Male Dwarf Cleric 1 | AC 14/16 w/shield, Touch 10, FF 14/16 w/shield | HP 9/9 | Fort +4, Ref +1, Will +7 | Init +4 | Perception +4

Rats and Goblins, the two most hated nuisances in Janderhoff and right now one of them was grinning at Travok. The wide smile seemed like taunt to Travok and he couldn't resist giving one last shot at knocking its teeth out.

Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

It looks like Baldric ended it before me but I'll take my chances!

Male Dwarf Cleric 1 | AC 14/16 w/shield, Touch 10, FF 14/16 w/shield | HP 9/9 | Fort +4, Ref +1, Will +7 | Init +4 | Perception +4

Everything seemed chaotic to Travok, he couldn't remember ever being in a fight inside a crowd before. Zwain's shouting and Vikh's singing just added to it and he fought the urge to join in on the wild rage. The goblin had rushed him quicker than he anticipated and he was left without a weapon. With a face full of Goblin he decided the best thing to do was to make do with what he had, at least he had his shield. He clenched his gauntleted fist and tried to give the Goblin a face full of dwarf to return the favor. By Torag he hated Goblins.

Attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1

Male Dwarf Cleric 1 | AC 14/16 w/shield, Touch 10, FF 14/16 w/shield | HP 9/9 | Fort +4, Ref +1, Will +7 | Init +4 | Perception +4

Travok turns to Zwain and mumbles, "You know, I think it's been at least a decade since I even saw a Goblin last but I just remembered why I hate them so much...Come on! Someone has to get between the townsfolk and the goblins!"

He rushes closer to the crowd while drawing his shield to get ready for close combat and shouts out "Move into the church! Hurry now before they get a hold of you! Get behind me! Run to the church!" He felt it was unlikely that the crowd would hear him in the chaos, but if only he could get a few to do as he suggested, perhaps more would follow.

Move action to draw shield, Move to U18

It seemed a shame to Travok that such beautiful creatures should burn because of the vile actions of these wicked goblins. He took a quick survey of the cage and simply willed the water to stop, and Torag made it so, or at least attempted to.

Cast Create Water over the burning cage or in an area around it

Goblins! At a festival! Travok wanted to run with the crowd, it was difficult to do the opposite of so many. He pushed through the storming sea of people and moved to the edge of the stage where he fired off a bolt at the closest Goblin.

Single Move through difficult terrain to U20. Ranged Attack targetting T21.

Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6

Travok was very occupied studying a loose stone in the cobbled ground when everything happened at once. His immediate surroundings exploded into action and suddenly he found himself in a sea of tall humans all running everywhere. He couldn't see much, but he did see that while everyone seemed to be running away from what had to have been an explosion of some kind, the people he had been standing with stood still, readied weapons or starting doing magic. "In Torag's name what's going on! I cannae see!"

The sudden action seemed to change his voice a little, the harsh dwarven dialect shone through much clearer now.

Travok holds position, readies crossbow and tries to get a sense of what is going on.

That just sounds incredibly helpful! How does it work and where can I find it? I'm new to this site and need all the help I can get with the interface.

Male Dwarf Cleric 1 | AC 14/16 w/shield, Touch 10, FF 14/16 w/shield | HP 9/9 | Fort +4, Ref +1, Will +7 | Init +4 | Perception +4

"They'll be fine as far as me being here! If you're concerned about their line of sight then sit down!"

The positioning looks good to me. Although the file name does not bode well...

In response to Baldric, Travok says "Now that is a great idea. I've been up here for hours already and I think I found quite the spot to view it all from. Right over here!" The small dwarf leads the group of humans towards the middle of the square but towards the front of the group starting to assemble. "If you'd like to stand further back that's all right by me, but y'll understand I have to stand here or I won't be able to see a thing."

1) How familiar with RotRL are you? Played it or DM'd it before, read it?

Not at all familiar with it. I only read the Player's Guide so story-wise I have no idea what I am in for.

2) How familiar with Sandpoint are you?

Since I didn't know anything about the adventure path I wanted to stay away from spoilering myself. This is why I kept to the player's guide, so I am actually limited in my knowledge to the cursory introduction it gave. I am also not too familiar with Golarion as a setting but I am reading a little bit each day to get the broad scope of it down to memory.

3) What do I need to know about your character?

When I started to answer this question I realized that I have somehow deleted Travoks background from his profile! I apologize for this and I'll attempt to have it back up by tomorrow. It's nothing spectacular. In short Travok is a scholar belonging to a clan that for generations has specialized in protecting trade going in and out of Janderhoff. The Shortstrider clan is known for producing dwarves with wanderlust and a craving for knowledge.

Also, his mwk Armored Coat was crafted by himself which is why I could afford it at all.

4) What were you original creation guide lines, I am not going to ask you to change them...just want to know for power balance.

Already answered.

