing this, but pleaded that they be taken in peacefully because they are just kids causing mischief. With the heads up the DC to Perception to spot these three individuals will be reduced to 10 The next day two carriages come to pick you all up early in the morning and take you to the Flint Office. This will be your duty station until further notice. When you arrive Lady Inspectress Saxby is giving orders to a group of agents outside. She greets you as you step out of the carriage. Good. My request for more agents did not fall on deaf ears I see. Go quickly and pick a bunk inside then fall into formation. This is not normally how I like to introduce new agents, but we have no time for pleasantries." ![]()

You find no evidence of any magical rituals. You are now familiar with the ship and will receive +2 circumstance bonus for the next task Declan:
You approach some men playing cards while on break from their daily work at the docks. "Out of the ordinary eh? You mean like a giant warship and people from all over Lanjyr just to see it launch? Other than that no, nothing unusual." One of the men says in a biting tone. He seems put out by the whole affair and his comrades seem to agree. Jacob:
When you try to intimidate a man for some information in the bar, he isn't having it and takes a swing at you. 1d20 ⇒ 2 His attack is so clumsy and the man has had a few drinks so he falls on the floor. Hizlari:
The quartermaster is taken aback by your insistence, but says nothing. You see nothing out of the ordinary, but you get a good idea of your surroundings. You will receive a +2 circumstance bonus on the next task Kiedoli:
You meet a sailor that seems concerned. "Look, I know something, but you have to promise me you won't hurt them ok. " The man is a half-elf and looks like the docker type. Wearing colorful clothing and has a book with him. Hugo:
You find no threats of the technological sort. You have been very thorough in your efforts and will receive +2 circumstance bonus on the next task. Some of you have more do to with your mini encounters, you can add a spoiler for me. I am going to skip to the end of the day to keep things moving for the rest of the team. You give your report to the Viscount and he nods. "Very good. You will report to the head of the Flint R.H.C tomorrow. Her name is Lady Inspectress Margaret Saxby. She is a stickler for discipline and protocol so get some rest and do not be late. " It is early evening when you get back. You have time to do a few more things before bed in preparation for tomorrow. ![]()
![]() After you meet with Viscount Inspector Nigel, you learn that you are chosen for a security detail for the launching of a new warship the R.N.S Coaltongue You are sworn to secrecy and are allowed to canvas the area and the ship one day prior to the event. You will be tasked with a security checkpoint to ensure the safety of the King during the event. Everyone gets to make one skill roll and tell me what and where they are canvasing for. Once you are done you are each given a Gentleman's Outfit or Lady's Outfit (whichever you choose) and a pocket watch. These items are found in the extended players guide on starting onpage 15. Each of you also has a pair of gold laced handcuffs. All of these items are considered requisitioned for the mission in addition to your starting gear. "Report back to me if you discover anything significant. Make sure to get a good rest this evening." The Viscount says before you depart for the day. He gives you a rare smile with a glimmer of pride in his eye. ![]()
![]() The Viscount does a head count and you notice there is a half-elf wearing glasses looking a little out of place. "You there, Keidoli is it? No standard duty station yet I take it. Fine, no time to fuss about that now, you will be assigned to this mission also. Just stand over there with the others." ![]()

