Trinia woke... finding Ashe gone, she stirs hearing the somber tune of his sitar carried on the night's breeze...

She rises and quietly leaves the tent to move close.. her nimble steps making no sound as she listens to his playing from the shadows... her heart touched at his recriminations. For it was nothing less than his self-righteousness that had saved her life and got his companions to take her to the Bishop Keppira to be questioned and the truth of her innocence discovered...

She shuddered to think of what would have befallen her at the queen's hands... especially when she learned of the farce execution Queen Illeosa tried to push off as her own!

But again.. against all reason, against ALL Odds.. her Asherisk had done the foolishly heroic.. and heart-touching courageous thing to not only save the equally innocent Sephira.. but also declare her PERSONAL innocence before all of Korvosa assemble to ... ALL to protect her good name! All at Extreme risk to his life and freedom ... facing down the Queen's guards in her own Castle disguised~ calling himself the Grey Eagle... in mimicry of the well-known vigilante Blackjack!

His courage and righteousness always led him to do the heroic and valiant thing no matter the odds or the risk...

She could not stand by and let him denigrate his deeds without saying something...

And a song came to her as she walked to his side and meeting his eyes ~ she sang for him...

Trinia's expression softens and she leans close to give his a soft peck on the cheek, "It was lovely Ashe... t-thank you. No ones ever wrote a song with me in mind..."

Ashe responded~ his blush deepening, "..I-I could not find a rhyme that using your name 'Trinia' would not sound..er forced or ..trite.. so I just... thought of how you make me feel... it was not a very good song ...too short.. I think."

Trinia smiled, "No it was wonderful... so I'm your Faerie Queen...? I like the sound of that...!", she chuckled teasingly...

Trinia listens her expression one of ...consternation.

"You wrote that, Ashe?"

He smiles, "Yes. yes I did..."

She looks away, gazing at the horizon... her eyes narrowing.

"So, who's this Lucinda?"

Ashe chuckles... and her expression turns cold. She frowns slightly, "What?"

He replies, "It's not a who... its a what. Lucinda is an allegory for Faith..., something I felt we could all use a little of right now... too subtle?"

Trinia gets a somewhat sour look on her face... then she asks, "Are you ever going to write a song for me, Ashe?"

Ashe smiles, "Already have..."

Her expression changes her eyes going wide for a moment, "Really?!?"

Ashe looks to his Sitar still strumming a soothing melody... "...yes."

She waits looking at him... as he continues to tune and play a shifting melody...

"Well? Let's hear it!"

He looks at her his eyes glancing back at the party lowering his voice involuntarily, "...what here? ...Now?"

Trinia smiles somewhat deviously, "Yes, right here.. now."

Trinia grimaces, "..tha's something I DO remember my Ma telling me... 'There are some things You can't change, and there are some things that change You... a Man can be either or both, but Men are ALWAYS one of the two!'. I don't think Ashe sees the need to change from his life goal, that of facing evil wherever he finds it and helping those in need~ unto death if need be... not unless his 'goddess' directs him so. But I thank you, for your assistance in keeping him alive."

Trinia returns a worried gaze to Garridan... and she looks forward to Ashe following the Boneslayer guides on point his celestial shield at his back shining in the early morning sunlight.. his posture, as always, certain~ in Red Hoof's saddle. Majenko moves about restlessly on his armored shoulder trying to find a better perch as the large white plume in Ashe's helmet is being blown at the tiny dragon in the hot crosswinds of the Cinderlands. Ashe takes no note from the jostling dragon enduring it all with stoic determination...

