Or worse, what if he thinks -- Oh marvellous, my beaming boy's sent me some lovely new recruits to stalk the halls against the orcish threat; I just need to curse them with eternal living death first..." Vaniel shrugs at the last comment " Be it as it may, I have already given my word that I shall do what can be done to put these souls to rest. From the story I believe this Lux to be loyal to Phlaan and a loyal soldier just desprate to turn back a mass attack on his home. But for now I will secure a pair of rooms" As Vaniel heads off to find the tavern keep to purchase rooms for the night he just makes out Blythe's request to search for an alchemist, he turns back for a moment and reaches into his pouch and hands her 50 gold " See if you can find me a potion of healing please" with that Vaniel then turns back around and continues his task at hand how much are the rooms? ![]()

![]() Sense Motive1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 Vaniel listens intently to the priest. A compassionate and serene expression crosses the face of the paladin. A story much like his own, parents taken by monsters. He says nothing to the priest as he heads off for fear of causing more distress. When he is alone, Vaniel walks up to the center and stops right before the main alter and he takes a knee and whispera vow By my word, I shall but to rest Lux's spirit and his mens as well by the request of brother Samos. They have done thier part. Now its our turn to do ours . This I swear that done Vaniel makes his way back out to meet with Blythe. Once he catches up to the woman and they begin thier walk back Vaniel tells her "That was a most informative. When we get regroup with the others I will further explain." Vaniel takes a long pause before speaking again "I feel I must apologize for not speaking earlier on the walk here. My mind was preoccupied and this would be my first time traveling with others on my own. How bout yourself?" Vaniel asks making small talk ![]()

During the walk Vaniel's thoughts of his life up to this point still weigh heavy in his mind ...if only I could've been there. I could've saved... Coming too at the temple's entrance with Blythe's words Vaniel muttered something of a sorry that was barely audible and he stepped inside. The moment he stepped inside Vaniel instantly felt his soul come to peace and some of his inner turmoil ease. Its the same feeling that he got every time he entered Torm's sanctuary. He quickly offered a deep bow and then looked to find a priest who was not busy. Upon finding one Vaniel again offers a reverential bow " Greetings brother, I am Vaniel Silvermane, A simple servant to Torm's loyal calling. I have come to make a humble donation to the church as well as pledge my service. All I ask in return is a bit of information on how the church is faring during this crisis and my party have been charged with finding what is ailing Sokol keep. Pray tell anything the church may know. Any information even something small could be vital." After he finishes speaking Vaniel reaches into a pouch and pulls out 20 gold and hands it over with a slight bow Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 ![]()

![]() Vaniel remains quiet throughout the declaration of war to retake the city. His silence remains further when thier group is pulled aside to speak with Porphyrys. He places a hand to his pointed chin and gently strokes it while listening to his companions ideas and comments. "It would seem prudent to gather more information and seeing that I should go introduce myself to the church of Torm, I will see what can be gathered there. Im sure it shouldn't take long. What pub should I meet you all at?" After finding out the pub Vaniel offers a bow to the councilman and then to his companions and takes his leave heading in the direction of the church. ![]()

![]() Giving his thanks to the crew for a safe voyage Vaniel quickly steps off and is greatful that part of the trip is over. Looking around with what feels like fresh eyes after the long trip. As he walks with his newly made companions Vaniel uses his senses to take in the over all atmosphere of the town. He also makes it a point to look on to people's faces noting any that show fear and apprehension, otherwise he remains quiet on the walk to city hall ![]()

![]() After his bout of sea sickness in the first half of the trip, Vaniel was able to over come it through strength in his faith as well as himself. After that night with the soup Vaniel spent most of his time up on the deck enjoying the surroundings. When New Phlan is spotted Vaniel smiles to himself Soon we will be off this thing he thinks to himself. Though he prayed every morning Vaniel spends the last hour or so in quiet contemplation and praying to Torm. ![]()

I was looking for something meaningful...What brings you out here? I hope its worth the voyage. Vaniel places a hand to his slightly pointed chin and rubs it in thought at the simple question. As his thoughts turn inward, His mind brings up images of his past to this point. His father and the forced studying. Then to his mother, always insisting that he stay inside where he could be safe. Heading off to learn at the famed wizard towers. Time at the church. All these thoughts and a dozen more flooded his mind. Vaniel came too with a quick shake of the head to clear the cobwebs. "My father prefered the arcane arts, I however never developed the ability. But worth the voyage you ask? We shall see. Many stories are told of the land in which we now travel too. Let us hope that whatever paths leads us here, the same forces see us home" Vaniel offers a weak smile but you can tell that the word home when spoken pained him in someway ![]()

Perhaps this is forthcoming, but my father was a cleric of his. "I am a champion of Torm yes. My name is Vaniel Silvermane, Paladin of the order of The Loyal Fury. Ah your father must of been a good man as for the soup, na I didn't have any. It would seem that on land I can handle anything but here on this ship with the rocking..." Vaniel pauses to take a quick breath and a slight shutter coarses through his body and he swallows hard "can't say it would stay down and I for one would not like to be confined back to my quarters. But I digress. Since I've told a bit about myself how about you? Whats your story friend? " ![]()

![]() After many moments pass, Vaniel's stomache finally seemed to settle down a bit. He takes a small sip of water from his skin and after wiping the sweat that had formed on his brow, Vaniel stands and when he's sure he's not gonna get sick again heads over to grab a bowl soup, though knowing the cook's heavy hand for spice, Vaniel just grimaces as he begins to turn the same shade of green again once the smell hits his nostrils. Whispering a brief word "Torm give me strength" you can see Vaniel's normal palor slowly returns to his face. He takes a seat but doesn't eat " Not sure if I can handle it but how's the soup" seeing everyones reaction to it and doubting very much that his reaction would be different ![]()

![]() sorry for the delay in posting Finally emerging from his bunk after spending the last few days fighting a losing battle with motion sickness Vaniel makes his way to grab a bit of biscuit and some water to wash it down. As he enters the galley Vaniel's face turns a ghastly shade of green before he quickly exits and makes his way back up deck. After calming his wretching stomache Vaniel makes his return and mumbles " So much for being a champion of Torm. Can't even keep water down" turning to the nearest crewman, the half elf asks in a weak voice "how long till we're off this blasted boat?" After getting his answer the silver haired warrior, by all appearances, just groans and rubs his beary eyes wishing the trip was through ![]()
