I have a small game and we run mostly a 3.5 Forgotten Realms game. We are all set to kick off a new campaign based on the Last Mythal series. We are looking for 2 new players to fill seats. No experience necessary. PM me or post on this thread.

Silver Crusade

I run a 3.5 game and a pathfinder game so I really don't know where to put this. There was an article in either Dungeon or Dragon that had tavern games in it and one was called Delayed Blast Fireball it was a game on chance and my players used to have a blast...no pun intended ... playing it with their characters. I have just received my collection after moving back to the states and some of them are missing. I can't seem to find the issue. Could someone please share a little knowledge so I can either try to get the back issue or the PDF?

Silver Crusade

I noticed that alot of the pages such as Community 3E and Ema;s Sheets have gone away. On Ema's website it says he was asked to shut it down by WOTC. Did all the fan pages go away because of this? I miss being able to go to sites and see what others were doing for Prestige classes and such. Are there any left?

Ok Im tired of buying prepainted Mini's. My best friend passed away and I wanted to get mini's of our last adventuring group together. Now I found the Mini's I wanted and I understand the painting part. How the devil do you assemble them. I was preparing to order them online and it said in the description "needs assembly". What exactly does that mean and do I have to have soldering gun and such prepared for this? Im diving head long into this and I just need advice from people who know what they are doing. Thanks for any input. Any Painting tips would be most helpful too.

BTW I found a brush that looks like a hair on a stick, REALLY?!?!?!? Guess Im investing in a magnifying glass. Be gentle...

I havent played Eberron much but I finally sat in on a game. The DM had a very interesting rule. He said that Warforged could not be sorcerers because how could they possess the blood of Dragons or Outsiders. I thought this was an interesting way to put it. Is there an actual rule for this? If not, what do you think of the ruling?

Silver Crusade

If I remember right the Living FR campaign in 2006 or 2007 had something to do with the choosing of Meilikki's chosen and some Orc was chosen instead of an elf or Human. Does anyone remember the name of the campaign? Id like to look up some info on it to run a similar campaign. Id sounded so interesting at the time and for the life of me I cant remember the name. HELP!

Silver Crusade

I know this has been done before but please keep this Paizo, OGL, or 3.x related Im tired of getting in fights with people over 4.0. Whats your fave race and why? I grew up on movies like Hawk the Slayer, and Tor of the Hill People. I fell in love with Elves and all their variations because of it. Hopefully this stays civil.

Silver Crusade

Now I read some of the books but can someone please explain to me what the heck happened to the Forgotten Realms. Are these changes before the switch to 4th? Finally, has this effected anyone's game?

Ive loved the Forgotten Realms since they first came out. I remember reading about it in Dragon and when the Gray Box finally came out I was all over it. So what the heck? Magic is dead? Kingdoms just fall? WTF?

Silver Crusade

Ive tried and tried to hold my tounge for too bleedin long but this weekend was the straw that crippled the camel. So I go to my local gaming store and decide to run a game. Keep in mind there are tons of Pathfinder books on the shelves. These guys come in and have signed up for my game, when they see me pulling out Pathfinder books, they ask why I am not playing "Real D&D". Once I got the urge to kill under control, I calmly explained to them that I have been playing since 1983 and I would nail my head to a wall before playing 4th edition. I explained that I fell in love with 3.5 and when WOTC killed my beloved magazines, i.e. Dungeon and Dragon magazine, I gave up on WOTC feeling that they were moving away from what old school gamers liked and wanted. I loved the Open License of alot of the D20 systems because it opened up alot of ground for exploration for those of us used to doing things the old way. I loved having different resource materials available and built a rich gaming world because of it.

I dont like the 4th edition rules and game play. Now before you get out your pitch forks and torches, realize this is my personal experience. I love Pathfinder and I loved the idea of me not having to pack up my whole bleedin library and starting over. After all the way the Forgotten Realms got treated was unforgivable.

Anywhoo, I am still running my Pathfinder and 3.5 games and having a blast. I know that every time I go to a convention I get guff about this but oh well. I just needed to blow off steam before I exploded. As for "real D&D" they can keep it.