She slows to fall in close to Garridan and whispers, 'That's what I'm afraid of! Ashe is... he tries to be.. so much ...larger than life, he always seems to know what he must do.. he never considers if he should do it at all! He always tries to be the most heroic, the Most self-sacrificing the MOST valiant he can possible be.. for the simple sake he feels Someone should be that kind of Man! His past companions always took his take-on-all-challenges-head-on to be arrogance... its not; its worse than that! Its an absolute fearlessness and inconsideration of the danger or difficulty~ he does not care how dangerous the challenge is.. if he feels it is a just cause that SHOULD be taken on.. than he will do so if it is the HEROIC thing to do! Ashe looks at the World of Golarion and sees a world full of evil, suffering and injustice.. he sees a world in need of a Hero. He does not think he can be that hero.. he does not think he is best suited for being that hero.. he does not think he can succeed at being that hero~ but he believes.. SOME man~ at least ONE GOOD man.. should be willing to try to be that hero... and if no one else.. then HE is going to try to BE that 'True Hero'; even if it kills him to do so... because he feels for mankind to be worthy to exist.. one man has to be willing to make that sacrifice! I'm so afraid.. THAT attitude is going to get him killed, in fact I think that IS his GOAL.. to die protecting others fighting the good fight against Evil, standing against injustice! I don't CARE about the good fight.. I want him alive... and in my arms!'

Her pretty emerald eyes moisten with unshed tears and she visibly composes herself... gripping her horse reins tightly.

She mutters painfully, 'Why can't Ashe let someone ELSE be that HERO? Let someone else be the Martyr for righteousness!'

At Trinia's soft spell song of healing the few nicks and minor cuts close as her curative light wounds spell heals the scrapes in short order

When Ashe releases her they both turn to observe the Boneslayer's arrival. Ashe smiles and nods in acceptance... but Trinia, unseen by Ashe, at his side looks up at his face... the affection in her deep emerald eyes evident.

She slips an arm around his back and briefly cuddles warmly at his side leaning her head upon his shoulder... her soft-hair on his cheek finally catching his attention. His eyes go wide in response as she leans close to give him a quick kiss on the cheek... before releasing him to go back into the yurt.

Ashe turns head to watch her suddenly entranced by her tenderness...

Trinia returns moments latter with a heavy neat bundle of his plate armor, shield and weapons.

Moving around to the front of him ...her eyes.. almost sad, she sets the bundle down and very gently begins to unbuckle the straps of his Armored Coat and removes it. She neatly folds the armor and sets it next to the pile of his armor. With slow loving touches Trinia begins to help Asherick into his plate armor.. her soft touch is sensuously tender... not groping or vulger .. but heartfelt care and tenderness~ a small measure of peace... before the violence of the day to come.

Ashe's frosty blue eyes soften with affection, his cheeks coloring at her gentleness...

Trinia gently touches him lifting his arms to buckle the Corselet of plate about his chest. She continues to tenderly apply each piece of armor touching him softly helping him into the Plate greaves, and metal sollerets, she gently touches his thigh as the greeves are buckled at his waist. Strapping the rarebraces at his shoulder her hand lightly touches his throat as the gorget is put in place. There is nothing sexual in her touch ... but the deep affection and care in her arming and armoring her man for battle is not lost on anyone...

Ashe.. himself is almost moved to tears as she buckles his weapon belts at his waist but a tender touch of her hand on his cheek and her smile forestall it as she hands him his full helm to don.

All-too-soon... for Ashe, he is fully armored in metal, his crimson crusader's cloak at his shoulders and his weapons belts arrayed, celestial shield... with its slowly shift golden tinge as his Vindicator's Shield is restored~ on his arm.. ALL by the hand of the woman he loves.

Trinia says no words... but it is clear her the unspoken message of her deepfelt care has been delivered to her young paladin hero...

She retrieves their steeds and makes ready to travel.

Majenko flutters down to perch on Ashe's armored shoulder...

During the Match a... somewhat disheveled Trinia comes out of their shared tent.. a somewhat worried look on her face... which then blossoms to a full-on expression of sudden fearful concern... at seeing Ashe in a pitched battle with Garridan!

Majenko is perched atop the point of their shared yurt his tail stinger wrapped around the central anchor point lazily wagging; when he noticed the sharp change in her emotions when she exits the tent and he chirps at her trilling a soothing rough-purr that catches her attention.. and she regards him... her expression slowly growing less concerned, clearly in telepathic conversation with the house drake.

