Dawnflower Dervish... It says

"This works like bardic performance, except that the Dawnflower dervish’s performances grant double their normal bonuses, but these bonuses only affect him."

Except it then says:

When the Dawnflower dervish uses the inspire courage, inspire greatness, or inspire heroics bardic performance types as battle dances, these performance types only provide benefit to the Dawnflower dervish himself. All other types of bardic performance work normally (affecting the bard and his allies, or the bard’s enemies, as appropriate)."

Which seems to directly contradict the first part!

I'm presuming the "double their normal bonuses" is supposed to only apply to courage/greatness/heroics"? Possibly even that the first phrase should have said "This works like bardic performance, except that the Dawnflower dervish’s performances grant double their normal bonuses for those types where the bonuses only affect him." ??

With respect, Sean, it doesn't need a 3000 words to say whether or not the omission of that Arena feature in Ultimate Campaign was an intentional decision or an editing error.

Nor was it an unreasonable question. There are three Edict types and there used to be three buildings that modified them. Now two of those buildings - Cathedral and Waterfront - still have that ability and one - Arena - seems to have lost it. It's really not an unreasonable suspicion to wonder if it slipped out in editing or else whether it should perhaps also have been removed from the other two buildings?

Yes, we could change it if we don't like it. But step one to that is finding out whether it was ever intended in the first place?

Book (2nd printing updated) says:

Quote:
Carpenter (30 BP; must be adjacent to a mill; maximum 1 per city; 1 x 2 city blocks): A building for the production of wooden objects and building materials. Reduces the cost of all buildings by 1 BP; Economy +2.

Does this 1 BP reduction in buildings cost apply to that city only? And if it doesn't, does the reduction from Carpenters in different cities stack?

My initial assumption was that bonuses only applied to its own city, until it was pointed out that it says "all buildings" and not "all buildings in same city" (as all the other discount descriptions do). But if it does affect all buildings, then surely the bonus can't stack otherwise you'd just spam Carpenters across multiple cities such that the cheaper buildings then get huge reductions or even come free? Or is that how it's meant to work?
