I think we should just all state in OOC who we want to back and then just go with whatever the majority of votes are by the end of the weekend. Personally I want to back Dante as he seems more competent and it doesn't really matter to us if he seizes power after we save the planet since our mission atm is just to save the planet and nothing else.

Trien had sat quietly for the majority of the meeting, preferring to listen to the others discussing. After taking quite a few moments to mull over General Dante's points he cleared his throat, bringing attention to himself again. Whilst I feel that supporting the rebellious citizens that ignore the evacuation call, and make no mistake their acts of putting their village before the planet is insubordination at best and outright rebellion at worst, you Dante will have the best feel for your troops. Trien spent a second adjusting his mask and his new sword, which hung awkwardly on him, he would need to adjust the strap. The troops losing Moral is the worst thing that could happen, and if you feel that your outriders can handle the task and would increase the moral of the troops, then I fully support you. This is Trien indicating that he would be in favour of having General Dante put in charge during the invasion

Trien finished the last bit of meat on the plate in front of him and nodded to one of the serving staff. They quickly shot out the door, obviously feeling embarrassed that they had let it get so empty in the first place. Trien wiped the remaining flecks of blood off his mask and cleared his throat to talk. I think....we have a duty to the people of Damaris. That duty is to save it from the orks. This should occupy all of our resources and attention. We have warned the civilians, it is their choice to remain and they will know the consequences. This is a brave deed on their part, defending one's home in the face of certain death takes much courage. However...just because one is courageous does not mean we should support their stupidity, even if we send outriders to help it might encourage more people to stay, thinking they will stand a chance against the invasion. No I say spend all our resources on defending the city, because if that falls then all is lost anyway.

Trien glanced down at the sword strapped to his waist for the hundredth time, he had been hard pressed to put it away at all. When he had put in the request for "something to hit the enemy with" he was expecting some type of club if anything at all, especially with the amount of resources being funded into the defence. This however, this was a piece of artistry. The huge sword would be unwieldy to defend with, but for attacking there would not be much better especially with the upgraded mono field. He nodded to Ioneyse, hoping that this would adequately purvey his gratitude, he had never been good at thanks you's not that he'd had much of a chance to use them throughout his life. The sight of Lord-Captain Silas drinking alcohol already, so soon after the party, made his stomach churn. He definitely would not be consuming any alcohol for a while yet after his drinking contest.

By the sounds of it we're not doing a proper space battle. It's very much like "this is how strong our force is, this is how strong their force is, roll to work out how much each side loses" so more like CIV fight than total war fight. And Alex, yes I'm going to be using Forbidden Lore: Navigators, Warp to try and lead a bunch of orks into the warp and ditch them in a warpstorm or the like

Trien pushes his mask up slightly, it was uncomfortable at the best of times and now with the tension and the musky room sweat was dripping down his nose and mixing with the raw skin where the mask came into contact with his face. He glared around the table and pointed an accusing finger at Varius [b] I do not contest your logic, however logic applied without adequate knowledge is worse than useless. The units in the levy bunkers would be extremely mobile and as such would not be swept out of their positions, and in fact would hamper the approaching enemy considerably. I would suggest that we put MORE units into this area, as it would reduce the pressure upon all sections of our defence. Just to clarify (although I'm sure everyone is aware), I'm just arguing in character :), I just like the idea of the large amount of tension in our group in a high pressure situation and our RT is gone (for the moment at least) and our characters are not sure if he's coming back. Also, I'm going to roll my first acquisition now. I'm going for a best mono greatsword, rolling under 22 (+0 scarce, +30 negligible, craftmasnship best -30 and then 8 higher PF due to our seneschals rolls, then -5 because of getting mono + greatsword as combined acquisition). I'm thinking I might throw my weight in on the space side. I think it would be good if maybe we agreed beforehand where we were each going to help out, since we don't all want to end up doing the same thing.

Trien nods at Iago I think whilst the fight on the ground will be very important, I think we don't want to rush over the space battle. After all the more Orkish ships we can destroy, the weaker their invasion will be. Trien looks around at the gathered members I think whilst the forge is very important, we must be wary not to commit too hard there. Keeping the forge up is extremely helpful for the city defence, but if we have our forces too weak on the city walls due to overcommiting to the forge then we somewhat defeat the point of holding the forge in the first place. Trien spends a few moment surveying the map I am not a military tactician, far from it, however it strikes me that if we can have a significant force situated in the levies, we can weaken the attacks on all points across the walls, thereby making even lightly defended locations easier to hold. I suggest we commit the storm troopers and gelt guns to the levies, and perhaps a unit of Skitarii as well. I would also consider placing more troops in the levies but I am concious of manning our walls too lightly and would like other peoples opinions on the matter. Trien is also going to try and get a map of the space around the planet if possible

Trien nods at Iago's instructions. "I will speak to the other navigators, see what they know. In terms of the space battle, I can think of an additional tactic. If we could hide the bulk of our fleet somewhere, we could wait until the majority of the orkish fleet passes us then engage from behind. Since they are far more armoured on the front this would case us to deal maximum damage. Trien took a second to think, then added This would however mean that more orks would more likely land, but we have to put the Mustered Armsmen to work somehow. We could place them Levy bunkers to slow down the advance as much as possible.