She tuns to regard the 'match' with a sour expression... flinching everything Ashe is struck... she seems more overly concerned than seems appropriate for a simple sparring match. But she endures holding her peace until the match ends.

She quickly moves to Ashe's side... giving a somewhat dirty look to Garridan as she regards the bloodied scraps and minor cuts Ashe has suffered while Garridan seems little worse for wear save perhaps a little tired.

Stepping toward Ashe she softly sings a song of healing and touches his chest with her hand as she meets his frosty blue eyes with her own emerald eyes full of devotion.

Ashe is amused as first at her unnecessary extreme concern... then when he sees just how seriously frightened she is and his expression turns perplexed, "..what's wrong.. darling?"

Trinia swallows hard and produces from her belt pouch a deck of Harrow Cards her voice a almost whisper, "...oh Ashe I did a reading this morning... something terrible is going to happen today! Some vast evil.. not of this world... you will face it..."

Ashe gently takes her by the arms and pulls her close his words comforting, "...shhh.. hush milday. I face danger many times not of this world in a week. We are only mortal... in a big multiverse.. have courage.. IOMEDAE will provide guidance and protection!"

He kisses her forehead and she leans in to touch her forehead to his chest, "...n-not like this... please be careful, you will need all your strength!"

His expression turns somber and he wraps his arms around her to hold her tenderly close, "..always milady..always!"

Ashe's words receive a sternly disapproving glare from Trinia at his side... clearly she is NOT in agreement with his 'volunteering'... and is going to have words with him on the matter...!

Speaking up, "Uhm, Thousand Bones just what exactly is this 'Cindermaw-Clan Eater'?"

Trinia is clearly frightened by the powerful, disturbingly named Shaonti warrior, Krogan Eats-What-He-Kills and slowly stands behind Ashe, though not obvious she is prepared to unleash subduing magic if the warrior turns violent. She locks her pretty emerald green eyes upon his eyes ready to act if needed.

Trinia follows Ashe~ at first, a safe distance. Then when Ashe engages the large beast in its own gravelly language she approaches to stand behind Ashe marveling at Ashe's fluency when the beast answers back.

Linguistic: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Trinia has just enough familiarity to recognize the language as Draconic but it is not a language she speaks. She reaches up to scratch Majenko between the wings... eliciting a series of chirps of pleasure from the tiny dragon... and gaining his attention...

Thinking at Majenko, {Friend Majenko... what is Ashe saying to the dragon-lion beast?}

A few moments later... Majenko telepathically replies for any close to hear, {Ashe has offered to restore Wicked-Claws wings so he can fly again!}

Trinia smiles and leans against Ashe's back, "oh Ashe~ that's very sweet of you to offer... I'm glad your not holding a grudge..."

She shrugs, "I can basically keep that running all the time recasting as needed..."

Trinia nods in firm agreement, and turns to Ashe, "...THAT IS something I can agree with Akina on~ Mister Hero... you do try to take on too much at once! Ashe, you don't and Cannot carry the weight of the world on your shoulders... it's too big for any mortal on their own!"

She steps close to Ashe a look of 'fond' annoyance on her features as she reaches up to lift his battered-looking helmet from his brow... instantly ending his disguise. The battered helm changing appearance in her hands to the shining winged, griffin crested helm so familiar to those who know Ashe; letting his shock white hair is let fly loose in reaction. the disguise now gone~ revealing Ashe is wearing a brilliant red cloak with the golden emblem of IOMEDAE's winged sword pointing skyward center back. On his arm he bears a gold-edged, blue steel, impossibly light~ heavy shield with the emblem engraved into its surface of a great mountain with seven rings or halos about it the highest one enshrouded in clouds.. the second halo from the mountain's base being inlaid with gold.. and a small golden inlaid emblem of IOMEDAE's shining sword in the 'dexter' shoulder corner of the shield's surface. Glowing brightly or perhaps catching the sun's rays magically is a simple golden band-ring upon his right hand engraved with the symbol of IOMEDAE as well.