Silver Crusade

Ok now as much as I love playing D&D sometimes think my blood pressure is going to go so high that either my head explodes ruining my fine collection of gaming material or I am just going to have a heartattack and realizing that I am dying will try to set my library on fire so I can go out viking style. Ok here's my latest complaint, I think I am going to need a wee bit of advise also.

Ok so I have my Pc's in this tree top city, they are incredibly high off the ground when the resident cleric, who has the fly spell, decides he wants to jump off the edge of the city and hold off casting his spell until he has fallen a bit. Ok now what in the name of Zeus' b!*#~#!! would be the concentration DC for falling at terminal velocity towards almost certain doom? I really didnt know what the DC would be and when I talk to the player himself about making concentration checks, he thinks I am screwing him over, not just in this instance but all the freakin time. Could somone help me out by helping me figure out a DC for falling quite quickly towards the earth?

Ok my one female gamer has decided that she would like to try to DM and this is the campaign idea she pitched me, I am going to post it to see what kind of feedback and maybe ideas I can get from everyone.

The premise of her campaign is fairly reminiscent of time bandits... She would like to have a group of evil people going through time and stealing artifacts. These artifacts are going to be used in some evil plot to give some grand bad guy a shot at divinity. She told me should would like to use an Inevitable to bring the group together. The first games would almost be one on one where she establishes the characters reasons for actually undertaking the quest. She would like to have the Inevitable snatch the various party members away right before their untimely deaths. For Example, she would like to play a short theft with the party rogue, when he sets off a trap that would kill him, the Inevitable shows up and gives him an offer he can't refuse. She would like to have the party based out of a small keep in Limbo or some demi plane. The Inevitable would be the patron of sorts for the party and would be responsible to sending them to the right time periods and briefing them on their missions. She would like the base to contain the various weapons used by the different cultures and the different types of currencies. She would also like the Inevitable to brief the party on the local customs. So the party has a base and a patron...

Now she would like to use this campaign as a way to expose the players themselves to various cultures. She wants a Roman type culture, an Amazon based culture, a Mongol culture, and an Aztec based setting. Through all of these the party members are chasing these bad guys and trying to thwart whatever plans they have. The party must find out what the plans of the bad guys are and this would lead up to the final showdown. She would like the Final battle to take place in a Labyrinth like setting with subjectual gravity and confusing layouts.

I told her I would aid her in her DMing seeing that it is her first time. I think that the story itself has merit and I can see a ton of roleplaying potential. I know this player very well and she has a love of good novels, I am hoping that her love of stories will add to her campaign. Now if any of you have any suggestions or ideas, please share. Shes a wee bit nervous but I told her that all good DM's started somewhere and this being her first campaign is off to a good start.

Well my weekly game session just turned into a big steaming pile of poo. Yesterday I had a player, a paladin mind you, who was the niminal leader of the party decide to decapitate one of the other party members for not following his orders in war time. He argues that it was the lawful good thing to do. A little background, after a mass combat where the Human Paladin was leading an almost exclusively elven army, a part of his troops asked to go home. The elf member of the party helped them to get to the gate which he opened to allow the elves to be gated home. When the Paladin found out that he had lost some of his troops, he marched over to the elven encampment after gathering the rest of the party. He ordered the elf character to his knees. When the Elf character refused to kneel but also refused to fight back, he simply lopped his head off. The rest of the party was in shock and the paladin couldnt understand why the rest of the army decided to leave. He then pitched a fit when a party member asked him to explain himself, stating that he was the leader and he made HIS decision. Now this player thinks I am out of line for taking away not only his alignment but his paladin status. The other lawful character in the party explained to said paladin that he should have at least let the character explain his actions before passing judgement at all. The paladin's player said that because his character had earned his experience, his new character that he was bringing in was going to have 11000 experience points compared to the rest of the party's 8500. I feel like somewhere along the line I lost control and the group is deciding whether or not they want top even play with this guy anymore, could you please send some advice my way?

Silver Crusade

One of my players asked me a question that actually stumped me, so I immediately ran here for some advice. The question posed is thus: If a character changes type to fay and gains damage reduction cold iron, does just touching an item made of cold iron do damage to her? I didnt want to make an out of hand ruling so if you could help me out with this I would appreciate it.

