The blast vest is +1 energy, so I believe that brings my Resist roll to 9. Incapacitated it is.

Toral cries out as the Gungan's shot impacts his chest, burning through his vest and into the flesh beneath. A rainbow of colors flashes through his vision; he only just realizes he's falling to the ground before he loses consciousness entirely.

Let's see how long I'm out!: 10d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 4, 1, 2, 5, 4, 6, 4, 4) = 37

Thirty-seven minutes it is. Great showing in my first fight, I must say. :P

Resist: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 6) = 8 Is this against the 18 damage I took, or 21? If the former, I think I'm just incapacitated; if the latter, I think I'm dying. Oh and do I add the dice from my blast vest or no?

Toral smirks when he sees his first target go down. "Now that's what I'm talkin' about." He flinches when the Gungan's shot impacts heavily on the cover in front of him, but quickly turns his blaster pistol and fires a shot in response.

Blaster: 4d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 4) + 1 = 12
Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 3, 5) = 16

Toral darts to his left, taking cover before raising his now-freed blaster and taking a shot at one of the battle droids.

So -1D to the shot since that's two actions, right?

Blaster w/ Wild Die: 3d6 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 6) + 1 + (1) = 19
Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 6, 6) = 21

I do not think you need a check to draw the weapon (at least we have not had to yet, not strenuous enough), you just have to sacrifice the D to doing more than one action in the round. I suffered a second lost D since I fired twice, I normally have a 6D blaster shot...

I thought you had to in order to draw from a hidden holster. I forgot to switch one to a regular holster before getting going with introductions and combat. Maybe not though? I'm learning as I go.

Toral's eyes widen in surprise as he draws his own blaster and fires at one of the droids.

So it's an action to draw and -1d6 for each consecutive action, right?

Draw weapon from hidden holster (Dex): 3d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 1, 2) + 1 = 5 Oof.
Let's try again!: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 5) + 1 = 8

Blaster: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 6) + 1 = 9
Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 6, 4) = 18

Off to a great start!

Toral's eyes fill with bewilderment when the Duros approaches him, but it is quickly replaced with recognition. "If I'd known I'd find you here I would never have gotten within three sectors of this place!" he retorts with a hearty laugh. He takes Sl'P's outstretched hand and shakes it firmly. "Good to see you, Sl'P. Should've known I'd find you in the middle of all the excitement."

The Zabrak man leans in, dropping his own voice to match Sl'P. "Not anymore. You should've seen the bantha-brained replacement they got to fly that scrap heap. All your confidence, but half the skill and none of the touch, you know?" He shakes his head and gives an exaggerated sigh. "Nearly lost my mind keeping that thing going. We, uh, might not have parted on the best terms. But at least the company's a lot better now." With this last sentence Toral jerks his head toward Anya and gives Sl'P a mischievous grin.

"Waiting for somebody, at any rate," Toral responds to the pale woman with a shrug. He gestures to Anya with a thumb. "She was apparently already on her way here to hook up for work with a bunch of rabble rousers. I kind of, uh, got roped in. Let myself get roped in."

He pauses a moment. "Anyway, yeah, we got in just before the spaceport got blasted. Been lying low since then, waiting for someone to show up. I was about to start arguing that we just steal a ship and try to leave, honestly."

Oh, this should be good, Toral thinks as Anya makes her way toward the group. He takes a sip from his drink, but nearly chokes on it when he hears the Twi'lek announce his name clearly for anyone who cares to listen. He casts a furtive glance around the room, hoping no one else seemed to be paying much attention.

We've really got to coordinate this kind of thing better. Maybe I need a fake name. Oh blast I think it's working.

He watches Anya -- and those who followed her -- as she makes her way back to their table. He takes another long drink, eyeing them over the top of his cup, doing his best to compose himself. It wouldn't be much fun to give away the game that quickly, would it?

"Ah, yes, uh, very good," he says to Anya, doing his best to sound as important and in charge as he imagines the "First Lord of the Star League" should. He sweeps out an arm, gesturing to the open seats at the table. "You will join me for a drink, won't you? Come, sit."

Yeah I like that. Same employer or organization or what have you, even if not necessarily the same crew at the same time.

Qot was more involved before in diplomacy and negotiation on behalf of trade companies, right? Unless she happened to to be on a ship Toral helped rob once, then in all likelihood she'd maybe have heard of some of the crews or organizations he was involved in, but probably not Toral himself. Unless of course she was also doing hoodrat stuff in space. :P

Oh! I forgot one other quick thing.

I don't know if you guys ever have a trouble with speed, or posting rate, but some other games I've been in have had problems keeping up the momentum of the game.

For this, I've come across a few helpful tools that some games use to keep things exciting.

