![]() Kai bows deeply to the captain, then without a word heads back up to get his horse. As he trots back to the port he thinks to himself, I hope this mission goes well. Perhaps the gods will watch out for me. As he gets back to the ship, he is directed where to send his beast of burden, and he makes his way to his quarters. ![]()

![]() Kai dismounts a fair way from the port itself and ties his horse up. He gathers his possessions carefully making sure everything is in its proper place. He lifts the pack onto his back and looks up at the great ship floating before him in the harbor. Blast, I hate sailing., he thinks to himself, give me solid land any day. He takes a deep breath and prepares to board the ship. ![]()

He manages to push himself onto all fours and through gritted teeth manages to speak. "You fight well. Your strength is impressive." He attempts to bow, and then slipping the net off himself he walks back over and leans against the edge of the building holding his chest. ![]()

![]() Oops there is a miscalculation with AC, but my touch is 12, not 13. Kai sidesteps the first attack, but the second swing of the net catches his blade and yanks it free of his grasp. He looks shocked for a moment, but then jumps back pulls a short bow from his back and nocks an arrow."You have my blade, but I'm not without other means." ![]() Kai catches the bowl and reads the scrawled question. When he notices the salute from Toph his eyes narrow. "My path is carved by duty, my ship driven by honor. I follow the way set before me by the unwritten code of loyalty that all warriors must hold to!" He stands up as he finishes the statement and finishes the rest of his tea in one swallow. He then takes stock of the unusual crowd gathering around him. Tong Kai is a veteran of many a combat. He trained as a great samurai in the service of his familial lord. The highest virtue in his mind was that of serving honorably and protecting the Satrap from any harm. However, he was betrayed by a fellow soldier. The other soldier, Ling Zin, gave assassins the location of his master and while he was weakest, they struck. Kai wouldn't let himself believe that Zin was the betrayer. When he went to confront his comrade in arms he found Zin's quarters empty and Zin was nowhere to be found. Tong swore vengeance on Zin for his betrayal, and with the death of his lord he set out as a wandering ronin. Taking up the role of Samurai for hire. He offers his skills to the local Satrap while he searches for Lin in order to exact his revenge. He holds the highest standards for chivalry and honor and will do anything to protect the lord he serves. However, he has become bitter and is often suspicious of peoples' motives. Kai speaks his mind, and doesn't hold back both in battle and out. He tends to be a loner, but will defend those he cares about. He has only one notable feature, that is he bears a long scar down his arm from a battle, but he doesn't speak of it. Kai rides along the road, heading for the next town. His hand briefly rests on his trusted nodachi, and then moves back to the saddle.
