The obvious is just that: +1 weapon, armor, ring, cloak. +2 str item.

He's a two handed sword user. No particular build per se...the player just takes things that he thinks are interesting at the time. He's got pow attack and furious focus, extra channel and weapon focus. Basic human. Basic paladin.

That is kinda his problem. A wand of lesser restore would be good. He already has a clw wand. Anything else?

Friend's paladin leveled up and needs some gear. Besides the normal stuff (armor, weapon, belt, ring & cloak) are there any good lower level paladin items he should consider?

Inquisitors are waaaay better skill based characters (tons of Lore, Stealth as a Class Skills, Social Skills like Bluff and Sense Motive...basically everything you need to play the concept of Batman). They are intimidation /gods/ ('I'm Batman!'). They aren't full casters, but have lots of good buff and debuff spells, as well as litanies. Their Judgements are way awesome. And they start with Medium armor.

Besides Weapon Focus for the +1 to hit, is there anything I can do to increase my damage/offense?

As I see it, with positioning, divine favor, Justice, Bane, and Shaking them before hand with the Enforcer ability... I can pull from a +12 to hit (my normal) up to a +26 to hit. My damage varies from 1d6+7 (my normal) to 4d6+13 (with all the same buffs as above.

Um...maybe I'm slow but where is the guide? Could someone post a link?

Yeah...plus Enforcer's debuff goodness...I like it!

Any suggestions for my last feat?

DM doesn't let us use 3.5 stuff. Otherwise I'd be playing a Crusader...

Oh...I see. My gosh that's grim...I like it!

Naw just a home campaign mix of adventure path and other mod. What's enforcer do? Why is the mercy feat good doesn't that just let me do nonlethal damage?

D'oh! Saranrae

Hello,

I'm trying something else instead of my Metal Oracle (she just couldn't get the band back together).

Lvl 7 Inquisitor, Garuda Aaisimar
Str 10
Dex 19
Cn 14
Int 9
Wis 16
Cha 7

Traits:
Birthmark
Reactionary (total of +11 to initiative woot!)

Inquisition: Valor (toss up between this, Conversion, Archon Subdomain, or Restoration subdomain since we don't have a dedicated healer)

Feats:
1: ?
3: Weapon Finesse
5: Dervish Dance
7: ?

Teamwork Feats:
3rd: Precise Strike
6th: Outflank

I'd considered the Monster Lore Feat for even more Identification goodness. Are there better options?

Spells:
1st: Litany of Sloth, Shield of Faith, Divine Favor, Exp Retreat, Bless
2nd: Resist Energy, Weapon of Awe, ?
3rd: Burst of Speed(?), ?

We have a character in the party who can give us morale bonuses which is why I'm hesitant to go with Heroism..though I'm still kind of thinking about it.

Any recommendations would be appreciated!
I'm going to try and get mithril armor. Torn between Mithril Breast Plate and Mithril Chain Shirt (2 AC difference but 4K diff!).
Definitely +2 Gloves of Dex

LOL! If the campaign were a bit different...

Looking at my best case point builds, I'm still not sure between Human and Samsaran

Human:
16 Str (10) Raised to 18 with mod
8 Int (-2)
12 Cn (2)
14 Cha (5)

Samsaran:
17 Str (13)
7 Int (-4) Final 9
7 Wis (-4) Final 9
14 Cn (5) Final 12
14 Cha (5)

So, the human has more skill points (4 per level vs 3 per level)
Extra Feat and higher Strength (19 at level 7, 20 at level 8)

The Samsaran gets to add some broken Paladin spells to the list but is weaker (18 at 7 19 at 8), has 3 skill points per level, and a -1 to Will Saves.

Are those extra spells worth that cost?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Yeah... I didn't realize how good. You should have told me they get the bonus spells like humans did and I'd have been more sold from the start!

Lead Blades is still a 1st level spell for Metal Oracles... I just don't get it until 2nd level (because otherwise I wouldn't get to cast it till later as I can only cast 1st level spells at 2nd level).

Here are some keepers I've found:
Holy Sword
Bestow Grace of the Champion (also 4th)-basically I cast this on myself to grant myself a Smite Evil once, lay on hands on myself once, become immune to fear and disease and add my Cha to my Saves. It's a hella buff for someone who specializes in fighting evil.
Bestow Grace: +Cha to saves 1m/lvl (lvl 2 spell)

I suppose the next question is whether that ability allows you to poach from more than one spell list, or if you have to pick one and stick with it.

Samsaran are looking better now that I read their mystic 'add spells to spell list' thing.

What three spells would be the best to add? Holy Sword, naturally. Bark Skin? What else?

Hmmm... I'll consider the Lame Curse.

Ok, Two-Hander it is!

I'd originally considered going Falchion, but the Crit bonus doesn't seem to compensate for the overall lack of damage.

I've just discovered Angel-Blooded Aasimar (+2 Str & Cha!!!) and Samsara (who can dump Int and Wis to 7 and then back up to 9 thanks to their +2's for 23 points on attribute build).

Now, of the two, I love the extra spells that the Samsara gets for Favored Class... I'm just concerned that a 16 Str won't be enough for a Warrior Oracle.

Thanks for that...good stuff.

What is SoF? Shield of Faith?

Reactionary sounds good... Dangerously Curious also looks good.

Is Metal Oracle the way to go? I like some of the others, but their spell lists don't look as good.

Are there any Archtype changes I should consider? The ones I looked at felt kind of weaksauce.

Since I'm level 7 I'll definitely have a magic weapon and armor.

Sword and Board or Two Hander?

Hey I'm the player of the Oracle in question.

Thanks for all the advice!

Dex is 10.

Hmmm...what traits should I take then?

What would the sorcerer bloodline add that world help a fighter oracle and be worth the feat investment?

Don't worry...I'm all over the Lead Blades! ;-)

I was looking at Divine Favor to offset the mid bab. Is it not going to help?

Also a bit worried about saves...are they too low?

Thanks again for all the help!