5) How much experience as a gamer do you have with Pathfinder? Howl much have you had with PBP? Just so I know and don't assume.

I played pathfinder with my tabletop group since it came out, but we've limited ourselves to the core rulebook, advanced player's guide and ultimate combat. We felt that anything on top of this just was unnecessary so I am not familiar with anything else but I am willing to learn. I had my first experience with gaming in general with my cousin's copy of D&D 3.5 back in 2003 and I've been playing and DMing ever since.

Played PBPs for years and my longest running game has gone on for 5 years until I quit 2 years ago. We ran it on RPOL and in another language than English so I can clearly see some of the other players here outshining my roleplaying abilities but I am a quick learner and I am determined to catch up. I've had a 2 year hiatus from almost all gaming due to my studies taking most of my time. Doing a masters and a bachelors at the same took all of my energy but I -need- some RPG in my life now so you can rest assured that I won't quit this.

6) What do you want most as a player out of this campaign? What do you want most as a character? I primarily want a chance to have some fun roleplay, some serious roleplay and most of all some -good- roleplay. Travok has a need to learn new things that he can write down in his own little "The Life and Limb of Travok Shortstrider: The Last Few Centuries."

7) Is there anything you want to know about me?

I'd like to know what you expect of us. What you want to and what you don't want to see us do.

Another one of the players here! MythrilDragon looks fantastic, looking forward to getting started up again after the pause. Surprised at the amount of interest in religion among us. I'm currently doing a bachelor's degree in religion myself, no seminary for me however.

I'm sorry if my absence scared you, I was going to check back in on Thursday. This looks like a great idea, good work to whoever managed it. I am definitely on board.

Male Dwarf Cleric 1 | AC 14/16 w/shield, Touch 10, FF 14/16 w/shield | HP 9/9 | Fort +4, Ref +1, Will +7 | Init +4 | Perception +4

I have no problems with that Vikh. Actually, since not everyone is going to continue until he shows signs of life I'll hang back too. I don't want to create 4 pages of stuff for the DM to read when he comes back. Might put him off continuing.

"Oh no I am no mason, but I do know quite a bit about it of course, masonry I mean. Any Dwarf worth his gravel does. Armorsmithing is my trade." Travok reaches his hand up and shakes Baldric's with a wide smile on his face. "I'm Travok. Travok of the Shortstrider clan. I'm here for the opening of the cathedral. I've quite the interest in the religious and this multi-deity thing they are doing here is very interesting. I suspect it'l catch on right quick out here in human lands." His speech is slow but not un-intelligent so, as if he weighs the taste of each word as it leaves his mouth.

"The Heidmarch Lodge? I've read as many of the works from there as I've been able to come across. You Pathfinders do fine, fine work miss Unwin. Are you here on their behalf?

Male Dwarf Cleric 1 | AC 14/16 w/shield, Touch 10, FF 14/16 w/shield | HP 9/9 | Fort +4, Ref +1, Will +7 | Init +4 | Perception +4

I like Baldric's suggestion of just continuing talking in between us for a while so I went ahead and posted some more interactions if you guys are interested in continuing also. Worst case scenario we get to build our characters a bit more!

After watching other people eat pies for far too long, Travok felt it was time to move on. He also felt a little bit disgusted. You can only watch people gorge themselves on food for so long before you realize how debauched it all seems, he thought to himself. He wandered around for a while longer before spotting a group of curious-looking humans inspecting the cathedral. The butterfly-event should only be moments away so he decided to pass the time with some small-talk.

He approached the small group composed of two humans and a half-elf he realized as he got closer, inspecting the memorial plaque. "It's a thing of beauty ain't it? Stone hauled for miles and miles, placed with flawless care and attention to detail. I'd give a wager this thing will survive a dozen fires, maybe an earthquake or two. It's no match for the wonders of Janderhoff mind you, but after seeing this I'd say you humans are learning a thing or two about stonework after all. I'm looking forward to coming back in a few hundred years, have a look at it then and see just how well it's kept up with time." He approached the wall as he spoke, running a hand along its surface to underline his points.

Let's not move too fast here. He did just post on Thursday that he enjoyed your interactions and I had the impression he just wanted to let you guys continue doing more of it. Lets give it over the weekend before you hijack his game?

Hello! I am definitely still here! But my town was hit by a storm this week and I've been busy doing clean up work and house repairs and I enjoyed reading your interactions too much. There was no point for me to break in seamlessly so I kept Travok in the background with his pies. I'll work him into a more talkable position after the butterflies are released and action starts going, so a plot-post from the DM would be needed.

I live in a GMT+1 timezone, so I may be a little bit off from your posting times, but it usually isn't a problem. And yes, I am very new to these forums, this being the first game I am participating in here actually. I am a veteran on the Giantitp forums and rpol.net so I am not new to pbp-ing in general. If you want to see some of the stuff I have participated in earlier check out this game http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?135905-The-Heir-of-Karmark-IC . It's old as dust now but I like to think I've only improved since then. My posts are as Mathis and I am introduced on page 10. Really enjoying your interactions so far though, inspirational stuff.

