I feel a bit guilty about it, but I'm happy to resolve this without words.

Todor draws his mace (move action) and walks into the room up next to Helmut at H9 (standard action).

Elric used to draw his weapon while moving. Maybe I'll learn to do that someday.

Todor steps over to H4 to see where the swordless guard is fleeing. He then tells the new guard in the doorway. "You should drop your weapon, too." (DC 15 Will save)

I'd tell the fleeing one to drop, but he is out of my range.

Male Human Cleric 1

Round 1

Todor will keep the same action.

"You should drop your weapon." (DC 15 will save for Command)

Todor will then draw his own weapon.

Male Human Cleric 1

Seems we're headed for combat and this is more of a combat move, so feel free to ignore or put off.

"We still might resolve this peacefully. You should drop your weapon." (DC 15 will save for Command)

Male Human Cleric 1

"As my friend says, do you really expect us to be that careless? You are the one's in need. What do you think we're going to do? Our weapons are sheathed and we came knocking on your door. Time is wasting and prices are rising as we talk."

Todor looks around for any sign of their quary.

All healed except for his pride, Todor nods his agreement to the plan.

Male Human Cleric 1

Todor picks himself and his weapon up off the ground.

And today's lesson will be humility.

"Sorry about the confusion. Please accept some healing as we find our commond ground. We're looking for someone who might be working with or seeking help from the same gang. Perhaps we can work together? At least, we can keep an eye out for your sister if we find them."

I really dislike people. No sense. No sense at all.

Todor shrugs and follows Tristian's lead. He steps to the flank and tries to strike the man on his arm instead of his head.

1d20 + 3 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 3 + 2 - 4 = 20 - BAB/STR, Flank, non-lethal

Um. Maybe Serry will say something brilliant.

Todor stops and points at the figure without saying a word. He then whispers, "Let's talk first."

"That seems pretty reasonable. They're a rough lot, from what I hear, and I don't relish getting jumped, but better to get it done with quickly. So my story is that I and my friends here heard that the gang might know a guy who's looking to get out of town in a hurry, and we might be able to help with that problem for him. Right?"

"Exactly."

Todor couldn't have said it better...really, he couldn't have.

I'm working on my people skills. Next level I'll be okay, but for now I believe you're the party face.

Male Human Cleric 1

Combining what we have...

"So, it appears we're going to knock on the front door presenting ourselves as a group able to get the ex-lieutenant out of the city. If asked about our plans, we claim they're secret and revealing any part would risk them falling apart."

"If the lieutenant comes along quietly then we just take him into custody a few blocks away."

"If the gang says, they have no idea who we're talking about then we walk away and hope maybe he'll contact us shortly or we can watch the place for a sign of him."

"If we see the lieutenant, but he doesn't go for the plan then we might try to snatch him right away depending on the odds. What are good odds? I'd say as long as they aren't worse then 2-1 we go for it. We might have a hard time tracking him down again. If there are a dozen in there, then we walk away."

"And obviously, Serry will do the talking. I'm confident she'll be able to deflect any questions they might have about our plan or how we learned the lieutenant was there."

"We'll just have to take it as it goes."

Yes, much more like remodeling an old building. We open up the walls and hope things aren't too rotten underneath.

"It seems simple, but what do we do if we see him and he doesn't want to join us? Are we going to announce ourselves as the law and demand his surrender? Are we going to fight this gang if they don't hand him over or do we walk out and wait to catch him alone?"

This is like building a building without a plan. We might get lucky, but I feel like it's going to all collapse on our head.

Seeing Tristain walk out past him as silently as Penance, Todor decides to follow him. When Tristain finally stops, he will inquire about what he learned.

"I guess it's time to head for the butcher shop. I wish Elric was still here. I guess I will take the lead once we enter."

"We should try to see what's going on there before we rush in though. Maybe we can watch it from a nearby building or store."

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10 - Perception Glad to get that out of the way.

In case the storyline is progressed quickly, Todor plans on casting Shield of Faith and Bless before entering the building if there is time.

Maybe Elric and I can loiter outside within earshot. I'm not keen on running around without armor given the current conditions.

Male Human Cleric 1

Todor tucks away his holy symbol. "No one is going to appreciate a priest in the tavern either I suspect. I'm beginning to understand how to approach people and get them talking, but I bet Serry will have a better chance of getting them to share what they know."

"We could walk in as two groups of three or three groups of two and see what we find out. We should be relatively close together though in case something goes wrong. A couple of us could even loiter outside and rush in if needed."

"We should probably have a reason for looking for him too. Let's see...Old friends? No. Owes us a gambling/drinking debt? Likely. Looking to hire him? Probably not. Um. What do the rest of you think?"