Sounds good. When things are overpowered its generally due to a combination of things. In a normal game you are probably right, but since I ruled that you could use disable device with your construct from the theme I think you will get some nice synergy there. I can not foresee all the benefits, so long as you are conscious of it and desire a balanced game I think we will be fine. ![]()
![]() "Ok, the following recruits fall in! Agents Lysander,
![]()
![]() @Snorter, and anyone else interested the recruitment is closed sorry. Grumpy Rant:
So this recruitment has taught me next time to just allow core only and allow no substitutes. People ask if you can play a magus or investigator and just assume that opens every archetype on the internet. I suppose if I were and AI I could be familiar with everything on the D20PFSRD, but I am a human so limited.Do you understand that the npcs are not made with all those options? Do you understand that I have to look into every single one of those archetypes and read them? I see now why there are so few GMs on this PbP board. The Following Submissions are good as is and chosen for the campaign
Below are submissions I did not choose, but should someone drop I would like to invite you pending some changes.
Kiedoli:
I like the character, just wish you didn't surprise me with the archetype. I didn't get a chance to read it all and decide where you may or may not break the game on me. Kane:
Your backstory was a bit incoherent even excusing the grammar. The Clergy and the Vekeshi Mystics are very much opposites and the trials to become a Vekeshi Mystic are certainly noteworthy and possibly enough to write a backstory by itself. I like the idea that you might have some strange heritage unknown to you, but you need to decide Clergy or Vekeshi Mystic, the two don't mix at all in this AP. So I will be opening up the Discussion Tab and you can post in/out of character to introduce yourselves. ![]()
![]() I am finishing up reading all the submissions now. Sarasma's favored weapon is probably the Elven Curve Blade, though she has three forms with six arms and there are some sects that worship her after her defeat that is different than when she was alive so I could see arguments for new "favored weapons", but the Elven Curve Blade is probably traditional. I am ok with a Deva taking Breadth of Experience. Kane: I like your submission, but if you could do me a favor and clean up the back story a bit. Break it up into paragraphs and fix some of the grammar. I am typically not such a stickler, but it was hard to read. It flows like one run on sentence. I appreciate having a basic fighter in the group ![]()
![]() TerrorOfDeath wrote: just finished the extended player's guide and just WOW. I just have to say the whole thing with the 12ft tall bears that fight to death to just determine who becomes an ambassador is just crazy but hilarious. But beyond that. After finishing it, I came to ask whether or not we are allowed to the Magus class for character creation. Depends on how you justify being a Magus, but I could see that working. They don't really fit into my mind when I think of this AP, but maybe you have an idea for one that makes sense. ![]()
![]() Someone PMed me about the technologist contraption and if I would allow it to disable devices. I am going to allow that since I believe that is fitting in the concept/flavor. This does not mean disable device is reduced to a standard action, it just means you would have to direct your device to remain disableing the device for several actions, maybe rounds. I figured I would share that with all of you in case anyone else was looking at that theme. ![]()
![]() Sounds good guys. I think I will give everyone another weekend. There is a good amount of reading in the player's guide to digest. On Monday I will compile the applicants and announce the party. If you are not announced I would like to keep in contact with you via PM on these boards in case a spot opens up. After I announce the party I will open up the discussion board and open up a lil RP for the party to mingle and introduce their characters while I set up the game. Game should be up Tuesday. Questions? ![]()
![]() Jacob: I would like to know more about this constable you befriended and why that relationship developed. Give the constable a name too or maybe it can be another one of the applicants and if so which one. Do they know you are kitsune? I also do not see any pouch of spell components in your inventory, remember your archetype removes the Eschew Material feat. ![]()
![]() Nikolaus:
Ok, you make some good points. I can not see a real game to the system you are presenting here by having these changes so I will allow all three. I assume your Deity is Srasama, though a case could be made for a member of "The Clergy" I suppose. Applicants so far Let me know if I missed anyone Lysander Eladrin Oracle
There are others that have mentioned having concepts, like a Yerasol Veteran Fighter ect. ![]()
![]() Nikolaus ( Viscountess Bas):
I like your story and dossier. I can say that I am ok for that being your personal death experience and perspective, but death might present itself different to others so I don't want to give you the impression that I am going to keep strictly to the concept you presented, but I am ok for you using in your background. I am ok with each archetype individually, together though I am not sure. I am willing to hear your arguments to and where you are planning to take this character. Teddy Ruxsbin: A sorcerer should be ok. I suggest reading the AP and deciding what theme feat you would want. Please read the players guide I linked at the top for that. Tattooed Sorceror I will allow, but remember you have to use materials for your spells now and this would be a practice you would probably only see in foreign lands so consider being from Ber, Elfainar or Danor. ![]()
![]() I am not allowing "books" so much as certain content. Stick to the core rulebook as much as possible, but certain elements from other books make sense. Investigators, Inquisitors ext. But Summoners and Samurai don't. I judge submissions on case by case. Party composition is important and I will not take 3 fighters. I may take 3 martial characters though that compliment each other. Are you referring to prestige from the adventure path or prestige classes? In the adventure path certain things can effect your prestige raiting right away. Being a docker for example raises the party's initial prestige in the docks with the locals. ![]()
![]() No unchained sorry. I meant to address that when asked about background skills, nothing from Pathfinder Unchained is appropriate for what I have planed for this AP. Please understand that this AP was not made with all these extras some of you are asking for. If I allow them for your PCs then I need to adjust the NPCs to be on the same footing. It might mean I get less applicants, but I want a good game that has the potential to go the long haul. Teddy Ruxsbin:
That name is a bit over the top silly. Fey bloodline could work with this AP, will have to look into tattooed sorcerer not familiar with that. Nikolaus de'Shade: 3 archetypes from multiple sources is a bit much eh. Consider that I crafted all the NPCs in the same manner (which is what I would have to do to keep things challenging ) I like that you put some time into your background I do not have time until this evening to read it all, but I will before tomorrow- I work graveyards. ![]()
![]() Vrog(Lysander):
I like it and looks correct. Do you intend to continue to pose as a male even for your fellow agents, or are you going to reveal that you are a female to the team? Chobo: So far it looks good it looks like you kept to early firearm pistol for the build I appreciate that. I have not had the time to read your background I will probably get to that later, but mechanically it looks fine. ![]()
![]() wanderer82 wrote:
No not using those options sorry. Your characters will be quite capable with a 25 point buy and the theme feat from the AP itself. I would like to keep it as close to core as possible otherwise I need to spice up the encounters to keep things on par and I am not willing to do that much work frankly. ![]()
![]() alexgndl wrote: Perfect, gonna try to make a Toxin Codexer investigator if that's alright. Seems like a really interesting take on a poisoner. That looks ok at first glance. It looks like more flavor than bonus hunting I hope I am right. That reminds me, please do not try to break the game with stacked bonuses. I am sure you are all competent in 8th grade math and can hunt down the best bonuses, but that isn't going to create the best gaming experience in the long run. I think a 25 point buy is generous and should fill any perceived gaps. ![]()