Speaking again as she caresses his cheek with her hand, "Ashe, you gird yourself with all these implements of your goddess' grace.. and you forget that there is only a man bearing them! Remember the Oath of IOMEDAE's Paladins...
'I will guard the honor of my fellows, both in thought and deed, and I will have faith in them.'? You must allow others to add their skills and abilities to the cause and Trust them to not falter as well.. JUST as they trust YOU will never abandon or fail them!"

I will only sacrifice art if doing so allows me to save a life, for untold beauty can arise from an awakened soul.' Ashe there are few mortals with the purity of heart to become paladins... YOU are a work of art but all that selfless dedication is at a loss if you destroy ..YOURSELF! Honestly now, do you believe in your exhausted state... with, as you told them, most of your divine powers exhausted for the day.. that Even IF the Red Mantis had followed and attacked you would have been more useful or less if you had rested before? Admit it.. you were being heroically~ Stubborn, a fine sentiment, in its place, but unnecessary.. and YOU know it!"

Trinia gets a clear angry look on her face and retorts at Garridan, "..where the heck did you EVER hear Ashe say he was better than anyone because he was a paladin?!?! Did ANY of you even bother to ask Ashe why he choose not to rest or Why he decided to do anything he has done? Were you even listening to what he said..cause you seem to have heard something I did not?"

"Ashe said, and I quote, '...it seems my attempts to explain my actions and the reasons I have done what I have done have not been sufficient or accepted.. so I will not belabor on as clearly you have decided not to accept those reasons.' But did you ask, 'Well what did you mean by your explanations?' or even, 'When did you explain something?'... no you go off on some tangent that he never even implied in anything he said! I believe Ashe was answering Akina's accusation that he was squandering his divine gifts, not even speaking to you. He relented and did say, 'It seems the majority of the party is decidedly unsatisfied with my way of doing things. Very well I will stand aside.. choose from among yourselves who you wish to lead you or not... I'll follow their directives or the majority as much as I can without further debate.' Thinking, {The Legend of Blackjack must reach far indeed.. especially since he was last seen some 20 or so years ago! I'll have to remember that...!}

Shrugging she gave up trying to seem someone else other than the famous Legendary Hero.. taking efforts only to hide her gender and features from observers. After all.. the Red Mantis is seeking Asherick, Vencarlo, Neolandis and perhaps herself, Trinia.. NOT the Legendary Hero Blackjack... as no one knows who Blackjack is but ALL know him as a Man and again.. he hasn't been seen in almost 20 years.

She makes a mental note to be more careful how she uses the legacy of the hero of the people... her debut as the New 'Female' Blackjack must bring honor to his Legend.

Trinia stays as much in the shadows as possible keeping near Ashe and Edmund. once inside the Temple/Bank of ABADAR... she will switch into Blackjack's Armor and Cloak of Elvenkind to complete the outfit and take more focused efforts to hide her features and gender. Ah... ok.. That makes it a bit more reasonable! Looks like they removed the fort save for half damage as well. Also they changed the damage to purely sonic... so.. it does not count as a weapon doing B/P/S damage ...nor is is subject to DR; but that also means Arcane Strike will no longer function with it ..as it is purely a elemental energy attack. Though Inspire Courage will still work with it as it requires an attack roll and is not a spell. Interesting. Fine... I'll go with that new errata and use the Trinia - Bard "Sound Striker" build.

I'm currently comparing the Arcane Duelist build to a 'clean' non-Archetype Bard Build.

TACTICS
During Combat: Trinia activates her inspire courage bardic music ability on the first round of combat, then spends the next 4 rounds casting spells (charm monster on the biggest opponent to take them out of the fight, haste otherwise, followed by glitterdust, hideous laughter, and suggestion) and reactivating her inspire courage every few rounds if the combat lasts that long.
