Describe Yourself: Tomnus grew up the son of a simple merchent that worked along the trade routes that crossed through the region. Tomnus's father started teaching him mathematics at a young age, figuring thath is son would follow in his footsteps. If Tomnus was to become a merchant he would need to know mathematics as part of the trade but Tomnus often felt that he had a greater calling in his life than to be a merchent and to sit in a room with dusty old books all day. He soon grew tired of the mathematics that came to him so easily. He started to hang round some friends that were into swordplay and he soon developed some skill at it. Much to his fathers dismay, Tomnus decided to pursue this new found interest in swordsmanship and abandoned his study of mathematics. This drove a wedge between his father and him and he eventually was asked to leave his families home. Having no where else to go he decided to enroll in the university to further hone his skills with the sword.

thanks guys. Things are finally settling down on my end at least so I'll be able to get back to a more regular posting schedule.

Tomnus enters the room and draws the all to familiar symbol of Pharasma over his heart as he enters. He will stand back and let others talk, only speaking up if needed.

Hey guys sorry I haven't posted in a few days. Girlfriend and her parents came into town on Thursday and her dad ended up passing away while they were here so...its been a rough couple of days and haven't had time to get online.

The hair on the back of Tomnus's neck stands on end as Eloise states her hypothesis. "Great...so it might be the efforts of the way here in town. But why act now...they've been in town for weeks now according to the professor...why wait until we're here...

"Okay just know I will be more than happy to offer assistance if you need." Tomnus says and then waits for the others to head to the church.

I have a bad feeling about this... he thinks as they're on the way to the church.

Sensing a bit of frustration from the sheriff Tomnus steps up. "Now Sheriff we mean your fine town no harm. We have just been asked to handle some business for the late professor and then we will be out of your hair. As for what happened here...we were all at miss Lorrimore's residence last night so it couldn't have been anyone of us that defaced this statue. If you want any help I know I'd be more than happy to assist you in cleaning it up and finding out who defaced it in the first place."

With the +2 from the aid Mathis thats an 18...still not great but decent

Sorry guys lots of stuff going on in my personal life...I'll try and get a post up sometime this weekend...won't be today I know that.

Tomnus stands there quietly allowing Eloise to try and be diplomatic. He'll speak up if she needs assistance.

Tomnus follows the group ready to step in if Eloise has a repeat of what happened in the grave yard. As she mentions unbuttoning the top button of her collar Tomnus just shakes his head.

I'm here...sorry lots of stuff going on in my personal life right now but I should still be able to post daily.

Hope everyone likes my post...and don't worry the fighter will talk our way out of this situation.

Tomnus will follow the group to the statue and then sigh when he sees what happened. Ofcourse someone defaces the statue when there are new comers around to blame for it...oh and lookey there Gibbs is already here...this is not going to end well I have a feeling. Might have to try a very quick diplomatic approach here.

Tomnus leans over to Zindelo and whispers quietly "How much you want to bet Gibbs is trying to blame us for this." He then turns to the rest of the group and quietly says "I'll handle this if need be."

He then straightens up and gets ready to speak if anyone approaches the group.

"Well I'm up for a trip to the church as well as a trip to the Restlands...want to see whats in the crypt that professor Lorrimore talked about in his journal."

Tomnus grabs a cup of coffee and a plate full of bacon and then sits down at the table. "I wouldn't mind meeting with Father Grimburrow. We might also want to investigate the crypt that professor lorrimore mentioned in his journal and what better way to be able to do that then to get permission from the great fa..." Tomnus stops mid word as he sees Mathus enter the room.

"Rough night Mathus?"

Tomnus will make small talk with who ever wants to talk to him and then will retire for the night. Raising in the morning he comes down stairs dressed in his armor again.

"Morning everyone. Everyone sleep alright?" he says as he makes his way into the kitchen.

Tomnus will sit and listen attentativly as Zindelo and Mathus tell him about what they have learned. "interesting...so this backwater town thought it would be smart to build a maximum secruity prison here...yep great plan and I'm sure that those 5 men had nothing to do with the fire. he says rather sarcastically as Zindelo finishes telling the tail.