ok...thanks...that's why I like to be set up before recruitment...sigh.... ![]()
![]() Try this one. Apparently there is an extended players guide too. If its not on this one I am not sure what to think because its on page 5 for me. Extended Players Guide Investigators are also fine, I missed a few things as this was a bit rushed. I really wish that they let you get your ducks in a row with the campaign tab before they make you present a recruitment thread. It seems backwards to me. ![]()

That is a bit over the top I'd say. Its important to point out that the guns in this era are primarily muzzle loaders. We are talking early guns. ![]()
![]() Recruitment Thread I put up recruitment a bit early. I wanted to add information to the campaign tab, but I can't until recruitment is put up so here we go. ![]()
![]() "Listen up recruits! You have passed the initial screening process. Now you must submit to more rigorous scrutiny to determine if you are right for the Royal Homeland Constabulary. Should you continue on, you will become official RHC agents and wield authority from King Aodhan himself. Remember that, and be worthy of that authority. Now line up and prepare for final selection." The Viscount declares and signals with his hands where to line up. He is wearing full military regalia today, a rarity for this humble veteran of the fourth Yerasol War. Though he needs no such uniform to wield respect, his charisma and competence as a commander are obvious. Welcome to the Zeitgeist Recruitment. Here is the players guide Zeitgeist Player's Guide Become familiar with it before you submit a character please. Character Creation: I expect to finish recruitment a week from now. I expect people to post once a day, not including the weekends. I will not bot your character just narrate a reason for your absence. I will be adding information to the campaign tab this weekend. I originally was not going to generate a recruitment thread yet, but I have to in order to have access to the campaign tab so apologies if things are a bit piece meal initially. 25 points. This AP is heavy investigation so consider adding points into int for more skills. No Traits The players guide has theme feats to chose from that are actually quite powerful. You get to choose only 1. Races Core races, Gnomes in this setting are rarer and more connected to the fey and what is called the Dreaming. Tieflings are common and allowed, though you may be regarded with some suspicion. There are two races that are AP specific, the Deva and the Eladrin which are also allowed find them in the player's guide. Other races exist in the AP, but will require a compelling back story to justify them as a PC. Classes Core classes, barbarians are rare and will require justification. Advanced Player's Guide classes are allowed with the exception of the summoner. Gunslingers are also allowed from the Ultimate Combat. Starting Gear 150 gold in starting gear. Third Party No other third party will be allowed in this campaign as the AP itself has a lot of additional material to sort through. Alignment No Evil alignments. LG-N for all others. CN alignments are allowed for gnome characters due to the strange nature of those associated with the dreaming in this setting. Background Your background should include why you joined the RHC and show that you have read the player's guide. It does not need to be a novel. Expect that I will use things you write about. ![]()

Thanks! WoW 5 years! I am doing the reading, expect a recruitment thread Monday night/Tuesday morning. ![]()
![]() Oh nice looks like some interest ok. To answer Aipaca I will have to see what Spheres of Might/Power is and how it would enhance the setting. There is already a bit of changes from the AP itself so to incorperate more might be a chore. I will look at it and make a decision on that before I put up my recruitment. I will post a link for recruitment here then in about a week after I have done more reading. Thanks for the response. ![]()
![]() I wanted to do an investigation AP for Pathfinder and did some research and this one came up in my findings and looks quite good.I want to see how much interest there is before I commit to the amount of reading that is going to be required to run this properly. I will be running it theater of the mind, so no maps. I want emphasis on investigation and role play. There are many free supplements for this you can find here on Paizo just search Zeitgeist. Besides those supplements I will be allowing Pathfinder Core, The APG (No Summoners though), Some of the Advanced Class Guide (the Investigator for sure), Ultimate Intrigue, Some of the Occult Adventure stuff I might allow as long as it fits the theme. There are two races unique to the setting, and it looks like Tieflings are also in the setting so besides core races those will be the only ones allowed. Gnomes looke like they are rare if even in the setting so they might not be allowed or at least limited. I think that is all for now if and when I get enough interest I will make a much more detailed and specific recruitment put up. If anyone is familar with this AP and has suggestions beyond what I have posted I am open to suggestions. |