With almost no coin to his name, Travok decided to not take part in any of the games himself. He was eager to watch however, and wandered over to the pie eating contest. On the way over he walked slowly, hands behind his back and observed the spectacle of life. Humans were so wonderfully alive. The dwarf stood quietly observing, with the occasional mumble escaping him, "Mhmm, wonderful. Marvellous!Ohoho, impressive!"

He seemed quite content just watching the events, studying them almost.

Male Dwarf Cleric 1 | AC 14/16 w/shield, Touch 10, FF 14/16 w/shield | HP 9/9 | Fort +4, Ref +1, Will +7 | Init +4 | Perception +4

Travok had been seated in front of the cathedral for hours already when the beautiful mayor began her speech. He had been up with the sun, eager to take in the sights of the city on this historical day. The opening of a brand new cathedral always sent the good kind of shivers down Travok's back. This was his third, but the first of his own choosing. The dwarf looked more like a haggard warrior than a priest. With a red mohawk and a beard braided into a single intricate braid, dressed in an armored coat of obvious dwarven make. By the looks of it the coat was a few decades old by now and had a few scratches. Likewise was his warhammer and crossbow aged and battered things. He carries a holy symbol to Torag wrapped around the wrist of his massive right hand.

He sat in silence throughout the speeches, but chuckled heartily at the dwarven song that Zwain butchered wonderfully. As the town erupted into a circus of games and merriment Travok spent his time inspecting the cathedral. Taking walks around it, inspecting the masonry up close, touching it, smelling it just like any good dwarf would do. He committed every detail to memory since he couldn't write it down. He cursed himself for forgetting his journal back home in Janderhoff.

I'm no fan of PvP either, would like to limit that as much as possible. Posting rates like that sound fine to me.

On loot it sounds like you guys have the same opinions as me there too. Money should be split as equally as possible, and magic items given to the one who can use it the best. The stronger your fellow characters are, the stronger your party is as a whole and the stronger you are.

Male Dwarf Cleric 1 | AC 14/16 w/shield, Touch 10, FF 14/16 w/shield | HP 9/9 | Fort +4, Ref +1, Will +7 | Init +4 | Perception +4

Hello everyone! This is looking like an interesting group at first impressions. I'll have a look at everyone to know who you are, and then having a once over of my own stats to make sure it's all correct and updated as needed. Looking forward to getting started.

This looks like a great chance to get back into some Pathfinder gaming!
I'll be applying with Travok Shortstrider, a dwarf cleric of Torgan. If two clerics are too much for the party, I do not mind changing the class of Torgan to Ranger or Barbarian or something a bit more outdoorsy to fit the party.

1. What will your character contribute to the party in combat?
Travok will bring Dwarven resilience and ferocity a long with his god-given ability to cast spells that he can support his allies with. He is not afraid to wade into the deep end of a battle but prefers to provide guidance and support.

2. What will your character contribute to the party out of combat?
A quick wit, Dwarven wisdom, Dwarven cooking, decades of accumulated knowledge in a variety of useful fields and languages, and did I mention Dwarven wisdom?

3. What is your character's origin story? This doesn't need to be long - I'd just like to get a sense of your character's motivations and background.
Travok comes from Janderhoff where he is a young member of the Shortstrider Clan. So called because they are a clan of Dwarves who are dedicated to protecting the trade that goes in and out of Janderhoff and because of this causes them to travel quite a bit, long distances for dwarves but short distances for anyone else. He is a dedicated member of the priesthood of Torgan, the Dwarven creator god and uses his skills to heal and provide historical commentary for his companions.

He loves to travel and seeks out settlements of all kinds to learn their history and how they worship. He has spent decades learning the history of Varisia and is now trying to experience it for himself. He is adventurous and ambitious. He has hopes to one day become the patriarch of the Shortstrider clan and lead them out of Janderhoff to found a Dwarven settlement modeled on the bustling metropolises found outside the mountains.

4. What ideas do you have for keeping this PbP alive (if any)?
It's my experience that the initial momentum of a PbP can quickly disappear if posting rates drop below once or twice every two to three days. If a game can't keep up at least 1 post every two to three days it will quickly die. To me the ideal is 1 post a day but I agree with others who have said that the very minimum should be 1 post a week. I would suggest that the DM can take simple actions for a character if the player has not posted within 24 hours. Examples would be, guiding a character through a doorway, sitting down at a table to eat, joining a group walking towards something.

Keeping as much of the game outside as possible is also a good idea. Sometimes you simply have to go inside, but once the game goes inside you often get bound down by a lot of:
Day 1. You see a door.
Day 2. We open the door.
Day 3. Two more doors.
Day 5. We stack up tactically in front of door number 1.
Day 7. Another character suggests listening at the door before opening it.