At Mathus's question Tomnus will sake his head Nothing much. Like I said in the bar the locals believe the prison is haunted...to the point that none of them will set foot on the grounds there. We also heard a rather disturbing song that some of the children in town were singing and according to the older man I spoke to its a rather common skipping game the children play. The really odd thing is they were singing in Varisian and we're no where near Varisia..." he will then recite the lyrics in common.

Sorry to disappear again but I'm going to be busy from tonight until Sunday night. Probably won't get a post up until Monday though. Girlfriend's coming into town again...

Tomnus raises and heads for the door, giving a slight nod to the elderly gentleman he was talking to earlier. On their way back Tomnus will keep an eye out to see if the kids are still playing in the street.

Seeing the others enter Tomnus will excuse himself from the very brief conversation he was having with the elderly man and rejoin his compainons.

"Yes did you have any luck getting any information? I myself was able to find out from the older gentleman I was talking to that the locals believe the prison is haunted and avoid it. Apparently they believe that the prisons executioner still guards the grounds as some sort of spirit."

Guys I'm going to be off and on until Monday. My girlfriend is spending part of spring break with me so I'm going to be spending time with her.

Tomnus will head to the tavern, though a little reluctantly. "isn't it a little early to start drinking..."

Ok - we have 3 ppl - 2 plys and 1 npc in the archives.

Again I suggest that we split up and have some of the others check out town and its shops and do a bit of PR for the group - buy the town inn a round of beer or two and talk to the Sheriff on how Lorrimor died?

Mathus is (at this level) an Aid Another Machine... he can support Knowledge Local/History rolls or he can have a crack at Diplomacy aid anothers.

I think he's better suited to helping Zin but if there is any objections I can go walk about with the others.

We can get 2 aid anothers in both cases... Zin with 1 player and Kendra and then group around town with 1 player rolling and the other two aiding another.

Keep in mind that Zin and his 'posse' will likely be in the archives for a few hours whereas the group in town will have time to see the whole town and meet a few of the people.

Those in the town archives had best prepare themselves for a few introspective or memory style posts so they can keep the tempo up with the others around town.

At this point Zin, you choose who you want to go to the archives with you... I'm cool either way.

Tomnus and Theodor WOULD make a good team for socialising with the town. Eloise? You can still aid another with Diplomacy, it just means you need a 11 and not a 10... which is 50-50, also your character is pretty damn smart and has Knowledge Arcane - check out the local shops and see what you can dig up from the town witch, fortune teller etc. If you make the arcana roll, it may give you a circumstance bonus.

One thing I hope that can happen is that the posting tempo can increase as we get back on track... we had a pretty good momentum a while back.

So it looks like Theodore, Eloise, and I are headed off to explore the town a little and help get our reputation up?

Want to head out to the sheriffs first or where are we headed guys?

Before everyone heads out Tomnus will eat a quick breakfast and then go up and get dressed in his armor and come out with his gaff strapped to his back. He leaves the rest of his weapons in his room.

I think thats a good idea.

Tomnus comes down the stairs wearing a pair of cotton pants and a sweat shirt from the university. His hair is a little messy and you can tell he isn't fully awake yet because this is the first time you've seen him without a weapon since you all met.

He groggily makes his way to the room where the rest of the party is and takes a set, yawning. Hearing the talk of going around town Tomnus nods his head.

"Well if Miss Kendra doesn't mind the company I can stay with her today. That way she can do what ever she wants and will have a personal guard. If people want to take another crack at the professors library I can aid you a little in that. Before Kendra's dream I had a little time to look through a few of the books."

Tomnus will bow his head to the ladies and other party members in the room and then find a bed to finish sleeping in.

Tomnus watches as Eloise leaves the room to enter her room and then comes back with her gear. Hmm thats rather smart. I would have done the same thing but....that would be been really awkward he thinks to himself as he hears Eloise sit down on the bed. He knocks on the door frame to let the women know he's going to be coming in and then walks into the room.

