Dear Paizo,

Is it possible for you to provide alternative downloads of pdfs that do not contain the "pretty" backgrounds. I am using an android based ipad and the rendering time is killing me! The pages render great but they would render faster if they were not so art heavy. Many other pdfs that I have do not render as slow as yours. (But many do not have the great art that you provide.)

I would like to see just the background art removed not the graphics of the wonderful title art, character pictures, or creatures. It seems the few programs that render pdf files for viewing in Android cannot handle the backgrounds. The size of the pdf is not a problem but the graphic intensive backgrounds reduce the rendering time of one page to almost 30 seconds each page. I know Adobe Acrobat 9 can remove backgrounds from pdf files but your pdfs are DRM'd, and does not allow the end user to remove them. I agree you should protect your content.

I can only hope this is made possible, cause I don't think I can wait for the technology to get cheap enough for all of us to enjoy a quad core tablet that renders as fast as a laptop, just so I can read the rulebooks.

Edit....Yes.....I could just read the actual books (which I own at least one copy of each, and many of the Adv Paths) but traveling with all of them is like carrying around a 2 year old.... :P

Why is this so High? I think it is a great adventure path but I didnt think the value would climb to such heights...

Below is a house rule I have been using and I would like some feedback or ideas on it.

HOUSE RULE:
All armor DR (Damage Reduction)is equal to the armor class bonus by type. (I.E. Half Plate has a +8 AC bonus, giving it a DR 8)

If the armor DR is greater than dmg dealt(dice plus bonuses to dmg), than the minimum dmg taken is always 2 HP.

(for example- A fighter wearing half plate (DR8) gets hit by a dagger, doing 5 points of dmg. The fighter will take 2 HP of dmg per hit.)

If the damage die (or dice) used for the weapon totals higher than the DR of the armor, it will automatically bypass the DR. (i.e. If a paladin with a war hammer (1d8 = 8) hits a fighter wearing chainmail (DR 4) the war hammer will bypass the armors DR; but if the paladin, wearing full plate (DR 9), gets hit by the longsword(1d8= 8) of the fighter, than the paladins armor will absorb up to 9 points of dmg from the hit. The paladin will take the default 2 HP and fight on! The fighter better get a bigger weapon!

Magical Armors provides no extra bonus to DR! Monsters not wearing armor do not get a DR (with a few exceptions, dragons, Huge creatures, golems, etc. Theses excepptions will be up to the DM to rule on, on a case by case basis.)

NOTE: In my campaign all Compound Bows (Short, Long, Great) & Crossbows (Hand, Light, Heavy, Great) will negate the DR in all armor type, but not the magical bonus. This balances out the DR of