More talking to people? I thought the life of an adventurer was more about action. Next thing you know they'll be having us fill out paperwork.

"We would be happy to help. If you would provide us a good description of the lieutenant, I'm sure we should be able to locate him. Did he have a residence aside from the barracks? Who knew him well at the barracks? What else can you tell us about his interests aside from drinking?

So Todor does or does not need the extra gold?

I don't currently need it as the first items I'll need are more gold than I have, but the 800 does divide easily to 160/each.

The one thing we are lacking in is the capability to deal with a swarm.

Todor will pick up 2 alchemist fire and 5 oil (40.5 gp)

That put's Todor at
Remaining starting money: 17 gold, 8 silver , 7 copper
Share of equipment = 100.3 gp each
Share of ingots = 240 gp each
Total 358.17
- alchemist fire & oil 40.5
- share of CLW wand - 160
New total = 157 gp 6 sp 7 cp

Tristain will buy a nice set of masterwork painting (chalk) tools and a Chronicler's supplies (if available).

** spoiler omitted **

Because chalk artistry is exactly what every army needs.

"Yes. That would be a good idea. People are going to start wondering about all the spare equipment lying around. I'll assist you in selling the items before we head to the Citadel."

And now the inside of the Citadel in the same day. Abadar has truly blessed me.

Male Human Cleric 1

"I would be honored to serve your highness. It would surely be a tragedy if your husband's death was followed by the death of our city. Abadar has led me on a strange path these past few days, but it has led me to your service. I had hoped to be of service in the rebuilding and restoring of Korvosa, but I suspect things are otherwise. I am ready to assist you as warrior, healer, or builder."

Male Human Cleric 1

Todor admires the curves and colors before him. So striking. So beautiful.

He pulls out his sketchbook and does his best to do justice to the beauty before him. He stares deeply and carefully runs his fingertip along the firm edges. Oblivious to those around him, Todor doesn't even notice Sabina walk in until she speaks.

"Oh. Hello. The architecture here is quite amazing. Might I return to admire it some more after speaking with the queen?"

Male Human Cleric 1

Todor's finds the night of healing the wounded oddly satisfying as the work comes even more naturally to him than his engineering skills. Abadar, you have me so confused. Builder? Fighter? Healer? Who am I?

Todor begins his day in prayer and then meets the others at the bank.

Not sure if Todor would have housing such as a simple cell in the temple itself or a nearby building. He might just be walking out the front door.

"Good morning. It is good to see everyone made it through the night safely. We did our part here to help those that we could. As expected, the sun has risen and things have calmed down. Hopefully people are ready to resume with their normal lives." Yes. Intentionally oblivious to the number of deaths, political situation, etc.

Treasure so far:

Breastplate (off skeleton) - Elric
Chain mail (off priestess) Todor
Heavy steel shield Todor
2 Vials (off priestess) - CLW - Tristian?

Sell?
Greataxe - 20 gp
Splint mail decorated with royal insignia (masterwork) - 350
Beautiful longsword decorated with elven calligraphy (masterwork) - 315 gp
Scythe - 18 gp

1/2 price from sale = 351.5
+ 100 gp in total - skeleton fight
+ 5 pp (50gp) from noble

= 501.5 divided by 5 = 100.3 each

Any disagreements?

Male Human Cleric 1

As the princess leaves, Todor looks around at his companions. "Um. Thank you everyone. I have enjoyed our time together, but I guess should go back to the church."

Todor looks around at the burning city and the bodies. Is that it? His hand brushes against the coin purse. "Oh. Wait." He opens the coin pouch and finds the five platinums.

"Please. Take one of these. It's only fair." Todor passes out the coins and looks around once more.

"I'll see you at the bank tomorrow."

Todor tucks away his holy symbol and walks down the streets to the church trying to comprehend what has happened, not only to the city, but to himself. What are your plans for me Abadar?

Todor will check in with his superiors and advise them of everything that happened with an unconscious spin on events that indicate Abadar is calling on Todor to be more of a warrior.

Male Human Cleric 1

"Thank you. Hopefully we can make it to the castle without anymore distractions."

Male Human Cleric 1

Following Elric's lead, Todor will tell the group,

"The authorities are telling you to leave and your church says it is time to go. So flee before it's too late."

If they're within 25', Todor will back that up with a Command to the leader (DC 15). Otherwise it's just a 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 diplomacy.

However, he will support the rest of the party in whatever course is chosen.

Todor will stand in front of the princess with shield and hammer in hand. However, he will be listening to Tristain, Serry, or Lionel for advice on directions.
