![]() In the morning before Garret makes his way towards Otti's Valnir mentions he will try to hunt down Darice Sumore and see what sort of price their trip to Escadar might entail. Well boys, I believe I'll call upon Captain Sumore and see about a boat to Escadar. What say we reconvene after we speak to the various Captain's and see which might be our best option. Truth be told I hope it's her, as after the last few days it might be nice to travel with the fairer sex for a bit. With that Valnir asks around for some information regarding Captain Sumore, and then heads to her location. ![]()

![]() Valnir inspects the dead Kobold. He pockets the small bag full of amethysts (though intends to split the loot after they make camp). Noticing the hue of the wooden wand Valnir casts detect magic which verifies this to be a magical item. Valnir takes a closer look: C'mon dice, you owe me...
Unfortunately for Valnir he does not have the ability to use the wand, he offers it to the other members of the group. I found a wand of cure light wounds. Can one of you use it help Balak and Garrett? I'm unable to activate it. After passing off the wand if possible Valnir follows Thayn into the hovel to help as well as see if any other magical items might exist: Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 ![]()

![]() I've had about enough of this, here I am trying to have a civilized conversation and you try to feed my little friend here to your pet croc. Tell me Garret, any good recipes for blackened Crocodile? A red aura begins to surround Valnir as he murmurs and waves his hands. Suddenly as his hands push forward a great blast of flame erupts engulfing the Crocodile. Cast defensively DC 15: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Entangle Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15 Man, I just found withdraw in the combat rules. Wish I'd known about that first round lol. Perhaps next round, I need some breathing space. ![]()

![]() Either she mistakes our intentions or does not care. Either way it looks like we'll not be leaving without a fight. Valnir looks at his feet, annoyed at the effects of the entanglement spell cast by the Kobold. He begins working to remove himself.
Escape Artist: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13 Valnir, now free of his entanglement, makes a move away from the giant lizard.
I think moving within the area forces me to attempt save, so this is for that. If I'm wrong on that ignore this roll.
Valnir casts Ray of Frost at the attacking Kobold.

![]() Valnir attempts to speak to the Kobold. He raises his voice so that she can hear him, but does his best to sound friendly. One by one Valnir attempts the different languages he knows, saying the following: Sorry to disturb you, do you speak *language*? Valnir cycles through the languages he knows that were not already attempted by Garrett in this order: Goblin
Should Valnir find a common tongue he continues: Excuse me, we are sorry to disturb you. We are simple travelers trying to make our way out of the mountains. Our path and your home appear to overlap. We hope you'll permit us passage so we can be on our way. ![]()

![]() Valnir listens intently to the strange language coming from the structure. While he has no idea the content of the sounds he attempts to discern how many voices are present.
As quietly as possible Valnir passes along any information he gleans to the party. ![]()

![]() At the site of his dagger glancing off the beasts hide Valnir yells several Sylvan expletives. Well let's go back to what worked before, Valnir mumbles to himself as he begins moving his hands. Within a moment a blue burst of energy flies at the animal. Ray of Frost (Touch Attack): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

![]() All good on the soft-cover, I've been reading up on the resource site to fill in gaps. Thank you though. As Valnir stares at the barely visible form of the beast his dagger flies from his hand, seemingly of its own volition. The dagger sets a straight course for where the beast lay... ![]() @gmAlice So in the gameplay thread I am no longer able to delete/edit my last entry. I'm also curious about your saying we'll need a move action to get out of our tents, are we in tents? I had presumed we were all in the open in bedrolls (for example I don't own a tent). Based on your explanation of needing to get up from prone and the fact the enemy of will move before me if that post can just be ignored and I'll re-post when my initiative block comes up. ![]()