As Trien stood staring out to the fields, he felt his stomach grumble. His hand shot into his leather pouch on his side and came out empty, he needed to head back to get more meat soon or the guards would start to look tasty. He turned to his escort I think I have seen enough, these men that were being trained, have any of them seen much combat before? They seem to be doing a lot of training but even training can break down in the face of a charging orcish horde. I know it's a pretty simple question but I'll put an inquiry roll to go along with it to see if I can get any additional information out of him Inquiry roll:

After the socialising dies down, Trien decides it's time to get something useful done. After seeing a small group of his crew leave with Reynolds, presumably to talk something military, he thought he could at least try his best to contribute to the effort, after all it was his skin on the line if they failed. He tried to think of a good course of action to follow I'll give the logic test a whirl, under half int which is 22, +10 = 32. 1d100 ⇒ 69 Triens head was still spinning slightly from his drinking contest and no action was immediately forthcoming, so he decided to appropriate some transport and a tour of what war machines they might have on the planets surface. He approached one of the waiters who was walking back to the kitchens with an empty plate. He cleared his throat and tried to say in his least raspy voice as possible. "erm excuse me..err..man...yes. I require transport immediately, please can you take me to your..erm...cannons?

I think it might be better to try and appeal to him a bit more. Maybe try and appeal to his professional side, that we need to work together regardless of our thoughts of each other. Trien looks at everyone moving across the dance floor, their limbs making awkward shifting movements. After a few moments he thought he recognised the motion as dancing. As his eyes tracked a few people, he thought he could follow a pattern. The urge to join the social interaction was driving him towards the dance floor, he thought that this was probably a result of the large quantity of alcohol he had drunk during his contest with the marshall, but at the moment he couldn't bring himself to care about it. He was going to try this..dancing...it couldn't be too hard surely? Bring on the dance moves, Trien is in the building. I think an Agi test should suffice? Trien looked back and forth between General Dante and Silas. From what he could discern about the situation, he thought that perhaps General Dante was unhappy about something, but he couldn't quite be sure. He eventually decided that he had been quite lucky with the marshall and that he shouldn't push his luck any more at the moment. He sat back in his chair and stared off into the middle distance. His mask's eyeless stare scrutinized the guests without his input. He saw people shift in their chairs uncomfortably as they thought he might be staring at them. He smiled slightly and took another drink.

Trien hung his head in dismay as the final group departed from his company. He'd made no progress, in fact he was pretty sure if anything he'd made things slightly worse. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed the Marshal heading directly towards him. He knew that she would have some influence, if not directly then at least she might know someone that would. He decided to improve his odds, he looked to the future. Trien is going to use foreshadowing at a +10 because he is specialised in it, perception test 1d100 ⇒ 33 to pass he needed per + 10 = 47 so he passes. Trien concentrates on his third eye, and uses it not to look directly at the warp, but to look through it, he suddenly gets a strange feeling. It is almost like he has a word on the tip of his tongue. He looks towards the Marshall and suddenly knows exactly what to do. Trien is going to use all 3 of his secrets on a Carouse test to get her drunk and more friendly. Secret 1: +10
Ok so the final Carouse test is a 53 to pass (half skill = 23 + 30) 1d100 ⇒ 41 pass with 1 degree of success As the Marshall reaches him, she opens up with Well, I dare say your about as loveable as one of my cyber hounds. I've seen people flee slower from an oncoming Rhino APC. What's behind the mask then? You get your costume mixed up or are you just too darn pretty for the world to see? Trien looks at her for half a second, and then without looking grabs a bottle of a strong caramel liquor from a passing waiter. Marshall, if you're going to discuss what hides behind my mask, you're going to need a lot more alcohol in you. He flashed her slightly too white smile, she would just be able to see the gleam of his teeth through the slit.

Trien's back itched furiously. The skin had knitted back together moments after his purification, however the uncomfortable itching sensation persisted long after. He awkwardly scratched his back in the guise of adjusting his ornate robe. As a Navigator he was used to wearing fine clothing, however even these robes seemed ostentatious by comparison. Then again, he thought, that was point of being in this ball, to impress the other guests present. He should probably do something to help rather than just stand around again. This situation was not his forte, not by a long shot, but it would almost be worse having a shadowy figure stand at the edge and stare at people all night. He let out a sigh and picked out the friendliest looking group. He knew the theory, he'd seen various people do it over the years, it couldn't be that hard surely... Charm test! From the looks of it, General Dante is stubborn as hell and wants to play it exactly by the books. Maybe we could try flattering him and giving him an "important role" in the events (with only a few small ships to do hit and runs).