I really think I need to move back to the US. I recieved my copy of issue 146 in the mail but I have yet to recieve 145. My friend has a Dragon Subscription and he was having problems too. I think that maybe it is our Canadian postal system. I dont know if its just in our town or nation wide. Can you please tell me what I should do about this?

Thanks,

Since I have started playing D&D again, I have been on the huint for the perfect character sheet. I happened upon a few character sheets from this Ema person. Ever since I have been in smitten by this woman's brain. I was wondering if this was even a real person if so, good job. I dont know who she is really I just know that anything I get with the name Ema on it has been good to me. Tell me what you think or maybe what you use for your perfect character sheet.

Silver Crusade

I dont have Dungeon Number 144 yet, I dont know if its the mail system or the weather here. Could you please let my know if I am jumping the gun on this. Thank you.

Silver Crusade

Ok I might really get some toss pots really upset but I thought I should start this thread before I ended up "jacking" someone elses.

Ok one of the biggest wankers I have ever had the misfortune to read about is Drizzt. I really liked the Crystal Shard series and I thought his Trilogy about his early life was great. All of a sudden we have an uber powerful barbarian, ranger, rogue, monkey who everyone swears by. I mean bloody hell, his biggest asset was his novelty and once there were a billion people wanting to play good Drow, that novelty was gone. One other thing I find annoying is the way he has to whine incessantly at the beginning of every chapter of the new books. He can kill a thousand orcs but if he loses one friend its the end of the flaming world.

Another character that I have never had any time for is...ok I know this is going to really turn someone's crank remember this is just my opinion...Elminster. I have never liked god characters that know everything. Every superhero has a weakness and should at least in some way be vulnerable. This guy can suduce a goddess, can hear an ant fart in Kara-Tur, and tell you what said ant has eaten along with the history of teh region it is from. I cant stand know it all characters and I really just cant stand this one.

Keep in mind that this is my opinion. I really dont want to see a lynch mob come into my yard to burn my library. I just want to see what other characters some other players may dispise.

Silver Crusade

I am just dropping a line to let you all know that I havent recieved issue #142 of Dungeon. I know #142 shipped during the holidays so I am not expecting that for quite awhile, the Canadian postal System and such. Could anyone else let me know if I am jumping the gun here? Thanks.

Silver Crusade

Ok I might be showing how inept I am but here is, my question to all you knowledgeable D&D Fanatics. I was just thinking about our resident rogue hiding in shadows. If she is hiding in a shadow with no other cover, the guards have just walked by her missing there spot checks, and now she is approached by a Half orc with dark vision. Would she get a minus on her hide or would she just stick out? This is just a really minor question but I am just trying to figure it out in game terms.

Silver Crusade

No this isnt a paranoid rant about how the government is watching you. Of course since I have been on my meds, they havent been watching me as closely. Ok, to my real question. I was thinking about changing the prestige assassin to allow any non good into it. I was wondering if anyone out there has tried this and if I could maybe get some feedback. Story wise, we can come up with some good reasons for this in my campaign, but I would like to hear what others think.

Silver Crusade

I really hope I didnt spell that wrong, long days at work are accounting to my mental instability. I know that you guys are hearing alot of complaining from the Canadian subscribers. i just want to tell you all that I think you are doing a bang up job. I am still waiting for my subscriptions but I am still planning on buying a subscription to Dragon as well as my Dungeon subscription. Every time I have had a question, I have gotten quick replies, once I was even answered within five minutes. I just want to say that as much as I complain, I also appreciate the work that you all are doing for us. Cheers all.

P.S. With a name like Vic the guy is bound to be the coolest guy out there. Check my real name out.

Hello again. Its October 20th here in freezing Canada. I havent recieved my issue of Dungeon yet. This is my first subscription so I dont know if it usually takes this long. I suspect my post man but once again I could just need meds. Could someone please tell me if I am missing my issue or if it is still in route. In an aside its a royal pain in my celtic arse that my players bought theirs off the rack and started telling me about the adventures in it. Anywhoo, Praise Paizo in all its glory.

Silver Crusade

I havent recieved issue #140 yet and I was just wondering if anyone knows how long it takes to get to Canada? The store that I usually buy my issues from, should be getting them this Thursday. Could someone get back to me opn this? Thanks a million