![]() Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 Valnir jumps at the alarm of both Shivaan yelling and Clacent screaming out in pain. He looks around taking in the situation then fixes his gaze on the jungle cat. At his first opportunity Valnir moves his hands in a rythmic fashion while murmuring an ancient tongue. Valnir's action will depend on the current position of the beast. If a cone attack will include his allies Valnir will case Ray of Frost. If a cone attack will only hit the beast, without harming an ally or their gear he will cast burning hands. Valnir will move into range if needbe, but will stay at max distance and near an ally if possible.
Ray of Frost (Touch Attack): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Damage (Burning Hands): 1d4 ⇒ 4
Not sure exactly how to format this, since I don't know exactly how the board will be laid out when my block comes up. If I need to change my approach let me know. ![]()

![]() Valnir carefully crosses the river, keeping an eye out for possible attack. As he plants his feet back on firm ground he draws his dagger in response to his companions conversation. Take 10 acrobatics = 10 + 1 = 11 While I had hoped to avoid this nuisance all together, if this beast intends to get in our way might it be best to set our own trap? The setback of preparing our own ambush may be less costly than walking into its. Valnir continues to eye the forest edge, dagger drawn. ![]()

![]() Valnir moves his hand to his dagger and peers around the forest's edge. Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 Valnir mentions to his companions: It looks like a log may have served as the sole means to cross this river. We may have to find another way around. I'm not much of a woodsman however, Thayn or Clacent, does this look crossable to you? ![]()

![]() Valnir accepts one of the goodberries and stows it away in a pouch hanging from his belt. Later, Valnir thanks Garret for the hot meal, devours it. Afterwords, Valnir sits by fire performing low level spells, barely cantrips, to amuse himself. A fallen leaf jumps from the ground, dances around the campfire, and then darts into the fire itself. Valnir compliments Garret on his cooking prowess. After Garret's confession about Lady Morianna's request: Might I inquire, if you know, as to the contents of Lady Moriana's letter? I must say I'm not quite comfortable delivering a communique with no idea as to its purpose. At Clacent's mention of of a watch: No argument here. With at least one serious threat we know of, and countless unknown we can not be too safe. I've no problem taking the second watch. ![]()

![]() Valnir address the other members of the party, but makes no attempt to prevent himself from being heard by the Centaur. Comrades, I agree if we run into the beast along our path it would wise to put it down. We should exercise additional caution lest we end up ambushed. However, I do not believe we should go out of our way to pursue the beast as our current task is of a rather timely nature. ![]()

![]() Valnir's interest is notably piqued at the reference to a scheme hatched by Lady Morilla. He decides though to wait for a better time for clarification. Once arrived back at the lodge, while waiting for Rees to arrive, Valnir decides to ask: So what was this about a scheme of the Lady Morilla's?
I believe I have adequate provisions for this trip, for myself at least. I have some trail rations, but will happily pitch in to have Garret cook some proper meals.
Good day Master Rees. It shall be a pleasure to accompany you on this expedition. If there are no other pressing matters or need for discussion, I will finish preparing myself before we set out. Valnir then sets about the task of preparing his 2 spells for the day: Burning Hands and Sleep. ![]()

![]() "Your words of warning hint at additional knowledge of the task at hand, Grandmaster. What dangers await us on this journey? We were warned of the Consortium, and normal perils of adventure. Are there other threats lurking that should be known to us?" Valnir asks Grandmaster torch, believing him to know more than he has said. ![]()

![]() A rather ordinary looking Elf in a worn cloak sits silently in thought. After carefully listening to all the old man has to say he looks up, first at the Lady Morilla, then at Venture Captain Dreng, and asks: I've no doubt, Venture Captain, that this discovery would be of interest to more than just ourselves and the Aspis Consortium. Are there any other groups or individuals we should be wary of on this journey? Perhaps some who may not have explicitly expressed interest. The elf follow's up with a second inquiry: Do we have any information as to the nature of the object we are to procure? Perhaps from the Gillmen themselves, or our own diviners?. Satisfied by the Venture Captain's answers Valnir lets his companions know he is ready to depart when they are. ![]()

The MW Dagger was indeed the arcane bond, I'd forgotten to put it in equipment. Spell Focus feat has also been added. Thanks very much for the once over and clarification. Looking forward to playing with you all. |