Trien sat on his bed looking around at his quaters, they were lush and beautiful, every piece was a work of art, every window a finely crafted work, every wall covered in paintings. He hated it, down to the awful carpets. Luxury was not for him, whilst he had to get used to a certain amount being a navigator, the especially lush places always felt wrong to him. He had lived in the sewer system of a space ship for several years of his life time, completely pitch black and often not even able to move his arms more than a few inches, someone having this much space to themselves just felt WRONG. He felt his mask rubbing more intensely than usual. He had been told that there were hundreds of things you could put between the wooden mask and his face that would ease the comfort, he had been told that it would make it feel as if he were wearing nothing than his own skin...they missed the point. He wanted to feel the mask, it was a reminder of his nature, part of his punishment, a small way to make him remember he past deeds, he would never forget. He shuddered, he had felt impure thoughts earlier, but he had stupidly left his "purifying" equipment on board the ship, and he needed purification, the thought of leaving the room again as he was made him feel physically ill. He looked around the room, there was a large metal staff in the corner, it was covered in spikes and serrated edges, it would have to do. He stripped off and got to work. I'm hoping people don't take the last sentence the wrong way...

Trien looked at the tray of pipes that were passed to him, he realised after a few seconds that Kapak was waiting for a response, he looked up at said slightly too loudly "No...". He got given a fairly strange look before the tray was put down after everyone had either accepted or declined. He didn't know what was in the pipe but honestly he didn't much care for narcotics, he had enough to worry about without throwing disorientation into the mix. He calmly sat and waiting for the conversation to proceed, staring at Kapak unblinkingly for quite a while, waiting for him to start the conversation.

Trien smirked slightly at the rogue traders reaction to him, he had seen that face a hundred times before, a man of noble birth who saw everyone who didn't have 50 generations of wealth to their name as beneath them. He thought about taking off his mask, he would get a sadistic pleasure at seeing the mans face twist in revulsion as he gazed upon his pale veiny form. But no, it was just an urge and it would pass. He inspected the servants that brought them the chairs to sit on, they looked fairly well fed. That was good, he could not stand people that mistreated their workers, not that it would have made much difference, he'd have had to work with them regardless, he would have just hated them more while he did it. He took his seat and inspected the people around him, listening to the argument while making no comment. He didn't know much about the types of war they were talking about, he felt that it would probably be best to concentrate all their forces but he had little experience with orks and almost none with repelling an invasion force. He looked around the table, and wracked his brain for anything he could remember of their names. Trien looks around at the gathered group, most are red in the face and are clearly divided into groups. Even if he hadn't heard the shouting from outside this would have obviously been an argument. He slowly looked around, making sure to meet as many eyes as possible, then he slowly said, "Is this really becoming of men of your station?" He left it there, and stood to the side of Silas. Clearly there was going to be a lot of work ahead, and he wasn't the right man for it at the moment.

Trien stood outside the chamber next to the nervous looking Jorun. Being near raging arguments wasn't something new to him, he did however try to avoid entering mid-argument whenever possible. This didn't look to be one of those times so instead he took a deep breath and got ready to enter the fray.

Going to retcon a bit here then bring it up to speed Trien sat on his throne with his arms out in front of him feeling the tide of the warp wash over him. As they were nearing the end of their voyage he started to raise his arms above head high, the pilot noticed this and got ready on the warp engines. Trien then dropped his arms and gasped "Now!" and the pilot slammed the button to turn on the warp engines. Apparently to normal people, there was an obvious sensation when you dropped out of warp into real space, as if reality had suddenly asserted itself once again. To him it was a much more obvious change. Being immersed so deeply in the warp, to him it felt as if his conciousness had been forcibly ripped out of his mind and then plunged back in. He swayed for a few seconds, and then closed his eyes feeling the dizzyness wash over him. He heard the rest of his crew talking in the background, the mention of the metal moon piqued his interested, but he firmly shut his mouth before he could ask any questions. He hadn't given the crew time to get used to him yet, he had found out the hard way several times about what happened when the mutant tried to be too friendly too early. He transferred the rest of the meat on his plate to the pouch he always carried on his right hand side. It was a tan unassuming leather pouch, which he used to make sure he always had some kind of meat on him. He used to try and survive outside the ship without eating, however he was once stranded out with another crew member for several days. He told his captain that the man had been shot on the way back...his mouth watering betrayed the true cause however. He mentally slapped himself, that thought had just earned himself another half an hour of punishment later on. The feeling of disgust slowly trickled through him, he was glad he wore his mask so he could hide his face from the world, he wondered what would happen if everyone else was revolted by him as he was by himself, he probably wouldn't be alive to think about it. After sitting there and moping for a while, he watched as the ship drifted towards Damaris, and then heard the call to get to the shuttle. He dragged himself out of his throne and headed towards the shuttle. Wandering through the ships corridors always cheered him up a bit however, he enjoyed exploring and trying to find any secret hidey holes. It was a bit undignified to try and squeeze into them however, he had unfortunately found out previously, but it gave him a sense of enjoyment to atleast know where they were. He arrived at the shuttle with the rest of the crew, all piling into the slightly-too small seats and scooting down to the planet. The pilot was good and got them there in good time. He was jostled through the introductions with everyone else, and he didn't keep from noticing that everyone he met seemed to look around him rather than at him. After settling into the groundcar, he listened to Jorun and decided to ask a question, "Jorun, does anyone in charge of the defence here have much experience with Orcs?"