"Seeing that you have things covered here Eloise would you mind if I went to bed? Or do you want me to still stand guard? I'm willing to serve how ever you feel comfortable."

Hope this isn't assuming to much on my part. If your just going to stay there long enough for Kendra to calm down then ignore it and Tomnus will remain on guard outside the door until he goes and gets Zindelo.

I agree with Mathus on this one lol. What is it with guys and liking that sort of thing...

Tomnus, feeling sheepish for letting his guard down stations himself outside of her door. He wanted to give her privacy but he also wanted to be near if anything else happened. He will not do each of the other guests as they walk past and when Zindelo exits the room Tomnus will pull him aside for a second.

"I'm good for a couple more hours. I'll wake you when its your turn to take watch of the professors daughter and I suggest you stay outside her room...don't want to be taking any more chances."

Tomnus will take his watch once Theodore wakes him, taking his Gaff with him but choosing not to dawn his armor. He sits down and starts reading some of the books while he stands guard and starts sorting them into piles based on topic.

Tomnus will approach Kendra while the others are studying.

"Do you mind if I put on some tea or coffee while the others study. If the late nights spent studying at Lapidstat have taught me anything its that one needs lots of caffine to stay awake long enough to absorb what your studying." he pauses for a second and then smiles to himself before adding "And would you also have any ale? A stiff drink never hurt either." He'll laugh a little at the mention of the ale.

Tomnus raises an eyebrow at Eloise. "Is that possible? I mean to question the spirit of someone you just killed...I'm not that knowledgeable in the ways of magic."

Unfortunatly Tomnus is built very poorly for this part of the game being that he only has knowledge engineering...

Tomnus nods at Eloise as she suggests someone should stay with Kendra.

"I wholeheartedly agree. It sounds like this...whispering way... was in town and I would hate for them to try to get to Kendra..."

Tomnus will read the entries aloud to the group and then will close the book. "Hmm sorry for you to find out this way Kendra... Tomnus says looking over his shoulder at the young lady. He then looks at everyone else.

"So it looks like the professors death isn't as simple as it looked just a moment ago. We need to come up with a plan here before we just run off and get ourselves hurt or killed. From whats written here it sounds like the whispering way is not to be messed around with..."

Sure I can't use knowledge:engineering there great dm...just kidding

Tomnus sheths his sword again and gets up to sit on a chair as the chest is brought into the room. If he is permitted he will read the book that says "READ ME NOW".

Tomnus will also take a knee in front of Kendra and offer up his longsword to her. "I to would be honored to stay and watch over your house and aid you in anything that you desire."

"of course we would understand if its far to soon for you to talk of such things. After all you need time to get over your loss" Tomnus will pipe in, looking at Zindelo.

Tomnus will remain silent for the rest of the service. As the others decline the invitation he can see the disappointment in Kendra's eyes and it saddens him. "Don't worry Kendra, we will celebrate your fathers life tonight the way he wanted." he said as he moved up beside her and walked with her back to her home.

After Zindelo finishes Tomnus will step forward.

"I haven't had the pleasure of knowing the professor for very long. But some of my friends back at the university knew him rather well. Many of my teachers in Lapidstat had worked with him first hand and it was through them I had learned about what he was passionate about. I soon grew eager to meet the man my self and my opportunity came a month ago when I was hired to help him on a mission... He pauses, tears welling up in his eyes. He takes a deep breath and composes himself before continuing.

"I was to meet him here next week...looks like I came a little early." with that a single tear runs down his cheek and he goes and joins the rest of the people, tracing a small circle over his chest as he walks.

Tomnus watches as the crowd turns and blushes slightly as Kendra puts a hand on his shoulder. He returns to the coffin and returns to the solemn march to the grave site.

'...but slandering the Professor when he's too dead to defend himself...'

That statement made me almost fall out of my chair I was laughing so hard. Its not that he's dead...nope...he too dead lol.