1) The 2-day rule.
Whenever someone doesn't post for 2 days (48 hours) it's just assumed that Real Life has got them by the throat, and it's perfectly understandable to bot them, just for right now, and they'll just catch up as soon as they can. This way not everyone is waiting for someone to post, and we don't have to worry about the game hanging up just because we can't make a post right now.

I'm totally for this and, yeah, if you haven't heard from me in 48 hours, yes, just bot me as you think is best and I'll try to catch up in whatever happens next!

(Some people shorten this to 24 hours during combat, as it's quick to just post a die roll, but I'll leave the group to decide what they prefer.)

2) The Rule of 2.

Some people may have heard of this. It just says that if there's a decision to be made/path to be taken, as soon as 2 party members agree, that's the thing that happens. This just helps to make sure that the action doesn't get held up by discussion that could spiral out in to a week or more! (Oh man, I've got a buddy who actively hates closed doors. He'll totally just barge through them just so a party doesn't get paused trying to figure out the best tactic through one!)

I've heard (once, through third-hand) of this rule being abused, so obviously it's a case-by-case basis, but the few times it has come up it's been helpful, so I try to make people aware.

IMHO. YMMV.

Both seem all right to me.

A Zabrak man sits at a cantina table, his feet propped up on another chair, staring off at nothing in particular. He appears to be quite young, maybe in his mid-20s. He wears dark boots and trousers and a light brown jacket over a white shirt -- nothing that would draw all that much attention to him. One of his hands idly fiddles with the flap on a jacket pocket.

Toral blinks a few times, pulled from his reverie by Anya's voice. He turns his head to look at the Twi'lek woman who had been his constant companion for the past few months. His eyes sweep over her body, pausing in a few key places, before moving back up to her own. "Oh, I can see plenty that I'd call interesting," he responds with a teasing smile.

He laughs and waves one hand in front of him, as if brushing away his own joke. Grabbing his own drink, he takes a long swig from it before looking back out at the rest of the cantina interior.

"Nothing so far," he says with a shrug. "This better work out soon, or we really have to start considering ways to get off this rock."

Perception: 3d6 + 1 ⇒ (3, 4, 5) + 1 = 13

That'd be cool with me too. I'm not sure how famous either of us is, but if we've run in the same circles we might've crossed paths, or one of us has heard of the other.

I'm good with that.

The question was raised about the new people coming in and if they should start with the extra Character points--

My gut says yes the extra 5 character points, but no the extra credits representing the first mission- but if any of our existing players have a problem with that let me know.

Either way works for me, whatever you all decide.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

My top-of-the-head idea is the Toral was working on a pirate ship--basic jig, single-handedly keeping the thing from falling apart yet all his hard work goes unrecognized amongst the scurvy space-dogs--and Anya is brought in as a captured runaway Twi'lek slave.

Toral is given the job to guard her one night, and they get to talking. She says she needs his help, and she can make it worth his while. She needs him to set up a distraction by planting a charge in the O2 recycler.

Later, in a roisting celebration the captain holds, the first mate turns on the captain and kills him, and he's now hailed as the new leader, and everyone congratulates him on a mutiny well done.

That's when Toral blows the charge, and all the pirates run for the lifeboats.

Anya thanks Toral for his quick-thinking courage...and then cuts off a finger of the captain.

"Ah, my contract is gonna need DNA proof that the target died. Um, I got a ride coming in to take me to my next job. It's the big time! The Rebellion! Something about a moff not letting ship's fly and a fresh freedom cell is gonna start. Gonna be a lot of fun!

Um, I could use a good man with me when I hit planetside. Wanna come?"

I like it. It helps that Toral probably has a bit of a weakness for Twi'lek women -- but then so does half the galaxy. It helps even more that he would've been close to snapping regardless. ("I once had to fix a busted vibroblade because the idiot got drunk and tried to cut through a closed door with it. It wasn't even locked! Please get me out of here before I space myself.")

I do wonder about the timing though, since apparently the spaceport has been out and the world blockaded for, what, three months now? Maybe a message got off-world, or we were just already there when that happened.

Hey Wraith. I'd be cool with that, we'd just have to work exactly how they know each other. Toral has a history of running with pirates and other less-than-reputable sorts -- someone's gotta fix all their stuff, after all. He's also done a little slicing work here and there, as well as legitimate technical work at times.

So yeah, it really depends on where your bounty hunting private military contracting has taken you and what sort of relationship you'd have with people like Toral.

Hey hey people. Checking in from recruitment with my Zabrak outlaw mechanic/tech. He's most effective working on smaller starships, but I gave him a range of technical skills so he's more versatile in that sense. Hopefully what he's got isn't too awful.

So I did my best to follow the character creation rules from page 1 here. I hope I got it right, but it's entirely possible I've miscalculated or plain old missed something entirely. Please let me know if anything needs to be fixed.

I'll probably add some more fluff for him soon.
